President Trump ratcheted up his pressure on lawmakers to pass a healthcare plan Saturday with a threat to end key Obamacare payments and cancel some of lawmakers’ healthcare benefits.

The president was referring in the first part of the tweet to ending key payments to insurance companies under Obamacare known as Cost Sharing Reduction (CSR) payments, which he has threatened to end before.

The second portion of the tweet referenced congressional health benefits.

Members of Congress and many staffers were removed from Federal Employee Health Benefits structure and put into the new insurance exchanges set up by Obamacare in 2010.

The Office of Personnel Management under the Obama administration said members of Congress could obtain subsidized insurance through Washington, D.C.’s health insurance exchange.

Conservative groups such as Heritage Action, which is the political wing of the Heritage Foundation, have decried the Obama-era rule.

“Senators should finally subject themselves to the same burdens imposed upon their constituents,” Heritage Action president Michael Needham wrote in an Independent Journal Review op-ed this week.

Trump’s tweet comes after the GOP effort to fulfill their seven-year campaign promise to repeal and replace Obamacare collapsed in the Senate this week.

Three GOP senators – Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and John McCain (Ariz.)  joined all 48 Democrats in voting down a pared-down “skinny” repeal bill.

The previously vigorous movement to throw out Obamacare has gotten watered down and watered down until (as Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky spells out in this clip) now, what lawmakers have left is the opposite of what they set out to achieve in the beginning — a pork-laden giveaway that only increases government spending, rather than lowering it.

As Economics Professor Peter Morici of the University of Maryland relates in this all-too-accurate clip, the effort to reform taxes won’t be effective unless health care costs (Obamacare specifically) can be reined in.

And as Morici spells out, there are several specific culprits that should justifiably be targeted with Obamacare overhaul but, as Paul confirms, Congress appears to lack the backbone to make the changes that would be necessary to reform Obamacare the way conservatives would like to see it altered (if it can’t be repealed in its entirety).

Democrats, in particular, are whining about who would lose their entitlements — but, as Morici says, some of them deserve to.

If Republicans can’t get their act together on health care, their prospects for re-election in 2018 could be highly endangered. And that’s to say nothing of what President Trump will have to say about tax reform once health care is wrapped up.

Democrats are finally beginning to realize that “We Don’t Like Trump Either” is a poor campaign platform for the 2018 midterms. As such, they’ve developed a slogan that might be even worse: “A Better Deal.” 

Meant to evoke FDR, presumably, it marks the party’s turn back to the middle and working class Americans who abandoned them (or, more accurately, were abandoned) in the last election. But despite having all of Hollywood at their disposal, Democrats couldn’t manage to come up with a saleable message that might actually inspire a few people to come out and vote for them the next time the opportunity arises. 

And this isn’t by accident.  It happens when you have politicians so wrapped up in their own 'elite' bubble that they literally have NO idea what an average American’s life is like.

Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi kicked off the new era of Democrat failure with a press conference in Virginia, just far enough outside Washington to make it look like the party is trying to reach out to small-town America. But not far enough that any of them actually have to be inconvenienced, naturally. 

And while their words were filled with progressive platitudes and earnest claims, none of those words could hide the truth: The new and improved Democratic Party is just a fresh coat of paint on an old, tired dog. 

Underneath all the platitudes are the same high-tax, anti-business policies that kept our economy in handcuffs for eight long years. The same policies that the country rejected in 2010, 2014 and, most emphatically, in 2016. The same policies we will likely reject next year.

Absurdly, the Democrat leadership thinks that “answering” the surprising popularity of Donald Trump lies in copy-catting some of his ideas. So we heard some lame business about an infrastructure plan, re-negotiating our trade agreements, and a new program for paid sick leave. Which of course makes you wonder why these same Democrats refuse to budge an inch when it comes to actually WORKING towards these goals with the current president. 

It almost makes you think this is just a lot of hot air being blown around to regain favor with disgusted former Democrats in the Rust Belt. If you didn’t know better, that is…

For years, the number one complaint from the low-information voting sector of America is that there’s too much gridlock in Washington. You heard Democrats complain about it day and night when Obama was president. Now they have a chance to ACTUALLY remake the image of their party by working with the president, working with Republicans, and taking a chance on some of the policies that will actually help middle class and working Americans. But they don’t seem too eager to do that, now do they?  No, they want to make “a better deal.” Smells a hell of a lot like the old deal.

(Washington, DC)—[CBN News] A spiritual awakening is underway at the White House.

Some of the most powerful people in America have been gathering weekly to learn more about God's Word, and this Trump Cabinet Bible study is making history.

They've been called the most evangelical Cabinet in history—men and women who don't mince words when it comes to where they stand on God and the Bible.

Ralph Drollinger of Capitol Ministries told CBN News, "These are godly individuals that God has risen to a position of prominence in our culture."

They're all hand-picked by President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

"I don't think Donald Trump has figured out that he chained himself to the Apostle Paul," Drollinger laughed.

Drollinger is a former NBA-playing giant of a man with an even bigger calling. He founded Capitol Ministries with the idea that if you change the hearts of lawmakers, then their Christian world view will guide them to make good policies.

He's started Bible studies in 40 state capitols, a number of foreign capitols, teaches weekly studies in the U.S. House and Senate and now leads about a dozen members of President Trump's Cabinet in weekly studies of the Scriptures.

Health Secretary Tom Price, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, Education Secretary Betsy Devos, Agriculture Secretary Sunny Perdue, and CIA Director Mike Pompeo are just a few of the regulars.

"It's the best Bible study that I've ever taught in my life. They are so teachable; they're so noble; they're so learned," Drollinger said.

It's groundbreaking since he  doesn't think a formal Bible study among executive Cabinet members has been done in at least 100 years.

America's top cop, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, also attends the study.

"He'll (Jeff Sessions) go out the same day I teach him something and I'll see him do it on camera and I just think, 'Wow, these guys are faithful, available and teachable and they're at Bible study every week they're in town,'" Drollinger said.

President Trump is invited to attend the Bible studies, too. Each week he receives a copy of Drollinger's teaching.

And Vice President Pence is also planning to join the study as his schedule permits. He also serves as a sponsor. 

In Pence, Drollinger sees many similarities to Biblical figures like Joseph, Mordecai and Daniel—all men who rose to the number two position in governments at different times in history.

"Mike Pence has respect for the office. He dresses right—like it says Joseph cleaned himself up before he went to stand before the Pharaoh," Drollinger told CBN News.

"Mike Pence has uncompromising Biblical tenacity and he has a loving tone about him that's not just a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal," he continued. "And then fourthly, he brings real value to the head of the nation."
Like others, Drollinger often compares President Trump to Biblical strongman Samson.

"I just praise God for them," he said. "And I praise God for Mike Pence, who I think with Donald Trump chose great people to lead our nation."

The cop was happy and left the shop. The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I can not accept money from you; I'm doing community service this week.'

 

The Congressman was very happy and left the shop. The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

As Ronald Reagan said:  BOTH POLITICIANS AND DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN.....AND FOR THE SAME REASON!
