Fed Opens Negative Interest Rate Pandora’s Box

Fed Opens Negative Interest Rate Pandora’s Box

Here's what happens next

Fed Opens Negative Interest Rate Pandora’s Box
by Zero Hedge | September 19, 2015

As we already commented extensively, while the Fed’s dovish non-hike was a violent surprise for the market, and has led to what may be the first thoroughly unanticipated (at least by the market) policy mistake by the Federal Reserve (judging by the market), the biggest news was the very symbolic, yet all too ominous, negative interest rate forecast in the Fed’s projection materials by one FOMC member.

This was the first time in Fed history that an FOMC member has on the record predicted NIRP in the US.
Janey Yellen’s subsequent non-denial during the press conference did not exactly inspire hope that the Fed was just “joking”:
I don’t expect that we’re going to be in a path of providing additional accommodation. But if the outlook were to change in a way that most of my colleagues and I do not expect, and we found ourselves with a weak economy that needed additional stimulus, we would look at all of our available tools. And that would be something that we would evaluate in that kind of context.
Furthermore, when considering that virtually all of Europe is already flooded by NIRP, and earlier Bank of England’s Andy Haldane, one of the otherwise more rational members of the central bank, advocated negative rates in the UK, one can be virtually certain that unless there is a dramatic rebound in the global economy, the next step by Yellen will not be a rate hike, but easing (just as Goldman predicted) right into negative interest rate territory.
What would NIRP in the US mean in practical terms?
For the answer we go straight to, drumroll, the Fed itself whose New York economists discussed precisely this topic just three years ago and issued a very stark warning (which apparently the Fed itself decided to ignore), saying “If Interest Rates Go Negative . . . Or, Be Careful What You Wish For.”
This is what the New York Fed said in August 2012:
One way to push short-term rates negative would be to charge interest on excess bank reserves. The interest rate paid by the Fed on excess reserves, the so-called IOER, is a benchmark for a wide variety of short-term rates, including rates on Treasury bills, commercial paper, and interbank loans. If the Fed pushes the IOER below zero, other rates are likely to follow.
Without taking a position on either the merits of negative interest rates or the Fed’s statutory authority to fix the IOER below zero, this post examines some of the possible consequences. We suggest that significantly negative rates—that is, rates below -50 basis points—may spawn a variety of financial innovations, such as special-purpose banks and the use of certified bank checks in large-value transactions, and novel preferences, such as a preference for making early and/or excess payments to creditworthy counterparties and a preference for receiving payments in forms that facilitate deferred collection. Such responses should be expected in a market-based economy but may nevertheless present new problems for financial service providers (when their products and services are used in ways not previously anticipated) and for regulators (if novel private sector behavior leads to new types of systemic risk).
Cash and Cash-like Products
The usual rejoinder to a proposal for negative interest rates is that negative rates are impossible; market participants will simply choose to hold cash. But cash is not a realistic alternative for corporations and state and local governments, or for wealthy individuals. The largest denomination bill available today is the $100 bill. It would take ten thousand such bills to make $1 million. Ten thousand bills take up a lot of space, are costly to transport, and present significant security problems. Nevertheless, if rates go negative, the U.S. Treasury Department’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing will likely be called upon to print a lot more currency as individuals and small businesses substitute cash for at least some of their bank balances.
If rates go negative, we should also expect to see financial innovations that emulate cash in more convenient forms. One obvious candidate is a special-purpose bank that offers conventional checking accounts (for a fee) and pledges to hold no asset other than cash (which it immobilizes in a very large vault). Checks written on accounts in a special-purpose bank would be tantamount to negotiable warehouse receipts on the bank’s cash. Special-purpose banks would probably not be viable for small accounts or if interest rates are only slightly below zero, say -25 or -50 basis points (because break-even account fees are likely to be larger), but might start to become attractive if rates go much lower.
Early Payments, Excess Payments, and Deferred Collections
Beyond cash and special-purpose banks, a variety of interest-avoidance strategies might emerge in connection with payments and collections. For example, a taxpayer might choose to make large excess payments on her quarterly estimated federal income tax filings, with the idea of recovering the excess payments the following April. Similarly, a credit card holder might choose to make a large advance payment and then run down his balance with subsequent expenditures, reversing the usual practice of making purchases first and payments later.
We might also see some relatively simple avoidance strategies in connection with conventional payments. If I receive a check from the federal government, or some other creditworthy enterprise, I might choose to put the check in a drawer for a few months rather than deposit it in a bank (which charges interest). In fact, I might even go to my bank and withdraw funds in the form of a certified check made payable to myself, and then put that check in a drawer.
Certified checks, which are liabilities of the certifying banks rather than individual depositors, might become a popular means of payment, as well as an attractive store of value, because they can be made payable to order and can be endorsed to subsequent payees. Commercial banks might find their liabilities shifting from deposits (on which they charge interest) to certified checks outstanding (where assessing interest charges could be more challenging). If bank liabilities shifted from deposits to certified checks to a significant degree, banks might be less willing to extend loans, because certified checks are likely to be less stable than deposits as a source of funding.
As interest rates go more negative, market participants will have increasing incentives to make payments quickly and to receive payments in forms that can be collected slowly. This is exactly the opposite of what happened when short-term interest rates skyrocketed in the late 1970s: people then wanted to delay making payments as long as possible and to collect payments as quickly as possible. Some corporations chose to write checks on remote banks (to delay collection as long as possible), and consumers learned to cash checks quickly, even if that meant more trips to the bank, and to demand direct deposits. However, if interest rates go negative, the incentives reverse: people receiving payments will prefer checks (which can be held back from collection) to electronic transfers. Such a reversal could impose novel burdens on payment systems that have evolved in an environment of positive interest rates.
Conclusion
The take-away from this post is that if interest rates go negative, we may see an epochal outburst of socially unproductive—even if individually beneficial—financial innovation. Financial service providers are likely to find their products and services being used in volumes and ways not previously anticipated, and regulators may find that private sector responses to negative interest rates have spawned new risks that are not fully priced by market participants.
Yes, the conclusion is staggering: the Fed itself previewed the complete debacle that the Fed itself is now preparing to unleash with NIRP which will lead to “an epochal outburst of socially unproductive—even if individually beneficial—financial innovation.” Not only that but the Fed, in a moment of rare lucidity, admitted that “private sector responses to negative interest rates have spawned new risks that are not fully priced by market participants.”
Tell that to Europe, Sweden, Switzerland where NIRP already reigns supreme, and all other countries where NIRP is coming.
But what may be missed between the lines is the Fed’s explicit observation that in a world of NIRP, cash will reign supreme, as everyone rushes to withdraw their “taxed” bank deposits and keep the funds in the form of paper cash, hidden safely somewhere where the bank has no access, and where no bank can collect an interest rate for the “privilege” of being funded with a negative rate liability.
Furthermore, as the Fed correctly observes, “the usual rejoinder to a proposal for negative interest rates is that negative rates are impossible; market participants will simply choose to hold cash. But cash is not a realistic alternative for corporations and state and local governments, or for wealthy individuals.”
So what is the alternative?
The answer was hinted during Andy Haldane’s speech earlier today in which he not only urged the banning of cash but the implementation of negative rates, two concepts which, after reading the note above, should intuitively go hand in hand: as we commented “one idea, Haldane told an audience of business owners in Northern Ireland, could be to scrap cash and adopt a state-issued digital currency like Bitcoin. Although widely reviled as the currency for drug dealers and criminals, Haldane said Bitcoin’s distributed payment technology had ‘real potential’. Which may explain the Fed’s sudden fascination in the virtual currency.”
And fascination it is. Below are some examples of recent Fed research on a topic which as recently as 2011 it held as a heretic taboo, and which the ECB considered a Ponzi scheme as recently as November 2012:
Last but not least:
Of course it does. Why? For two simple reasons:
  • First, as noted above, cash and NIRP simply do not mix as cash provides the general population a handy way of circumventing the intentionally punitive implications of negative rates, which as a tax on all savers, would force everyone to spend savings the moment these were created. The thinking here, of course, would be that with savings immediately converted to consumption, the velocity of money would surge and boost economic growth in the process even if it was conducted under punitive rate duress.
  • Second, and even more important, is the blockchain basis of bitcoin, which is precisely why the Fed is so fascinated by it. With a perpetual and current ledger of every single transaction in the monetary domain, a digital currency such as bitcoin provides the Fed something cash never would – a constant database (or ledger) of every single transaction everywhere and any given moment.
It is the second aspect of bitcoin that has led to such recent headlines as “Big banks consider using Bitcoin blockchain technology” and, of course, Bloomberg’s piece from September 1 in which “Blythe Masters Tells Banks the Blockchain Changes Everything.”
Yes it does, and especially in a world in which the Fed regulates all blockchain transactions under a negative interest rate regime: quite simply, the combination of blockchain and NIRP give the Fed supreme control over all transactions.
Simply said: bitcoin under NIRP is a Fed match made in heaven.
There is just one small hurdle – eliminating cash as a transaction medium entirely. However, considering the US experience with confiscating monetary intermediates most recently observed with Executive Order 6102 when FDR confiscated all US gold, will the Fed allow such a little “problem” as “sequestering” available cash stand in the way of NIRP dominance? Of course not, especially if the alternative is the complete loss of central bank credibility.
Which, in a nutshell, is what Kocherlakota’s negative interest-rate dot unleashed: a world in which the existing cash/ZIRP paradigm becomesblockchain/NIRP (and where the Fed is aware of every single transaction).
And, before you ask, will there be substantial – and violent – opposition to the Fed’s mandatory conversion of cash to bitcoin? Of course. But that too certainly not stop the Fed, which fighting for the survival of trillions in legacy “wealth” would simply steamroll over anyone and anything courtesy of the US government’s armed backing (which has conclusively proven in recent years its function has metastasized to serve only the wealthiest corporations and Wall Street interests) to preserve such wealth, if only for a little longer.

HOUSTON, Texas — In a continuing cover-up by Child Protective Services (“CPS’) in Texas, Judge Keith Dean this week ordered the removal of a YouTube video produced by a 13-year-old boy that exposes the sexual and physical abuse that he and his brother endured while in CPS foster care. The video also reveals the 377-day nightmare suffered by him and his six siblings after they were ripped from their loving family and placed in four different foster care facilities out of county.
The mother told Breitbart Texas “they are trying to rake this abuse under the rug.”
Breitbart Texas has procured the YouTube video from a source outside the family.

The Illuminati Plan for European Genocide

THE ILLUMINATI  PLAN FOR EUROPEAN GENOCIDE

This article is a translation of a 2014 Italian article originally posted on Identità. -

JUNE 26TH 2015

Never have a people embraced their political and cultural demise with such complacency as the dimwitted denizens of Europe, North America and Australia.

Do not direct your resentment at immigrants who are just trying to better themselves, as our own ancestors did.

Direct your anger at our political and cultural leaders who, as agents of the central bankers, are colonizers and traitors.

The causes of mass migration are still cleverly concealed by the system and portrayed as inevitable by multicultural propaganda. ... What they want to present as an inevitable and spontaneous phenomenon is actually a deliberate long term plan to destroy the face of the continent.

PAN EUROPE

One of the main initiators of the process of European integration was the man who designed the genocide plan of the Peoples of Europe. The 'elite' consider him the founder of the European Union. His name is Richard Coudenhove Kalergi. His father was an Austrian diplomat named Heinrich von Coudenhove-Kalergi (with connections to the Byzantine family of the Kallergis) and his mother the Japanese Mitsu Aoyama...

In 1922, he founded the "Pan-European" movement in Vienna, which aimed to create a New World Order based on a federation of nations led by the United States. European integration would be the first step in creating a world government

Among the first supporters, including Czech politicians Tomáš Masaryk and Edvard Beneš and the banker Max Warburg, who invested the first 60,000 marks. The Austrian Chancellor Ignaz Seipel and the next president of Austria, Karl Renner, took the responsibility for leading the "Pan-European" movement. Later, French politicians, such as Léon Blum, Aristide Briand, Alcide De Gasperi, etc. joined.

With the rise of Fascism in Europe, the project was put on hold but after the Second World War,  thanks to the support of Winston Churchill, the Jewish Masonic Lodge B'nai B'rith and major newspapers like the New York Times, the plan was accepted by the United States 'Government'. The CIA later undertook the completion of the project.

THE ESSENCE OF THE KALERGI PLAN

In his book «Praktischer Idealismus», Kalergi indicates that the residents of the future "United States of Europe" will not be the People of the Old Continent, but products of miscegenation. He clearly states that the peoples of Europe should interbreed with Asians and colored races, thus creating a multinational flock with no quality and easily controlled by the ruling 'elite'. [ZAGAMI SAID IN THE ABOVE VIDEO THAT IMMIGRANTS GET MORE BENEFITS THEN THE ITALIANS..IS THIS NOT THE SAME AGENDA WITH THE OPEN SOUTHERN BORDER IN THE US?]

Kalergi eliminates nationhood and self determination using ethnic separatist movements and mass migration. In order for Europe to be controlled by an 'elite', he wants to turn people into one homogeneous mixed breed of Blacks, Whites and Asians. Who is is this 'elite', however? Kalergi is particularly illuminating on this:

The man of the future will be of mixed race. The races and classes of today will gradually disappear due to the elimination of space, time and prejudice. The Eurasian-Negroid race of the future, similar in appearance to the Ancient Egyptians, will replace the diversity of peoples and the diversity of individuals. Instead of destroying European Judaism, Europe, against her will, refined and educated this people, driving them to their future status as a leading nation through this artificial evolutionary process. It's not surprising that the people that escaped from the Ghetto-Prison became the spiritual nobility of Europe. Thus, the compassionate care given by Europe created a new breed of aristocrats. This happened when the European feudal aristocracy crashed because of the emancipation of the Jews [due to the actions taken by the French Revolution].

Although no textbook mentions Kalergi, his ideas are the guiding principles of the European Union. The belief that the peoples of Europe should be mixed with Africans and Asians, to destroy our identity and create a single mestizo race, is the basis of all community policies that aim to protect minorities. Not for humanitarian reasons, but because of the directives issued by the ruthless Regime that machinates the greatest genocide in history.

The Coudenhove-Kalergi European Prize is awarded every two years to Europeans who have excelled in promoting this criminal plan. Among those awarded with such a prize are Angela Merkel and Herman Van Rompuy.

The incitement to genocide is also the basis of the constant appeals of the United Nations that demands we accept millions of immigrants to address the low birth rates of the EU. According to a report published on January 2000 in «Population division» Review of the United Nations in New York, under the title "Immigration replacement: A solution to declining and aging population," Europe will need 159,000,000 migrants by 2015.

One wonders how they can estimate immigration with such accuracy if it were not a premeditated plan. It is certain that the low birth rate could easily be reversed with appropriate measures to support families. It is just as clear that it is the contribution of foreign genes do not protect our genetic heritage, but that it enables their disappearance.

The sole purpose of these measures is to completely distort our people, to turn them into a group of people without national, historical and cultural cohesion.
In short, the policies of the Kalergi plan was and still is, the basis of official government policies aimed at genocide of the Peoples of Europe through mass immigration.

G. Brock Chisholm, former director of the World Health Organization (OMS), said: "What people in all places have to do is to limit birthrates and promote mixed marriages (between different races).  This aims to create a single race in a world which will be directed by a central authority. " (the "New World Order")

CONCLUSION

If we look around us, the Kalergi plan seems to be fully realized. We face Europe's fusion with the Third World.

The plague of interracial marriage produces each year thousands of young people of mixed race: "The children of Kalergi». Under the dual pressures of misinformation and humanitarian stupefaction, promoted by the MSM, the Europeans are being taught to renounce their origin, to renounce their national, racial and cultural identity.

The servants of globalization are trying to convince us that to deny our identity is a progressive and humanitarian act that "racism" is wrong. It is necessary, now more than ever, to counter the lies of the System, to awaken the revolutionary spirit in Europeans. Every one must see this truth that European Integration amounts to genocide. We have no other option.  The alternative is national suicide.

Iceland Boycotts Israel

Iceland Boycotts Israel
September 18, 2015 in News by RBN

Freedom4um | Stephen Lendman

The whole world needs to follow Iceland’s lead. Its capital City of Reykjavik no longer will buy products made in Israel.
Its city council voted for boycott as long as it continues occupying Palestinian territory – a bold act deserving high praise, perhaps inspiring greater numbers of cities worldwide to follow suit, then maybe countries if enough effective popular resistance against its viciousness materializes.
Petitions in Britain and America to arrest Netanyahu attracted growing thousands of ordinary people – expressing justifiable anger against an apartheid state brutalizing Palestinians for not being Jewish.
Reykjavik Social Democratic Alliance councilwoman Bjork Vilhelmsdottir introduced the motion to boycott – her last action before retiring from politics, expressing support for long-suffering Palestinians, recognizing their self-determination right, free from Israeli oppression.
Left Green Alliance governing coalition member Soley Tomasdottir expressed hope Reykjavik’s action will be a step toward ending Israel’s illegal occupation. Boycotting other countries guilty of human rights abuses may follow, she said.
By acting, “we as a city council, even though we are a small city in the far north, are doing what we can to put pressure on the government of Israel to stop the occupation of Palestinian territory,” she told Icelandic public broadcaster RUV.
Israel reacted as expected. “A volcano of hatred is erupting in the Reykjavik city council,” blustered foreign ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon.
“There is no reason or justification for this move, besides hate itself, which is being heard in the form of calls for a boycott against Israel, the Jewish state,” he added.
“We hope that someone in Iceland will wake up and stop this blindness and one sidedness which is aimed against the only democracy in the Middle East, Israel.”
The move is largely symbolic, yet another BDS success. Its web site highlighted “a decade of effective solidarity with Palestinians,” citing the following:
A UN Conference on Trade and Development  (UNCTAD) report shows year-over-year direct foreign investment in Israel declined 46% in 2014.
UNCTAD’s Ronny Manos said “(w)e believe that what led to the drop in investment in Israel are Operation Protective Edge and the boycotts Israel is facing.”
French transnational company Veolia failed to win major contracts across Europe and in other countries because of its involvement in Israeli human rights abuses.
The University of Johannesburg cut ties to Israel’s Ben-Gurion University in response to boycott calls from 400 South African academics. Three-fourths of London’s SOAS University academics and students voted to back BDS.
Growing numbers of entertainers refuse to perform in Israel. Many academics decline to lecture there or participate in Israeli conferences. Thousands of professionals and activists support culturally boycotting Israel.
Over 30 US student associations and 11 in Canada voted to support BDS. Israel’s largest defense company Elbit Systems lost a major Brazilian contract. SodaStream closed its settlement factory.
The American Studies Association is the nation’s oldest and largest organization involved in the interdisciplinary study of US culture and history. It voted to boycott Israeli academic institutions.
Kuwait boycotted 50 companies profiting from Israel’s occupation. The African National Congress declared support for BDS. Sao Paulo Festival organizers ended a sponsorship arrangement with Israel.
Major European banks divested from Israeli companies. Community actions blocked Israeli ships from docking at world ports.
Israeli exporters are experiencing sales declines in Europe. Chile suspended a trade agreement with Israel following its summer 2014 Gaza aggression.
US churches are divesting from companies involved in Israel’s occupation. Its state owned Mekorot water company lost contracts in Argentina, Portugal and the Netherlands.
Over 500 European academics called for EU nations to boycott Israeli settlement products. Growing numbers of European city councils support BDS.
Citing Israeli “state terrorism,” Venezuela and Bolivia cut diplomatic ties. Norway refuses to sell it weapons.
These and numerous other examples of BDS effectiveness show growing world outrage against daily Israeli crimes too horrific to ignore, including against young Palestinian children.
They’re terrorized, brutalized, or murdered in cold blood. Defense for Children International- Palestine (DCIP) reported around 2,000 Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces in the past 15 years.
It blamed Israel’s “hyper-militarized environment” – calling its summer 2014 Operation Protective Edge a war on Gazan children. Over 550 died – 68% under age 12.
It blasted Israel’s judicial system for denying Palestinian children basic rights. It said conditions won’t improve until occupation ends.
Global BDS activism is the single most effective campaign against Israeli lawlessness. It hits hard where it hurts most – economically, as well as exposing its phony image as a democratic state. It highlights its apartheid viciousness.

Muslim migrants target nations with higher wages

(Can't you see that this could be Americans that can be going to Washington D.C. to CLAIM their America back with NO more Debt to pay as we have been the Creditors since 1933!)

Muslim migrants target nations with higher wages

Islam expert: 'And for what job are they being paid?'

migrants

An Islam expert is criticizing the extreme demands of mostly Muslim migrants from the Middle East who seek asylum in nations with the highest wages.
“And for what job are they being paid?” writes Islam expert Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch.
“Proving Europe’s multicultural bona fides?”
His retort came after the London Express reported migrants from Syria “are demanding they are allowed to go to Sweden or Finland because the terms of asylum are more favorable for them.”
The report quoted asylum seeker Marwen el Mohammed giving his reasons.
He said he wants to avoid Denmark because “the salary for refugees decreased about 50 percent from 10,000 kroner, about $1,500, to about 5,000 kroner.
Further, he said in the report, Finland and other countries allow families to join together “within two or three months,” but Denmark requires them to wait a year.
The Express report noted the Danish government “recently tightened immigration laws in the wake of thousands of migrants entering Europe seeking asylum.”
“Danish authorities agreed to cut social benefits for new refugees by 50 per cent while foreign nationals must wait at least five years for a permanent residence permit – and they must be able to speak Danish.”
Read what conservative icon Ann Coulter has to say about America’s borders, in “Adios, America!”
The moves are just part of Europe’s response to the tens of thousands of people fleeing Syria, where Muslim factions have been warring for years, and Libya, where Islamic gangs rule many regions.
Eurozone nations, including Hungary, Poland and Austria, are restoring border controls.
Meanwhile, U.S. national security officials have discussed boosting the projected number of refugees accepted from 70,000 in 2015 to 85,000 in 2016 and then 100,000 in 2017.
President Obama has called for cooperation from European countries on the migrant problem. The Department of Homeland Security and the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration say there is resistance to a flood of newcomers, and Democrats and Republicans are divided on the issue.
Democrats charge that the U.S. isn’t doing enough, while top GOP officials have warned that taking Syrian refugees creates a national security risk, as terror-seeking individuals may come to the country amid those who truly are fleeing violence.
ISIS has confirmed its intent to infiltrate the West through the flow of migrants.
The problems associated with mass migration, as WND also reported, have been aggravated by an epidemic of rape at Muslim-dominated refugee centers in Germany.
According to a document posted in German by Pamela Geller on her website, women are “assigned a subordinate role” and unaccompanied females are treated as “fair game.” Many of these women, according to the document, are fleeing “forced marriage” and/or “female genital mutilation.” The consequences are numerous rapes, sexual assaults and prostitution.
A report by France24 confirms the same tragic situation in Calais, France, where 3,000 migrants from the Middle East and Africa are crowded into a tent city awaiting passage to Britain.
“I’m surrounded by men,” the 22-year-old Syrian woman, Milad, told France24. “I don’t know anything about most of them. I don’t speak their language, I don’t know where they’re from and what they’ve lived through. So I have to be on my guard.”
Rep. McCaul, R-Texas, said Obama’s plans for tens of thousands of more Syrian refugees being brought to the U.S. “reckless and dangerous.”

Washington's prophecies: The evils of power

Washington's prophecies: The evils of power

Bill Federer recounts amazing predictions in first president's farewell address

George Washington kneeling in prayer
George Washington kneeling in prayer

“The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolken describes man’s insatiable lust for “the Ring of Power”: “Always remember Frodo, the Ring is trying to get back to its master. It wants to be found.”
Power wants to concentrate.
In a real sense, George Washington held that “Ring of Power” and gave it up … twice. The first time was when Washington resigned his commission as general of the Continental Army in 1783.
The American-born painter Benjamin West was in England painting the portrait of King George III. When the king asked what General Washington planned to do now that he had won the war, West replied: “They say he will return to his farm.”
King George exclaimed: “If he does that, he will be the greatest man in the world.”
The King was in disbelief as Washington’s actions were in stark contrast to kings throughout history who killed to get power and killed to keep power.
George Washington gave up power again when, after having served two terms as president, he returned to his Mount Vernon farm. This was similar to Roman leader Cincinnatus, who twice led the Roman republic to victory in battle then returned to his farm, resisting the temptation to be dictator.

The world stood amazed as President Washington delivered his farewell address, which was printed in the American Daily Advertiser, Sept. 19, 1796.
President Andrew Jackson commented on it in 1837: “The Father of his Country in his Farewell Address … Washington … seemed to be … the voice of prophecy, foretelling events and warning us of the evil to come. … It is well known that there have always been those amongst us who wish to enlarge the powers of the General Government … to overstep the boundaries marked out for it by the Constitution.”
In his farewell address, Washington cautioned of dangers:
  • Unprincipled men usurp reins of government. “And of fatal tendency … to put, in the place of the delegated will of the Nation, the will of a party; – often a small but artful and enterprising minority. … They are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the Power of the People and to usurp for themselves the reins of Government; destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion. …”
  • Party politics. “Let me now … warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of Party. … This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its roots in the strongest passions of the human Mind. … It is seen in its greatest rankness and is truly their worst enemy. … Domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to party dissention, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. …”
  • Despotism of an individual. “But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an Individual … (who) turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty. … Ill founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. …”
  • Foreign influence. “It opens the doors to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the Government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country, are subjected to the policy and will of another. …”
  • Encroachment. “The habits of thinking in a free Country should inspire caution in those entrusted with its administration, to confine themselves within their respective Constitutional spheres; avoiding in the exercise of the Powers of one department to encroach upon another. The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one, and thus to create, whatever the form of government, a real despotism. A just estimate of that love of power, and proneness to abuse it, which predominates the human heart is sufficient to satisfy us of the truth of this position. …”
  • Checks on political power. “The necessity of reciprocal checks in the exercise of political power; by dividing and distributing it into different depositories, and constituting each the Guardian of the Public Weal against invasions by the others, has been evinced by experiments ancient and modern. …”
  • Usurpation. “If in the opinion of the People … Constitutional powers be in any way particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way which the Constitution designates. But let there be no change by usurpation; for though this, in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed. The precedent (of usurpation) must always greatly overbalance in permanent evil any partial or transient benefit which the use can at any time yield. …”
  • Accumulation of debt. “Avoiding likewise the accumulation of debt, not only by shunning occasions of expense, but by vigorous exertions in time of Peace to discharge the Debts which unavoidable wars may have occasioned, not ungenerously throwing upon posterity the burden which we ourselves ought to bear. …”
  • Foreign attachments. “In the execution of such a plan nothing is more essential than that permanent … attachments for other (countries) should be excluded. … The Nation, which indulges towards another … an habitual fondness, is in some degree a slave … subservient to projects of hostility instigated by pride, ambition and other sinister and pernicious motives. A passionate attachment of one Nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favourite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest, in cases where no real common interest exist, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and Wars of the latter, without adequate inducement or justification. …”
  • Betrayal. “By exciting jealousy, ill-will, and a disposition to retaliate, in the parties from whom equal privileges are withheld: And it gives to ambitious, corrupted, or deluded citizens … facility to betray, or sacrifice the interests of their own country, without odium, sometimes even with popularity: gilding with the appearances of a virtuous sense of obligation, a commendable deference for public opinion, or a laudable zeal for public good, the base or foolish compliances of ambition, corruption or infatuation. …”
  • Mislead public opinion. “As avenues to foreign influence in innumerable ways, such attachments are particularly alarming to the truly enlightened and independent Patriot. How many opportunities do they afford to tamper with domestic factions, to practice the arts of seduction, to mislead public opinion, to influence or awe the public Councils. … Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence, (I conjure you to believe me fellow citizens) the jealously of a free people to be constantly awake. … History and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of Republican Government. …”
  • Patriots become suspect. “Real Patriots, who may resist the intrigues of the favorite (foreign nation), are liable to become suspected and odious; while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests. … In offering to you, my Countrymen these counsels of an old and affectionate friend, I dare not hope they will make the strong and lasting impression, I could wish … to warn against the mischiefs of foreign Intriegue. …”
  • Religion and morality. “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism who should labor to subvert these great Pillars. … Let us with caution indulge the supposition that Morality can be maintained without Religion. … Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national Morality can prevail in exclusion of Religious principle. … Morality is a necessary spring of popular government. … Who that is a sincere friend to it can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation?”

The FED is at that rock and a hard place moment. If they had raised rates, gold would have EXPLODED. They didn,t, so gold merely increased smartly.

Labor Leader Corbyn blames Britain and the US for the rise of ISIS
by Daily Mail | September 18, 2015

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has risked sparking fresh controversy after blaming the rise of ISIS on Britain and the United States.
The veteran anti-war campaigner said ISIS hadn’t ‘come from nowhere’ and was partly ‘a creation of Western interventions in the region’.
Mr Corbyn, 66, said attacking the fanatical group would only make things worse and instead claimed Britain would be safer it if declared that it supported the ‘diversity of faith and diversity of aspirations around the world’.
The remarks round off a turbulent week for Mr Corbyn after overseeing chaotic cabinet reshuffle culminating in a public u-turn over Labour’s position on the European Union.
Mr Corbyn was roundly condemned on Tuesday for refusing to sing the national anthem at a memorial to Battle of Britain heroes.

The veteran socialist, speaking to the obscure website ‘Middle East Eye’, said Labour needed to stick to its ‘principles’ and vowed to stay on as Labour leader for the next five years.
But he risks a major rebellion over a proposed vote on extending the military action against ISIS into Syria.

The Prime Minister has called for a ‘political consensus’ in favour of authorising military strikes before calling a vote in Parliament.

Texas Town Experiences 61% Drop in Crime After Firing Their Police Department

Texas Town Experiences 61% Drop in Crime After Firing Their Police Department

town-fires-police-department-crime-drops

Sharpstown, TX — Sharpstown is a Texas community, located just southwest of Houston, and the way they maintain security in this community has gotten our attention.
In 2012, they fired their cops.
The Sharpstown Civic Association then hired S.E.A.L. Security Solutions, a private firm, to patrol their streets.
The statist fearmongers will have you believe that “privatizing” anything would result in mass chaos and a Mad Max scenarios of warlords and rampant crime. But they are wrong.
“Since we’ve been in there, an independent crime study that they’ve had done [indicates] we’ve reduced the crime by 61%” in just 20 months, says James Alexander, Director of Operations for SEAL.
Government police, despite not acting like it, are still part of the government.  This means that any progressive change for the better takes ten times longer than it would in the private sector; if it happens at all. Government police are not driven by efficiency and threats from liability, as neither one of these things are needed when you have a tax farm to rob when things get tight.
Contrary to the government apparatus, private police, must be efficient as well as safe, for one small mistake or claim could end their entire operation. If an inefficiency is spotted within the system, changes must be implemented swiftly to avoid the loss of revenue.
The reason for the success rate of SEAL Security is that they can see a problem and quickly adapt versus trying to spin the rusty cogs of the bureaucratic process. And that is exactly what SEAL did in Sharpstown.
According to guns.com, Alexander cites the continuous patrol of SEAL’s officers in their assigned neighborhoods as opposed to the strategy of intermittent presence that the constable embraced. “On a constable patrol contract, it’s either a 70/30 or an 80/20. Meaning they say they patrol your community 70 percent of the time, [while] 30 percent of the time they use for running calls out of your area or writing reports.”
He continues, “The second thing that drastically reduces the crime is that we do directed patrols, meaning we don’t just put an officer out there and say  ‘here, go patrol.’ We look at recent crime stats, and we work off of those crime stats. So if we have hotspots in those areas say for that month, we focus and concentrate our efforts around those hotspots.”
Another aspect, and possibly the most important, that sets privatized police apart from agents of the state, is that they have a negative incentive to initiate force. Force and violence are vastly more expensive than today’s police lead us to believe.
Causing injury or death, or wrongfully depriving someone of their rights is very expensive if these costs are realized for the ones who cause them. The state does not care, however. They can and will defer their liability to the tax farm.
The act of deferment of liability is a function solely reserved for the state, and it creates an incentive to act in an unethical manner. In the case of SEAL Security, each of their officers, as well as their entire operation, can be held liable, both criminally and financially. This is something about which the state knows nothing.
As guns.com points out, over 70 communities in Harris County and most of the major management districts have contracted with SEAL. They’re less expensive, better at crime prevention, they do not target citizens for revenue, and, best of all, each officer is personally accountable for his or her actions.
It’s time Americans start seriously considering this option.
Law enforcement is a product that we are forced to buy. When any product is not subject to the forces of consumer demand, there is no way of changing it. It is time we applied the fundamental lesson of competition to our supposed protectors.
