Bill Gates has a warning for humanity: Beware of artificial intelligence in the coming decades, before it's too late.
Microsoft's co-founder joins a list of science and industry notables, including famed physicist Stephen Hawking and Internet innovator Elon Musk, in calling out the potential threat from machines that can think for themselves. Gates shared his thoughts on AI on Wednesday in a Reddit "AskMeAnything" thread, a Q&A session conducted live on the social news site that has also featured President Barack Obama and World Wide Web founder Tim Berners-Lee.
"I am in the camp that is concerned about super intelligence," Gates said in response to a question about the existential threat posed by AI. "First, the machines will do a lot of jobs for us and not be super intelligent. That should be positive if we manage it well. A few decades after that, though, the intelligence is strong enough to be a concern."
Gates, who is co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, isn't the only one worried. Musk, the billionaire inventor and founder of SpaceX and CEO of electric car maker Tesla Motors, is not an expert in AI. But he did join a growing list of hundreds of researchers and professors in the field who signed an open letter earlier this month that proposed proper safeguards be put in place to research and develop such intelligence without humans losing control.
"I agree with Elon Musk and some others on this and don't understand why some people are not concerned," Gates said.

Fearing the worst

The reason they're worried is that AI isn't science fiction anymore. In stories and movies, AI is often presented as a good idea gone horribly wrong. In "The Matrix" movie trilogy, machines deem humanity a threat and enslave people in a virtual existence so they can feed off the electricity generated by the human body. When the Skynet computer system in "The Terminator" movie series becomes sentient, it wages a multiyear war using human-like robots designed to kill. HAL 9000, the socio-pathic supercomputer from "2001: A Space Odyssey," is now a cinematic icon -- HAL's robotic tone and malevolent quotes have become pop culture tropes.
Back in the real world, Apple's voice-based personal assistant Siri may seem a little dumb now, but AI is getting smarter as researchers develop ways to let machines teach themselves and mine the deep trove of data produced by our many connected gadgets. IBM's Watson supercomputer has moved on from besting Jeopardy contestants to conducting medical research and diagnosis, and researchers earlier this month detailed a new computer program that can beat anyone at poker. A need to worry? Of course not, but Gates and others are trying to imagine the worst.
Musk in October called AI development "summoning the demon," and has invested in the space to keep his eye on it. Hawking, writing for The Independent in May 2014, also expressed his concerns. "Whereas the short-term impact of AI depends on who controls it, the long-term impact depends on whether it can be controlled at all," Hawking wrote.

In our post-Vietnam era, America vowed to never under appreciate the sacrifices of the men and women in uniform. However, the nation’s undying gratitude seems to be evaporating. Since Obama has become the President, the military has suffered through several years of staggering cuts in funding and tens of thousands of military personnel have been shown the door.  Many of these cuts are being visited upon military personnel who were near retirement.  After 13 years of being embroiled in war, many soldiers feel that that military has been set adrift and lost all direction and purpose. Upon further examination, it is clear that Obama’s mission with regard to our military is to dismantle and destroy its fighting effectiveness, bit by bit.

Low Morale: Overworked, Underpaid and Undervalued

The Military Times recently ran a survey of active-duty troops who have subsequently reported a stunning decline in how soldiers rated their overall quality of life. Prior to Obama, 91% of the troops reported their quality of life to be good or excellent. In the most recent survey, only 56% still refer to their military lives good or excellent.

According to the survey, before Obama became President, 85% of the troops would recommend a military career to others. Today, that number has dropped to 73%.  Re-enlistment rates have declined by 9% (72% to 63%), despite the horrendous domestic job market.

Leave no man behind, right Mr. President?

U.S. marine, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi. Tahmooressi was imprisoned by Mexican authorities in March of 2014 after accidentally straying into Mexican territory while driving along a poorly lit section of the border and was found to be in possession of firearms, illegal under Mexican law, but was permitted under United States law. Obama allowed Sgt. Tahmooressi to rot in a Mexican prison for over 6 months without mounting a serious effort to seek his return. This has a deleterious impact on morale due to a President who would leave him behind. Is this case a deliberate attack upon the morale of American soldiers by this President?

Obama Is Compromising the Most Important Weapons System In the Navy

The Russians are increasing the size of their nuclear submarine fleet at the same time we are reducing. Why?

Under the direction of the Pentagon, via Obama, the U.S. Navy’s shipbuilding plan would see its attack submarine fleet diminish from 55 to 41 boats over the next 15 years. Meanwhile, Russia and China are increasing the size of their nuclear submarine fleet. The American attack submarines are the great equalizer with regard to the comparative inferior size of the American military. Obama is taking away one of the cornerstones of the American military defense strategy.  As The Weekly Standard so adeptly said that “this is a disaster in the making”.

The Obama administration announced that they were seeking to reduce the size of the U.S. military to 490,000  (pre-WW II levels), then the number was to be reduced to 450,000. Presently, the Obama administration seeks to drop the number to 420,000 troops.

The chief of staff of the Army, General Ray Odierno, with regard to Obama’s cut in American troops, “The world is changing in front of us. We have seen Russian aggression in Europe, we have seen ISIS, we have seen increased stability in other places.”

When you have a President who has more than doubled the budget deficit, one has to wonder why this President is so hell-bent on weakening the military?

While I flippantly ask why doesn’t Obama simply scrap the infantry and bring back Larry Storch and F-Troop, Let’s consider that this is pure military suicide given the present state of affairs.

Speaking of military suicide, does Obama hold dear his fiduciary duty to protect the people of the United States, or is he solely beholding to corporate interests? Due to the escalating tensions with Russia over the CIA’s meddling and aggression in Ukraine, Obama’s actions have generated some very serious national security  concerns inside the military. This is due to the fact that the U.S. military’s largest satellite program is completely dependent upon a rocket engine produced by Russia. In a Cold War setting, which could go hot at any moment, what kind of President would not have looked for technological alternatives to the 180 rocket engines for its Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle program.

In war, the U.S. military is totally dependent upon satellite surveillance for success on the battlefield. Without this component of warfare, the U.S. military would be overwhelmed by the numerically superior forces of China and Russia. Is this a case of stupidity or treason on Obama’s part?

Dismantling the Leadership of the American Military

Since assuming the Presidency, Obama has fired approximately 260 senior command officers. Since a near state of war exists between the U.S. and Russia/China, it is an outrageous act of incredible stupidity to dismantle the leadership of your fighting force which could be thrown into World War III in a moment’s notice! Again, I ask, is this stupidity or treason?

With regard to the mass military firings of senior command military officers, retired Army Major General Paul Vallely stated that “The White House protects their own. That’s why they stalled on the investigation into fast and furious, Benghazi and Obamacare. He’s intentionally weakening and gutting our military, Pentagon and reducing us as a superpower, and anyone in the ranks who disagrees or speaks out is being purged.”

The current President not only leaves young marines behind to rot in a Mexican jail, he prevents the military from rescuing an American ambassador!

Here are two examples of Obama’s handiwork when it comes to firing senior command officers. While Ambassador Stevens compound was under attack, on September 11, 2012, General Carter Ham, commander of AFRICOM and Admiral Gaouette attempted a rescue of the ambassador in violation of Presidential orders. Both men were summarily fired for attempting the rescue on trumped up charges.

Gaouette was in charge of Air Craft Carriers in the Mediterranean Sea the night of Stevens death and he subsequently testified to Congress that he could have rescued Stevens.  The admiral was accused of using profanity in a public setting and was forced to resign his commission.

What kind of President blocks an attempted rescue of an American ambassador who is under attack by so-called terrorists?

Obama has further weakened the backbone of entire national defense system, our nuclear weapons program leadership. This is reckless, unneeded and unprecedented.

The Burden of Empire

We have apparently learned nothing about the demise of Britain and Rome. The American military is everywhere, but can defend nothing against a serious foe. The U.S. military is overstretched as it covers more ground, tackles more issues and is involved (actively or passively) in more combat areas than at any point since the Cold War.

“In 2013, Africa Command carried out 546 military activities in Africa, an increase of over 200% since the command was established in 2008. The U.S. military is now involved in more than 90% of Africa’s 54 nations”.

The U.S. military has bases in 64 countries. We are defending more with far less.

Conclusion

This is a story which writes its own conclusion. This is an epitaph to the once mighty American military. We, the rank and file Americans, may not like the insidious manner in which we have carried out our foreign policy with the needless murder of millions around the world. This is true, however, a weakened American military puts all Americans at risk. It is difficult to believe that this is not the deliberate agenda of President Obama.

The long-anticipated collapse of the euro is here. When European Central Bank president Mario Draghi unveiled an open-ended quantitative easing program worth at least 60 billion euros a month on Thursday, stocks soared but the euro plummeted like a rock.  It hit an 11 year low of $1.13, and many analysts believe that it is going much, much lower than this.  The speed at which the euro has been falling in recent months has been absolutely stunning.  Less than a year ago it was hovering near $1.40.  But since that time the crippling economic problems in southern Europe have gone from bad to worse, and no amount of money printing is going to avert the financial nightmare that is slowly unfolding right before our eyes.  Yes, there may be some temporary euphoria for a few days, but it is important to remember that reckless money printing worked for the Weimar Republic for a little while too before it turned into an utter disaster.  Now that the ECB has decided to go this route, it is essentially out of ammunition.  The only thing that it could potentially do beyond this is to print even larger quantities of money.  As the global financial crisis begins to unfold over the next couple of years, the ECB is pretty much going to be powerless to do anything about it.  Over the next couple of months, we can expect the euro to continue to head toward parity with the U.S. dollar, and eventually it is going to go to all-time lows.  Meanwhile, the future of the eurozone itself is very much in doubt.  If it does break up, the elite of Europe will probably try to put it back together in some sort of new configuration, but the damage will already have been done.

Over the next 18 months, the European Central bank will create more than a trillion euros out of thin air and will use that money to buy debt.  The following is how this new QE program for Europe was described by the Telegraph…

“The combined monthly purchases of public and private sector securities will amount to €60bn euros,” said Mr Draghi at a press conference following a meeting of the ECB’s governing council.

“They are intended to be carried out until end-September 2016 and will in any case be conducted until we see a sustained adjustment in the path of inflation,” he added, meaning the package will amount to at least €1.1 trillion.

Mr Draghi’s package of asset purchases, including bonds issued by national governments and EU institutions such as the European Commission, is intended to boost the eurozone’s flagging economy and to ward off the spectre of deflation.

When you print more money, you drive down the value of your currency.  And the euro has already been crashing for months as you can see from the chart below…

As I write this, the euro is down to $1.13.  And most analysts seem to agree that it is likely heading even lower.

How low could it ultimately go?

One prominent currency strategist recently told CNBC that he believes that it is actually heading beneath parity with the U.S. dollar…

The euro plunged to an 11-year low on Thursday, after the European Central Bank announced that it would begin a 60-euro monthly asset purchasing program. But it could still have a ways to fall.

Brown Brothers Harriman global head of currency strategy Marc Chandler predicts that the euro, which fell as low as 1.1362 on Thursday after trading near 1.4000 in May, is heading below 1.0. That widely watched level is the point at which it will just take a single U.S. dollar to purchase a euro, a condition known in the currency markets as “parity.”

I totally agree with Chandler.

In fact, I believe that the euro is ultimately going to break the all-time record low against the dollar.

I also believe that the current configuration of the eurozone is eventually going to fall to pieces.  The euro may survive as a currency, but Europe is ultimately going to look a whole lot different than it does right now.

In fact, we could see things start to come apart for the eurozone as soon as Sunday.  If Syriza wins a decisive victory in the upcoming Greek elections, it could create all sorts of chaos…

The polls put Alexis Tsipras and Syriza ahead of the ruling New Democracy party of Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

Tsipras has vowed to convince the ECB and euro zone to write down the value of their Greek debt holdings to allow him to increase public spending and stimulate job growth.

“There is a good chance they could win, and if they begin moving away from fiscal austerity, other members of the EU are going to say: ‘No more lending, no more life support.’ On Monday morning you’ll know,” De Clue said.

But of course Europe is far from alone.  Financial problems are erupting all over the planet, and central banks are getting desperate.

Over the past week, seven major central banks have made moves to fight deflation.  But the more that they cut interest rates and print money, the less effect that it has.  And eventually, the people of the world are going to seriously lose confidence in these central banks as they realize what a sham the system really is.

I think that these recent words from Marc Faber are very wise…

“My belief is that the big surprise this year is that investor confidence in central banks collapses. And when that happens — I can’t short central banks, although I’d really like to, and the only way to short them is to go long gold, silver and platinum,” he said. “That’s the only way. That’s something I will do.”

Results from IDC Energy Insights’ Worldwide Quarterly Smart Meter Tracker found that worldwide smart meter shipments in the fourth quarter of 2011 grew 11.8% over the previous quarter and were up 23.8% when compared to the fourth quarter of 2010. The firm expects annual smart meter shipments to surpass 140 million units worldwide by 2016, up from 25.4 million in 2011. This represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 32.9% over the 2011 to 2016 forecast period.

While IDC Energy Insights expects developing markets to drive smart meter growth through 2016, the revival of the Canadian market and an uptick in shipments to Central and Eastern Europe were the primary drivers in the closing quarter of 2011. In 2012, smart meter shipments in Europe are expected to accelerate as country-level planning continues to progress and the pathway towards the European Commission’s “20-20-20″ targets finally begins to materialize. Shipments will also ramp up significantly in the Asia/Pacific region as the massive markets in China and India begin to integrate advanced metering infrastructure. The Japanese market is also gaining momentum with the renewed focus on conservation in the wake of Fukushima, while utilities in Oceana are learning to manage the consumer backlash that emerged from previous deployments.

As the smart metering industry moves through 2016, the firm anticipates that activity will shift from North America and Europe to the developing world. This shift will be accompanied by an evolution to meet a new set of market needs. Dean Chuang, senior research analyst on the IDC Energy Insights Trackers team, notes “Local deployment patterns are beginning to emerge in the global smart metering industry. Each market and each utility has different needs and different intentions for their AMI system. Smart meter vendors are developing a wide array of solutions to fit the needs of each market.”

Russia In The Cross Hairs. Washington’s Threats have moved Into the Realm of Insanity

Washington’s attack on Russia has moved beyond the boundary of the absurd into the realm of insanity.

The New Chief of the US Broadcasting Board of Governors, Andrew Lack, has declared the Russian news service, RT, which broadcasts in multiple languages, to be a terrorist organization equivalent to Boko Haram and the Islamic State, and Standard and Poor’s just downgraded Russia’s credit rating to junk status.

Today RT International interviewed me about these insane developments.

In prior days when America was still a sane country, Lack’s charge would have led to him being laughed out of office. He would have had to resign and disappear from public life. Today in the make-believe world that Western propaganda has created, Lack’s statement is taken seriously. Yet another terrorist threat has been identified–RT. (Although both Boko Haram and the Islamic State employ terror, strictly speaking they are political organizations seeking to rule, not terror organizations, but this distinction would be over Lack’s head. Yes, I know. There is a good joke that could be made here about what Lack lacks. Appropriately named and all that.)

Nevertheless, whatever Lack might lack, I doubt he believes his nonsensical statement that RT is a terrorist organization. So what is his game?

The answer is that the Western presstitute media by becoming Ministries of Propaganda for Washington, have created large markets for RT, Press TV, and Al Jazeera. As more and more of the peoples of the world turn to these more honest news sources, Washington’s ability to fabricate self-serving explanations has declined.

RT in particular has a large Western audience. The contrast between RT’s truthful reporting and the lies spewed by US media is undermining Washington’s control of the explanation. This is no longer acceptable.

Lark has sent a message to RT. The message is: pull in your horns; stop reporting differently from our line; stop contesting the facts as Washington states them and the presstitutes report them; get on board or else.

In other words, the “free speech” that Washington and its EU, Canadian, and Australian puppet states tout means: free speech for Washington’s propaganda and lies, but not for any truth. Truth is terrorism, because truth is the major threat to Washington.

Washington would prefer to avoid the embarrassment of actually shutting down RT as its UK vassal did to Press TV. Washington simply wants to shut up RT. Lark’s message to RT is: self-censure.

In my opinion, RT already understates in its coverage and reporting as does Al Jazeera. Both news organizations understand that they cannot be too forthright, at least not too often or on too many occasions.

I have often wondered why the Russian government allows 20 percent of the Russian media to function as Washington’s fifth column inside Russia. I suspect the reason is that by tolerating Washington’s blatant propaganda inside Russia, the Russian government hopes that some factual news can be reported in the US via RT and other Russian news organizations.

These hopes, like other Russian hopes about the West, are likely to be disappointed in the end. If RT is closed down or assimilated into the Western presstitute media, nothing will be said about it, but if the Russian government closes down Washington’s agents, blatant liars all, in the Russian media, we will hear forever about the evil Russians suppressing “free speech.” Remember, the only allowable “free speech” is Washington’s propaganda.

Only time will tell whether RT decides to be closed down for telling the truth or whether it adds its voice to Washington’s propaganda.

The other item in the interview was the downgrading of Russian credit to junk status.

Standard and Poor’s downgrade is, without any doubt, a political act. It proves what we already know, and that is that the American rating firms are corrupt political operations. Remember the Investment Grade rating the American rating agencies gave to obvious subprime junk? These rating agencies are paid by Wall Street, and like Wall Street they serve the US government.

A look at the facts serves to establish the political nature of the ruling. Don’t expect the corrupt US financial press to look at the facts. But right now, we will look at the facts.

With growing inequality and riots such as those in London in 2011 and in Ferguson and other parts of the USA last year, many financial leaders fear they could become targets for public fury.

Robert Johnson, president of the Institute of New Economic Thinking, told people at the World Economic Forum in Davos that many hedge fund managers were already planning their escapes.

He said: “I know hedge fund managers all over the world who are buying airstrips and farms in places like New Zealand because they think they need a getaway.”

His comments were backed up by Stewart Wallis, executive director of the New Economics Foundation, who when asked about the comments told CNBC Africa: “Getaway cars the airstrips in New Zealand and all that sort of thing, so basically a way to get off. If they can get off, onto another planet, some of them would.”

This is a good summary of what is going on in the physical sense. In the greater sense of the community and environment around us, there have been decisive and astonishing moves made. No one in the Cabal expected this. Even with their tech that lets them see into potential futures, this one wasn’t there.

Some of the events that are now happening were foreseen, but not for another year. Everything has sped up dramatically. The Cabal does believe, and has been taught, that they must experience a full disclosure and apparent defeat. Only then will their Gods appear to rescue them and fulfill their prophecies.

Yet, what we are now seeing is that the entire solar system has been put on lockdown. Everyone is quarantined. No one can get in, no one can get out, and no communications can get in or out either. This may not be a big deal for a hyper-advanced civilization, but it has been a game changer.
Furthermore, in just the last 3 weeks, virtually ALL offensive weapon capabilities, including the most secret ones, have been taken offline and / or destroyed. This includes secret SDI stuff, nukes, you name it.

This is coming from several new insider sources that have appeared and proven to be highly reliable. The Cabal obviously sees this as a tremendous mess and a terrible threat. My take on it, as well as everyone else’s, is that this is a precursor to major events happening on earth.

It would have been impossible to expose and defeat the Cabal without these things happening, as they would have tried to take everyone out with them. The stakes are very high and I will piss people off just by mentioning this as vaguely as I am now. Let’s just say it is a vastly complex and amazing story, and people within this world have had their minds completely blown.

So things are looking very, very interesting.

The other thing I should say about the “lockdown” is that any Cabal members trying to get out of here, such as by ship, are actually being shot down. There have been a variety of reports of strange meteors and atmospheric phenomena and the clean-up crews have been very busy.

I know it sounds like sci-fi. I wish you could read my mind but I have strong reservations about saying too much right now. There are several things I find extremely exciting. Let’s just say the Snowden “documents” are vastly, vastly deeper than anything we have seen so far. He got EVERYTHING.

Why the rest hasn’t been revealed yet, no one knows, other than that it appears the alliance has a sequential process in mind.

The Cabal symbolism of the phoenix is a calling card for them, in part because their religion stipulates that they have to be defeated. They die in physical form but their agenda lives on. So they believe.

I can say that everyone in middle and upper levels of the “Illuminati” who know about what is going right now are extremely concerned. Actually terrified, like never before.

I do not want to see harm come to these people and therefore I’m not gloating about this. I will say that if high level people are executed, they will very likely remain extremely defiant and macho right up to the moment they hang, just like we saw with Saddam.

We do know that the Nazis won in the space program sense, and early along, as in early 20th century, they cut a deal with the Dracos — i.e. the Reptilians and the various civilizations like them that they conquered — for protection. The people “in the know” have now said that the defeat of the reptilians is a CERTAINTY. There are many still trapped in our solar system, but they can’t get out, their allies can’t get in, and they have no communications. Thus they are extremely fearful.

I have been absorbing new insider info at a faster speed and greater volume than ever in my life lately. There is so much it is beyond my ability to even begin to summarize all of it right now. I have just shared some of the most interesting and most significant bits for our immediate present.

In order for the ETs who are doing this to have accomplished this, it was required for them to have constructed a completely alternate parallel reality that people were living and working in, and that appeared to be our real future.

I told people at the highest levels that this was what was going on. I was told it was “impossible” and no one believed me. Yet now, events they expected in 2016-2017, as in “Grand Culmination” type stuff, are happening RIGHT NOW.

Life has gotten VERY interesting lately. I had literally twelve hours of insider conversation in a row as of Friday alone.
