New research from the University of
Southampton has shown that copper can prevent horizontal transmission of genes,
which has contributed to the increasing number of antibiotic-resistant
infections worldwide.
Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) in bacteria is
largely responsible for the development of antibiotic-resistance, which has led
to an increasing number of difficult-to-treat healthcare-associated infections
(HCAIs).
The newly-published paper, which appears in
the journal mBio, shows that while HGT can take place in the environment, on
frequently-touched surfaces, such as door handles, trolleys and tables, which
are made from stainless steel - copper prevents this process from occurring and
rapidly kills bacteria on contact.
Lead author Professor Bill Keevil, Chair in
Environmental Healthcare at the University of Southampton, explains:
"Whilst studies have focussed on HGT in vivo (an experiment that is done
in the body of a living organism), this work investigates whether the ability
of pathogens to persist in the environment, particularly on touch surfaces, may
also play an important role. Here we show prolonged survival of multidrug
resistant Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae on stainless steel surfaces
for several weeks.
However, rapid death of both
antibiotic-resistant strains and destruction of plasmid and genomic DNA was
observed on copper and copper alloy surfaces, which could be useful in the
prevention of infection spread and gene transfer."
Showing that horizontal transmission of genes
(for example, those governing antibiotic resistance) occurs on touch surfaces,
supports the important role of the environment in infection prevention.
Professor Keevil summarises: "We know
many human pathogens survive for long periods in the hospital environment and
can lead to infection, expensive treatment, blocked beds and death.
"What we have shown in this work is the
potential for strategically-placed antimicrobial copper touch surfaces to not
only break the chain of contamination, but also actively reduce the risk of
antibiotic resistance developing at the same time. Provided adequate cleaning
continues in critical environments, copper can be employed as an important
additional tool in the fight against pathogens."
Beyond the healthcare environment, copper
also has a wider role to play in infection control. Professor Keevil explains:
"Copper touch surfaces have promise for preventing antibiotic resistance
transfer in public buildings and mass transportation systems, which lead to
local and - in the case of jet travel - rapid worldwide dissemination of
multi-drug resistant superbugs as soon as they appear.
"People with inadequate hand hygiene
could exchange their bugs and different antibiotic resistance genes just by
touching a stair rail or door handle, ready to be picked up by someone else and
passed on. Copper substantially reduces and restricts the spread of these
infections, making an important contribution to improved hygiene and,
consequently, health."
Installations of copper touch surfaces have
already taken place across the UK and around the world, harnessing copper's
ability to continuously reduce bioburden and consequently the risk of HCAI
transmission.
This research offers additional evidence to
deploy copper (and copper-containing alloys that benefit from the metal's
antimicrobial properties) in the form of touch surfaces to provide extra
protection alongside standard hygiene practices.

The originally proposed 13th Amendment was not properly ratified. This
is not the conclusion that I wanted share with you, but in the process of
doing my research I have discovered some compelling evidence that has caused
me to come to this conclusion. Read the following evidence and draw your own
conclusion.
Vermont was not a state when the Bill of Rights was presented to the
states for ratification. Vermont became a state on March 4, 1791 and voted to
ratify the Bill of Rights in November of 1791. Louisiana was not a state when
the proposed 13th Amendment was submitted to the states for ratification.
Before Vermont became a state there were 13 states and 10 states would have
been required to achieve a three fourths majority. After Vermont was admitted
there were 14 states and 11 states would have been necessary for
ratification. Before Louisiana was admitted as a new state, there were 17
states and 13 of the states would need to ratify the amendment. After
Louisiana was admitted there were 18 states and 14 would have been necessary
to ratify the proposed amendment. Based upon this premise, the 13th Amendment
was not properly ratified. If you disagree would you explain why Vermont was
eligible to vote on ratification and Louisiana was not.
Louisiana did not participate in the ratification process. In order for
the amendment to be properly ratified it would have needed the approval of 14
states. As a matter of fact the amendment was not even discussed by the
Louisiana State Legislature. The Constitution does not require states to vote
for or against ratification, it only demands the approval of three fourths of
the states.

I, Gene Hackemack, received this email from my good friend Tedd
Petruna. He is, a diver at the NBL (Neutral Buoyancy Lab) facility at
NASA Houston . I used to work with Tedd who happened to be on the
AirTran Flight 297, from Atlanta to Houston .
"One week ago, I went to Ohio on business and to see my father. On
Tuesday, the 17th, I returned home. If you read the papers the 18th
you may have seen a blurb about where an Air Tran flight was canceled
from Atlanta to Houston due to a man who refused to get off of his cell
phone before take- off. The story was only on Fox News. That was NOT
what really happened.
I was seated in 1st class coming home. Eleven Muslim men got on the
plane in full Muslim attire. Two of them sat in 1st class and the rest
seated themselves throughout the plane, in coach class, all the way to
the back.. As the plane taxied out to the runway, the stewardesses gave
the safety spiel that we are all so familiar with.
At that time, one of the men, in 1st class, got on his cell and called
one of his companions back in coach. He proceeded to talk on the
phone in Arabic very loudly and very, very aggressively. This activity

Hello
dear ones, I come before you today, on this auspicious day, one of many to
come. I beseech you to Be with and gather all you can of Creator’s Divine
Love, to absorb it and sift it and spread it through your Heart and out to
all your fellow Beings and the Earth Mother.
Oh,
these are glorious days, where you have such an opportunity to lift your
spirits to untold heights, dear ones. The energies are building and showering
you. Stop and be still many times in the day and welcome it, for this is your
opportunity for complete transformation. Yes, you have heard this, but we
want to be sure that the next eleven days have your complete attention.
In
your preparations for 12-12-12, be sure and pay attention to any thoughts of
unity and connection to your fellow Beings and Earth. Wrap it all in a ball
of Light and hold it in your Heart and expand with it. Feel the Abundance and
Joy and Love that all are beginning to experience and make a prayer for all
to experience it to the “nth” degree. Go bigger. Go larger. Go lighter. Go
brighter. You bring everyone along with you that way.
You
know we are all One. Any thoughts of separateness and competition are leaving
your world. Make it so “24/7”. Consider everyone, even Gaia, as a cell in
your body, as you are a cell in theirs. All cells work together to complete
and enhance the whole and you are beginning to fathom the magnitude of the
benefits of everyone thinking that way. “One for all, and all for one”, as
they say. A pulsing, vibrating organism, you are, that is part of a pulsing
vibrating organism with all parts being vital and necessary to the peace and
abundance and well-being of the Whole.
Savor
this feeling. It will make you come alive. It will feed you. It will change
the world forever more. Add to that your global meditations for the complete
well-being, cooperation, peace, abundance, freedom and happiness of all,
working in unity to build New Earth, working for the greater good of all, and
you have a powerful combination. You know this. Now make it part and parcel
of your every minute of thinking and Being, from here on out.
Life
is precious. Your life is precious. All lives of everyone on this planet and
beyond are precious. Every one of you contributes beauty and value just by
vibrating and BEing You, like every flower in the meadow enhances and
completes the whole experience of breathtaking beauty to one who gazes upon
it.
My
precious Lightworkers, fellow Beings of the Light, bringers of the New Earth,
bring your full force and glory forward now, put your all into it; this is
your moment, this is your destiny, this is your purpose, this is your
birthright. Bring your full force of your Light forward now and share it will
all. Nurture it as you nurture your bodies and minds and loved ones, dear
ones.
The
pieces are all coming together, like a puzzle that has been left abandoned in
a closet for many years and now you have renewed energy to finally put it
together and experience completion. You are experiencing completion, now,
dear friends, from that first step you took out of Divine Wholeness into
duality many eons ago. It is completing and locking together like a mechanism
starts to work with the turn of a key.
You
are coming on-line, and in alignment, as is Mother Earth. You are doing it
together, and the sparks are going to fly as everyone’s consciousness meshes
and aligns. What a sight it will be for us in the heavens and higher dimensions.
You are joining us. Set your wings, dust off your halos and soar with us into
the higher dimensions. It is time.

accomplishing, but you are getting an inkling now, and it just gets better
from here on out. Gather up your strength and your Love and go full force

The opening and the pivot point is nearly upon you. A few short days and you will be upon the 12-12-12 portal, then nine short days later, 12-21-12 and some of you may notice a pattern here – it is so. There are two ways to look at these numbers. One was as all 9s and the other as 11,9,11. The first denotes completion, being a 9 and it is time to complete your journey in the old 3D world and step into the ‘new world’. A time to lay down all your burdens, your fears and doubts and simply leave them behind, a time for new beginnings – for everyone. The other method really has the same result – 11, being illumination, then the 9 of completion, then again the 11 of illumination. It matters not which ‘method’ you choose, for they all lead down the same path, to the same destination - A new beginning, a new world, a new way of being.
Some may look around and think – what new beginning? - all I see is destruction, war, natural disasters and pending economic hardships. But, we ask you – what comes after these things? - New beginnings. What comes after the storm you call Sandy? - People helping one another and new beginnings. It is unfortunate that humans need to be ‘knocked over the head’ to get the message and sometimes brought to the brink before change can be wrought – well, you now are at the brink. For some, this means great change, for others this means reaching out a helping hand to those who need it. Some will rise to the challenge and others will sit down and weep, still others will chose to leave because it is too hard. We commend your dedication and willingness to be here during these difficult times, but remember also, that you all chose to be here because of these times and what is happening. The challenges that have been laid at your feet are of your own choosing, the triumphs as well. The burdens that have been put upon your shoulders have been placed there by you and if they seem too heavy it is a reminder from yourself to lay some of them down.
The most intense time of this incarnation is nearly upon you – note, we did not say most important for, we feel that will occur afterwards when your help will be greatly needed, but, most intense – it will be, and on a global scale. Some will believe that you will nearly be entering what you call WW3, but clearer heads will prevail, despite the talking that will go on. The tone of caution and reconciliation will come from an unlikely source, but the tinderbox will not ignite, it will merely smolder – for quite some time. Unfortunately, this will cause some changes in the balance of power in the region and the world. So, we say to you – you who have been preparing for this moment for eons. Google reportedly avoided
another $2 billion in taxes thanks to outsourced banking, which has already
dubbed “immoral” and an “embarrassment” in media as austerity budgets reshape
Europeans’ lives.The California-based Internet giant shifted $9.8 billion in revenues into a no-tax Bermuda company, cutting its overall income tax rate almost by half, Bloomberg cites the company’s subsidiary financials as showing.
Information disclosed on the increase in Google’s revenues routed to Bermuda could add fuel to the outrage spreading across Europe and the US over corporate tax dodging, the agency reports.
“The tax strategy of Google and other multinationals is a deep embarrassment to governments around Europe,” Richard Murphy, an accountant and director of Tax Research LLP in Norfolk, England, told Bloomberg. “The political awareness now being created in the UK, and to a lesser degree elsewhere in Europe, is: It’s us or them. People understand that if Google doesn’t pay, somebody else has to pay or services get cut.”
In Ireland, Google paid a whopping 0.14 per cent tax on sales of over €47 billion over a seven-year period, the Sunday Independent found out, compared to 21 per cent paid globally. The company keeps tax bills low through a system of transfer pricing – royalty payments filtered through Ireland, the Netherlands and ultimately Bermuda, the paper reports. Conservative MP Charlie Elphicke stressed that Google’s tax charge in Britain was only £3.4 million ($5.4 million) out of declared earnings of £2.5 billion.
Google’s technically legitimate so-called “double Irish/Dutch sandwich” tax strategy is attracting new attention as other top US corporations faced tough questioning by British MPs last month. Google, Starbucks and Amazon were accused of leaking tax revenues from the UK to tax havens abroad, actions that were labeled “immoral.”
Last week, the European Commission advised member states to create blacklists of tax havens and adopt anti-abuse rules in a move to fight the tax evasion and avoidance which costs the EU $1.3 trillion a year. Commissioner for taxation Algirdas Semeta called the tax maneuvers “scandalous” and “an attack on the fundamental principle of fairness.”
According to Google, it complies with all tax rules, and its investments in various European countries help their economies.

Remember that "extraordinary rendition" debacle
that took place a few months ago? To recap, a few English journalists had
clocked that the CIA were leasing private planes to secretly fly illegally
captured law abiders to secret prisons in Eastern Europe. Think I'm a
conspiracy nut? Go and tell the BBC they are nuts too....

It seems that one of the planes logged on this list of "CIA Prison Planes" has been in a little accident - It crash landed in Mexico after running out of Jet fuel en route to the US. The authorities were more than a little surprised when they found four tons, yes you heard me right, four tons of cocaine on board.
The men flying the plane have disappeared - including one woman, the CIA refuses to comment, and the mainstream press don't want to touch the story. Aren't you glad, that at times like this we have Current TV. This story should go on infomania, with a twist of sarcasm and a touch of Conor Knighton's humor.
We've all heard the rumors that the CIA are the reason that the United States is awash with cocaine.... is it time to connect the dots now that one of their planes has crash landed with four tons of coke in it?

So the Arnprior OPP posted a blurb in the Guide stating “Report drug dealers”. Well shouldn’t we be seeking out the kingpins in Govt. namely the CIA! The most famous example of Govt.
involvement in drugs (British) was the Opium war in China in the 1800′s.
So on the heels of that here’s extreme example of Govt. gone awry:

months after an American-registered DC9 airliner was busted with 5.5 tons of
cocaine, a major international scandal is brewing over a second drug
trafficking incident in Mexico’s Yucatan involving an American-registered
jet owned by a dummy front company ofthe kind usually associated with the
CIA.
A weekend visit to “Donna Blue Aircraft Inc” of
Coconut Beach FL., the company which FAA records show owned the
Gulfstream II business jet (N987SA) which crash-landed with 3.7 tons of
cocaine aboard in Mexico’s Yucatan two weeks ago, has revealed that the
company’s listed address is an empty office suite with a blank sign out front.
There was no sign of Donna Blue
Aircraft, Inc., at the address listed at
the Florida Dept. of Corporations, 4811 Lyons Technology Parkway #8 in Coconut
Beach FL. …….
However,
there were, oddly enough, a half-dozen
unmarked police cars parked directly in front of the empty
suite.
