The US wars in Afghanistan and Iraq will cost American taxpayers $4 trillion to $6 trillion in the long run, according to a new study by the Harvard University.
The report that was released on Thursday has taken into account the medical care of injured war veterans and expensive repairs to US military force worn out by over a decade of fighting, The Washington Post reported.
Linda J. Bilmes, a public policy professor, wrote in the report, “As a consequence of these wartime spending choices, the United States will face constraints in funding investments in personnel and diplomacy, research and development and new military initiatives.”
“The legacy of decisions taken during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars will dominate future federal budgets for decades to come,” Bilmes noted.
She said that years of war in Iraq and Afghanistan have already cost Washington $2 trillion, which is only a fraction of the ultimate price tag.
Adding to costs will be the interest Washington will have to pay for borrowing to fund the wars, Bilmes stated.
In 2003, the US and Britain invaded Iraq in blatant violation of international law and under the pretext of finding weapons of mass destruction. But no such weapons were ever found in Iraq.
More than one million Iraqis were killed as the result of the US-led invasion and subsequent occupation of the country, according to the California-based investigative organization Project Censored.
In 2001, the US and its allies invaded Afghanistan as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror. The offensive removed the Taliban regime from power, but insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan, despite the presence of about over 100,000 US-led troops.
According to the United Nations, thousands of Afghan civilians have died and hundreds of thousands more displaced during a more than 11-year long war.

Historic interview reveals national security secrets learned from extraterrestrials

An historic television interview with George Van Tassel recorded in June 1964 reveals a number of technologies that have been secretly developed by the U.S. Air Force and Navy based on information first gained from extraterrestrial visitors. Among the national security secrets revealed by Van Tassel is that the U.S. Air Force has possessed antigravity technology since at least 1956. Van Tassel claims to have witnessed a practical demonstration of antigravity technology in 1953 when he was taken up into an extraterrestrial spacecraft that had landed at Giant Rock airport in California which he managed at the time. In the interview, Van Tassel further claims that technologies based on retrieving visual scenes from any time period, including television signals and even time travel itself, have been developed, and then classified for national security reasons by the U.S. Navy. Based on his extraterrestrial contact experiences, Van Tassel devoted great effort to developing time travel technology and expanding human longevity through the four stories tall “Integratron” he built at Giant Rock. He died of a heart attack in 1978, only weeks before the scheduled completion of his Integratron. Circumstances surrounding his death suggest that the knowledge he gained on extending human longevity, another topic with important national security implications, had been appropriated by U.S. authorities for secret development.

The television interview was conducted by Jack Webster from KVOS TV on June 18, 1964. Chief among Van Tassel’s claims is that he was taken up into an extraterrestrial spacecraft and given technological information by four space visitors that were human looking, and about 5’ 6” in height on August 24, 1953. One of the visitors was 700 years old according to Van Tassel. He was given a simple mathematical formula for time travel that directly correlated frequency with time in an inverse relationship. Remarkably, Van Tassel claims that the technology had subsequently been developed to view any visual scene from any time historic period. The technology was quickly classified by the U.S. Navy and the inventor was forced to work in a secret project. The time travel/viewing technology described by Van Tassel in his 1964 interview is similar to what was much later described as “Project Looking Glass” which whistleblowers claim to be run by the U.S. Navy.

The equation Van Tassel received from his 1953 extraterrestrial contact became the basis for his development of the Integraton, a four stories tall structure that would lead to cellular rejuvenation literature. Government agencies had succeeded in demonstratingen to the general public. On the verge of completing his Integratron project in 1978, Van Tassel died in mysterious circumstances of a heart attack. Select U.S. government agencies then intervened to confiscate material and documents from his property. The Integratron project was then abandoned. Van Tassel’s pioneering research on cellular rejuvenation and human longevity was very likely absorbed into a highly classified project that again had important national security implications.

Finally, in the interview, Van Tassel also says he witnessed first-hand the antigravity technology of the extraterrestrial visitors who have had bases on the moon for centuries. Van Tassel also claimed that the US Air Force has developed antigravity technology in highly classified projects in 1956. Antigravity technology based on the principle of electrogravitics was discussed in open source scientific literature up until 1956 after which such research suddenly became highly classified. No more scientific studies had appeared after 1956. Van Tassel’s claim gives a plausible answer for the mysterious disappearance of antigravity research from open scientific literature. Government agencies had succeeded in demonstrating their practical value, and importance for national security. All subsequent open source or civilian efforts to develop antigravity technologies were either classified or repressed. In the case of Otis Carr, a disciple of Nikola Tesla, his own civilian based antigravity technology was repressed with terrible results. Carr was jailed on trumped up charges and it was only four decades later, in March 2006, that one of Carr’s technical assistants, Ralph Ring, came forward to reveal the truth. Carr had successfully developed antigravity technology, and was subsequently repressed by national agencies.

The 1964 television interview with Van Tassel is a classic that features that pioneering research of one of the most important contactees from the 1950s, and some of the knowledge that was acquired with extraterrestrial assistance. The interview reveals three of the most important national security secrets in the USA that have been developed for well over five decades; antigravity technology; cell regeneration and human longevity; and time travel /viewing of the past and future. A film based on the life of George Van Tassel is currently under production featuring Hollywood actor, Kevin Gage. The film, Giant Rock: The Greatest UFO Story Never Told, will reveal more details of Van Tassel’s knowledge of time travel, antigravity and rejuvenation – knowledge that has been secretly developed by select national security entities for almost six decades.

A Leawood couple, former CIA workers: Indoor gardening prompted pot raid Two former CIA employees whose Leawood home was fruitlessly searched for marijuana during a two-state drug sweep claim they were illegally targeted, possibly because they had bought indoor growing supplies to raise vegetables. Adlynn and Robert Harte sued this week to get more information about why sheriff’s deputies searched their home last April 20 as part of Operation Constant Gardener — a sweep conducted by agencies in Kansas and Missouri that netted marijuana plants, processed marijuana, guns, growing paraphernalia and cash from several other locations. The date of April 20 long has been used by marijuana enthusiasts to celebrate the illegal drug and more recently by law enforcement for raids and crackdowns. But the Hartes’ attorney, Cheryl Pilate, said she suspects the couple’s 1,825-square-foot split level was targeted because they had bought hydroponic equipment to grow a small number of tomatoes and squash plants in their basement. “With little or no other evidence of any illegal activity, law enforcement officers make the assumption that shoppers at the store are potential marijuana growers, even though the stores are most commonly frequented by backyard gardeners who grow organically or start seedlings indoors,” the couple’s lawsuit says. The couple filed the suit this week under the Kansas Open Records Act after Johnson County and Leawood denied their initial records requests, with Leawood saying it had no relevant records. The Hartes say the public has an interest in knowing whether the sheriff’s department’s participation in the raids was “based on a well-founded belief of marijuana use and cultivation at the targeted addresses, or whether the raids primarily served a publicity purpose.” The suit filed in Johnson County District Court said the couple and their two children — a 7-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son — were “shocked and frightened” when deputies armed with assault rifles and wearing bullet proof vests pounded on the door of their home around 7:30 a.m. last April 20. During the sweep, the court filing said, the Hartes were told they had been under surveillance for months, but the couple “know of no basis for conducting such surveillance, nor do they believe such surveillance would have produced any facts supporting the issuance of a search warrant.” The suitolor: #000099;">Leawood City Administrator Scott Lambers said Friday that he couldn’t comment on pending litigation. The sheriff’s office also had no comment. “Obviously with an ongoining, “No items taken.” Pilate said no one in the Harte family uses illegal drugs and no charges were filed. The Department of Defense said an E-8-Senior Chief was taken to University of Arizona Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The other SEAL - an E-6 Petty Officer First Class - was in stable condition at the same Tucson hospital, military officials said Friday. The command has a parachute testing and training facility at the Pinal Airpark in Marana, according to McGraw, who added that training programs are operated there year-round. Both Benn Steil, author of "The Battle of Bretton Woods", and reviewer James Grant are to be commended for their excellent discussions of the 1944 Bretton Woods conference that resulted in the establishment of the International Monetary Fund and, more importantly, the less-than-stellar outcomes of IMF policies since then ("Review—Books: A Fateful Meeting That Shaped the World", March 16).

Kudos to both for revealing that America's chief delegate to the conference, assistant
secretary of the Treasury Harry Dexter White, was a spy for the Soviet Union. One of White's most egregious actions—which, fortunately, was never implemented—was recommending that postwar Germany be flooded with counterfeit money in order to destroy its economy.

In 1945, White got another opportunity to betray his country: He was named as senior adviser to the U.S. delegation to the conference in San Francisco that founded the United Nations. In this capacity, he funneled information to his handlers as to how the U.S.S.R. could get veto power and kept them apprised of the U.S. position on significant issues. White's perfidy was coupled with that of another high-ranking American spy for the Soviets, Alger Hiss, who presided over the U.N. conference. Hiss served as a top adviser to FDR at the Yalta conference, where Roosevelt and, yes, Winston Churchill ceded Eastern Europe to Joseph Stalin.

Another NGO formed at Bretton Woods was the World Bank, which consisted of two major divisions, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association. The former is indicative of the World Bank's initial mission: providing loans to war-torn Western Europe to rebuild its shattered infrastructure. Once that objective had essentially been achieved by the late 1960s, the World Bank decided that it needed to do something to assure its continued existence. The new mission would be eradicating world poverty, to be achieved by providing social services, building schools and hospitals, improving primary education, promoting gender equality, reducing the rate of infant mortality, enhancing maternal health, combating HIV/AIDS and malaria, and promoting environmental stability. (I saw numerous examples of these programs—usually applied to developing nations—when I had the opportunity to peruse a number of publications in the World Bank's Paris office.)

In the review, the comments of the late New York Times editorialist Henry Hazlitt point out the shaky foundation on which the IMF was founded. I was surprised, however, that there was no mention that the IMF, like the World Bank, shifted direction to continue operating. Instead of a responsibility for stabilizing exchange rates, the current mission involves bailing out nations with failing economies; about $600 billion has been provided since 1970.

Communist influence during their formation, changing missions to extend their lives, profligate spending and general ineptness are the legacies of the IMF, World Bank and the U.N. Given these deficiencies and the billions of dollars we have contributed to these organizations with little or nothing to show, it is time for America to have a serious debate as to what our future involvement should be.
