Eleanor Clift stands by claim US ambassador not ‘murdered’ in Benghazi

A longtime political pundit under fire for claiming the American ambassador to Libya was not "murdered" in Benghazi is standing by her claim he died of smoke inhalation.

"I'd like to point out that Ambassador (Chris) Stevens was not 'murdered;' he died of smoke inhalation in that safe room in that CIA installation," Eleanor Clift, a columnist at The Daily Beast, said Sunday on "The McLaughlin Group."

While Clift may be technically correct in light of reports that Stevens died from smoke inhalation, she was criticized because the ambassador died as a result of a fire ignited during a terrorist raid on the Benghazi consulate on Sep. 11, 2012.

She stood by her comment Tuesday during a radio interview.

"I was taking issue with the sort of glib use of the word 'murdered,'" Clift told radio host Steve Malzberg. "My point is that it was a very chaotic event. The CIA was involved, which is why there was a lot of confusion initially, and that all the questions that this special committee is raising have been asked and answered in previous investigations."

Malzberg asked if she would feel the same way if it was her relative. She replied, "I would say he died of smoke inhalation."

Author and columnist Pat Buchanan, who was on the Sunday show's panel, reportedly said he was "stunned cold" by her remarks.

The attack on the consulate in the Mediterranean port city has been a political rallying cry since just weeks before President Obama’s re-election. With the launch of a new House investigation, Benghazi is shaping up as a byword of this fall's midterm election and the presidential race in 2016, especially if former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is on the ballot.

"I was just trying to add a little bit of complexity, and I'm going to stick with what I said," Clift said. "I realize this causes a lot of emotion."

Pentagon reportedly trying to transfer Manning to civilian prison for gender treatment

WASHINGTON –  In an unprecedented move, the Pentagon is trying to transfer convicted national security leaker Pvt. Chelsea Manning to a civilian prison so he can get treatment for his gender disorder, defense officials said.

Manning, formerly named Bradley, was convicted of sending classified documents to anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks. The soldier has asked for hormone therapy and to be able to live as a woman.

The request was the first ever made by a transgender military inmate and set up a dilemma for the Defense Department: How to treat a soldier for a diagnosed disorder without violating long-standing military policy. Transgenders are not allowed to serve in the U.S. military and the Defense Department does not provide such treatment, but Manning can't be discharged from the service while serving his 35-year prison sentence.

Some officials have said privately that keeping the soldier in a military prison and unable to have treatment could amount to cruel and unusual punishment.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel last month gave the Army approval to try to work out a transfer plan with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, which does provide such treatment, two Pentagon officials said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the record.

"No decision to transfer Pvt. Manning to a civilian detention facility has been made, and any such decision will, of course, properly balance the soldier's medical needs with our obligation to ensure she remains behind bars," Pentagon press secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby said.

The two agencies are just starting discussions about prospects for a transfer, the two officials said.

The Army has a memorandum of agreement with the Bureau of Prisons for use of several hundred beds and has sent an average of 15 to 20 prisoners a year to civilian prisons. But circumstances are different in Manning's case. The Army normally transfers some prisoners to federal prisons after all military appeals have been exhausted and discharge from military service has been executed. Cases of national security interest are not normally approved for transfer from military custody to the federal prison system.

The former intelligence analyst was sentenced in August for six Espionage Act violations and 14 other offenses for giving WikiLeaks more than 700,000 secret military and U.S. State Department documents, along with battlefield video, while working in Iraq in 2009 and 2010. An Army general later upheld the convictions, clearing the way for an appeal at the Army Court of Criminal Appeals.

After the conviction, Manning announced the desire to live as a woman and to be called Chelsea, a name change that was approved last month by a Leavenworth County District Judge and that the military did not oppose.

The soldier has been diagnosed by military doctors multiple times -- including last fall after arriving at the Fort Leavenworth, Kan., prison -- with gender dysphoria, the sense of being a woman in a man's body.

By November, a military doctor there had approved a treatment plan, including hormone therapy, but it was sent higher up the chain of command for consideration, according to a complaint filed by Manning in March over the delay in getting treatment.

The plan the military was considering has not been publicly released, but Manning said in the complaint that he had specifically asked that the treatment "plan consider ... three types of treatment."

Those were "real life experience" -- a regimen in which the person tries dressing and living as the sex they want to transition to (something not possible in the Leavenworth men's facility); hormone therapy, which changes some physical traits such as breast and hair growth; and sex reassignnment surgery. Manning has not been specific about possible surgery, but experts in transgender health say it can include any of a large number of procedures such as chest reconstruction, genital reconstruction and plastic surgery such as facial reconstruction.

Hagel said Sunday that the prohibition on transgender individuals serving in the armed forces "continually should be reviewed." He didn't indicate whether he believes the policy should be overturned but said "every qualified American who wants to serve our country should have an opportunity if they fit the qualifications and can do it." A transgender individual is someone who has acquired the physical characteristics of the opposite sex or presents himself or herself in a way that does not correspond with that person's sex at birth.

Forget an Apple iWatch, the U.S. military is the one really taking wearable technology to new levels.
Different divisions of the U.S. armed forces, as well as other government agencies such as Darpa, are all working on developing high-tech armor that will help not only provide soldiers with full-body ballistic protection, but will also give them superhuman-like capabilities.
Think enhanced vision, increased upper body strength, improved speed and even amplified situational awareness.
Some of the technology that the soldier of the future may wear could include advanced sensors, that can respond to brain functions; smart fabrics that could provide hemorrhage control; and a heads-up display that could provide real-time battlefield data. An exoskeleton that enhances physical performance—and also captures kinetic energy to power the soldier's attire—could also be part of the future uniform.
Although this might sound like something straight out of a scene from a science fiction movie, it's actually not that far off from becoming a reality.

TALOS

The U.S. military is currently working on a system called the Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS)—which is aimed at providing greater ballistic coverage as well as increased strength—for Special Operations troops.
"The next 20 years are going to be transformational years," said Michael Fieldson, the program manager for TALOS.
The first TALOS prototype is expected to be delivered in June, and a fully functional version is expected to roll out to U.S. Commandos by 2018.

By 2039, the suit could have many of the advanced capabilities mentioned, if not more.

The TALOS team is currently working with a slew of companies on the TALOS vision including defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Boeing. It's also partnering with some unexpected companies including Nike, Adidas and Under Armour.

Future of defense robots

Tim Trainer, head of defense products at iRobot, demonstrates where defense robots are now, and where they may be in 25 years -- human faces? Weapons?

"We are able to solicit broad participation from non-traditional partners, and what that does is lower the development costs and increase the deployment timeline at bringing in new technologies," Fieldson said. "And this kind of collaboration could rev up the kinds of technology that are possible in the next 20 years."

Although TALOS is often referred to as the "Iron Man" suit, the military is actually working to make the uniform as lightweight, durable and discreet as possible.

"Twenty years from now will everyone have space boots? Probably not, it will be much more effective equipment that is lighter than what general purpose forces have today," Fieldson said.

Merging man and machine

Machines and mankind will merge as technology advances, and that will mean a heap of benefits for soldiers in battle, said Tod Lovell, a technology director at Raytheon.

One of the goals of the TALOS' team is to use antennas and computers embedded into the suit to help increase situational awareness.

For example, if a soldier is looking in one direction, the technology in the suit would sense that and alert the wearer if something was awry in another direction.

It may communicate this through a vibration, or it could even alert the wearer via a message displayed in a heads-up display.

In other words, the technology in future armor will really complete humans, Lovell said.

"The really cool thing is that technology is going to start really paying attention to the state of the human," Lovell said. "It won't just be the human operating part of the technology. The human will be part of that system. The system would adapt to the human."

Computers on the inside

Some of the technology may even be placed inside of the soldiers' bodies.

"Twenty-five years from now, we may be to the point where the sensors are embedded in the skin and the person becomes the processor," Lovell said.

The company MC10 is already building "conformable electronics," which mesh with a person's skin much like temporary tattoos. These electronics contain sensors that can monitor data from the brain, muscles, heart as well as other biometric information.

Although the company is in the process of applying to work on TALOS, it already has military partnerships, including a project it is about to begin with the Air Force where it will put patches inside clothing that will monitor things such as indicators of stress and fatigue, said Barry Ives, director for MC10's advanced programs and military.

The company also uses its flexible, ultra-thin electronics to make solar panels that can be embedded into clothing. It has partnered with the Army to test the flexible energy harvesters, which are placed on soldiers' helmets, rucksacks and other gear. The goal is to create enough energy to power soldiers' devices when they're in the field.

But whether these types of flexible electronics are embedded in the skin, or in a soldier's clothing, it's clear that new technology like this is going to be used.

"As you look out 25 years, I'm not sure we know or will even recognize the things that will come out," Lovell said. "But I think a lot of the new science—the quantum computing, lower power devices and advanced sensors—they are going to continue to change the game."

Interesting timing! 

 NEW YORK (Marke****ch) -- The New York Stock Exchange reported a problem with a data feed on Wednesday. "The NYSE BBO data feed is currently experiencing an issue with the symbol range D through J," the exchange said in a notice at 11:38 a.m. Eastern.

BBO stands for best bid and offer. The BBO feed is not the feed that goes to the Securities Information Processor, or SIP, run by the NYSE.

The SIP is a system thatconsolidates quote and trade data for U.S. stocks. The NYSE said further information will be provided shortly, and all other NYSE systems were functioning normally.

On Tuesday, the NYSE canceled certain AOL trades.

Rrobeyd:    Interesting conversation with an Annuities broker!

A couple weeks ago I had browsed for info on annuities. Found a site for a broker near me in Irvine Ca. Lots of money and money people in Irvine. Gave my number so I could possibly ask him questions. He finally caught me after work and we talked. I told him my situation was purely hypothetical just to see if he would lose interest.

Then I told him I might be coming into money but wasn't positive of that or when if I did. Naturally he asked was it inheritance. I told him a speculative investment.

 He said he might be able to help with that as he had done a lot of Wall St trading as well. He asked what I was invested in and I told him foreign currency. He asked Forex? I told him it was specific to a certain country and right away he said Iraq!

I asked him what he knew about an RV and GCR and he said that conversation I would have to pay for. I said that would not happen unless this paid off.

He said you have my number saved right? I'll be waiting for your call ready to help you.

I asked if that was his way of hinting that he knew this was gonna happen? He laughed and said he would wait for my call real soon. I think you have a good chance.

Taking with a grain of salt but found it very interesting!

Current Updates on a Few Things for May 15

The full moon and wacky energies are affecting my sleep (creating a lack of) and some unexpected behaviour in various people. I’ve heard we can expect sleep disturbances and lethargy, but I’m so HUNGRY!

Yesterday we saw a small SUV high-centred on a curb (it seems she missed the driveway and straddled one of the curbs instead) and to make matters worse—bumped into a fire hydrant, too. Maybe she was multitasking.

I told my other half our air conditioner started making an odd noise while he was away and reminded him we needed to get someone out for a service call, but he hadn’t detected the sound and said he’d get around to it. Yesterday the A/C crapped out so he had to get someone to come right away.

The young A/C technician tried to use a decorative wooden ladder on our roof to climb from the upper to the lower, broke a rung and fell a couple of feet. Fortunately his leg isn’t in serious shape. The A/C was fixed just now. Thankfully it’s a cooler May than usual and thank goodness for ceiling fans!

Just as I was ready to catch up on email yesterday afternoon, we lost our Internet. That’s been happening more frequently lately.

Zap said the long-awaited financial announcement would come today. We shall see.

Good news!  We have three people so far who volunteered to be our “Washington Correspondents” for Operation American Spring so if they can coordinate the texting and photos and relay to me, I’ll be able to post some REAL news about what’s going on. I’m putting everyone in a bubble for protection. Thank you so much!

BACKGROUND TO THE EVENT

or History of THE EVENT

The television will reveal the truth to them over time, because the forces of light will control the satellites and the communication systems.

The few media moguls who secretly own all of the world major media and are in charge of systematic mind control (such as, Murdoch, the Rockefellers and the Rothschild’s) will either be arrested or rendered impotent. Their censors will be removed as civil authorities will be directed to insure the dissemination of truth from the time of THE EVENT until forevermore. The cabal-controlled, script reading, MK Ultra victims also know as talking heads will be replaced by responsible reporters. The satellites will be in control of the Resistance Movement and other supporting forces.

The media will give us an honest detailed report of what is going very soon after the arrest process begins. This will hopefully calm the populace and insure people are getting the information necessary to help them and their families.

After The EVENT

The actual arrests of Cabal members is intended to take no more than 72 hours on world wide action and enforcement sweep. However the human element will come into play and the initial arrests may take longer. Still the entire process is expected to last no more than 2 weeks. There may be ongoing arrests of smaller fish in the months that follow!

During this 2-week time period the banks will have been closed. Hopefully at this time the media will have been releasing massive amounts of evidence of the far ranging criminal actions promulgated by those major players, both known and unknown to the public eye. This will be a relief for many and riveting news for all. Overall this be a strong cause and impetus for change.

What will come next is up to humanity as a whole. How fast and how well humanity adapts to the revelations on the world stage in regards to the arrests of these criminals will determine the next stage of our planets growth. There will most certainly be a process of denial, shock and anger over what has been going on. Acts of revenge and violence or acting out will not be tolerated. We hope our group will be instrumental in educating the populace and preventing fear based reactions and hostile actions by those in their communities!

Obozo Strikes Again: Burger King And Other Fast Food Franchises Vacate All Military Bases

The Burger King national headquarters announced this month that they will be pulling their franchises from our military bases. Soon to follow will be Popeye’s Chicken, Pizza franchises and the chain of barber and beauty shops which operates inside the gates of our military facilities. Reason? Obama’s mandate that all companies who do business with the federal government pay a $10.10 per hour minimum wage. The companies cite the fact that a limited military customer base cannot sustain acceptable profit margins while still offering up a hefty share of profits to the Army and Air Force Exchange System’s Health and Morale fund and paying $10.10 an hour as Obama has directed for any contractor doing business with the DOD. For those who don’t know, hundreds of commercial franchises have operated on military bases for years. This partnership has been a boon to the non-profit AAFES system. All profits go toward programs such as organized athletic programs for the military and their dependents, exercise equipment, support for social clubs and the like. Coming at a time of tighter defense budgets the withdrawal of commercial franchises is going to put quite a squeeze on the military health and morale programs. Every time a military grunt got a haircut, every time a military wife got a manicure or hair styling, with every burger or slice of pizza or chicken dinner sold, a portion of the profits went to this much needed program. Alas, as with all things Obama, every time he does something to please his socialist friends, someone suffers. In this case it will be our military. While this will be a serious loss for our stateside troops, the troops who will be most hurt by this are our troops deployed to remote areas of the world where our military folks had little to look forward to but a Burger King Whopper and fries at a small concession that might bring them a little bit of home to their lives. This should not surprise me at all but it does. I should have been prepared for this when Obama eliminated hot meals for our troops in Afghanistan even as he and Joe Biden were booking $500,000 per night hotel suites in Paris and London….or Obama’s total disregard for costs as he and Michelle have run up over $600 million dollars in vacation costs during his tenure. Oh well, I understand the military’s food research facility up in Illinois is working on “Pizza in a Pouch” for the new cold ration packs. “Screw the grunts” seems to be Obama’s philosophy…even as he and Michelle host Jay Z and Beyonce at one of those fancy White House dinners. http://justcommonsense-lostinamerica.blogspot.com/2014/05/burger-king-fleeing-military-bases.html
