EUROBLOWN EXCLUSIVE: Power draining away from the IMF

The economic world's shift in balance towards the East and South is making the IMF increasingly irrelevant to economic and fiscal thinkers, a qualitative study conducted by The Slog suggests.

Last weekend and during the early part of this week, I devoted some time to taking the temperature of the IMF among economists, traders, senior executives in commerce and the odd politician here and there. The territories covered were the UK, France, Germany, Greece, Singapore, Spain, the US and Mexico. We're talking small-scale research here, so the findings come with a big health-warning; also some key States like Brazil, Argentina and Italy weren't included. But the consistency of findings will come as a shock to some, I think.
The attitudes ranged from visceral dislike in southern Europe to a general feeling of anti-BRIC bias in developing areas – and perhaps very significant, a sense that the IMF is underfunded and 'lightweight' from opinion leaders in the larger territories.
As it happens, some of this is already being reflected out there in the real world. Canada bluntly told the IMF's CEO Christine Lagarde yesterday that not a single cent more would be contributed from that direction until Europe was off the salavation agenda. Jim Flaherty, Canada's Finance Minister, said yesterday it was time the eurozone put its hands in its pockets. I think Mr Flaherty hasn't been doing his sums on the contents of those pockets, but neverthless his view reflects that of many others.
The Slog study might also explain why much of what Lagarde had to say yesterday about Europe's central importance to the global economy fell on deaf ears. The other reason is that, about fifteen months behind the music, she accepted for the first time that a eurozone breakup might be on the cards…and most of the MSM focused on that.
"The IMF is increasingly seen as a bit of a joke in my constituency," said one UK credit bigwig, "and its economic ideas are, frankly, idiotic in the face of what's happening."
"I find the arrogance [of the IMF] both irritating and amusing at the same time," said a Madrid contact, "the eurozone problem is far bigger than them, and the Brics will probably insist on more power there before too long – or start up their own operations". Ironically, the EU itself has talked of doing the same thing. Predictably, Brussels has abandoned the idea….due to lack of interested investors.
"Out here, the feeling is that the IMF is fixated on Europe," said an Asian respondent, "But the reality is that China has problems, and Brazil is showing early signs of a slow-down. The US starved the IMF for years, and now that's coming home to roost. There's no way they have the money or ideas to look at these big new strains in the global economy."
There is a sense in Washington too that the Obama White House thinks the invention of the Universal Giant Bazooka by Tim Geithner has rendered the IMF pointless: that once the trillions thing became commonplace, the IMF was simply no longer a player. The President has flatly refused any more money for the eurozone via the IMF (he tends to deal it off the bottom straight to Mario Draghi at the ECB) and although Japan made a smallish eurozone commitment last month, it's trade balance bombed last month, creating an 83bn Yen deficit.
When most Sovereigns in the world felt wealthy after 2001, the IMF should've gone round with the begging bowl then. In the event, it has turned into just another charity which, in a world being pauperised by debt monetisation, spends too much time protesting too much.
"Look," said a Greek respondent summing the situation up very well, I thought, "the IMF likes lecturing people, but it doesn't have any clout. The events [in the Greek crisis] this year have shown what Big League finance is about today. It's about clinging on, and desperation, and the illegal punishment of government and citizens who had little or nothing to do with the big disasters. Lagarde is a hate figure in Greece today, but nothing like on the same scale as Merkel, Schauble and Draghi. In many ways, that's a reflection of her irrelevance".

Battle over State vs Federal Land in Nevada

Nevada: Federal Government Says It Will Confiscate the Cattle Owned by a Local Rancher, Because They are on BLM land.

Nevada: Federal government says it will confiscate the cattle owned by a local rancher, because they are on BLM land.
The rancher and local sheriff are standing their ground on the fact that Nevada actually owns the land, not the federal government, and that private property rights held for generations supersede federal interests.

BUNKERVILLE -- A long-simmering feud between rancher Cliven Bundy and federal land managers over grazing cattle on public land in the Gold Butte area may soon boil over as the Bureau of Land Management prepares to round up his 500-head herd.
Bundy contends that Clark County, not the BLM, is the proper landlord for the public lands. However, a roundup planned for today has been temporarily pushed back, the rancher said late Tuesday.
Bundy, 65, known as the last rancher running cattle year-round on a Southern Nevada range, received a letter Monday from BLM District Manager Mary Jo Rugwell that said he continues to be in violation of a 1998 federal court injunction to stop grazing cattle on public lands.
"The BLM issued you a notice of intent to impound on July 26, 2011 after your livestock were found grazing on public lands within the Gold Butte area without authorization in areas that are closed to grazing," Rugwell wrote in the letter dated April 3.
"Subsequent livestock checks have confirmed that your livestock remain on public lands and that you remain in violation of a permanent injunction."
Rugwell's letter said Bundy will be contacted after the cattle are removed, "and you will have an opportunity to claim any cattle that bear your brand."
A second letter he received this week from the local BLM district orders him to remove his water systems, fences, equipment and other range improvements from public land.
During a tour Tuesday of the Gold Butte area, Bundy said he intends to resist efforts by a government contractor to round up his cattle. His family and ancestors have grazed cattle and lived on the range about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas since 1877.
Asked whether he would be armed while doing so, Bundy said, "I'm going to protect my livestock and the ranch. I hope it doesn't come to that point. I'm going to hold the state and ... the elected authorities responsible."
SHERIFF'S PEACEKEEPERS
Bundy said Sheriff Doug Gillespie met with him twice at his house in the past few days. Gillespie said his officers would be present as peacekeepers, Bundy recalled. Gillespie was the one who notified Bundy that the roundup had been delayed, the rancher said in a Tuesday night email.
"The emergency for tomorrow's range war seems to be declining," the email said. "I have been contacted by Clark County Sheriff Gillespie and the raid on my cattle has been temporarily suspended!"
Earlier, Bundy referenced the preamble of the U.S. Constitution and said he believes the sheriff "has an obligation to protect life, liberty and the property of 'We the people.' Federal rangers have no jurisdiction or authority, no policing power or arresting power."
"In talking to the sheriff, I said, 'If you have guts enough to say no (to the BLM), this issue would be over.' "
Dave Bundy, one of Bundy's sons, sent an email Tuesday to family friends before word of the roundup delay reached them. It said: "This unconstitutional federal overrun is a cancer that is destroying our free way of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness and is spreading throughout our entire nation."
Dave Bundy's email goes on to state that the BLM has hired a contractor that specializes "in putting ranchers out of business by collecting their cattle for the BLM. They plan on making this move on Cliven on Wednesday."
"We need you to join and rally with us to stop this movement. We the people can make a difference ... Saddle up and be ready," Dave Bundy wrote.
Cliven Bundy stopped paying grazing allotment fees to the BLM years ago and tried to pay them to Clark County after his federal grazing allotment was canceled in 1994 to protect habitat for the threatened desert tortoise and other sensitive species.
For 18 years he has bucked the BLM's authority and continued to graze cattle in the area. He estimates he runs 500 head of adult cattle on 120 square miles in the Gold Butte area that he calls his "ranch." The area includes 160 acres of private property near Bunkerville where his father built a house in 1951. Bundy and his wife, Carol, have raised 14 children there.
He said his problems with the BLM began in the early 1990s when the agency started "managing land to get ranchers and cattle off of it."
"No more moo in '92 and cattle-free in '93," he recalled ranchers saying of BLM policy.
Then, about one-fourth of grazing fees were supposed to be used by the BLM for range improvements and one-eighth for management. Bundy stopped paying his fees about that time. The BLM didn't cancel his Bunkerville allotment in 1994, Bundy contends -- he fired them.
"I'll be damned if I'm going to pay them to manage my ranch," he said Tuesday.
He said his firing of the BLM came about through letters he wrote to the solicitor of the United States and the BLM's national and state offices.
The BLM accused him of trespassing in a 1998 U.S. District Court case in Las Vegas. He lost and appealed to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, but the court upheld the injunction to remove his cattle from the public range.
Bundy asserts that the federal government has unlimited power over public land only if the land is a territory. He said the land where he grazes cattle was not owned by anybody but has been occupied by American Indian tribes and Mexico. It became U.S. territory through wars and remained as such until Nevada became a state.
'SOVEREIGN STATE'
"When Nevada became a state, it became a sovereign state with subdivisions in county governments," Bundy asserted. "We, the people, elect county sheriffs and pay the sheriffs with the county commissions to protect our life, liberty and property. The people of Clark County must own the public land in Clark County because the federal government, according to the Constitution, can't own property."
That's why Gillespie and his deputies are supposed to be peacemakers in his fight with the BLM, he said. Their job is to protect private property and "keep the federal government from stealing it."
Bundy said the ordeal has been "a strain on my family. We've been busy trying to defend ourselves."

The Ron Paul “delegate strategy” seems to be working. And he could very well be nominated at the Republican National Convention in Tampa in late summer.
Wow. Twist.
The Texas libertarian has based his entire 2012 presidential campaign on the ability to win over state delegates — rather than winning the popular vote. To do this, Paul has utilized an extensive grassroots campaign network to influence local officials, who in turn would influence the higher-up officials. Until recently, this strategy had shown only limited results: the ground-level Paul delegates had not been able to immediately influence the wider state delegate situation. Now, though, caucus states like Washington, Minnesota, and Iowa — each with a complicated system of “bound” and “unbound” delegates — are nominating their delegates to the GOP national convention in Tampa. And the Paul ground game is starting to work, but with some institutional backlash.
Here’s a micro-level example: In Washington over the weekend, Republicans in the 37thLegislative District gathered to vote on their delegates. The meeting saw Ron Paul supporters elect one of their own to chair the process. A Republican Party chairman, though, refused to accept the Paul-supporting chairperson, and ended the meeting, declaring that the meeting was no longer a Republican Party event, but rather a Ron Paul campaign event.
The caucus finished its business outside in the sun, and elected 11 Ron Paul supporters to the state convention, which begins May 31 in Tacoma.
Boom, Ron Paul’s system looks like it is working.
Paul loyalists, of course, still harbor hope for getting their man nominated at the national convention in Tampa in late August. In order to do that, Paul must have a majority of support from at least five state delegations. With states like North Dakota, Minnesota, Maine, and others on track, his supporters could then attempt to nominate him from the floor.
And it’s looking like he’ll get the states he needs to be eligable for a nomination (though, by no means would he be able to beat Mitt Romney's delegate haul). Even being eligable would be a massive #win for Paul, though, especially as he shops his libertarian ideology and seeks to infleunce conservative politics on a more philisophical level.
Earlier this week in Iowa and Minnesota, Ron Paul’s covert, submarine delegate strategy paid off. Iowa has 28 total delegates that it can award, and one of those delegates is the state chairman, a Ron Paul supporter. Paul also picked up 13 delegates from the state’s nomination committee, which decided yesterday to go for Ron Paul. Weeks after the Iowa race was called for Rick Santorum, Paul’s grinding delegate game has paid off, and at the very worst, he will earn half of Iowa’s delegates.
He pulled off the same thing in Minnesota. The state has 40 delegates and Ron Paul has secured at least 20 of them, confirming Paul’s prediction at the time that “when the dust settles, there is a very good chance that we’ll have the maximum number of delegates coming out of Minnesota.”
Ron Paul is very much on track to change the course of this GOP presidential race.

President Of Iceland Tells Us How He Had The Balls To Stand Up To Britain

---------------
The President Of Iceland Tells Us How He Had The Balls To Stand Up To Britain
Adam Taylor|April 13, 2012
The president of Iceland sits in his study drinking tea from an immaculate china set.
"If a collapse in the financial sector can bring one of the most stable and secure democracies and political structures to his knees as happened in Iceland," Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson says to me, "then what could it do in countries that have less stable democratic and political history?"
The tiny country is unique not only in its stunning geography but also in its open democracy. This democracy was pivotal in the choice to let three giant banks fail during the financial crisis.
For Ólafur, the crisis of 2008 was personal.
Once the darling of the left wing, he worked as finance minister for several years before he became president of the country in 1996, a largely ceremonial role that he's inhabited ever since.
Like many in the country he was once a cheerleader for Iceland's financial sector, privatized at the start of the 21st century — and the sudden collapse was a painful reminder that Iceland was a small, isolated place.
Now, of course, most headlines we see about Iceland seem positive.
Iceland is repaying its IMF loans early, unemployment is down, and growth is above average. The streets of Reykjavik seem calm and happy.
Other countries, of course, haven't been so lucky. The crisis remains front page news in Greece, Italy and Spain — countries that followed a very different response from Iceland's.
Ólafur argues that his country's strength came from recognizing the problem was not just an "economic and financial challenge", but a "profound social, political, and even judicial" challenge.
After the crisis, the country held a full judicial investigation, and went against "the prevailing economic orthodoxies of the American, European and IMF model." Ólafur says that he likes to think that the IMF learned more from Iceland during this time than vice versa.
A key example of this approach is Iceland's refusal to pump money into failed banks.
The decision was controversial at the time, but now looks increasingly wise.
"I have never understood the argument — why a private bank or financial fund is somehow better for the well being and future of the economy than the industrial sector, the IT sector, the creative sector, or the manufacturing sector".
There is, of course, another aspect.
A tricky situation arose when the U.K. and Holland demanded money for their citizens' depleted Icesave accounts, and Iceland refused.
The incident sparked a major diplomatic scuffle, with Iceland refusing to pay out and the U.K. even using "anti-terrorism legislation" against the state.
For Ólafur, it's also a personal aspect. He was head of state, though he did not control the government — in effect his position was more like being an elected Queen of England than being Barack Obama.
But constitutionally he had the right to veto government legislation — though it had never been used by his office previously.
Ólafur decided to block government legislation to pay back the U.K. Twice.
Both times the legislation went to a nationwide vote, and failed.
"It was absolutely very tough indeed," Ólafur says. "Every big financial institution, both in Europe and in my own country was against me, and there were powerful forces, both in Iceland and Europe, that thought my decision was absolutely crazy."
The decision was hugely controversial, and remains a sore spot in relations.
For him, it was a matter of history.
"What is our primary legacy to countries and nations in modern times?"
He says, "Europe is and should be more about democracy than about financial markets. Based with this choice, it was in the end, clear that I had to choose democracy."
He also blames the British for their role, specifically Gordon Brown, by whom he believes Iceland is owed an apology.
Ólafur likens the situation to the Falklands war, adding it was a "great offense" that "one of the most peace-loving countries in the world, a founding member of NATO, a strong ally of Britain during the Second World War was put together with al-Qaeda and the Taliban on the official list of terrorist organizations."
Iceland essentially had no choice, Ólafur says.
"If you take the relative size of the Icelandic economy and the British economy," he explains, "and you transfer over to the British economy the sum that the British government was asking the Icelandic taxpayers to be responsible for due to the failure of this private bank, it would have been equal [...] to asking the British taxpayer to be responsible for an £800 billion bill [$1,275 billion] for a failed British bank in Spain and Italy and Greece."
To Ólafur's credit, the Icesave debts are likely to be settled soon, using money from the estate of Landsbanki.

Obama’s Swiss Banker

Head of Swiss finance house UBS Investment Bank is one of president’s biggest bundlers

One of President Obama’s largest financial backers is a key executive at the largest Swiss bank in the world, complicating his criticism of presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
Robert Wolf is president of Swiss financial giant UBS Investment Bank and chairman of UBS Americas. He has been one of Obama’s most prolific fundraisers dating back to 2006, when the former Senator from Illinois initiated his run for the White House.
Wolf has bundled more than $500,000 for the president’s reelection, campaign records show. He is but one of many wealthy bankers Obama has turned to in an effort to win a second term.
According to campaign reporter John Heilemann, Obama and Wolf first met in December 2006 in a conference room owned by liberal billionaire George Soros, who is currentlyembroiled in a domestic dispute with his 31-year-old ex-girlfriend.
It was a match made for the ages, Heilemann argued—the “hope and change” candidate and the sympathetic Wall Street millionaire.
Obama eagerly courted the “A-List New York donor,” who would become the future president’s “most copious cash collector in the city by far,” raising more than $500,000 for his 2008 campaign.
Wolf’s company, UBS, gave an additional $532,000, making it the 15th largest contributor to Obama’s first presidential run.
“The way Barack has taken this nation with his rock-star status,” Wolf told Heilemann in 2007, “it’s very exciting!”
Upon taking office in early 2009, Obama appointed Wolf to the Economic Recovery Advisory Board that would help craft the controversial $787 billion stimulus package.
Shortly after Wolf was appointed, UBS admitted to conspiring to defraud the Internal Revenue Service and agreed to pay $780 million to ward off a federal investigation into its activities.
Wolf was also one of several major Democratic donors named to the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. He remains a close adviser and golfing partner to the president. A recent Wall Street Journal article dubbed Wolf “a ‘fat cat’ with the president’s ear.”
In addition to his prolific efforts as a campaign bundler, Wolf has personally contributed almost $200,000 to Democratic candidates and committees since 2007, including at least $9,100 to Obama and more than $115,000 to the Democratic National Committee.
Last month, Wolf hosted a $35,800-per-plate fundraiser for the president in New York City.
Another Obama bundler, Charles Adams, also has a Swiss address, as Buzzfeed notedearlier this year; he “heads the office of the law firm Akin Gump in the Swiss capital. Adams raised more than $100,000 for Obama, according to the report.”
Despite relying so heavily on a Swiss financial institution, the Obama campaign and its Democratic allies have sought to make political hay of Romney’s Swiss bank account, which he closed in 2010.
Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D., Ill.) suggested that Romney used to keep assets in Switzerland because the former Massachusetts governor believed “the Swiss Franc is a stronger currency than the United States dollar.”
“Gov. Romney calls the president out of touch,” Vice President Joe Biden said earlier this month. “Hey, how many of y’all have a Swiss bank account?”
Rep. James Clyburn (D., S.C.) even likened Romney to a foreign despot.
“I think there’s something to be said about people who park their money offshore and we don’t know exactly what is in those accounts,” he said on MSNBC. “You know, when we look at despots from foreign countries putting their money in Swiss bank accounts—we always have frowned upon that.”
However, there has been little criticism from Democrats and the media establishment of the president’s dealings with Wolf.
That is a marked departure from the 2008 campaign, during which critics pilloried GOP nominee John McCain for employing former Texas Senator and UBS executive Phil Gramm as an adviser.
The campaign’s reliance on wealthy bankers such as UBS’s Wolf could complicate the president’s effort to portray himself as the anti-wealth candidate, characterized by his recent push for the so-called “Buffett Rule” to increase capital gains taxes on millionaires.
The president’s effort to blame the nation’s economic woes on abstract forces such as income inequality and the shady machinations of Wall Street bankers has been undercut by controversial campaign decisions—for example, his reversal on anonymous Super PACs, which he once called “a threat to our democracy”—as well as his increasing reliance on campaign bundlers like Wolf and disgraced Wall Street tycoon Jon Corzine.
Obama, who has aggressively sought out support from the super rich, including a number of high-profile celebrities, has already far outpaced his predecessor George W. Bush with respect to the number of fundraisers attended during his first term.

Lawmakers Who Abandon Constitution Are Criminals - CONS

CGI's Infoeditor: Schumer & Lawmakers Who Abandon Constitution Are Criminals - CONS

It should by now be an understood fact among American Citizens that these so-called lawmakers who do not abide by and uphold The U.S. Constitution are committing non-performance and/or malfeasance of duty while in office. That is, they are not executing their duties according to The U.S. Constitution, the supreme law of the land.
In this manner they are puporting to be authentic lawful agents of public office while failing to perform their duties, which constitutes fraud, deception, non-performance, and a host of other defects. They are, in effect, CONS as in CRIMINAL CONSPIRITORIAL, substitutes instead of the real thing. They have failed to provide effective border control security and are getting Border Patrol Officers and others killed. They have failed to stand up against the criminal illegal immigrant invasion. Think of them as what they are and do not respect them nor hold them in any esteem. They are junk, as in scum.
Nowhere does it say in their oaths that they should reach outside The United States and begin to develop fanclubs with illegal immigrants and other nations of peoples in order to build up their own constituencies. I am referring specifically to the likes of 'Dirty Harry' Reid, Chuck Schumer, Obama, Billary, David Paterson, Pelosi, 'Jan the Man Napolitano', and the host of other wannabe so-called officals.
This is the only clarification the public needs in order to identify that Schumer and these other bums are CONS, CRIMINAL MALFEASANT SCUM OCCUPYING OFFICE UNDER FALSE PRETEXT OF U.S. OFFICIALS.
Every U.S. official and even military officials who obey The United Nations is a CON. It goes by definition that those who obey foreign powers over a U.S. Congress are CONS. Call them what they are and don't 'join up'.

Justice Is Indivisible
Only Ron Paul Is Addressing The 10 Important Issues To Protect The United States Constitution From The Rothschild Banking Cabal!

What Do Ya Want To Do? HUH? What Do Ya Want To Do? Want to sit around and watch the banks shut you down or do you want it the other way around? You Know ~ 1776 ~ This is the EXACT reason We Founded The U.S. To Free Ourselves From The Banking Cabal Of Britain and their backdoor exploitation through Mafia Modus Operandi.
Rothschild’s Philosophy
Ron Paul: Repeal The 1913 Rothschild Federal Reserve: The Hidden Treasonists!
As we trudge through another presidential political season, the media seems to have already declared that the race will be between Mitt Romney and incumbent Barack Obama. This same establishment media appears desperate to identify meaningful differences between the two candidates.Yet they are in lock step on many of the most pressing issues facing America.
Sure they may have minor differences in how to bailout the economy through corporate welfare, or how to fight the war on terror (sic), or have a percentage or two difference in their tax policies; but they still view the status quo as acceptable. Neither candidate proposes any significant changes to transform a dying system that threatens to destroy the nation.
There is one candidate who’s speaking about crucial issues that no others even dare address: Congressman Ron Paul. Paul is still in a competitive race for the GOP nomination despite every attempt by the media to claim otherwise. He has many more delegates than has been admitted and his crowds of enthusiastic supporters dwarf all of the other GOP candidates combined. In fact, it’s increasingly difficult to believe that Romney has actually won any caucus or primaries based on his pathetic crowds.
Ron Paul is the only candidate whose intellectual honesty and consistency offers any hope of genuine solutions. Here are 10 issues that only Ron Paul is brave enough to address and propose solutions for:
Jesse Warren Image
1. End the War on Drugs: This issue is perhaps the most obvious area where Ron Paul clearly has the correct position, while Obama and Romney either have their heads in the sand or deep up the ass of special interests in their advocacy of continuing such a comically failed policy. The war on drugs costs the taxpayers billions of dollars each year with no effect on drug use. The only reasons to maintain such a horrible policy is to prop up those who benefit from the drug war itself. The only sane policy is to end the war on drugs and regulate their distribution and use. Paul also stands alone in calling for the legalization of industrial hemp, which by itself has the potential to save the U.S. economy.
2. Stop Corporate Welfare: From corporate welfare and bailouts to corporate personhood, Ron Paul is the only major candidate to have spoken out against these policies. Obama and Romney both supported the financial bailouts at the expense of taxpayers and continued tax benefits to huge multinational corporations. And Romney infamously said “corporations are human beings”, which Ron Paul quickly rebuked. Anyone who believes Obama or Romney, who both receive foolish sums of corporate campaign contributions, will do anything to reign in crony capitalism is kidding themselves.
3. Bring the Troops Home: Although Obama will likely claim he has brought the Iraq War to a close, in order to score political points, he has only shifted those resources to surrounding locations and remains as militant as ever in the Muslim world by starting new wars without Congress’ approval, while drone bombing several sovereign countries. He and Romney both talk of starting yet another war with Iran who has never even threatened America. Ron Paul is overwhelmingly supported by the troops because he seeks to bring them all home and end American aggression abroad.
4. Reform the Monetary System: The masses have woken up to the fact that the Federal Reserve and their predatory monetary policy is at the root of most economic problems. Ron Paul is not just the only candidate that is speaking about this, he’s likely the only politician in America that understands it. Debt-based money issued by an unaccountable private entity must end. Until we change to a fair and sound approach to currency, America will maintain its collision course to economic ruin. Ron Paul is the most qualified candidate to navigate the economy through transitioning from the ‘end stages’ of the Federal Reserve system to something better.
5. Restore Individual Liberty: Civil libertarians are appalled at the Obama presidency. Just when they thought it couldn’t get worse than under Bush, American citizens can now be assassinated without due process, jailed indefinitely without charges, must submit to a TSA full-body groping for the right to travel, have all their communications wiretapped, and can even be strip searched for minor infractions or the speculation of an infraction. Since Romney supports all of these measures and more, Ron Paul, again, is the only national candidate seeking to reverse these grotesque violations of our rights.
6. Stop Foreign Aid: Foreign aid, funded by our tax dollars, has been sold as a humanitarian policy. Yet, instance after instance, it has proven to be nothing more than a tool of imperial colonialism and corporate welfare. For example, AIDS medicine and vaccines for the Third World serve to fatten the pockets of Big Pharma more than they help the people who receive them. And military aid is always accompanied by a security agreement to protect American (corporate) interests, while the bulk of the “aid” is immediately funneled back to U.S. weapons manufacturers. It’s time to end the madness, and Ron Paul is the only one demanding we do just that.

7. Repeal the PATRIOT Act & NDAA: The PATRIOT Act, which Obama railed against during his 2008 campaign, was renewed for a full 4 years by his robo-signature. Essentially, the PATRIOT Act laid the groundwork for the 2012 NDAA which openly declares war on the American people as part of the “war on terror”. These bills remove basic civil liberties and constitutional rights making them unlawful acts. Ron Paul has promised to repeal them by Executive Order as soon as he’s in office.
8. Health Freedom: In America, you can eat GMO foods, MSG, gulp fluoride-laced water, smoke cigarettes, take Oxycontin, and drink all the alcohol you want; but don’t even think about drinking raw milk or using the healing properties of medical marijuana. Literally, no other politician in the entire country addresses the hypocrisy involved in limiting our health freedoms. Besides calling for the legalization of raw milk sales and legalization of marijuana, Paul also advocates deregulating natural health practitioners to expand healthcare choices for all Americans.
9. End the Income Tax: It’s still controversial to refer to the income tax as unconstitutional. Yet, that doesn’t change the fact that it is. The personal income tax is stealing from the labor of individuals. It’s modern-day slavery. Interestingly, the income tax wasn’t necessary in America until the Federal Reserve took over the monetary system in 1913 and debt-based money was issued. For all the naysayers about this issue, when we reform the monetary system, end the useless wars and other unproductive spending, the income tax will simply not be needed. Clearly, no other candidate would be so bold as to suggest ending the IRS while also having a sound philosophy and plan to actually make it work.

10. Increase Economic Competition: The current economy along with the government and its regulators are wholly run my mega-cartels. No genuine competition exists anymore. In other words, the free market is dead and has been for a long time. Paul’s advocacy of free-market economics is perhaps the most misunderstood of all his policies mainly because people view the economic tyranny we have today as the result of so-called “free markets”. Nothing could be further from the truth. Government regulators from the FDA to the EPA are run by mega-corporations who use regulations to prevent competitors from entering the marketplace. It’s a scam to believe these agencies are looking out for the best interest of Americans. It’s time to give small entrepreneurs the opportunity to compete once again; the bloated corporations wouldn’t stand a chance against free competition. Ultimately, this issue is consistent with Paul’s profound message of freedom. It must be applied to all aspects of our society, including the economy.
