OPPT has now crossed a dangerous line, inviting grave consequences. The Indonesian government has been notified, and is not likely to take this information lightly.  The task of deciding which of the principals are well-intentioned naïve dupes, and which are cabal agents will have to be decided by legal authorities. Meanwhile, the cunningly devised “Courtesy Notices” being promoted by OPPT carefully employ legal terms that bind the entire being and property of those who sign them (including assets, children, DNA, without limit) to OPPT nunc pro tunc praeterea preterea – a legal phrase meaning now and forever after.  This is a retread of the cabal’s old device of the enslaving Corporate Birth Certificates which turned human beings into income-generating securities traded in the City of London.  Independent legal analysis reveals the insidiously precise legal language that will bind the ignorant signers of the Courtesy Notices to a beyond-lifetime contract of bondage that is nearly unbreakable.  A devastating post from another researcher into OPPT will be shared shortly.  When it appears on Jean’s site, please share it as widely as you can to prevent this cabal-designed enslavement pact from spreading. The OPPT principals disavowed any connection with death threats made personally to Neil Keenan which warned him to “lay off” OPPT.  Undeterred, we went after them, concerned for others who also received threats. One day later, Neil Keenan survived what his doctor diagnosed as a poisoning attempt (not food poisoning – poison), only because he carries powerful anti-poison antidotes due to previous attempts. The naïve OPPT principals make jokes about the threats.  The cabal puppet masters who are pulling their strings simply carry them out.  Those of us working with Mr. Keenan to defeat the cabal and free humanity are not laughing. Well, actually, Neil Keenan is laughing.  He always is.  His bathroom wasn’t a pretty sight – take my word for it – but he was cracking jokes all through it, as usual. Neil Keenan took the high road, and took the OPPT at their word that they had no designs on the Global Collateral Accounts, which Keenan has been asked to manage by the rightful Depositors.  One day later, Brian Kelly’s post of OPPT’s conversations with UN Swissindo makes plain their real intentions.  Any doubts about the nature of this movement must now be removed. With mind-bending naivety, Mr. Kelly tells us that OPPT is not interested in gold and assets in discussions with UN Swissindo, but merely an “energetic exchange.”  Try looking up a definition of the nature and purpose of money, Brian – be it gold bars, currency, Federal Reserve notes, or Manhattan Island traded for Indian beads, it’s an “energetic exchange.”  UN Swissindo is pretending to represent money in the Global Accounts.  And OPPT is pretending to represent humanity. Both of you are, in fact, empty-handed. Brian Kelly tells us up front that OPPT has made no agreement with the shady organization calling itself UN Swissindo, and that all they desire is the greatest openness, transparency, and due diligence ever known to man. Fair enough.  OPPT’s communications with Swissindo as revealed by Kelly make it plain what OPPT really is, and what they’re really after. OPPT principal Paula Humfrey’s own words in an open letter to phony Indonesian “elder” Apriyanto are sufficiently appalling, with no spin – this is Vladimir Lenin’s recipe for revolution all over (and he was backed by the Rothschilds, too): “Our creator god will return to us what is rightly due, and then the value can be returned to the people. I believe that there is a way for our shared struggle to be over right now, in this moment. Please see the attached Military Order and Declaration that was filed as international and universal law by the One People’s Public Trust at the end of 2012. You have every right to arrest all of the actors to whom you refer in your most recent message. The banks have committed fraud and, as discussed above, the government of Indonesia is a corporation that has now been foreclosed by the One People’s Public Trust. It is not an organic government for the people, but instead a corporation beholden to its investors. I send to you this day another filing that allows the military to take into custody any and all actors, providing that no harm be should be done to them. I trust you will know how to implement this very powerful tool. Please empower the Indonesian military to arrest corrupt bankers and government officials so that they can do no more harm to the people of Indonesia. The One People’s Public Trust Military Order mandates that every soul on the planet is safe: no harm will be done to another being. However, it is very important to stop these beings from committing further crimes against the people. The future is for our children, and it is our duty and responsibility to make it available to them, free from any wars that these ACTORS and CRIMINALS would like to initiate. I know full well of their crimes and manipulation. This is why the One People’s Public Trust has foreclosed on these illegal corporations acting under the disguise of people’s governments. This is why the One People’s Public Trust has foreclosed on all the central banks of the world, including Indonesia’s (Rakyat). The Indonesian people should feel empowered immediately to undertake changes to business and civic systems…” The combination of arrogance, incipient tyranny, and naivety in this statement is breathtaking.  Humfrey’s assurance that “no being shall be harmed” borders on the idiotic – does she really believe that the Indonesian military will go about peacefully arresting their own government and corporate/financial structure without bloodshed?  This absurdity would tempt us to let the whole thing slide – who would take this seriously?  But the forces behind OPPT, the ones who issued the death threat against Neil Keenan for exposing them (and then presumably carried it out), have a powerful agenda in mind – one that has historically worked for them before.  It goes like this: 1.      As revolutionary forces gather among the oppressed people, create or co-opt a movement to control the revolution from within. 2.      Promise the people undreamed-of freedom and abundance – a six-million dollar check for everyone!  (or was it five billion?).  Doesn’t matter – all we have to do is pry loose our rightful abundance from those bad, bad people who believe they own it.  Down with the Bastille! 3.      Once the revolution has released the pent-up yearning for freedom, move in to reclaim the assets for the puppet-masters, under the “new system” of the Wonderful Oneness of the One People and their One Trust….which owns everyone and everything – the ultimate cabal dream. Let’s think about this for a moment.  All government and corporate structures are “foreclosed.”  What does that leave?  The OPPT.  The military is urged to arrest their own superiors, the elected governments, and any and all bankers and corporate officials as well.  Meanwhile, the judiciary of these governments has been disbanded as well, so who does that leave?  The OPPT.  Who is to determine the guilt or innocence of those arrested?  Why, Paula Humfrey, of course, because as she tells us in her own words: “I know full well of their crimes and manipulation.” In the words of Severus Snape, Paula, I can only say…”How grand it must be to be ‘The Chosen One’!” In practical terms, what does this scenario invite, if OPPT does indeed become the world-wide movement they aspire to be?  What would happen if Mr. Apriyanto were foolish enough to follow Ms. Humfrey’s advice, and incite an overthrow of the Indonesian government, utilizing some faction of the military? Let’s not kid ourselves that it involves a love-fest of BE-ing and DO-ing. It is the cabal’s recipe for chaos and bloodshed – a manipulated revolution that permits either a police-state crackdown and cabal seizure of the Global Accounts, or a phony revolutionary victory….and cabal seizure of the Global Accounts. I’m trying really hard to remember here just when it was I gave Paula Humfrey this power on my behalf.  I must have forgotten to “oppt-in” – but then that doesn’t really matter, because that makes me one of the “actors” to be arrested.  OK, Paula, here goes – I will now openly admit my guilt, in an unabashedly anti-OPPT, pro-freedom manifesto: ·       I believe in the rights of private property, and my right to keep that which I have earned – even if that property takes the form of an asset connected with a corporation “foreclosed” by a phony revolutionary movement I abhor ·       I believe in the freedom of sovereign nations and individual cultures to determine their own destiny, free of any interference from globalist banking cabals….or from phony revolutionary movements I abhor ·       I believe in the decentralization of authority to local governments that reflect the values and traditions of the people who live there, within a loose protective confederation of peace-loving nations that guarantees basic human rights, but otherwise leaves people to their own lives, in keeping with the original revolutionary American motto – “Don’t Tread on Me!”…in contrast to the “One World – One People” globalist fig leaf of a phony revolutionary movement I abhor ·       I believe that Mr. Neil Francis Keenan is the kick-ass sheriff chosen by wacky destiny to clean up the fraudsters who’ve been feeding off the Global Collateral Accounts, and that he will then implement humanitarian programs around the world, and I don’t give a rat’s behind if that fact distresses a phony revolutionary movement I abhor. And while you’re trying to find some Indonesian insurrectionist to come arrest me, you might also want to glance over your shoulder for the arrival of the Chinese authorities who may decide to enforce the Qing Dynasty’s rightful claim to 85% of the assets you have just told Mr. Apriyanto now belong to “the People.” Claiming to represent an asset you do not own, and entering into negotiations for the transfer of that asset, is criminal financial fraud – something you and Mr. Apriyanto and Swissindo might want to keep in mind.  OPPT’s statements render the principals subject to arrest for criminal financial fraud.  That includes: PAULA HUMFREY HEATHER ANN TUCCI-JARRAF BRIAN KELLY LISA HARRISON CALEB SKINNER …and any other OPPT principals who may now be subject to arrest by virtue of their involvement in financial fraud. A final note: how can anyone expect that the long-suffering nations of Asia, who have seen their property stolen and defrauded by the West for the last sixty years, would consign those assets to this group of NWO lackeys? Since Mr. Keenan has been appointed by the Depositors as the new sheriff of the Global Accounts, it might be a good idea to let everyone know just how this works: who owns the assets, who doesn’t and how they may be rightfully utilized. First of all, a historical note: Neil Keenan is in this position because he fought the cabal at the risk of his life to recover assets entrusted to his care – and in the process revealed to the world (and especially to the Dragon Family) two things: a) that the Global Accounts had been defrauded by a malevolent banking elite and b) that he is smart enough, just real enough, tough enough, fearless enough, well-connected enough, and honest enough to follow through and take these bastards down. Who owns the Assets?  The banking cabal created the Global Collateral Accounts via a historic subterfuge, under the rubric of preventing endless wars for gold by gathering up the global reserves into a collateral fund.  This was begun with the founding of the Bank of International Settlements in the early 1920s, designed by the Rothschilds and their cabal allies as the central bank of central banks.  After triggering the Great Depression, the bankrupt United States of America willingly surrendered her gold. The other nations needed a little more persuasion – especially the gold-rich nations of Asia, where the greater part of the world’s supply had accumulated over two thousand years.  The cabal funded the Japanese Imperial rape and plunder of East Asia, encompassing the systematic seizure of the continent’s gold supply in Operation Golden Lily.  It is now estimated that 85% of the total gold in the Accounts is in fact owned by China in the person of the Qing Empress, who has recently been elected from within the Dynasty to assume authority over the Royal Treasury, with the backing of essential military and government factions within the Chinese power structure. (The Empress has invited Mr. Keenan to manage the accounts on the Dynasty’s behalf, and has offered him a seat on the Dynasty Council). The remainder of the gold and assets in the Accounts are owned by other nations, as recorded in the Account ledgers. Who may rightfully move, utilize, or place the assets into trade? Only the Depositors!  Not the Holders (the Indonesian and other elders who have guarded the bunkers – they are owed long-overdue compensation, which Mr. Keenan will see to it that they receive).  Not the Federal Reserve and the cabal cronies.  And not bogus entities in Switzerland which set up a phony United Nations knock-off lectern and read aloud phony disbursements of astronomical sums to the nations of the world. How did OPPT first get the idea they might access the Accounts?  One contact was with Mr. Malik Hughes, a key ally of Mr. Keenan’s with the Qing Dynasty office, who informed us that OPPT reached out to him to try to determine if they could reach the mysterious “Madam Wu.”  The real Madam Wu is dead.  The phony one (a mid-level bank functionary in China) has had to deeply apologize to the Empress several times for presumption, in hopes of avoiding retribution.  OPPT claimed that Malik promised them access to the assets.  He emphatically denies this and states he made it clear to them “they got nothing – no assets whatsoever”. They then connected with Swissindo so they could still promise their followers a “rose garden” by some other route. But as is now plain, neither of them have anything to offer. What are Mr. Keenan’s plans for the Global Accounts?  Simple, folks.  Audit them (a huge task).  Freeze out the bad guys who’ve been defrauding them (almost there).  Emergency relief for hard-hit areas.  Humanitarian, free-energy, and infrastructure programs world-wide.  A responsible structure put in place for permanent guardianship with the blessing of the nations.  A balancing of the historic wrongs done by the West to Asia, and to the world, through restoration of the assets to the rightful owners. This fight has now moved into a decisive and final phase.  Allies around the world are cheering Mr. Keenan on, telling him that he is winning decisively.  It’s not easy.  It’s not predictable.  It’s not glamorous.  And it’s not entirely safe.  But it’s worth it.  The world already owes him a debt of gratitude.  And we are grateful for your prayers on his behalf.  And we thank all those friends and allies who have given Mr. Keenan the information, protection, and support needed to complete this great task. Italian Supreme Court President Blames Bilderberg For Terrorist Attacks

Document says secretive group was involved in “strategy of tension”

Honorary President of the Supreme Court of Italy and former Senior Investigative Judge Ferdinando Imposimato, the man who prosecuted the case involving the assassination attempt against Pope John Paul II, has sensationally accused the Bilderberg Group of being behind terrorist attacks in Europe.

In an interview with the ArticoloTre website, Imposimato, who was also involved in the case involving the kidnapping and murder of former Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro, said that he “found a document that left me appalled” implicating the Bilderberg Group in conspiring with the far right organization Ordine Nuovo to commit terror attacks.
Speaking of unsolved murders in Italy and the document in his possession, Imposimato stated, “When it comes to slaughter it also speaks of the Bilderberg Group. I believe this document. I did some tests and I can say that behind the strategy of tension and the slaughters there is also the Bilderberg group, a sort of Big Brother is over, maneuvering, using terrorists and Masons. “
The “strategy of tension” refers to a policy under the auspices of Operation Gladio, a NATO cold war “stay behind” project that sought to create an expedient political climate in Europe by having its agents carry out terror attacks which were then blamed on both far left and far right political groups.
Gladio was designed to demonize political opposition and “force the public to turn to the state to ask for greater security,” according to the testimony of former Gladio agent Vincenzo Vinciguerra. In 2000, an Italian parliamentary investigation found that the 1980 Bologna train bombing, which killed 85 people, was carried out by “men inside Italian state institutions and … men linked to the structures of United States intelligence.”
“You had to attack civilians, the people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far removed from any political game,” Vinciguerra explained in sworn testimony.
“The reason was quite simple. They were supposed to force these people, the Italian public, to turn to the state to ask for greater security. This is the political logic that lies behind all the massacres and the bombings which remain unpunished, because the state cannot convict itself or declare itself responsible for what happened,” he added.
Imposimato stated that he was given the document by a former Ordine Nuovo terrorist. Members of Ordine Nuovo (Italian for “New Order”) participated in numerous deadly terrorist attacks, including the 1969 Piazza Fontana bombing, the 1970 Rome-Messina train attack, the 1974 Piazza della Loggia bombing in Brescia, and the Italicus Express bombing in 1974.
The Bilderberg Group is an annual confab of around 120 of the most influential power brokers on the planet from the world of politics, business, banking, academia, media, and even royalty. The organization’s yearly meeting is held in a plush hotel resort in either Europe, Canada or America, but despite a plethora of heavy hitters in attendance, the mainstream media affords the event scant coverage, labeling it a mere talking shop despite former NATO Secretary-General and Bilderberg member Willy Claes’ 2010 admission that Bilderberg attendees are mandated to implement policy decisions that are formulated during the meeting.
There are innumerable other examples of how Bilderberg has influenced major global events ahead of time, picking Presidents and Prime Ministers on a regular basis with total contempt for the democratic process.
In 2009, Bilderberg chairman Étienne Davignon even bragged about how the Euro single currency was a brainchild of the Bilderberg Group.
Imposimato’s broadside against Bilderberg follows in the footsteps of his compatriot Alfonso Luigi Marra, a prominent lawyer who recently requested that the Public Prosecutor of Rome investigate the Bilderberg Group for criminal activity, questioning whether the elitist organization’s 2011 meeting in Switzerland led to the selection of Mario Monti as Prime Minister of Italy.
Labeling the group a “unique, illegal brotherhood” of elitists who consider themselves to be “above the law,” Marra pointed the finger at Bilderberg for engineering wars, economic collapses, and arming dictators, activities which, “constitute an obvious, blatant violation, to say the least, of the articles of the Criminal Code.”
The precise date and location of the 2013 Bilderberg meeting is yet to be confirmed, although speculation has centered around the confab taking place somewhere near London in early June.

24 IRS workers in TN accused of theft

Feds say they stole jobless benefits, welfare, more

First it was the families of dead people and state employees. Now, authorities say Internal Revenue Service employees in Tennessee were stealing unemployment and other benefits while fully employed.
On Thursday, 13 of those employees were indicted on federal charges that they lied to get unemployment, food stamps, welfare and housing vouchers. An additional 11 have been indicted on state charges of theft greater than $1,000.
In all, authorities say the workers improperly received more than $250,000 in government benefits.
“You’ve got these employees that are taking advantage of the system that they are so intimate with it by virtue of their jobs,” said Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirech, whose office is handling the state prosecutions. “It’s doubly frustrating.”
The investigation originated with the U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, a Treasury Department agency that is responsible for oversight of the IRS. The agency in recent years has been focusing on IRS employees who illegally draw government benefits as part of what they call “Operation Double Dip.”
On Monday, for example, federal prosecutors in Indianapolis announced convictions of four former IRS employees in a similar scheme. In that case, employees would properly collect unemployment while furloughed, but they failed to report when they returned to work, which should have cut off benefits.
Thursday’s indictments accuse the 24 employees of fraudulently obtaining those benefits going as far back as 2006 and as recently as Dec. 31, 2012.
“According to the allegations in the indictment, while these IRS employees were supposed to be serving the public, they were instead brazenly stealing from law-abiding American taxpayers,” U.S. Attorney Edward L. Stanton III, who oversees federal prosecutions in West Tennessee, said in a prepared statement.

News follows audit

The indictments come just weeks after a state audit found more than $73 million in over payments were made by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development over the past several years. That audit turned up 24 active state employees who received more than $126,000 in unemployment benefits and seven dead people who were paid out $12,387. The state said the majority of those cases involved fraud.
Thursday’s indictments were not directly connected to the state audit, said Jeff Hentschel, spokesman for the state labor department. He said federal investigators actually enlisted the state’s help in investigating the fraud in May 2011.
“The agency considers combating and preventing fraudulent overpayments a top priority, as well as recouping improper payments resulting from fraud,” Hentschel said. “We will continue to enlist the help of agencies like the OIG to assist in this effort.”
Prosecutors identified the 13 indicted in federal court as: Angela Allison, 37; Jessica Davis, 35; Serina Gaither, 37; Teresa Jenkins, 46; Joanne Johnson, 46; Cynthia McKinney, 38; Angela Scales, 28; Dorothy Simmons, 35; Mary Weeks, 61; Evonna Yarbrough, 42, all of Memphis, along with Gale Baker, 54, of Cordova; Shari House, 45, of Jackson, and Talaria Mitchell, 35, of Southaven, Miss.
Each has been charged with multiple counts of false statements, in violation of Section 1001 of Title 18 of the United States Code. A conviction under that statute can result in up to five years in prison.
Eleven other former and current IRS employees were charged by the District Attorney General’s Office with theft of property over $1,000, a class D felony.
The 11 charged in state court are identified as: Raya Banks, 47; Clara Cannon, 61; Alma Childers, 64; Cathryn Fair, 50; Robert Graves, 60; Mechell Hampton, 35; Nicole Nickson, 39; Diane Malone, 56; Myra Thompson, 32; Katina Thurman, 39, and Pamela Williams, 47, all of Memphis.

'You would expect better,' DA says

Weirich said cases such as these can erode public trust in government workers.
“Both current and former employees, they were just bilking money from the government, from the state and the federal government — housing, unemployment, food stamps, welfare, all of that,” she said. “You would expect better from an IRS agent. We all expect better from all of our government employees.”
This seems to be a drop in the bucket compared to what the thieves in the District of Criminals do on a daily basis....Why are we not arresting all the bad guys there?

First post and probably the last. I felt so impressed to write this, so here goes. I know no one on this site and have no reputation that you should believe me. But if my words are true you are going to want to consider. When the news of the dinar came to me I began to pray concerning the opportunity.

It was September 2010 when the the Lord clearly showed us to go forward. We had waited for that confirmation for several years. Afterwards, the Lord has spoken four things to me.

1) There will be the test of delay.

2) This dinar will reveal what is truly in your soul

3) There will be a short window of time in which to act after the revalue

4) If you seek to hold onto the windfall you will loose it.

The Lord told me in Sweetwater TN that the dinar would "test your soul".

Since then I have seen all kinds of Christians arguing and fighting about certain things pertaining to the dinar. It should not be that way. I see people regularly engaging in name calling, especially against Maliki, I see the desperation for funds that seems to continually be present with all kinds of people.

Others talk about spending wildly/foolishly on things that are extreme luxuries. It appears my word is coming to pass. Many many people are looking to the dinar as the provision, rather than Him who is the Provider. I really had to check my heart as well. He is asking me personally, where do I get my information? There is a prophetic people that has been seated across the land for the purpose of the Kingdom of God. Starting in around the beginning of 2009 the Lord told us that there would begin the emergence of the Elijah ministry in the earth. This was previsouly told to us in 1996, so it was no surprise when it came about 13 years later. What we did not realize that it would not only be Elijah, but Elisha as well. We did not see the big picture, and perhaps still do not.

When this Elisha ministry began we started to see the miracles of Elisha come to pass in a very public, national manner. The eigth sign was the poison in the pot. We learned from the news that the Gulf of Mexico was also called a cauldron on underwather charts. When the oil spill threatened all life in the gulf, we recognized it was the poison in the pot. A group of hidden intercessors went to the headwaters of the Mississippi and threw ground barley meal as instructed by the Lord into the river. Exactly 144 hours and 9 minutes later BP announced the plugging of the well; the approximate time it takes water to flow the river to the gulf. 144 is the number representing the elect that now stand among you.

The ninth sign to come is the multiplication of provsion. Many people have now comfirmed that this is linked to the dinar. The Lord has been quiet on this since last July, and we expect the final 8 signs (9-16) to begin to come to pass around this year's Passover.. We are very close, but do not know exactly how this will play out.

The Eurphrates flowed under the walls of Babylon. To overcome this city, the Medes and Persians diverted the flow of the water into a swampy area so that they might sneak into the city under the wall. The night before the attack a wild party was happening in Babylon and so the people we hung over the next morning. The armies took the city without much resistance and it still stands today. This story speaks of how the money system, represented by Babylon will fall.

If you can receive it, the Medes are the media. The Persians are Iran. The wall is Wall Street. The Eurphates is the substance (money) that keeps the city propped up. The orgy has been going on in Washington DC now for some time. We are looking for the time in which the handwriting on the wall will appear. That sign will tell us exactly when the money system will fail. To bring about this demise the Euphrates (bountiful) will be diverted. We believe this is the sign of the dinar revaluation. It will happen to bring about the fall of Mystery Babylon.

The dollar is the means by which money changers enslaved the world in debt. How much do you think the God will overthrow or kick over the tables of the SYSTEM that keeps people entrapped and the gospel from going forth? There is no way anyone can understand why this is happening to the dollar unless you first understand what is happening in world commerce. Since most Christians are comepletely ignorant, they view the coming crash as something terrible, but in reality the kingdoms of the world are becoming the kingdom of our God.

Mystery Babylon is mysterious. It was called this because of its hidden-ness. The Lord did not want to replace the yoke of wood He gave the earth with a yoke of iron, therefore, the world was sold into.

Detroit Police Accused of ‘Kidnapping’ Homeless People, Leaving Them Outside City Limits

Following a year-long investigation, the ACLU has filed a complaint demanding that Detroit Police halt what it calls the “disturbing practice” of literally driving away the homeless, often leaving them to fend for themselves in unfamiliar areas.

According to complaints received by the civil rights group, Detroit Police officers routinely approach homeless people living in such areas as Greektown, which is popular with tourists, force them into vans, and drive them miles away into often unfamiliar areas.
According to CBS Detroit, there are even cases where officers have allegedly taken any money from the homeless, forcing them to walk back to the city. Several individuals who have come forward describe being dropped off beyond city limits, sometimes in neighboring communities such as River Rouge and Dearborn.
Sarah Mehta, a staff attorney for the ACLU of Michigan who spoke with the local CBS affiliate, says the accusations represent a grave case of discrimination.
“DPD’s practice of essentially kidnapping homeless people and abandoning them miles away from the neighborhoods they know – with no means for a safe return — is inhumane, callous and illegal,” said Mehta. “The city’s desire to hide painful reminders of our economic struggles cannot justify discriminating against the poor, banishing them from their city, and endangering their lives. A person who has lost his home has not lost his right to be treated with dignity.”
As part of its case against the city police, the ACLU has published the stories of five homeless individuals who state that they were“taken for a ride” by police. The organization was also contacted by a local warming center, a facility where the homeless can seek shelter from the cold.
Andrew Sheehan, a 37-year-old homeless man who spoke with the organization, claims city police have forcibly driven him away on four occasions since December 2011. A video posted by the ACLU shows Sheehan describing one of his more disturbing encounters with police:
“I had my back turned to him and I did not see him approaching, and the first thing he did was he kicked me. He didn’t identify himself as an officer and he kicked me and told me to get up,” said Sheehan. “I asked him if I was free to go. He told me no.”
According to Michigan Thomas, Outreach Coordinator at the St. Peter and Paul Jesuit Church Warming Center, once driven away, these homeless individuals often spend hours walking to shelters and churches for refuge and a hot meal.
As of 2012, some 20,000 of Michigan’s total 100,000 homeless population lived in Detroit. At least a third of the city’s homeless are thought to be mentally ill, and the city can only offer 5,032 shelter beds. According to the Detroit Free Press, the number of mentally ill increased significantly after former Governor John Engler shuttered 10 of the 16 state psychiatric hospitals in the 1990s.
Responding to the ACLU’s complaint, Detroit Police Chief Chester Logan responded that he would be looking into the matter.
“At the present time, the Detroit Police Department has not received a copy of the complaint that has been filed,” said Logan. “Therefore, it would be inappropriate to provide further comment without reviewing the specific allegations.”
