How Much Oil Does the World Produce?

In the first installment of this series, I took a look at U.S. and global oil reserves according to the 2012 BP Statistical Review of World Energy. Today, I want to examine oil production statistics since 1965. Highlights of this article and topics that will be explored include:

• New global oil production record set in 2011, but the growth rate is slowing
• Global oil production has grown by 163% since 1965
• Production picked up in the U.S. again during President Obama’s first year in office
• U.S. share of global oil production dropped from 24% in 1970 to 9% in 2011
• Quality of oil produced today is lower than it used to be

World Oil Production Facts and Figures

The first graphic shows the growth in oil production from 1965 to 2011. A new global oil production record was set in 2011 at 83.6 million barrels per day. This figure includes production of crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs), which are not indicated separately.  (In the U.S., around 25% of NGLs end up as refinery inputs; most of the rest is petrochemical feedstock).
Global production is lower than BP’s reported consumption figure of 88 million barrels per day (also a record) because the latter includes contributions from biofuels, fuels derived from coal, and any other fuels that are not derived from petroleum. Inventory changes would also be reflected in this number (i.e., one could in theory consume more in 2011 than was produced by drawing down inventories from 2010).
The data show that global oil production grew between 1965 and 2011 by 163%, which represents an average annual growth rate of 2.1%. While many were convinced that crude oil had peaked in 2005, production in 2011 was around 2.7% higher than the 2005 production level. However, the average annual growth rate from 2005 to 2011 was only 0.4%, far below the historical average.
Note that those who are projecting oil production in 2030 to be 100 million or 115 million barrels per day are assuming higher growth rates than have been seen in recent years. One must assume 0.95% average annual growth to get 100 million bpd in 2030, and 1.3% to get 115 million bpd in 2035. Thus, even if you discount the possibility of an oil production peak, the recent slow growth — in the face of record oil prices — would result in oil production falling far short of  those rosy projections. (To be clear, I do not believe 2030 oil production will exceed 2011 oil production).

President Obama: An Oilman in the Oval Office?

The next figure shows the history of U.S. oil production, which peaked in 1970 at 11.3 million barrels per day. Again, this includes roughly 2 million bpd of NGLs, which explains why the Energy Information Administration pegs the 1970 peak at 9.6 million bpd.

After 1970, U.S. production declined until 1977 when the Alaska pipeline began to operate. Following a few years of rising production as Alaskan oil production ramped up, the decline continued until 2008 when production reached 6.7 million bpd — 40% below the 1970 peak (per the BP data).
Then President Obama came riding to the rescue, and oil production has been rising ever since. At least that’s the story as I am sure it will unfold as the presidential campaign heats up. U.S. oil production in 2011 is in fact 16% higher than it was during the final year of the Bush Administration.
In reality, the rise in U.S. oil production is due to three factors: 1). Breakthroughs in hydraulic fracturing opened up new oil production opportunities in North Dakota and Texas; 2). Record oil prices resulted in record investments by oil companies for new production; and 3). Higher oil prices enabled more marginal oil to be produced (made possible by the first two factors).
Note that none of these factors are really influenced by the actions of U.S. presidents (although longer term, their policies can have significant impact). However, politicians like to take credit when things are going well, and point fingers when things are going badly, so I expect there to be a lot of rhetoric around this topic in coming months. While we can debate the reasons, of one thing I am fairly certain. U.S. oil production will rise again this year, which means President Obama will have presided over 4 straight years of increasing domestic oil production. This will be the first time that has taken place since the administration of Lyndon B. Johnson.

U.S. Oil Production Compared to Rest of the World

The final graphic shows U.S. production in relation to the global total.

Because U.S. production has fallen over the years (even though production has been rising, 2011 production was still 31% below the peak level of 1970) and because global production has risen, the U.S. percentage of global crude production has declined from 24% in 1970 to 9% in 2011. Nevertheless, the U.S. is still the 3rd largest oil producer in the world, trailing only Saudi Arabia (11.1 million bpd) and Russia (10.3 million bpd). But one very big difference between us and them is that they produce far more than they use, and therefore make lots of money exporting oil. We produce far less than we use, and so we spend a lot of money on imports (with some of that money going to Saudi Arabia and Russia).
One final note about oil production that gets very little attention is the fact that the 83.6 million barrels produced in 2011 is of a lower quality than the 32 million barrels produced in 1965. Crude oil is getting heavier, contains more sulfur (i.e., is more sour) and requires more energy both to produce and to refine. While BP does not track this information, a quick look at the EIA data on crude oil quality confirms it. They only track the data back to 1985, but since then the overall mix of oil going to U.S. refineries is 5.5% heavier and contains 54% more sulfur.
The implications from this are: 1). Refineries have to become more complex to process this oil; 2). The net energy that can be obtained from a barrel of oil is declining; and 3). As a result the costs to process it are higher. This trend will continue as the world uses up the remaining supplies of light, sweet crude oil.

The collateral damage that the U.S. Supreme Court inflicted when a 5-4 majority found a right to “same-sex marriage” in the U.S. Constitution could end up before the high court itself.

Rowan County, Kentucky, clerk Kim Davis already is appealing to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals a federal court’s decision ordering her to issue marriage license to same-sex couples, said Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel, who represents Davis.
U.S. District Judge David Bunning issued a temporary stay of his order last week as Davis pursued her appeal.
Many analysts have predicted the conflict will have to be resolved at by the Supreme Court.
“To issue a license for same-sex marriage violates the core of Kim Davis’ Christian beliefs,” Staver said Wednesday. “This is not tangential to her beliefs but rather amounts to open disobedience to God. There are alternative ways to accommodate the religious conviction of Kim Davis, and that is what we will ask the court of appeals to consider.”
Liberty Counsel is seeking a stay from the 6th Circuit that would last during the course of the appeal.
In June, the Supreme Court’s Obergefell decision created a right to “same-sex marriage” over the vehement objections and warnings of four justices and the First Amendment’ protections for freedom of religion.

The Davis cases poses the question of whether or not the government can force someone to violate constitutional religious rights in order to accommodate the newly recognized right to “same-sex marriage.”
Kentucky Gov. Steven Beshear, a Democrat, has told clerks to issue the licenses or resign. But that order would appear to create a religious test for public officials, meaning those with disfavored beliefs would be banned from office, which is unconstitutional.
When Bunning issued his order, Liberty Counsel immediately filed a Notice of Appeal in the case.
The judge’s ruling appeared to advance President Obama’s ongoing campaign to replace “freedom of religion” with “freedom of worship.”
WND has reported that for years the Obama administration has referenced the First Amendment constitutional protection in new language.
Most recently, a big list of prominent faith leaders joined to ask Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to fix a problematic document that references “worship” rather than “religion.”
“We … write to you with deep concern about the wording of the answer to question 51 on the study materials for the civics portion of the naturalization exam. The question asks students to provide two rights guaranteed to everyone living in the United States, and listed among the possible correct answers is ‘freedom of worship.’ We write to you requesting that this answer be immediately corrected to the constitutionally accurate answer – ‘freedom of religion,’” the letter said.
“We believe that the wording change we are requesting represents much more than a ‘distinction without a difference.’ Many totalitarian forms of government have allowed for the freedom of worship in their governmental documents but in practice severely restricted individual religious freedoms. The phrase freedom of worship, as it has been used throughout history, articulates an intentionally limited freedom that restricts a citizen’s rights to the four walls of a government-sanctioned house of worship and only for specific times and events.”
The letter was issue by the Weyrich Lunch participants. The group is named after the late chairman of the Free Congress Research and Education Foundation Paul Weyrich.
Bunning wrote that Davis can live out her beliefs privately. But he ruled she cannot exercise her “freedom of religion” publicly.
Davis defied the order, declining to respond to immediate demands from homosexual activists for licenses, pending a resolution to her case.

Bunning wrote: “The state is not asking her to condone same-sex unions on moral or religious grounds, nor is it restricting her from engaging in a variety of religious activities. Davis remains free to practice her Apostolic Christian beliefs. She may continue to attend church twice a week, participate in Bible study and ministry to female inmates at the Rowan County Jail. She is even free to believe that marriage is a union between one man and one woman, as many Americans do.
“However, her religious convictions cannot excuse her from performing the duties that she took an oath to perform as Rowan County Clerk,” he said, citing the new same-sex marriage right.
The judge missed the fact that there was no constitutional right to “same-sex marriage” when Davis took her oath.
Early in President Obama’s tenure in the White House, Catholic Online and other media outlets reported what appeared to be a deliberate attack on the Constitution’s “freedom of religion” protections.
The report noted a crucial change in Obama’s language between his June 2009 speech in Cairo, Egypt, where he spoke of a Muslim America and its “freedom of religion,” and the November 2009 memorial for the Fort Hood soldiers gunned down by a radical Muslim, where he termed it “freedom of worship.”
From that point, “freedom of worship” has become the term of choice, the report said.
The use of the term in the naturalization process recently drew attention in Congress.
Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., charged during a recent hearing that included Johnson that the government is “misrepresenting” the First Amendment.
“We in the United States actually have freedom of religion, not freedom of worship,” Lankford said.

He said: "The questionnaire civics test has in it one of these things, 'What are two rights of everyone living in the United States, and it listed out six different things: freedom of expression, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to petition the government, freedom of worship, the right to bear arms. I'd love to see 'freedom of worship' switched to 'freedom of religion.'"
Sarah Torre of the Heritage Foundation said the difference is significant. In practice across America, the "freedom to worship" seldom has been challenged or even questioned. But "freedom of religion" is under direct fire.
Bunning charged that the Supreme Court's ruling means same-sex couples seeking a marriage license cannot be denied. And his ruling puts the First Amendment's protections regarding freedom of religion in a secondary position.
Liberty Counsel has pointed out that those who brought the case have the option to obtain their license in more than 100 other locations but refused in order to target Davis specifically.
The legal team noted Bunning's reference to the fact that Davis' rights "are, in fact, being both 'threaten[ed]' and 'infringe'd]' by plaintiffs' demands for her approval of their proposed unions."
"The court stated that 'this civil action presents a conflict between two individual liberties held sacrosanct in American jurisprudence,'" the document explains.
WND reported Davis also has brought a case against her own governor, Beshear, for arbitrarily picking and choosing religious beliefs for exemptions from the law and thus putting her in the position to be a defendant in the current case.
Davis asks that Beshear be made liable for any damages that might be assessed against her in the marriage case.
"Beshear is unlawfully picking and choosing the conscience-based exemptions to marriage that he deems acceptable," says the complaint, brought by Liberty Counsel on behalf of Davis against Beshear.
"For instance, when Attorney General [Jack] Conway refused to defend Kentucky's marriage laws, Beshear did not admonish Conway that 'neither your oath nor the Supreme Court dictates what you must believe. But as elected officials, they do prescribe how we must act,' but Gov. Beshear did so direct county clerks like Davis."

The case is one of the first to develop since the Obergefell decision.
When the Supreme Court announced the decision June 26, Justice Samuel Alito said it "usurps the constitutional right of the people to decide whether to keep or alter the traditional understanding of marriage."
"The decision will also have other important consequences," he said. "It will be used to vilify Americans who are unwilling to assent to the new orthodoxy. In the course of its opinion, the majority compares traditional marriage laws to laws that denied equal treatment for African-Americans and women. The implications of this analogy will be exploited by those who are determined to stamp out every vestige of dissent."

A British city council member has told street preachers that he supports their right to speak on public streets, as long as they avoid one particular topic.

“Preachers do have a right to be out on the streets, but I do not think it right if they are talking about morality,” Pat Karney, a member of the Manchester council, said recently, according to the Christian Institute, a U.K. non-profit.
The institute, which long has worked to support the rights of street preachers, told Karney in a letter it even “has funded several legal cases where local authorities or the police have unlawfully interfered with” the rights of the preachers.
The letter was addressed to Karney with a request to clarify whether the council intended to restrict street preachers and, if so, on what legal basis.
The letter warned the treatment of street preachers by governments is a “helpful barometer of tolerance.”
Karney has said police will continue to clamp down on “noisy” preachers,” and he warned preaching that addresses sexual behavior is “not proper at all.”
“They’re perfectly entitled to talk about Jesus and the word of God, but not to make anyone feel insecure or threatened,” he said.
The institute reported Karney’s comments to the local newspaper, because it has yet to get a response to its letter.
Dinesh D’Souza’s “What’s so Great About Christianity” responds head-on to the anti-God arguments of atheists such as Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens.
An institute spokesman noted: “We are still no clearer about whether restrictions will be applied to street preachers in Manchester and remain concerned about potential police action. … Councilor Karney has not provided any legal grounds for this crackdown, and runs the risk of legal action being taken if the free speech rights of street preachers are interfered him.”
A few weeks ago, Karney announced a crackdown on sales people on the streets, those collecting for charities, “noisy” musicians and street preachers.
The institute said its defense of the rights of street preachers is currently revving up because of the government’s proposals for “Extremism Disruption Orders,” which essentially are bans on some types of speech.
Sir Jonathan Evans, the former chief of the nation’s MI5 intelligence agency, has warned “harmless evangelical street preachers” could be targeted by the government under that process.
“In a secular, liberal democracy like ours, waging this sort of war of ideas is extremely difficult and I have yet to come across a program, here or abroad, that is wholly convincing. More work is needed,” he said.
The same issue has arisen a number of times in the United States, where the First Amendment provides a high level of protection for street preachers. In court disputes over their activities, street preachers almost always have won against government attempts to limit or restrict speech.
The institute previously said Karney had objected to “pedlars selling tat, booksellers, preachers everywhere, chuggers and loud, noisy musicians.”
He had warned, “Over the next few weeks we will start to combat the problem, and make sure that the city becomes an even nicer place to visit.”
The Manchester Evening News reported Karney compared his city’s downtown “to a Moroccan” market.
“Manchester city center has become a circus, it’s like a Moroccan souk at the weekend, and I get so many emails and letters every day from people complaining about the current situation,” Karney said.
The city already has established a reputation for mistreating street preachers.
The institute reported that in a previous case, a Christian street preacher was wrongfully arrested and held in custody for 19 hours. He ended up with an out-of-court settlement of about $20,000.
In that case, Manchester police had accused John Craven, 57, of public order offenses. Two teens had approached him and asked what he thought of homosexuals, and he responded with a Bible verse.
Police Constable Alistair McKittrick arrested him when the two teens told the officer they felt insulted.
At the time, he said, “It appears that the actions of the police were calculated to give me and other street preachers the impression that we could not preach the gospel in public without breaking the law and if we did we would be arrested.”
Under the European Convention on Human Rights, people have the freedom to live their faith, freedom of religion and freedom of expression, which includes the freedom to impart information and ideas without interference by a public authority.
And the institute said that in 2008, another street preacher in Manchester was detained by police for over an hour after a member of the public complained when he read from a passage in Romans.
In that case, Miguel Hayworth had been reading from Romans 1:17-32, which discusses homosexuality.
A member of the public complained of “homophobic remarks,” but police released Hayworth.
The institute said in 2007 a homosexual complained to police about a leaflet inviting people to an Easter service.
Then, Julian Hurst was visited in his home by a police officer from the Race and Hate Crime Unit who said the leaflet was inoffensive.

“Crimes against humanity” include any of the following acts committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed against any civilian population, with knowledge of the attack:

murder;

extermination;

enslavement;…

the crime of apartheid;

other inhumane acts of a similar character intentionally causing great suffering or serious bodily or mental injury.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) (1), the hunger-ending organizations RESULTS (2), and Bread for the World (3) estimate that 15 million people die each year from preventable poverty, of whom 11 million are children under the age of five. Jeffrey Sachs says the total deaths are closer to 8 million (4). Either way, poverty causes more human destruction every year than those claimed in the Holocaust.

The total deaths from poverty in the last 15 years is conservatively greater than from all wars, revolutions, murders, accidents, and suicides in the 20th century (5). In the past 20 years, the total deaths from poverty probably eclipse all the above categories of death in all known human history; ~400 million (6).

Make sure you get this: in your lifetime, human beings have allowed other people in poverty, mostly helpless children under the age of five, to die before our eyes in slow, gruesome, painful death in numbers greater than all of the catastrophic events in all recorded human history. To put this number in one perspective that I provide for my students: since I graduated from high school in 1978, preventable poverty has killed ~ 500 million people, one-half a billion; which equals the entire population of the United States plus five additional Californias.

Is September 2015 going to be a month that changes history?

For months, there has been an unprecedented amount of buzz all over the Internet about what is going to happen in September.  And without a doubt, we are going to witness a convergence of events during that month that is quite remarkable.  What I have attempted to do in this article is to put together a list of things that we know will happen next month.  Some of the lists that I have seen contain things that cannot be proven or that are simply inaccurate.  And of course it is very likely that some things will happen in September that we cannot anticipate right now.  I am just providing the information that I have at this time, and it is up to you and your family to prepare for what you believe will happen.  The following is my big list of 33 things that are going to happen in September 2015…
September 1 – This marks the beginning of FEMA’s annual “National Preparedness Month”
September 7 – Labor Day
September 11 – The 14th anniversary (7+7) of 9/11
September 11 – The last day of trading on Wall Street before the end of the Shemitah year
September 12 – Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour opens in the United States.  The first stop is in Washington D.C. and according to Holly Deyo the “opening theme is Desecration of The Bride and Arrival of Fallen Angels”
September 12 and September 13 – Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, a leading authority in Ultra-Orthodox Judaism, has indicated that the Messiah that the Jewish people are expecting could come at this time
September 13 – The last day of the Shemitah year.  During the last two Shemitah cycles, we witnessed record-breaking stock market crashes on the very last day of the Shemitah year (Elul 29 on the Biblical calendar).  For example, if you go back to September 17th, 2001 (which was Elul 29 on the Biblical calendar), we witnessed the greatest one day stock market crash in all of U.S. history up until that time.  The Dow plunged 684 points, and it was a record that held for exactly seven years until the end of the next Shemitah cycle.  On September 29th, 2008 (which was also Elul 29 on the Biblical calendar), the Dow plummeted777 points, which still today remains the greatest one day stock market crash of all time in the United States.  Now we are in another Shemitah year.  It began in the fall of 2014, and it ends on September 13th, 2015.
September 13 – Partial solar eclipse
September 14 – Rosh Hashanah
September 14 – The first day of trading on Wall Street after the end of the Shemitah year
September 15 – The 70th session of the UN General Assembly begins on this date.  It has been widely reported that France plans to introduce a resolution which will give formal UN Security Council recognition to a Palestinian state shortly after the new session begins.  Up until now, the U.S. has always been the one blocking such a resolution, but Barack Obama has already indicated that things may be different this time around.  It would be extremely difficult to overstate the significance of this.
September 15 – The Jade Helm military exercises are scheduled to end
September 17 – If there is going to be a rate hike in September, this is probably when the Federal Reserve will do it
September 17 – This is the deadline for Congress to vote on Obama’s deal with Iran

September 25 – On May 14th, 2014 French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius famously proclaimed that we had only 500 days to avoid “climate chaos”. His time frame of 500 days ends on September 25th.

September 25 to September 27 – The United Nations launches a brand new “universal agenda” for humanity known as “the 2030 Agenda”
September 25 – The Pope appears at the UN to deliver an address to kick off the conference at which the 2030 Agenda will be unveiled
September 26 and 27 – The Pope will be traveling to Philadelphia for the “2015 World Meeting of Families”
September 28 – The first day of the Feast of Tabernacles
September 28 – This is the date for the last of the four blood moons that fall on Biblical festival dates during 2014 and 2015.  This blood moon will be a “supermoon” and it will be clearly visible from the city of Jerusalem.
Due to the ending of the Shemitah year and numerous other factors, there is rampant speculation that a stock market crash is going to happen in the United States during the month of September.  Previously, I have expressed my view that a major global financial crisis is imminent, but my warning covers all of the remaining months of 2015.  Since I cannot prove that a stock market crash will happen next month, I have left it off the list.  But without a doubt, we are entering the danger zone.
There is also lots of speculation about unusual activity at the Large Hadron Collider during the month of September.  In my research, I have not yet come across anything that confirms that.  If you have solid information concerning this, please send it to me.  But certainly, what they are doing with the Large Hadron Collider concerns me greatly.  This is something that I covered in a previous article entitled “Will The Large Hadron Collider Open Up A Portal To Another Dimension?”
In addition, I am also aware that there is a tremendous amount of speculation about an asteroid or a meteor that may or may not be heading toward our planet next month.  At this time, I have no way of proving this is true, and I have no way of disproving it is true either.  I have not come across anything that I can independently verify that indicates that this will or will not happen.  In law school I was trained to stick to the facts, and I don’t have any facts.  If you do have some solid and verifiable information, please share it with me.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge that there is plenty of speculation about certain natural disasters that may happen in September.  They may indeed happen, but I cannot prove anything of that nature right now so I have left those natural disasters off the list.
Needless to say, next month promises to be absolutely crazy, and our time for preparing is running out.
Disaster can strike very suddenly, and when it does, average citizens can be caught totally unprepared.  This is a point that Carl Gallups, the author of a new book entitled “Be Thou Prepared: Equipping the Church for Persecution and Times of Trouble“, recently made during an interview with WND…

Gallups identifies specific incidents when civil society collapsed, most notably in New Orleans immediately following Hurricane Katrina.

“You ended up with the worst of both worlds,” Gallups observed. “You had widespread criminality, anarchy and disorder, and somehow, at the same time, you had government officials going around enforcing wildly tyrannical guidelines and even confiscating firearms.”

As a result, Americans may be forced to rely on themselves for protection, meaning Christians have to begin planning now.

Even if it doesn’t happen next month, life in America is about to changedramatically.
The infrastructure and government services that we have all come to take for granted may not be there in the future.
It is imperative that we all start to learn how to become more independent of the system, because the system is going to start failing in thousands of different ways.

So much would be possible if it weren’t for the government.
Government, remember, is not composed of experts in much of anything – except control and manipulation. Politicians and bureaucrats are not people who do things.
They force others to do things.
In the car world, you have the ridiculous spectacle of non-engineer mechanical imbeciles dictating functional parameters of engine design to people who actually do know how a four-stroke engine works, the meaning of stoichiometry; who understand that there is an inherent conflict between fuel economy and “safety.” That the more a car is designed to meet the first objective, the less it will meet the second.
And the reverse.
Result?
The engineers are told to deliver both in equal measure – and we end up with cars that are heavy and thirsty.
It’s a tragedy – a comic one, when you put it in context.
Here we are – almost 2016 – and the typical new car is about as economical to drive as the typical car of 1985. This is hard to believe, but you should believe it because it’s true. The typical car of the early-mid-1980s was averaging mid-high 20s – just like today. There were numerous models available that approached or even exceeded 40 MPG on the highway. A few (like the diesel-powered VW Rabbit) got into the 50s.
They did this without direct-injection or even port fuel-injection. Many still had carburetors. Eight and nine-speed transmissions (with the top three gears being overdrives) were unheard of. Most automatics of this era had four speeds. Some still had just three.
But the one thing the cars of that era did have was less weight – about 500-800 pounds less of it, on average, than comparable cars have today. And the sole and only reason for all this additional weight is the increased demand for “safety” eructing from the solons in Washington. Well, so we must presume. Because the people who actually buy the cars were never offered the free choice. It would be interesting to find out what they’d choose if they did have that choice.
We can make some rough calculations.
Let’s start with a pretty fuel-efficient (but ridiculously heavy) car like the current/2015 Honda Civic sedan. This compact (by current standards) weighs in at 2,811 pounds. A 1985 Civic sedan (see here) weighed 1,962 pounds – 849 pounds less than the current model.
It is not surprising that – notwithstanding a direct-injected engine with variable valve timing and an ultra-efficient continuously variable (CVT) automatic transmission – the ’15 Civic sedan only averages 33 MPG – vs. 27 MPG for its ancestor from 30 years ago.
A six MPG overall improvement.
Pathetic.
But absolutely understandable, given the almost 900 pounds additional metal the ’15 is carrying around. And it is carrying it in order to pass muster with Uncle’s “safety” mandates – which include a mandate that a car’s roof must be able to bear the entire weight of the car in the event the car rolls on its back. Of course, most cars live their entire lives – from dealer’s showroom to crusher, many years hence – without ever rolling on their back. Probably there are many people out there who would prefer to have been carting around 900 pounds less metal all those years – saving thousands of very real dollars in fuel costs rather than having to pay for some bureaucrat’s idea of what might be helpful if the car ever did roll on its back.
And it is thousands of dollars we’re talking about. If the ’15 Civic – with all its technological advantages – weighed what the ’85 Civic weighed, it is certain the car would be averaging 40-45 MPG. It would, after all be 30 percent lighter. And a 10 MPG or so uptick is probably a very conservative estimate.
Over a typical vehicle of life of 15 years or so, the savings would be no small change. Figure one less fill-up per month for the typical driver and assume a fill-up equals about 13 gallons at today’s $2.25 or so per gallon. That’s about $30 a month saved – or $360 a year in your pocket instead of ExxonMobil’s. Over fifteen years, the savings amounts to $5,400 – and that’s assuming the cost of gas stays the same.
Which, probably, it won’t. It’s likely to go up.
But even if it doesn’t, that’s still five grand you didn’t have to spend on gas.
Well, wouldn’t have to spend on gas – were it not for the fact that you’re denied this option. A bureaucrat in Washington (well, ok, several of them) have decided your “safety” – as defined by them – is more important than your right (past tense) to drive an economical car. The cost-benefit calculation has been taken out of your hands, as if you were still an eight-year-old and needed momma to make sure you don’t chew on lead paint chips.
Here, by the way, is a real-world example of the kind of car we could have – and which the Mexicans do have. It’s the Chevy Matiz – and it costs less than $7,000 U.S. and gets 45-50 MPG… . But it’s not “safe” – so you’re not allowed to buy it.
It’s even worse when it comes to diesels.
The federal flapdoodle imposed on them has made them barely more economical to operate than many of today’s gas engines – and a lot more expensive to buy, feed and maintain. Diesels used to simple and cheap. Now they are complicated and pricey – and their small advantage at the pump is very questionable, economically-speaking, vs. what you have to pay for them up front.
Again, Uncle.
With all the technology on tap, modern diesels would be able to deliver 60-plus MPG on average, in a car that weighed less than 2,000 pounds like our ’85 Civic example. You’d think – if your thoughts were logical – that government bureaucrats would be “all over” that. They are, after all, here to help… .
Except they’re not.
Consciously or not, the desideratum of politicians and bureaucrats is control and direction. If this were not true, then force would not be necessary. They’d rely on reason and persuasion. Surely that would be sufficient. If the object of the exercise weren’t control and direction.
But of course, it is.
And that, friends, is why we have “high tech” cars that get maybe 6 MPG better than their ancestors did 30 years ago.

The Real Putin is back and he is very upset.

The BRICS are tired of being pushed around by those in London and DC, and are now preparing to strike back.

After the recent US-Made Hurricanes that hit Northern with winds so horrific a bridge actually blew down, then the destruction of an Ammo Ship in the main Northern Chinese Harbor, the BRICS have had enough.

China was ready to sign off on $3 Trillion in US Debt but has decided to take it out of the hides of the US/UK Bankstas. They are dead meat - their underground homes will either be blown, poisoned, or have either power terminated. It's Over.

Eight years ago, a letter was sent to the White House explaining this and this Ambassador was called a nutcase. These folks (I know several) are not laughing any more - they are genuinely scared.

Their 8 years are up and they are about to be dealt with by GOD. Not one nation has done as GOD has asked.

What we stated 1 October 2007 applies today - so - Bankstas and Lucifarians - be afraid, be very much afraid.

What we said needs to be done to stabilize the situation has not changed ONE IOTA. You in DC/UK either do as GOD has directed you or your system will come crashing down on your heads and you will be terminated: so HE has said it, so it shall be - and death means an eternal damnation in a lower harmonics.

Now you even have President Putin upset that a US-paid Oligarch shot him and is ready for War - I mean Real War. You know - Nukes detonated in your underground hide outs, gas canisters going of down there, power being terminated, etc.

Last night, I got a call about Russian Troops lining up to take Southeastern Ukraine to seize mines that have a certain mineral that is apparently sold to a large saucer that sits about 30,000 feet over that part of the Ukraine - they harvest a mineral that cannot be grown like Gold, Silver and Iron and the US Forces are demanding an unfair price as they murder millions in Yemen. Along with Iraqis, and Ukrainians by order of the Rothschilds and the Roman Pope.

So after a heavy artillery barrage last night by US Forces to kill Ukrainian Civilians, the Russians have decided to move 5 divisions into the region to stabilize the economy and feed the local people.

It is time to pray and take care of your own families. It does not appear that either China, Russia, the Corporate US, and those Supreme Commanders in Brussels will do as they have been asked by GOD - they have chosen death so let them kill each other.

Take care of your family and prepare for 3 weeks to 3 months of no power. If it is turned off it is Homeland Security that will do it  - can we Zeig Heil yet?
