Case that accused 'Liberty Dollar' maker of counterfeiting nears end

The 'federal government' has agreed to give back a massive stash of gold, platinum, silver and copper that had been confiscated in the “Liberty Dollar” case in which a defendant was accused of counterfeiting but eventually given probation on a count of conspiracy.

A federal court filing in North Carolina reveals that thousands of pounds of copper, at least 16,000 ounces of silver, and unannounced amounts of gold were involved. Most is being returned to those who could provide documentation that they had paid for the coins or bullion.

WND had reported back in 2007 when the case erupted.
That was when the FBI and U.S. Secret Service raided Liberty Dollar, which made and distributed coins that it described as “private voluntary barter currency.”

At the time, Bernard von NotHaus, the “monetary architect” for the company in Evansville, Indiana, said 'agents' “took all the gold, all the silver, all the platinum, and almost two tons of Ron Paul Dollars that were just delivered.”

The company information said Von NotHaus developed the Liberty Dollar in 1998 as an “inflation-proof” alternative currency to Federal Reserve notes. The U.S. government, however, historically has taken a dim view of anything monetary that could be perceived as substituting for its greenbacks.

Authorities have attacked such alternatives as counterfeiting, while supporters of such bartering tool attack the Federal Reserve notes as fakes.

In this case, Von NotHaus was charged with conspiracy and was sentenced by Judge Richard L. Voorhees to three years of probation and six months of house arrest.
The judge also had ruled that anything confiscated in the case not specifically deemed as “contraband” should be returned.

A report from CoinWorld explained that it involved “millions” of dollars worth of silver, platinum, gold and copper.

The filing from Acting U.S. Attorney Jill Westmoreland Rose of the Western District of North Carolina revealed that 265 of the 327 petitions that were filed for the return of property should be approved.

Another 27 petitions were subject to settlements and seven were denied for faulty or absent paperwork or other factors. The remaining had other issues.

The report said, “Von NotHaus introduced the Liberty Dollar in 1998, marketing the pieces using … the National Organization for the Repeal of the Federal Reserve and the Internal Revenue Code. The organization touted Liberty Dollars as an alternative to Federal Reserve notes, and sought to develop a network of merchants that would accept them in lieu of Federal Reserve notes.”
He sued in 2006, asking for a declaration that they were “private voluntary barter currency,” and shortly later the raid happened.

Since the raid, the report said, “prices for many Liberty Dollar issues, especially those with limited mintages, continue to rise in the secondary market.”

The exact items being returned were not identified, but individual listings did cite 16,000.5 troy ounces of raw silver and 3,039.375 pounds of copper coins.

Most of the bullion and coins were awarded to people who had documentation of their ownership, “evidenced by warehouse receipts and electronic Liberty Dollars, and unfulfilled but paid-for orders for forfeited property such as Ron Paul dollars, Chiropractic and Hawaii Dala coins.”

“These petitions are largely supported by documentation and/or plausible factual explanations that comport with the information known to the United States,” the government said.

One case involved a credit card processor which, pursuant to a contractual arrangement, “held a security interest in the Liberty Services merchant account from which United States currency was preliminary forfeited.”

The original organization explained its position regarding Liberty Dollars like this:

“It’s incredible how few people know the facts about the Federal Reserve. The organization chaired by Ben Bernanke is not ‘Federal’ – it is instead a cabal of private and international banks that does not answer to the United States government. And while there is some precious metal stored in Fort Knox, it doesn’t back the debt based ‘fiat’ U.S. dollar that they issue, because nothing backs it except your trust in the system!

Even a casual look at the Fed’s history leads one to wonder how an institution that profits mightily from its own policies of victimizing Americans has maintained control over the money of the wealthiest nation on Earth. For those who have made a serious inquiry, the Federal Reserve is shadowed in deceptive origins and fraudulent policies.”

Its alternative was a series of coins made of precious metals that could be exchanged for an assigned dollar amount. Over its history, the company had produced the California Bear, Chambersburg Dollar, Evansville Dollar, Hawaii Dala, Peace Dollar and the Ron Paul Dollar, among others.

How Long Does Powdered Milk Last?

How long does powdered milk last? Powdered milk is real milk that has been heated so that about half of the milk solids evaporate. A package of powdered milk will list the ingredients of nonfat dry milk and vitamins A and D3, other products with lists of ingredients are not the real deal. As usual, if you take out the moisture you drastically increase the shelf life of the product allowing you to always have some milk on hand. The shelf life of powdered milk is mainly influenced by its exposure to heat and moisture.

So how long does powdered milk last?

When properly stored at or below 40°F, containers of powder milk last for the time periods indicated in the

Non-fat dried milk =(NFDM) is suitable for short and long term emergency food storage. It is made from non-fat, grade A, milk that has been dried by spraying into hot air or heated on a drum. The process removes nearly all of the water prohibiting the growth of microorganisms. Dried whole milk and dried buttermilk have milk fat and are not suitable for long term storage. Start with top quality product. Some NFDM is "instantized", a process that makes it easier to reconstitute.  "Extra-grade" is higher quality and some manufacturers supplement dried milk with vitamins A and D. A product meeting all three of these options would be the best for storage. Evaluate several brands of dried milk before purchasing any large quantity for emergency storage. A ³BYU study in 2002 concluded there is wide variation in the quality of dried milk products available for long-term storage. 

Packaging. Dried milk must be stored free of moisture and oxygen. Mylar-type bags and #10 cans make good containers for large quantities. Canning jars are suitable for smaller quantities provided light is prevented from reaching the dried milk.

Other plastic containers are less suitable, e.g. food-grade buckets. Oxygen absorbers should be used to remove oxygen from containers to extend shelf life and minimize off-flavors. A ²USU study concluded that after 4-year NFDM samples stored in plastic bags (not Mylar-type) were statistically less acceptable than samples stored in cans.The form of milk (instant or regular) did not affect the length of time NFDM could be stored. Unacceptability of samples in the study was due to an oxidized/stale flavor.

Storage conditions. The shelf life of packaged, NFDM ranges from 3 months to 3-5 years. The main factor is storage temperature. At cool to cold temperatures the shelf life is 3-5 years. At hot temperatures the shelf life can be as little as 3 months. A ²USU research study demonstrated NFDM held at 32°C (90°F) for 6 mo began to develop off-flavors and by 24 mo was considered unacceptable by a trained sensory panel. After 4-yr storage, NFDM samples stored at 21°C (70°F) were rated unacceptable by the panelists. Storage at 10°C (50°F) resulted in minimal flavor changes in 52 month.

Nutrition. NFDM is an excellent source of protein, calcium and nutrition, providing 80 calories per serving. Most vitamins in dried milks are present in comparable levels to those of whole milk. Vitamins A and D are not present in non-fat milk and must be supplemented.  

¹Nutrition degradation during storage. Vitamin levels are stable for 6 month and only minimally decline after 18 months. Data is not available for longer term storage effects on vitamins. Storage of these products for periods longer than several years will result in vitamin and flavor degradation. Most other nutrients (calories, carbohydrates, proteins, and minerals will remain unchanged. 

Use of NFDM from storage. Typically 1/3 cup dry powder is mixed with one cup water to make on serving. The instantized type of NFDM will dissolve in water more readily. Non-instantized versions may need blending or can be held overnight in the refrigerator after reconstituting to increase solubility.

Reconstituted NFDM will not taste any better than fresh non-fat milk. If the absence of milk fat is objectionable, mix reconstituted NFDM into whole fresh milk. Once opened, NFDM will have a 3 month shelf life. Keep opened containers away from light, moisture and warmer temperatures.

2) Water:

a) I have about 40 - 15 gallon containers. They cost around $40
a piece but if you buy 2 you will have 30 gallons of spare water.

b) Hot Water Tank: I turn off the power and drain my hot water tank
yearly and therefor have 38 gallons of spare water just in my tank.

c) Bottled Water - we usually keep a case in each car and a couple
at home. It saves on buying water when we run around so we actually
save money by doing this.

b) Keep in mind you need a place to poop. That's OK if you have the

4)Ammunition

a) You Need One rifle or Pistol, or Bow and arrows - or a way to secure
your house from looters.As we speak the fores in Eastern Washington
are causing tremendous looting so people cannot leave for fear of being
looted. You need to protect yourself.

5) Heat

a) You need some form of heat - a fireplace, wood stove, Mr Heater, etc.


6) Communications

a) You need to be able to call on help form your neighbors if you need it.

looter come.

Every reason to NOT support the chameleon Trump

It’s been pretty shocking that people are actually walking around talking about how Donald Trump is going to “Save America”. If you ever needed a sign that the country is lost, that’s gotta be it.

But worse is the fact that Trump is so obviously a Clinton plant and people just ignore the facts because right now he’s “telling it like it is”. More like he’s telling you what you want to hear at a time when people are desperate to hear any truth coming out of the American political-industrial complex.

First of all, if anyone ever had half a chance in Hell of changing anything in this country, rest assured The Powers That Shouldn’t Be would not let that person anywhere near the Oval Office. 

The last time this country had a president that tried to change things, that person got his brains blown out in front of the entire country -  President John Kennedy

But here’s what actually going on. Hillary Clinton’s private email server woes are not going away, just like the Clinton camp surely had an inkling they wouldn’t. 

Back in mid-March, The New York Post reported that Valerie Jarrett, Obama’s senior adviser, purposefully leaked details regarding Hillary Clinton’s private email to the press through people outside the White House in order so that the leak couldn’t be directly traced back to the administration.

The scandal bomb, as I reported then, was perfectly timed just before Hillary’s announcement to run as 'president'. Everyone knew by that point that Hillary could  announce her run at any time. And she did, just weeks later, officially announce her bid for 'president' on April 12, 2015.

So how does this all connect to Trump?

Knowing the email scandal wouldn’t go away, the Clinton camp needed a big distraction. So what did they do?
They phoned a friend. In late May, Bill Clinton had a private conversation with his good friend, Donald Trump just before Trump decided to run himself.

Now why would a good friend of the Clintons pose himself as opposition like that?  And I do mean good friend.

Trump has also donated to the Clinton Foundation, a point that hasn’t gone unnoticed by people like Senator Rand Paul. Yeah, about that:

“I gave to many people before this,” Trump said at the debate today. “When they call, I give. And you know what, when I need something from them two years later, three years later, I call them. They are there for me.”

(And surely, vice versa… I’ll pat your back, you pat mine. Let’s continue:)

His comments came in response to an attack from rival Sen. Rand Paul.......

“You’ve donated to several Democratic candidates. You explained away those donations saying you did that to get business-related affairs,” Paul said. “And you said recently, quote, ‘When you give, they do whatever the hell you want them to do.’”

“You better believe it,” Trump responded. (source)

But Trump now claims that he just invited the Clintons to his wedding — where they sat in the front row — and they only came and took those schmoozy pictures together simply because he donated. Uh huh. Sure.

Is that why, in 2008, Trump was quoted as saying,  “I’m a big fan of Hillary. She’s a terrific woman. She’s a friend of mine. I think she was treated very poorly and I think it’s hurt Barack Obama quite badly. She’s a terrific woman.”
So she’s not just a terrific woman, but he’s a big fan and she’s a friend of his… and again, because he repeated it, she’s a terrific woman.

In fact, Trump went on to say the only reason he endorsed McCain in 2008 is because Obama did not choose Hillary as his Vice President.

Later, on a CNN appearance, he - Trump - expanded on his opinion of Hillary and Bill: “Hillary’s a great friend of mine. Her husband is a great friend of mine. They’re fantastic people. I mean, they’re — you know, the thing, they get a bad knock. She’s a very nice woman. People think, tough, tough. And I guess she’s tough, but she’s a very nice woman. And he’s a very nice guy. We know all about the smarts and how smart they are, and all, but they are good people.”

Let’s see… Bill’s a “great” friend, Hillary is a “great” friend, terrific (x2), they’re fantastic people, she’s very nice, they are smart and “good” people. Wow. Gee, what a glowing review.

But again, we’re supposed to believe they are just loose, casual acquaintances and the only reason he invited Hillary and Bill to his wedding was because he donated to their foundation? (An accusation that he later went on TV and backpeddled on after it came out Hillary’s feelings were hurt? He later said he was just joking about paying her foundation so she’d come to his wedding, saying it was “very nice” that the Clintons went.)

So I guess it’s also just a lark that Trump has changed parties five times since the 80s and donated over half a million to Democrats, including to the likes of Rahm Emmanuel and Senator Harry Reid.

This is all about having big friends in high places. Trump didn’t become a billionaire without making friends like that. That’s how the American oligarchy works.

On top of that, if you look at Trump’s politics — what he has supported on the record until now when he’s in the GOP spotlight, he doesn’t even seem like much of a Republican.

Now he’s talking about things like the 14th Amendment is unconstitutional and if he becomes president he will build a wall that spans the entire Southern border and force the Mexican government to pay for it. But that’s not what he was saying just a few years ago on Bill O’Reilly’s show:

Donald Trump: The biggest problem is that you have some great, wonderful people coming in from Mexico that are working the crops.  They’re working cutting lawns.  Tthey’re doing a lot of jobs that I’m not sure that a lot of Americans are going to take those jobs. And that’s the dichotomy. That’s the big problem because you have a lot of great people coming in doing a lot of work, and I’m not so sure that a lot of other people are going to be doing that work. So, it is a very tough problem but I do say this -- you have a law, or at least you have to establish a law, and I guess we’re sort of a country and other people aren’t supposed to be coming into our country illegally.

Bill O’Reilly: Now, the 15 million illegal aliens already in the United States, what do you do with them?

Donald Trump: I think right now you’re going to have to do something. It’s hard to generalize, but you’re going to have to look at the individual people, see how they’ve done, see how productive they’ve been, see what their references are, and then make a decision.

Bill O’Reilly: All right, on a case-by-case—going to take a long time and a lot of people.

Donald Trump: A long time but you know you have some great productive people that came. You have to give them a path. You have 20 million, 30 million, nobody knows what it is. It used to be 11 million. Now, today I hear it’s 11, but I don’t think it’s 11. I actually heard you probably have 30 million. You have to give them a path and you have to make it possible for them to succeed. You have to do that. (source)

Trump is also a big fan of eminent domain:

Donald Trump: Everybody coming into Atlantic City sees that property, and it’s not fair to Atlantic City and the people. They’re staring at this terrible house instead of staring at beautiful fountains and beautiful other things that would be good.

John Stossel:Basic to freedom is that if you own something, it’s yours, that the government doesn’t just come and take it away from you.

Donald Trump: Do you want to live in the city where you can’t build schools? Do you want to live in the city where you can’t build roads or highways or have access to hospitals?

Condemnation is a necessary evil.

John Stossel: But you’re not talking about a hospital. You’re talking about a building a rich guy finds ugly.

Back on the Clintons, did I forget to mention that Trump is also pro socialized medicine? At least, that’s what he told Larry King years ago:

“So I’m very liberal when it comes to health care. I believe in universal health care. I believe in whatever it takes to make people well and better.”

Here’s Trump specifically praising Hillary’s plans for health care in 2007:

“I think it was very good. I think she came out with an idea. It’s a very, very complex set of things going on right now in terms of healthcare but she came out with an idea.  It sounds like a pretty good idea, and a lot of people like it and embraced it and she learned a lot from her previous encounter,” Trump said.

So that whole Obamacare thing… yeah, about that. He can promise all day now that he’d do away with it, but if Trump actually got anywhere near the White House, would that law really be going anywhere any time soon?

This list could go on and on and on. People are only hearing what they want to hear.

Again… Trump fans, are you listening??? He is literally telling people only what they want to hear.

Be willfully blind if you want to, but that “hope and change” thing hasn’t worked out so good in the past. At the very least the guy is a total flip flopper but worse, if you look into Trump’s actual political history, he’s looking more and more like a Clinton operative all the time.

And considering the Clintons are really just an extension of the Bush camp anyway and vice versa, two arms of the same beast, you know, what with Bill Clinton saying that George H. W. was like a surrogate father and George W. like a “brother from another mother,” that would make all kinds of sense why in July, Bill reassured Jeb, “a lot of this Trump thing will be taken care of during your debates, if not sooner.”

The only reason he isn’t gone yet since the first debate is that Hillary’s server situation has gotten worse. The distraction continues…

Bill knows that when Hillary gets out of the hot water over this server mess and Trump’s duty is done, Trump will fade back out of the spotlight, having stolen (and wasted) a bunch of the country’s time. And Bill can say that with near certainty. Why?

Bill’s phone call to Trump back in May arranged this whole dog and pony show in the first place.

There were only ever going to be two actual choices in this election, as we’ve been reporting for a long time now. You get a Bush or a Clinton. Period. According to a July Gallup poll, public approval of Congress has fallen to near-record lows. On average, 34% of the population approves of a given Congress. 

The current 114th Congress has a 17% approval rating.

Americans have reason to be concerned. 

According to GovTrack.us, the last two Congresses have enacted fewer laws than any other Congress since 1947.

And the 114th Congress may just surpass them all in terms of doing nothing. 

House Speaker John Boehner has argued that “We ought to be judged on how many laws we repeal"—not by the laws they pass. Even by that metric, Boehner’s Congress is still underperforming as a law must be passed to repeal another one

While Congress has been inefficient across the board, some members have been exceptionally unexceptional. Using data from GovTrack, InsideGov created an Effectiveness Score to determine the least-effective members of Congress. 

The effectiveness score is the percentage of bills sponsored by each congressperson over their time in office that went on to pass committee. The score does not factor in the percentage of bills that turned into law because such a small number of proposed bills and resolutions actually become laws.

While it’s true that some congresspeople intentionally make an effort to stymie fast-tracked legislation, the members on this list are sponsoring their own legislation and not getting it passed through committee.

This list only includes members of Congress who have served at least one full term and does not include bills introduced in the 114th Congress, since they still have time to get passed.
