Without putting too sharp of a point on it, gentlemen, every day that you chase your tails little old ladies are being evicted from their homes under false pretenses, children in America (and elsewhere) are going without food for no good reason, and criminals continue to reign supreme in our courthouses, imposing foreign law and working every possible infamous fraud scheme to rob, impersonate, and press gang Americans that you are morally, lawfully, and in front of the entire world contractually obligated to protect and defend.  

No functionary agent acting as the President of the United States has any power or ability to interfere with our execution of private domestic policy in behalf of the actual people of this country.  Read the actual Constitution.  All powers, including the delegated powers, ultimately remain on our hands.  

The UNITED STATES is in Chapter 7 involuntary bankruptcy and is being liquidated.  The USA is in Chapter 11.  We have international bankruptcy "Trustees" named by Secondary Creditors swarming in on us--- the Paramount Security Interest Holders---- and there you all sit, like great lumps of fat, "discussing the situation".  

There is nothing to discuss.  You know your duty, or you certainly ought to.  

The American people have been mis-characterized as "citizens", conscripted, deported, kidnapped, and press-ganged into the service of two foreign commercial corporations, one British, one French, which are merely in the business of providing "essential governmental services" on a for-hire basis ----and generally doing a piss poor job of it, too.  

Our states and people have been bankrupted via a process of false presumption and debt assumption once, back in the 1930's, and now the perpetrators are trying to do it again, only this time they propose to steal the whole show--- trying to seize of the land and the land assets that actually belong to the Priority Creditors of the UNITED STATES and the USA, both. 

And who are the Priority Creditors of both the UNITED STATES and the USA?  We are. The American states and people. 

This is not a private nor a contractual matter. This is organized crime and racketeering on a multi-national scale.  It is your responsibility, together with the responsibility of INTERPOL and all the other law enforcement agencies to crack down and get control of these renegade corporations and hold their executives feet first to the fire, beginning with the American Bar Association.

We recently forwarded the black and white evidence of a vast criminal conspiracy fronted by the then-USAG (INTERPOL) in 2007 operating the Office of the United States Attorney General and Wells Fargo Bank, both, to defraud the actual land jurisdiction counties --- all 3100 of them --- and the American people out of their land and homes and businesses.  The entire debacle of 2008 and the current massive Foreclosure Mill Fraud, has been directly caused by members of the USDOJ and the American Bar Association acting in criminal collusion and conspiracy with international banks. 

In essence, they foreclose on "JOHN MICHAEL DOE" (a fraudulently created UNITED STATES corporate franchise) with one hand and use the equity credit  merely "presumed" to belong to  "John Michael Doe" (a fraudulently created Territorial USA franchise)  to buy the property back for themselves---- leaving the living man who just happens to be the actual John Michael Doe, out on the street.

We want these criminals removed from all public buildings and permanently barred from holding or appearing to hold any public offices naturally belonging to the states and people of this country.  We want the international commercial lien which we have established against the ABA/IBA as a result of their criminal activities fully enforced. 

We want INTERPOL, the CIA, the DOJ, the FBI, the NSA, the IRS and every other alphabet soup agency directly or indirectly on our payroll to clean house from one end to the other, and if they do not get to the bottom of this when great-grandmothers and garage owners have been able to do so--- consider them all fired.  Permanently.  Not eligible for rehire. 

As for you, you have worked for us indirectly, now you can work for us directly. We have the resources available to pay for your services with no need to kiss any off-shore rump.  Our arrangements with the Native Americans to provide the essential governmental services as federal contractors are more than sufficient to preserve the actual Constitution despite the self-evident Breach of Trust and Neglect of Duty and Default of both the French and British Governments in these matters.  

You will give your immediate and urgent attention to the job of securing all American assets on a worldwide basis, including securing the names, copyrights, trademarks, bank accounts, DNA, and all other purloined assets of the American states and people which have been stolen----and returning all such property to the rightful owners.   

You will also give your immediate and urgent attention to preventing further international identity theft and false commercial enfranchisement practices.

Sarah Palin Hires Hulk Hogan's Legal Team to Sue the New York Times for Defamation

On Tuesday evening, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin hired Hulk Hogan’s lawyers and sued the New York Times for defamation for falsely accusing her in a June 14 editorial of inciting Jared Lee Loughner to shoot Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ). The Times’ editorial was published on the day that James Hodgkinson shot House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) while he was practicing for the Congressional Baseball Game with his GOP teammates.

“Today, Sarah Palin took a stand against The New York Times Company by filing a lawsuit which seeks to hold The Times accountable for stating that Governor Palin is part of a ‘sickeningly familiar pattern’ of politically motivated violence and that she incited the horrific 2011 shooting of Representative Gabby Giffords, a tragedy where the gunman seriously wounded numerous people and killed 6, including a federal judge and a 9-year-old girl,” Palin’s lawyers—Ken Turkel, Shane Vogt, and S. Preston Ricardo—said in a statement.
The complaint, filed in Manhattan federal court, states that “at the time of publication, The Times knew and had published pieces acknowledging that there was no connection between Mrs. Palin and Loughner’s 2011 shooting.”
“In doing so, The Times violated the law and its own policies,” it reads.
Messrs. Turkel, Vogt, and Ricardo said Palin “seeks to hold The Times to its November 13, 2016, pledge [‘to rededicate itself to reporting facts honestly and holding power to account’], and to face both journalistic and financial accountability for the false statements that it published about Mrs. Palin.”
As Breitbart News previously noted, Palin indicated on Twitter that she was “considering suing the New York Times for libel” the day after the Times published its editorial even though “it has long been established that there has never been any evidence whatsoever linking Palin to the attempted assassination.”

Here is what the Times originally wrote in its editorial:

Was this attack evidence of how vicious American politics has become? Probably. In 2011, when Jared Lee Loughner opened fire in a supermarket parking lot, grievously wounding Representative Gabby Giffords and killing six people, including a 9-year-old girl, the link to political incitement was clear. Before the shooting, Sarah Palin’s political action committee circulated a map of targeted electoral districts that put Ms. Giffords and 19 other Democrats under stylized cross hairs.

The Times, after much public backlash from even Palin’s harshest critics on the left and right, then issued two subsequent corrections.
After adding that “no connection to the shooting was ever established” to its original editorial, the Times issued this correction on June 15:

An earlier version of this editorial incorrectly stated that a link existed between political incitement and the 2011 shooting of Representative Gabby Giffords. In fact, no such link was established.

But the Times never corrected that it had falsely stated that Palin had put “Giffords and 19 other Democrats under stylized cross hairs” when Palin did no such thing.
Later in the day on June 15, the Times edited its editorial again to note that Palin’s map “showed the targeted electoral districts of Ms. Giffords and 19 other Democrats under stylized cross hairs.”
It then issued its second correction:

The editorial also incorrectly described a map distributed by a political action committee before that shooting. It depicted electoral districts, not individual Democratic lawmakers, beneath stylized cross hairs.

Yet, in a statement to CNN, the Times insisted that their errors did not “undercut or weaken the argument of the piece.”
Palin’s lawyers pointed out that “despite recognizing that its statements about Mrs. Palin in the June 14, 2017 column ‘America’s Lethal Politics’ are not true, The Times repeatedly failed to meaningfully retract or correct its column and apologize to Mrs. Palin for publishing it. Rather, The Times issued a statement affirming that its ‘error doesn’t undercut or weaken the argument of the piece.’”
To prove that the Times had “ample facts available that established that there was no connection between Mrs. Palin and Loughner’s crime,” the lawyers point to an article the Times published on January 15, 2011, that “recognized that no direct or clear link between political rhetoric and Loughner’s actions could be claimed.” In addition, the lawyers point out that New York Times columnist Charles Blow once wrote that “the only problem is that there was no evidence then, and even now, that overheated rhetoric from the right had anything to do with the shooting” of Giffords.
The lawyers also refer to Blow’s column, “She Who Must Not Be Named,” that was critical of the left’s and the establishment press’s continued coverage of Palin. In Blow’s column, he asks, “What purpose does it serve other than inflaming passions to drive viewership and Web clicks?”
The complaint points out that Blow’s “column acknowledges that there is existing hostility held toward Mrs. Palin, and also recognizes that her name and attacks upon her inflame passions and thereby drive viewership and Web clicks to media companies.”
“The Times published the Palin Article with actual knowledge that stories attacking Mrs. Palin inflame passions, which drives viewership and Web clicks,” the complaint further reads. “Thus, The Times knowingly and voluntarily exploited and retained a benefit conferred by Mrs. Palin, in special circumstances particular to this case in which it would be inequitable for The Times to retain that benefit without paying the value thereof to Mrs. Palin.”
Palin’s attorneys argue that the Times’ “conduct was committed knowingly, intentionally, willfully, wantonly and maliciously, with the intent to harm Mrs. Palin, or in blatant disregard of the substantial likelihood of causing her harm, thereby entitling Mrs. Palin to an award of punitive damages.”
Two of Palin’s lawyers–Messrs. Turkel and Vogt–successfully represented Hulk Hogan in his $140 million invasion of privacy suit against Gawker after Gawker published Hogan’s sex tape. As noted on the firm’s website, they “convinced a Pinellas County jury to award Terry Bollea, professionally known as Hulk Hogan, $55 million in economic damages and another $60 million in damages for emotional distress. The jury awarded an additional $25.1 million in punitive damages, making the verdict one of the largest contested verdicts in Pinellas County history.”

More charges for former judge accused of human trafficking

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Ky. — A former Campbell County judge was indicted on additional charges Thursday.

Timothy Nolan, 70, was indicted Thursday on two counts of human trafficking of a person under the age of 18, two counts of human trafficking with an adult and one count of unlawful transaction with a minor.
Following the indictment, Nolan faces 20 felony counts and two misdemeanor accounts.
Nolan was a Campbell County judge more than 30 years ago and recently served as a Campbell County Board of Education member. He resigned from the board in May.
Court records said Nolan "used money, drugs, housing, threats to call the probation office, and violent acts, as means to coerce, deceive and force these women to engage in commercial sexual activity."
The 70-year-old pleaded not guilty to charges of human trafficking, rape and prostitution in May. He is currently in Campbell County Jail on $750,000 bail.

A search warrant listed several electronic devices to be removed from Nolan's home, including multiple computers, an Apple iPad registered with Campbell County schools, cellphones, a digital recorder, thumb drives, and several DVDs, CDs and VHS tapes.
Campbell County police claim those items contain, "images, videos, or other files, in digital form, depicting sexual conduct by a minor."
A detective told WLWT since Nolan was charged, more victims have come forward, both minors and adults, for a total of 17 victims.
One victim, referred to as "Jane Doe 1," told police she was "addicted to heroin, essentially homeless, had no transportation and had no income, and that Nolan took advantage of her. She stated that he would buy heroin for her and record her 'shooting up' on his cellular phone. She stated that she has had sex with Nolan in exchange for money over 50 times."
Another victim, called, "Jane Doe 2," said, "Nolan would pay her to have sex with him during a period of time in which she was addicted to heroin. She stated that during these instances, she had no income, food, or transportation and relied on Nolan for these things. She stated that she felt '100 percent coerced and did not want to do what she did.'"
Nolan's attorney Margo Grubbs would not comment on any specifics about the case.
"(Nolan) maintains his innocence in these charges and that what is being alleged is only a small piece of factual allegations, and he denies that it has anything to do with human trafficking, rape or prostitution," Grubbs said.

New Ransomware Outbreak Hits Targets Worldwide Including Chernobyl Nuke Plant

A new ransomware outbreak utilizing a leaked NSA exploit is currently infecting computers across the globe, including those used to monitor radiation levels at Ukraine’s Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
Widely referred to as Peyta – though the attack is new and not a Peyta variant – the virus uses the same Windows SMB flaw that allowed last month’s WannaCry outbreak to spread so quickly.
The malicious software, which has thus far been detected in countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, the UK and US, encrypts and alters critical system files before demanding $300 worth of Bitcoin.

Initially, nearly all antivirus programs were unable to detect the ransomware – which disguised itself as an approved Microsoft file.
Prominent victims include Denmark-based shipping firm Maersk, multinational law firm DLA Piper, medical facilities in Pittsburg as well as Ukraine’s central bank and the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
The plant, which suffered a catastrophic nuclear accident in 1986, is still being decommissioned to this day.
According to a Ukranian newspaper, Chernobyl staff have been forced to begin monitoring radiation levels manually as their computers remain crippled. Vladimir Ilchuk, the plant’s shift director, said “excess levels of control” helped avert any potential radiation leaks.

Victims are being told not to pay the ransom as the email accepting Bitcoin payments – wowsmith123456@posteo.net – has been shutdown by the provider. Although Microsoft released a patch for the SMB vulnerability prior to the WannaCry outbreak, the exploit continues to be useful as countless computers have failed to apply the security update.

While Microsoft’s update will stop the ransomware from remotely infecting vulnerable computers with SMBv1 enabled, patched machines can still be hit if the virus makes its way into their network.

If #Petya gets in, you are in for a ride. It is using WMIC and PSEXEC to laterally pivot and infect patched systems. Just like a pentester.

According to cybersecurity expert Matthew Hickey, co-founder of UK-based Hacker House, affected users can avoid having their files encrypted by turning off their computer when presented with the message below:

“While analyzing the ransomware’s inner workings, Serper was the first to discover that NotPetya would search for a local file and would exit its encryption routine if that file already existed on disk…” writes Bleeping Computer’s Catalin Cimpanu. “This means victims can create that file on their PCs, set it to read-only, and block the NotPetya ransomware from executing.”
As of publication, those responsible for the outbreak have received 3.15303437 BTC or roughly $7422.05.

Some analysts believe, given the timing of the attack, that the ransomware was used not for monetary gain but for instilling chaos in Ukraine specifically.
“In Ukraine tomorrow is a holiday – June 28 – Constitution Day,” Nick Bilogorskiy, senior director of threat operations at Cyphort, told CyberScoop. “Hackers are known to seed malware outbreaks right before the holidays, to make the recovery take longer.”
Security researcher “The Grugq” also notes that the ransomware authors, while sophisticated, made decisions that clearly inhibited their ability to quickly collect payment.
“Although the worm is camouflaged to look like the infamous Petya ransomware, it has an extremely poor payment pipeline,” he writes. “There is a single hardcoded BTC wallet and the instructions require sending an email with a large amount of complex strings (something that a novice computer victim is unlikely to get right.)”
“Predictably, within hours the email address had been disabled by the service provider. If this well engineered and highly crafted worm was meant to generate revenue, this payment pipeline was possibly the worst of all options (short of ‘send a personal cheque to: Petya Payments, PO Box …’).”
“This is definitely not designed to make money. This is designed to spread fast and cause damage, with a plausibly deniable cover of ‘ransomware.'”

Wikileaks: Podesta’s Daughter Received His Shares in Putin-Linked Company

An email uncovered in the Wikileaks hacks reveals that Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s “75,000 common shares” — obtained from his membership on the executive board of an energy company, Joule Unlimited, which received millions from a Putin-connected Russian government fund — were transferred to his daughter, Megan Rouse.

“Full transfer request, with Megan’s signature attached,” Podesta’s assistant Eryn Sepp wrote to him.
A January 3, 2014 letter revealed that Podesta designated his daughter’s Dublin, California residence as the address for Leonidio Holdings LLC, the Delaware-based holding company that Podesta used to transfer his shares in Russian-related Joule Global Holdings.
Rouse is listed as “managing member” of Leonidio Holdings LLC, according to financial documents.
Podesta’s membership on the board of directors of Joule Unlimited was first revealed in research from Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large and Government Accountability Institute (GAI) President Peter Schweizer.
The GAI report, tilted, “From Russia with Money: Hillary Clinton, the Russian Reset, and Cronyism,” reported that Podesta joined the Joule Unlimited board in June 2011.
“Two months after Podesta joined the board, Vladimir Putin’s Rusnano announced that it would invest up to one billion rubles into Joule Unlimited, which amounts to $35 million. That represents one-fifth of the entire amount of investment dollars Joule collected from 2007 to 2013,” the GAI report concludes.
As Breitbart News previously reported, Sepp forwarded a message concerning the Joule shares to Podesta from Mark C. Solakian, who was Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Joule Unlimited Technologies, Inc.
“It is my understanding that John transferred the resulting 75,000 common shares from the option exercise to the Leonidio LLC.,” Slovakian wrote in a January 2014 email. “As such, we would need to edit the Transfer of Share Agreement to reflect the transfer of 75,000 common shares to the LLC.”
Podesta also failed to disclose fully his position on Joule Unlimited’s board of directors and to include it in his federal financial disclosures, as required by law, before he became President Barack Obama’s senior adviser in January 2014.
Last week, Donald Trump’s presidential campaign’s Senior Communications Advisor Jason Miller demanded that Podesta either explain his connection to Joule or resign as Clinton’s campaign chairman.
“The disclosure that Clinton Chair John Podesta transferred his shares in Putin-backed Joule Unlimited to an anonymous holding company when he joined the Obama Administration is extremely concerning,” Miller said in a statement.
“Because the holding company is completely anonymous, we do not know whether or not he still has deep financial ties to Vladimir Putin and his regime,” Miller’s statement continued. “As such, Mr. Podesta needs to either reveal who is behind the holding company or he must resign from the Clinton campaign immediately.”
Podesta has yet to comment publicly on his involvement with Joule Unlimited.

Trump travel ban partly reinstated; fall court arguments set

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is allowing President Donald Trump to forge ahead with a limited version of his ban on travel from six mostly Muslim countries to the U.S. Trump hailed the decision as a "victory for national security," but it's likely to set off a new round of court disputes over anti-terror efforts and religious discrimination.

The justices will hear full arguments in October in the case that has stirred heated emotions across the nation and pointed rebukes from lower courts saying the administration is targeting Muslims. Until then, the court said Monday, Trump's ban on visitors from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen can be enforced if those visitors lack a "credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States."

The ruling sets up a potential clash between the government and opponents of the ban over the strength of visitors' ties to the United States. A senior official said plans already had been written to enforce the ban aggressively. But immigrant groups said relatively few people try to enter the United States without well-established ties. Those groups said they will be sending lawyers and monitors back to American airports, where the initial, immediate implementation of the ban in January caused chaos and confusion.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said the ban would be implemented starting 72 hours after being cleared by courts. That means it will take effect Thursday morning.

As the justices issue the final rulings of their current term, the U.S. Supreme Court is set to rule on Monday in a closely watched religious rights case. The case involves limits on public funding for churches and other religious entities.

The nine justices are due to rule in six cases. These do not include their decision expected in the coming days on whether to take up President Donald Trump's bid to revive his ban on travelers from six predominantly Muslim countries.

The president has denied that the ban targets Muslims but says it is needed "to protect the nation from terrorist activities" committed by citizens of the six countries. All six have been designated as presenting heightened concerns about terrorism and travel to the United States.

The 90-day ban is necessary to allow an internal review of screening procedures for visa applicants from the countries, the administration says. That review should be complete before Oct. 2, the first day the justices could hear arguments in their new term.

The ban will have run its course by then, raising a question of whether the justices will even issue a decision in the case or dismiss it because it has been overtaken by events.

The court asked both sides to address the issue of timing, along with questions about whether the ban is aimed at Muslims, the impact of Trump's provocative campaign statements and federal courts' authority to restrain the president in the area of immigration.

A 120-day ban on refugees also is being allowed to take effect on a similar, limited basis.

Three of the court's conservative justices said they would have let the administration apply the bans without the limits imposed by their colleagues.
Justice Clarence Thomas, joined by Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch, said the government has shown it is likely to win the legal case in the end. Thomas said the government's interest in preserving national security outweighs any hardship to people denied entry into the country.

Trump hailed the court's order as a "clear victory for our national security," especially after lower court rulings that blocked the travel ban in its entirety. He said in a statement that his "number one responsibility" is to keep Americans safe.

His administration's implementation plans, largely orchestrated by White House adviser Stephen Miller, focus on refusing entry to people who are unable to show a substantial and pre-existing tie to a person or institution in the United States. The plans were described by a senior official who was familiar with them, speaking on condition of anonymity because this person was not authorized to discuss them publicly by name.

But some immigration lawyers said relatively few people would fall under the ban because people coming to study, work or visit family members already have sufficient relationships with others already is in the country.

"This order, properly construed, should really allow for only the narrowest implementation of any part of the ban. It's going to be really important for us to make sure the government abides by the terms of the order and does not try to use it as a backdoor into implementing the full- scale Muslim ban," said Omar Jadwat, the American Civil Liberties Union lawyer who is representing some of the challengers to the travel ban.

Conflict and Revolution1775 to 1776

April 14, 1775 - Massachusetts Governor Gage is secretly ordered by the British to enforce the Coercive Acts and suppress "open rebellion" among colonists by using all necessary force.
April 18, 1775 - General Gage orders 700 British soldiers to Concord to destroy the colonists' weapons depot.
That night, Paul Revere and William Dawes are sent from Boston to warn colonists. Revere reaches Lexington about midnight and warns Sam Adams and John Hancock who are hiding out there.
At dawn on April 19 about 70 armed Massachusetts militiamen stand face to face on Lexington Green with the British advance guard. An unordered 'shot heard around the world' begins the American Revolution. A volley of British muskets followed by a charge with bayonets leaves eight Americans dead and ten wounded. The British regroup and head for the depot in Concord, destroying the colonists' weapons and supplies. At the North Bridge in Concord, a British platoon is attacked by militiamen, with 14 casualties.
British forces then begin a long retreat from Lexington back to Boston and are harassed and shot at all along the way by farmers and rebels and suffer over 250 casualties. News of the events at Lexington and Concord spreads like wildfire throughout the Colonies.
April 23, 1775 - The Provincial Congress in Massachusetts orders 13,600 American soldiers to be mobilized. Colonial volunteers from all over New England assemble and head for Boston, then establish camps around the city and begin a year long siege of British-held Boston.
May 10, 1775 - American forces led by Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold capture Fort Ticonderoga in New York. The fort contains a much needed supply of military equipment including cannons which are then hauled to Boston by ox teams.
May 10, 1775 - The Second Continental Congress convenes in Philadelphia, with John Hancock elected as its president. On May 15, the Congress places the colonies in a state of defense. On June 15, the Congress unanimously votes to appoint George Washington general and commander-in-chief of the new Continental Army.
June 17, 1775 - The first major fight between British and American troops occurs at Boston in the Battle of Bunker Hill. American troops are dug in along the high ground of Breed's Hill (the actual location) and are attacked by a frontal assault of over 2000 British soldiers who storm up the hill. The Americans are ordered not to fire until they can see "the whites of their eyes." As the British get within 15 paces, the Americans let loose a deadly volley of musket fire and halt the British advance. The British then regroup and attack 30 minutes later with the same result. A third attack, however, succeeds as the Americans run out of ammunition and are left only with bayonets and stones to defend themselves. The British succeed in taking the hill, but at a loss of half their force, over a thousand casualties, with the Americans losing about 400, including important colonial leader, General Joseph Warren.
July 3, 1775 - At Cambridge, Massachusetts, George Washington takes command of the Continental Army which now has about 17,000 men.

July 5, 1775 - The Continental Congress adopts the Olive Branch Petition which expresses hope for a reconciliation with Britain, appealing directly to the King for help in achieving this. In August, King George III refuses even to look at the petition and instead issues a proclamation declaring the Americans to be in a state of open rebellion.
July 6, 1775 - The Continental Congress issues a Declaration on the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms detailing the colonists' reasons for fighting the British and states the Americans are "resolved to die free men rather than live as slaves."
July 26, 1775 - An American Post Office is established with Ben Franklin as Postmaster General.
November 28, 1775 - The American Navy is established by Congress. The next day, Congress appoints a secret committee to seek help from European nations.
December 23, 1775 - King George III issues a royal proclamation closing the American colonies to all commerce and trade, to take effect in March of 1776. Also in December, Congress is informed that France may offer support in the war against Britain.
January 5, 1776 - The assembly of New Hampshire adopts the first American state constitution.
January 9, 1776 - Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" is published in Philadelphia. The 50 page pamphlet is highly critical of King George III and attacks allegiance to Monarchy in principle while providing strong arguments for American independence. It becomes an instant best-seller in America. "We have it in our power to begin the world anew...American shall make a stand, not for herself alone, but for the world," Paine states.
March 4-17, 1776 - American forces capture Dorchester Heights which overlooks Boston harbor. Captured British artillery from Fort Ticonderoga is placed on the heights to enforce the siege against the British in Boston. The British evacuate Boston and set sail for Halifax. George Washington then rushes to New York to set up defenses, anticipating the British plan to invade New York City.
April 6, 1776 - The Continental Congress declares colonial shipping ports open to all traffic except the British. The Congress had already authorized privateer raids on British ships and also advised disarming all Americans loyal to England.
April 12, 1776 - The North Carolina assembly is the first to empower its delegates in the Continental Congress to vote for independence from Britain.
May 2, 1776 - The American revolutionaries get the much needed foreign support they had been hoping for. King Louis XVI of France commits one million dollars in arms and munitions. Spain then also promises support.
May 10, 1776 - The Continental Congress authorizes each of the 13 colonies to form local (provincial) governments.
June 28, 1776 - In South Carolina, American forces at Fort Moultrie successfully defend Charleston against a British naval attack and inflict heavy damage on the fleet.
June-July, 1776 - A massive British war fleet arrives in New York Harbor consisting of 30 battleships with 1200 cannon, 30,000 soldiers, 10,000 sailors, and 300 supply ships, under the command of General William Howe and his brother Admiral Lord Richard Howe.
June-July, 1776 - On June 7, Richard Henry Lee, a Virginia delegate to the Continental Congress, presents a formal resolution calling for America to declare its independence from Britain. Congress decides to postpone its decision on this until July. On June 11, Congress appoints a committee to draft a declaration of independence. Committee members are Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Livingston and Roger Sherman. Jefferson is chosen by the committee to prepare the first draft of the declaration, which he completes in one day. Just seventeen days later, June 28, Jefferson's Declaration of Independence is ready and is presented to the Congress, with changes made by Adams and Franklin. On July 2, twelve of thirteen colonial delegations (New York abstains) vote in support of Lee's resolution for independence. On July 4, the Congress formally endorses Jefferson's Declaration, with copies to be sent to all of the colonies. The actual signing of the document occurs on August 2, as most of the 55 members of Congress place their names on the parchment copy.
July 4, 1776 - United States Declaration of Independence
July 12, 1776 - As a show of force, two British frigates sail up the Hudson River blasting their guns. Peace feelers are then extended to the Americans. At the request of the British, Gen. Washington meets with Howe's representatives in New York and listens to vague offers of clemency for the American rebels. Washington politely declines, then leaves.
August 27-29, 1776 - Gen. Howe leads 15,000 soldiers against Washington's army in the Battle of Long Island. Washington, outnumbered two to one, suffers a severe defeat as his army is outflanked and scatters. The Americans retreat to Brooklyn Heights, facing possible capture by the British or even total surrender.
But at night, the Americans cross the East River in small boats and escape to Manhattan, then evacuate New York City and retreat up through Manhattan Island to Harlem Heights. Washington now changes tactics, avoiding large scale battles with the British by a series of retreats.
September 11, 1776 - A peace conference is held on Staten Island with British Admiral, Lord Richard Howe, meeting American representatives including John Adams and Benjamin Franklin. The conference fails as Howe demands the colonists revoke the Declaration of Independence.
September 16, 1776 - After evacuating New York City, Washington's army repulses a British attack during the Battle of Harlem Heights in upper Manhattan. Several days later, fire engulfs New York City and destroys over 300 buildings.
September 22, 1776 - After he is caught spying on British troops on Long Island, Nathan Hale is executed without a trial, his last words, "I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country."
September 26, 1776 - Congress appoints Jefferson, Franklin and Silas Deane to negotiate treaties with European governments. Franklin and Deane then travel to France seeking financial and military aid.
October 9, 1776 - San Francisco is established by Spanish missionaries on the California coast.
October 11, 1776 - A big defeat for the inexperienced American Navy on Lake Champlain at the hands of a British fleet of 87 gunships. In the 7 hour Battle of Valcour Bay most of the American flotilla of 83 gunships is crippled with the remaining ships destroyed in a second engagement two days later.
October 28, 1776 - After evacuating his main forces from Manhattan, Washington's army suffers heavy casualties in the Battle of White Plains from Gen. Howe's forces. Washington then retreats westward.
November, 1776 - More victories for the British as Fort Washington on Manhattan and its precious stores of over 100 cannon, thousands of muskets and cartridges is captured by Gen. Howe. The Americans also lose Fort Lee in New Jersey to Gen. Cornwallis. Washington's army suffers 3000 casualties in the two defeats. Gen. Washington abandons the New York area and moves his forces further westward toward the Delaware River. Cornwallis now pursues him.
December 6, 1776 - The naval base at Newport, Rhode Island, is captured by the British.
December 11, 1776 - Washington takes his troops across the Delaware River into Pennsylvania. The next day, over concerns of a possible British attack, the Continental Congress abandons Philadelphia for Baltimore.
Among Washington's troops is Thomas Paine, author of Common Sense, who now writes "...These are the times that try men's souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country: but he that stands it NOW deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like Hell, is not easily conquered. Yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph."
December 25-26, 1776 - On Christmas, George Washington takes 2400 of his men and recrosses the Delaware River.
Washington then conducts a surprise raid on 1500 British-Hessians (German mercenaries) at Trenton, New Jersey.
The Hessians surrender after an hour with nearly 1000 taken prisoner by Washington who suffers only six wounded (including future president Lt. James Monroe). Washington reoccupies Trenton. The victory provides a much needed boost to the morale of all American Patriots.
