Subject: They're kicking them off their land

Dear friends,

Middle Eastern kings and princes are about to force up to 48,000 people in Tanzania from their land to make way for corporate-sponsored big game hunting. But Tanzanian President Kikwete has shown before that he will stop deals like this when they generate negative press coverage. Click to deliver a media blitz that will push President Kikwete to stop the landgrab and save these Maasai.

Sign the petition
At any moment, a big-game hunting corporation could sign a deal which would force up to 48,000 members of Africa's famous Maasai tribe from their land to make way for wealthy Middle Eastern kings and princes to hunt lions and leopards. Experts say the Tanzanian President's approval of the deal may be imminent, but if we act now, we can stop this sell-off of the Serengeti.

The last time this same corporation pushed the Maasai off their land to make way for rich hunters, people were beaten by the police, their homes were burnt to a cinder and their livestock died of starvation. But when a press controversy followed, Tanzanian President Kikwete reversed course and returned the Maasai to their land. This time, there hasn't been a big press controversy yet, but we can change that and force Kikwete to stop the deal if we join our voices now.

If 150,000 of us sign, media outlets in Tanzania and around the world will be blitzed so President Kikwete gets the message to rethink this deadly deal. Sign the petition now and send to everyone:

The Maasai are semi-nomadic herders who have lived in Tanzania and Kenya for centuries, playing a critical role in preserving the delicate ecosystem. But to royal families from the United Arab Emirates, they're an obstacle to luxurious animal shooting sprees. A deal to evict the Maasai to make way for rich foreign hunters is as bad for wildlife as it is for the communities it would destroy. While President Kikwete is talking to favoured local elites to sell them on the deal as good for development, the vast majority of people just want to keep the land that they know the President can take by decree.

President Kikwete knows that this deal would be controversial with Tanzania's tourists -- a critical source of national income -- and is therefore trying to keep it from the public eye. In 2009, a similar royal landgrab in the area executed by the same corporation that is swooping in this time generated global media coverage that helped to roll it back. If we can generate the same level of attention, we know the pressure can work.

A petition signed by thousands can force all the major global media bureaus in East Africa and Tanzania to blow up this controversial deal. Sign now to call on Kikwete to kill the deal:

Representatives from the Maasai community today urgently appealed to Avaaz to raise the global alarm call and save their land. Time and again, the incredible response from this amazing community turns seemingly lost causes into legacies that last a lifetime. Lets protect the Maasai and save the animals for tourists that want to shoot them with camera lenses, rather than lethal weapons!

With hope and determination,

Sam, Meredith, Luis, Aldine, Diego, Ricken and the rest of the Avaaz team

IACOCCA IS BACK - HE NAILS IT!

IACOCCA IS BACK - HE NAILS IT!

Just as true today as it was when his book first came out.

He was, and still is, a brilliant businessman!

Often we need to be reminded of Iacocca's words.

Remember Lee Iacocca, the man who rescued Chrysler Corporation from its death throes in the 80s? He's now 82 years old and has a new book, 'Where Have All The Leaders Gone?'

Lee Iacocca Says:
'Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage with this so called president? We should be screaming bloody murder! We've got a gang of tax cheating clueless leftists trying to steer our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even run a ridiculous cash-for-clunkers program without losing $26 billion of the taxpayers' money, much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, 'trust me, the economy is getting better..'Better? You've got to be kidding. This is America , not the damned 'Titanic'.  I'll give you a sound bite: 'Throw all the Democrats out, along with Obama!'

You might think I'm getting senile, that I've gone off my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak up. I hardly recognize this country anymore..

The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs.. While we're fiddling in Afghanistan , Iran is completing their nuclear bombs and missiles and nobody seems to know what to do. And the liberal press is waving 'pom-poms' instead of asking hard questions. That's not the promise of the ' America ' my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for.  I've had enough. How about you?

I'll go a step further. You can't call yourself a patriot if you're not outraged. This is a fight I'm ready and willing to have. The Biggest 'C' is Crisis! (Iacocca elaborates on nine C's of leadership, with crisis being the first.)

Leaders are made, not born. Leadership is forged in times of crisis. It's easy to sit there with thumb up your butt and talk theory. Or send someone else's kids off to war when you've never seen a battlefield yourself. It's another thing to lead when your world comes tumbling down.

On September 11, 2001, we needed a strong leader more than any other time in our history. We needed a steady hand to guide us out of the ashes. A hell of a mess, so here's where we stand.

We're immersed in a bloody war now with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving.. But our soldiers are dying daily.

We're running the biggest deficit in the history of the world, and it's getting worse every day!

We've lost the manufacturing edge to Asia , while our once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health care costs.

Gas prices are going to skyrock again, and nobody in power has a lucid plan to open drilling to solve the problem. This country has the largest oil reserves in the WORLD, and we cannot drill for it because the politicians have been bought by the flea-hugging environmentalists.

Our schools are in a complete disaster because of the teachers' union.

Our borders are like sieves and they want to give all illegal's amnesty and free healthcare.

The middle class is being squeezed to death every day.

These are times that cry out for leadership.

But when you look around, you've got to ask: 'Where have all the leaders gone?' Where are the curious, creative communicators? Where are the people of character, courage, conviction, omnipotence, and common sense? I may be a sucker for alliteration, but I think you get the point..

Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo?

We've spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened.

Everyone's hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping the government will make it better for them. Now, that's just crazy.. Deal with life.

Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing. Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when 'The Big Three' referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen, and more important, look what Obama did about it!

Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debt, or solving the energy crisis, or managing the health care problem. The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry.

I have news for the Chicago gangsters in Congress. We didn't elect you to turn this country into a losing European Socialist state. What is everybody so afraid of? That some bonehead on NBC or CNN news will call them a name? Give me a break. Why don't you guys show some spine for a change?

Had Enough? Hey, I'm not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom here. I'm trying to light a fire. I'm speaking out because I have hope - I believe in America .. In my lifetime, I've had the privilege of living through some of America 's greatest moments. I've also experienced some of our worst crises: The 'Great Depression,' 'World War II,' the 'Korean War,' the 'Kennedy Assassination,' the 'Vietnam War,' the 1970's oil crisis, and the struggles of recent years since 9/11.

Make your own contribution by sending this to everyone you know and care about. It's our country, folks, and it's our future. Our future is at stake!

A Prophetic Word

8/10/12

     Here is a prophetic word that was sung at our church this past Sunday.  Remember every prophectic word gives us a Word from God to "war" with in our lives.  So, selah, pause and calmly think on it.  Hear what the Spirit of the Lord says;

I'm about to take you in.
Many never see my glory, but I'm about to take you in.
Doors will seem like they're closing, but I'm about to open up a new and better way.
I Am the Lord your God and I know the way.
Many try to go their own way, but I know what doors are closing.
I know the ways that are open and even though it looks like the doors are closing, don't you dare give up, don't you dare quit.
For I Am on the horizon and opening up a new way, a greater plan, a greater day, a greater way and I'm opening it just for you.
I have seen your faith in the night season ,yeah, you never give up and you never quit even though others have left me.
You remain faithful and I can count on you.  I count you as faith to me and I will do wonderful things for you.
I have said over and over again, I show myself strong on your behalf.
So get ready, and understand, that I have given you a clue, many doors will be closed to you.
They're not the doors that I want you to walk through but I'm about to open a door for you.
It will be broad and a high way and it will be the right one.
So don't try to push open any doors, let me show one greater than you ever perceive, greater than you ever thought, for I am the God of the end times and I'm setting my children up.
I'm setting my children up right in the right place, right at the right time.
So don't be discouraged if a door close in your face.
I'm about to open up a new one.
I'm about to open up a new one.

This is what I hear the Spirit of the Lord saying:

Many of you have tried to open up some doors by pushing and pressing.  Those were not the doors that I opened for you but I'm about to open up doors that will be open up wide and see these are the doors for you, that I have enlarged so that you can proclaim my gospel, large so you can walk up and down in my glory.  For the glory of God will rest upon you and many will see and know that I Am God.  I'm placing you in a right place, in a strategic place for the season that is at hand.  Many are lost and needing someone to show them the way.  And you are that group and I have divinely inspired places for you and I'm about to bring and open those doors wide for you.  You think that you're forgotten, you think that I have left you out.  But I have not left you out, I'm bringing you to the forefront.  I'm bypassing all others so that my glory might be seen in these last days so that I can un-strand the last remnant of those who would be saved.  I'm working a plan and my plan is for the kingdom.  So listen and follow Me saith the Lord and you will see that greater way, you will know that greater vision, you will know the glory of the Lord God in the midst of diversity.  You will know Me like you've never known Me before.
"I know your [record of] works and what you are doing.  See!  I have set before you a door wide open which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My Word and guarded My message and have not renounced or denied My name." (Rev. 3:8- Amplified)
"There is a right time for everything, and everything on earth will happen at the right time." (Eccles. 3:1 Easy To Read Version)

THE INSIDE STORY OF THE CAPTURE OF SADDAM

Editor’s note: This article is reprinted with permission of the Tea Party Review magazine.
By Ralph Benko
A thick two-foot square of Styrofoam began to work its way from what now appeared to be a brickwork entrance in whatever was below. As the top was tossed away, a haggard man in a charcoal colored dishdasha [robe-like garment] began to move. Lights and muzzles bore down the man, illuminating him inside the darkness. Seeing no immediate weapon, the SOF (Special Operations Forces) men kept the flash-gang grenade at bay.
“Samir,” a soldier shouted, calling out to an Iraqi-American refugee working with the special ops team, “come and talk to him. Tell him to come out before he gets killed.”
“Who are you?” demanded the soldiers through the translator.
“I am Saddam Hussein, the duly elected president of Iraq,” the startled man replied. “I am willing to negotiate.”
“Well, President Bush sends his regards,” answered one of the men.
Those are the words of retired Lt. Col. Steve Russell – also known as state Sen. Steve Russell, R-Okla., – the man whom many consider one of the masterminds of the capture of Saddam Hussein.
He was elected to the Oklahoma state senate in 2008, running on a platform of “support for veterans, 2nd Amendment rights, adoption reform, and reducing the tax burden on working Oklahomans.”
At a time when America is fascinated by the exploits of the U.S. Navy’s Seal Team Six, which terminated “with extreme prejudice” the terrorist Osama Bin Laden, and when a certain politician seems to think he deserves credit for disposing of bin Laden (in one speech on the subject, President Obama used the word “I” once per minute), the heroes who neutralized the Butcher of Baghdad should be recognized.
Because of the nature of the bin Laden mission, the Seal Team Six story may never be fully known to the public. That makes the story of Saddam’s capture all the more interesting. Russell tells the tale in his book, “We Got Him! A Memoir of the Hunt and Capture of Saddam Hussein.” But in addition to the gripping account of the Saddam hunt, Russell reveals a story about the values that make America great.
In an exclusive interview, Russell said, “I had hoped folks would be moved by the soldier stories of valor and sacrifice in the book. There are some very moving and compelling stories in the book. Many think the capture was some singular event. There was loss of life and loss of blood to get that raid.”
Many Americans whose only exposure to the war is from television news or Hollywood dramatizations think of Saddam’s capture as a kind of indiscriminate assault. That is as far from the truth as you can get. The meticulousness and discipline with which the military, especially U.S. field commanders, devised and executed the strategy is, perhaps, one of the great untold stories of modern warfare. In ancient times the compelling narrative of the capture would have been immortalized in a work such as “Gilgamesh” or “The Iliad.” It has that kind of epic quality. During World War I or World War II, Col. Russell very likely would have come home to a tickertape parade and a hero’s welcome.
The loss of respect for heroes is much more of a loss to America’s civilian population – a loss of example and a loss of inspiration – than it is to the heroes themselves. Heroes tend to be quiet, unassuming, people intent on getting the job done, despite great personal risk, rather than motivated by a desire for glory or a sense of vainglory. We likely will never know the identity of the members of Seal Team Six during their lifetimes.
But here is a chance to get to know some of those kinds of heroes. “We Got Him!” is filled with intrigue, human interest, and a plot worthy of a Robert Ludlum thriller.
The late Robin Moore, author of “The Green Berets” and “The French Connection,” called the book, “An extraordinary personal glimpse of the war. A monumental credit to himself, his troops, and the United States of America.” Col. Russell’s commanding officer, Gen. Raymond Odierno, bears witness that the book “is the most accurate account I have read to date of the … capture of Saddam Hussein, the brave and heroic actions of his soldiers, along with the countless sacrifices and actions by so many like them, have shaped the future of the world in which we live.” Brian Bennett, a former Baghdad bureau chief of “TIME” magazine, noted, “When I was embedded with Russell’s battalion… I watched them tighten the noose on Saddam, but I never knew how they did it – until I read this book.”
Before deploying to Iraq Col. Russell served in Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Kosovo. He was very much in the center of the action of America’s wars that filled the headlines of the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. No action in which he participated is or could be as iconic, of course, as the hunt and capture of Saddam. Russell has now left the Army and gone on to become a state senator, in Oklahoma. He is a devout Christian and left the military after long and distinguished service (and despite the offer of a promotion) to be an involved father of his five children.
Another glimpse inside the book:
The SOF [Special Operations Forces] guys were, without argument, the best. It wasn’t about the mystery behind them. Some of us had known some of them from earlier days. I had served in the same battalion with one of jack’s team members in Alaska in the 1980s. They were the best because they were the most fit, most dedicated, best-trained and best-supplied operators on the planet. They could do things that we could only dream about. These teams were commanded by majors, but rank was never part of the equation. Full names were almost never known to those outside the community unless you had previously served with one of them. Ranks were never used and were not necessary. Every man in the team had a job and was an expert in it.”
Readers will learn about the two brothers, businessmen from Saddam’s birth village, who supplied critical information about the dictator’s 25 bodyguards, about “the 40″ (family members and others in an extended network that provided him with personal services), about “route clearers” (several groups with 800 people each who would cover the chokepoints ahead of the routes he might take), and about the Five Families who were in control of it all.
By this time, the U.S. Army had already defeated the Iraqi army, which had almost disintegrated. The forces Col. Russell would soon command were given orders to occupy Tikrit, and by June 2003, the insurgency had begun in earnest. In a 2009 interview for Parcbench.com, Col. Russell said he “and my soldiers and the others in the brigade” came up with a strategy to go after the Five Families, especially the most influential, the Musslits.
Our analysis led us to believe that there was an upper tier – the “Deck of Cards” guys – consisting of Saddam and his henchman, the ones who got all of the publicity. Then there was the bottom tier, which I called “the trigger pullers,” who we “fought in the bloody street battles.”
So we asked ourselves, “Who’s in between?” As we looked at it and took the information from the brothers in Tikrit, we concluded that in between was the security apparatus. We called them “the Bodyguards.” We figured that they must be the ones acting as go-betweens between Saddam and his remainder network and the guys fighting in the streets. If we could find them, we could follow them back and find Saddam.
Now you know both the end and the beginning of the true story of the hunt and capture of Saddam Hussein. The narrative between is one of rare power. Steve Russell’s “We got Him!” will confirm for any Tea Party patriot why Americans are so right to hold the members of the uninformed services in such great respect.

MICHAEL BODINE
May 23, 1959 - August 1, 2012
We Salute the Life of a True Patriot and Great Freedom Keeper for Liberty
As suddenly as Michael Bodine entered the current of my life, and that of the We The People organization, he departed.
He entered in June 2000 when he introduced himself by telephone. He passed last week, unexpectedly.
For those twelve years, Michael gave and gave, and continued to give, all of his time, his extraordinary intellect, wisdom and heart, all in service to his Country - all in defense of his Constitution and the Rule of Law.
In 2000, Michael, the stranger, telephoned to offer his life's saving (approximately $60,000) to fund a full-page message in USA TODAY to inform the People of the Government's refusal to meet with an IRS whistleblower and other experts regarding the constitutionality of the operation and enforcement of the Internal Revenue Code, and the fraudulent ratification of the 16th Amendment, and to encourage the People to educate themselves on the issues. Click here for the text of the July 7, 2000 USA TODAY message funded by Michael.
From that day until the day he passed, there was no separating Michael from WTP. Together we planned the work and worked the plan to hold Government officials accountable to the entire Constitution.
Michael had a faithful adherence to the constituted authority of America and was loyal to the cause of institutionalizing citizen vigilance.
For a measure of the talent and esteem in which Michael was held, one only has to review the archive of all the articles posted at www.givemeliberty.org beginning in July of 2000. Mike helped plan the events, posted all the articles, and was responsible for all things related to the Internet.
In addition to his technological skills, Mike was articulate, with a wonderful way with words, and he had a natural talent in matters of law, from research to the writing of legal briefs.
As was the case with each of his siblings, Michael Bodine was highly accomplished.
Mike graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Management Sciences & Management Information Systems.
Before his alliance with WTP, Mike had over two decades experience as a Programmer, Systems Analyst and Project Management consultant. He specialized in the design and implementation of cost & schedule software systems and in the management & business practices of large government projects.
He had worked on a number of multi-year, multi-billion dollar projects headed by organizations such as : Rockwell International, Westinghouse, Fluor Daniel, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
For a number of years, Mike held a top-secret, "Q" clearance with the Department of Energy, making him a first-hand witness to the management of America's leading technology programs.
In 1993, Mike became involved in a major whistleblower case involving fraudulent accounting, procurement and progress claims on a major Department of Energy environmental restoration contract for a former nuclear materials processing facility. As a key witness in the case, Mike was able to help document a wide array of illegal management practices and outright theft that resulted in the loss of millions of taxpayer dollars.
The case was settled out of court just prior to a District Court evidence hearing that would have exposed the illegal alteration of electronic computer files by the Defendant. The settlement amount was the largest in U.S. history of any whistleblower case where the Department of Justice did not intervene on behalf of the Whistleblower.
Mike's use of his project management skills and planning efforts has been of significant benefit to the We The People organization.
Click here for an example of Michael's project management skill - his slide presentation for Project TOTO, given at the Crystal City Hilton Hotel on February 17, 2001.
For a glimpse of Mike's early years Dan Celander, his friend of 35 years, has provided the following for posting here.
I first met Mike Bodine (aka "Bo") outside Smugglers' Inn in Clive, Iowa on the evening after our high school senior banquet in May of 1977. As it turned out, Mike could not enter the bar at Smugglers' Inn where most of his high school comrades were having their after-party for only one technical reason: Mike did not become of legal age for another few days. What transpired in our initial conversation moved and inspired me in ways beyond my expectations of this brief first encounter outside that bar. And little did I know that it would be the beginning of a vibrant, lasting friendship of over 35 years.

Beginning a friendship has never been easy for me, particularly at that time in my life with the then recent loss of both my father and brother. Mike understood what it meant to lose someone dear even before it occurred to him in this natural world. I sensed this of him from our initial conversation. It took me years to appreciate how deeply Mike understood human nature being the old soul that he is.

Mike's passion for life abounded in everything he did for work, play, and love. His work was varied. He particularly enjoyed integrated systems analysis and project management. He recognized that businesses could improve their efficiencies simply through better project management strategies. He devised creative solutions that many of his clients adopted for their advantage. He continued to apply these principles in his passionate work with the Foundation.

His play was always fun and fair. One of the things that Mike's friends will always acknowledge is his enjoyment for argument and debate. Those who know well Mike's spirit will attest that Mike enjoyed the banter for banter's sake; that arguments are not meaningful without substantive support for one's position; and that, in the end, what matters most is the debate itself and not who wins or loses. Mike was passionate about the process of engagement and the fun everyone had along the way.

Mike's loves were focused on his life with Julia and their three Lhasa Apsos (Buster, Bailey and Brennan); his love for his family; and in his love of the Foundation's mission. Mike met Julie during their college days at the University of Iowa. Mike always spoke of Julie as his soul mate. He never used such terms lightly. He never had another partner like Julia since their relationship.

Mike always had strong, emotional bonds to his immediate family. It was a visceral experience to see Mike interact with his family. At times, I felt like Eddie Haskell intruding in the American Family embodied by the Bodines. The members of the entire Bodine clan are all so bright that it was a treat to watch the social dynamics in play!

Mike was raised in the Catholic faith, but his spirituality took a quantum leap through his relationship with a woman "healer" named Patti. In that spiritual re-awakening, Mike recognized and appreciated his final calling in life: to educate others to adhere to the constitutional principles espoused by the Founding Fathers. Mike sacrificed so much in support of his final call. I know that he will rest well knowing that he accomplished his work with moral dignity and integrity.

That is the being of the Mike Bodine who I know and love. He has repeatedly touched and moved my life in countless ways. I hope that his being has inspired you, too.
And the following from Judith Whitmore, National Coordinator for We The People Congress:
God Bless Mike for his humble, selfless, tireless, determined Service to America for the Cause of Liberty, Justice and Truth!

If you send him Love and Gratitude, I'm willing to bet you'll feel his Love coming back to you on a Ray of Light.

There are three of us who work by Bob's side at the national level - Judy, Mike and myself.

Mike has been with Bob since 2000 helping in a variety of capacities including the all-important promotion of our webinars and updates, publicizing our tours, posting information on our websites, managing our email database; managing IT projects and programmers; and providing strategic and editorial input on Bob's legal briefs and updates. He has been a true blue patriot friend to Bob and the organizations. He has Served America's Constitutions and the Cause of Liberty in uncountable ways over the years, always behind the scenes and ever so humbly.

There are so many more things to say about Mike's loyalty, talents, incredible intelligence and ongoing determination that Truth and Divine Justice would have their day in America.

Mike had a stroke in May. He lost much of the use of the left side of his body, but was working diligently each day to re-train and recover his skills. Fortunately, his ability to speak and think was not impaired! What a smart and intuitive man! Over these past weeks, he has provided crucial information from his hospital bed so we could work with a volunteer programmer to continue on with priority IT needs.

Bob called him nearly every day to show him support, keep up his spirits and remind him that he was needed. I had many talks with him too about his hopes for America. He truly felt that we were entering into a time in America when all the efforts Bob had been making for decades and he, since 2000, were finally going to come to fruition. He didn't want to miss it for anything.

Mike's dad called Bob to tell us that Mike passed away unexpectedly.

We accept his VICTORY IN THE LIGHT! We accept he has a front row seat and is joining with all the patriots of old "Up There" to help America at this time.

We wanted you to know what had taken place and ask your prayers for Mike and his family.

While the loss of Mike --ever since May and even with his help - has been a setback for us, we will continue onward. Every constructive action towards permanent citizen vigilance, government accountability and constitutional governance restored in America, will be with Mike in mind.

The state coordinator calls and the webinars will begin again soon, at which time we will provide a fuller explanation of all that has been taking place. Be patient as we endure and overcome.

God Bless Michael Bodine! Huzzah - Mike! Huzzah! We Love You! We Thank You for Your Tireless Service to America and our Constitutions. Thank you for all you have done for the Cause of Liberty. Be with us all moving forward!

Michael Bodine is truly one of Americas' unsung, modern day heroes, ever so humble, selfless, tireless, and determined in his Service to America for the Cause of Liberty, Justice and Truth.

I am forever grateful that Michael came into my life and I am proud to call him my friend.
God Bless You, Dear Michael.
