Study Finds Cancer-Causing Chemical in Nearly 100 Shampoos and Soaps

(Laura Beans) The Center for Environmental Health (CEH) revealed independent testing on Tuesday finding a cancer-causing chemical in 98 shampoos, soaps and other personal care products sold by major national retailers. The chemical, cocamide diethanolamine (cocamide DEA), a chemically-modified form of coconut oil used as a thickener or foaming agent in many products, was listed by California as a known carcinogen last year.

Products tested with high levels of cocamide DEA include shampoos made by Colgate Palmolive, Colomer, Paul Mitchell and many others. In addition, products marketed for children and a product falsely labeled as organic were found with the chemical, in violation of California law.

CEH filed a California lawsuit Tuesday against four companies that sell products containing cocamide DEA, and the nonprofit has sent legal notices to more than 100 other companies that produce and/or sell cocamide DEA-tainted products that their products violate state law.

“Most people believe that products sold in major stores are tested for safety, but consumers need to know that they could be doused with a cancer-causing chemical every time they shower or shampoo,” said Michael Green, executive director of CEH. “We expect companies to take swift action to end this unnecessary risk to our children’s and families’ health.”

In addition to many brand name shampoos and personal care products (see the full list, below), the CEH testing found cocamide DEA in store-brand products purchased at Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Pharmaca and Kohl’s. A store brand children’s bubble bath from Kmart and a children’s shampoo/conditioner from Babies R Us were also found with cocamide DEA. Falsely labeled organic products from Organic by Africa’s Best also tested for high levels of the cancer-causing chemical (CEH previously won a legal settlement with this company requiring it to end its use of phony organic labels).

CEH has purchased the shampoos and other products containing cocamide DEA at Bay Area, CA, locations of major retailers and from online retailers since June, and commissioned an independent lab to determine the total content of the chemical in the products. In many cases, products contain more than 10,000 ppm cocamide DEA, and one shampoo tested at more than 200,000 ppm (20 percent) cocamide DEA. California listed cocamide DEA in June 2012 as a chemical known to cause cancer based on the assessment by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, which evaluated skin exposure tests on animals.

A Silent Chinese Invasion & Disarmament of America is Taking Place

America, if there was ever a time in our nation’s history that it was imperative that we as Americans separated ourselves from the constant dribble of the false paradigm of American politics, the time is definitely now. I find myself in total disbelief as I watch the obvious consequences of the corruption, massive wasteful spending, the outsourcing of the American labor force and many other ills that have plagued this nation for decades come boiling to a head like a massive pimple on a teenager’s forehead. When this pimple pops, it is going to hurt. We have to stop pretending that there is only one corrupt political party and that it’s the one that we don’t vote for. We must accept that it has been the successful employment of divisive tactics by the communists seeking to dominate our wills that have brought us to where we are. Over the course of the last year, I have had the distinct pleasure of sharing my interpretation of these events with you. Whether I drew on my experience of being educated by radical Alinskyite leftists, or researched the goals of the communists and connected them to daily events; it’s all coming to fruition, and if we do not wake up and collectively shout “No,” and defend our liberty, we will not win this America.

Many of you may remember this while others may not. Still, others may have simply let this bit of information come in one ear and exit the other without even entertaining the real meaning of it. In late December of 2012 and early January of 2013 there were reports that The Chinese Government demanded the Obama administration take the necessary steps to disarm law abiding citizens in this country. Furthermore, earlier this year, yours truly submitted an article to Save America Foundation discussing a report submitted to the U.N. by the Chinese, where they specifically claim that our second amendment violates the “human rights” of others to live “safe.” Many people’s reaction to these types of reports is immediate denial and disbelief; how could the Chinese in any way have an influence over our laws, our constitutional rights? Currently I believe they hold what, one trillion dollars of our debt? America, this past month marks the first time in U.S. history where communist Chinese troops were on U.S. soil training with U.S. troops. This occurred in Hawaii.

Does anyone see the seriousness of this yet? If all of this isn’t convincing enough, perhaps we should discuss the fact that the states of New York and California are currently in the process of confiscating firearms from law abiding citizens. How long they will remain law abiding remains to be seen but you can read about that here. Some of you may be beginning to wonder where I am going with all of this. Perhaps you are like my wife and think I just ramble on and on, trust me, the pimple is about to blow.

The Chinese are in the process of building their own cities, rather, what they refer to as “economic safe zones” right here in the United States of America folks. So far they have bought up territory in Idaho where they plan to build a fifty square mile city specifically for Chinese economic activity, exclusively for Chinese people. I’m quite certain this isn’t the same thing as Chinatown folks. You can see this here. Here comes the good part, they are building another one in New York, just west of New York City where the gun confiscation has begun. Do you get it yet? This is nothing short of an invasion that has been subsidized with the help of our corrupt politicians on the left and the right by you, the American tax payer. If one were to ask my opinion, I would say that all political posturing, the lying, the cheating, the distractions, the name calling, etc, etc, etc. was done to keep us from realizing this America. This is just my opinion of course.

The fact that the dollar is on its death bed and the Chinese renminbi is rapidly becoming the second most used currency in the world is also aiding in this silent invasion. To take advantage of this fact, the two major financial powerhouses of Asia have made an agreement to ramp up production of Chinese goods denominated in Chinese in renminbi. As soon as the dollar crashes it is highly likely this currency will settle as the world’s reserve. A position currently held by our dollar that has enabled the U.S. to superficially maintain a world superpower status, even though we have been producing nothing and operating with deficits for some time.

America, can’t you see that we have been duped on a massive scale? We have been lied to by all involved and the people who you believe are representing you know full well that this is occurring, whether you call yourselves a conservative or a liberal. Even if the scant few politicians, who appear for all practical purposes to know of the dangers we face, who stand in opposition to corruption had the intestinal fortitude to do anything about it, they couldn’t. It has progressed all too far, and the wealth of this nation has all but been completely drained. Until we realize that we have collectively allowed these people to swipe away our liberty, intentionally divide us and purposefully set out to create hate and discontent, this agenda will continue unabated.

Banks to face Justice Dept action against money laundering: WSJ

The U.S. Justice Department plans additional enforcement actions against banks that do not have enough safeguards against money laundering, the acting head of the department's criminal division said in an interview to The Wall Street Journal.
"I think (banks) still need to do more," said Mythili Raman, the acting assistant attorney general of the Justice Department's Criminal Division.
"There's more (enforcement actions) to come, and that suggests to me that there are still banks that haven't gotten the message."

A federal judge on Wednesday approved an agreement between JPMorgan Chase and U.S. prosecutors to settle charges that the bank violated anti-money laundering laws by failing to alert authorities to warning signs its employees encountered in dealings with convicted Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff.
Raman said the department was not looking for one-off instances. "We need to show a willful violation of their duties to ensure that there's an effective compliance program in place."

President Obama’s new staff adviser, senior progressive strategist John Podesta, is a key player in an initiative seeking more government regulation of the oceans and the ceding of U.S. oceans to United Nations-based international law.

That background could inform Podesta’s agenda in the White House, where he is to serve for one year as a “counselor” to the president. The New York Times reported he will focus on executive orders and so-called climate change issues along with Obamacare.

Podesta, a former chief of staff to President Bill Clinton, is founder of the highly influential Center for American Progress.

He is also a member of the Joint Ocean Commission Initiative, which seeks to ratify U.S. laws and regulations governing the seas.

“I am delighted to be joining the Global Ocean Commission, which I see as one of the most dynamic initiatives developing commonsense ways to manage fully 45 percent of the globe that remains common property, outside any national jurisdiction,” said Podesta when he joined the commission.

The Joint Ocean Commission Initiative bills itself as a bipartisan, collaborative group that aims to “accelerate the pace of change that results in meaningful ocean policy reform.”

Among its main recommendations is that the U.S. should put its oceans up for regulation to the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Other recommendations of Podesta’s Joint Ocean Commission Initiative include:

• The administration and Congress should establish a national ocean policy. The administration and Congress should support regional, ecosystem-based approaches to the management of ocean, coastal and Great Lakes.
• Congress should strengthen and reauthorize the Coastal Zone Management Act.
• Congress should strengthen the Clean Water Act.

Last year, Obama’s Interagency Ocean Policy Taskforce, created in 2010 also by executive order, recommended the U.S. join the U.N.’s Law of the Sea Convention.

The convention defines the rights and responsibilities of nations in their use of the world’s oceans, establishing guidelines for businesses, the environment and the management of marine natural resources.

Republican lawmakers mounted fierce opposition to the U.S. joining the U.N. law.

‘One world government’

Podesta’s Joint Ocean Commission Initiative, meanwhile, is a key partner of Citizens for Global Solutions, or CGS, which, according to its literature, envisions a “future in which nations work together to abolish war, protect our rights and freedoms and solve the problems facing humanity that no nation can solve alone.”

CGS states it works to “build the political will in the United States” to achieve this global vision.

The organization currently works on issues that fall into five general areas: U.S. global engagement; global health and environment; peace and security; international law and justice; and international institutions.

CGS is a member organization and supporter of the World Federalist Movement, which openly seeks a one-world government. The World Federalist Movement considers the CGS to be its U.S. branch.

The movement brings together organizations and individuals that support the establishment of a global federal system of strengthened and democratized global institutions with plenary constitutional power accountable to the citizens of the world and a division of international authority among separate global agencies.

The movement’s headquarters are located near the U.N. building in New York City. A second office is near the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands.

The locations are significant, since the movement heavily promotes the U.N. and is the coordinator of various international projects, such as the Coalition for the International Criminal Court and the Responsibility to Protect military doctrine. The doctrine formed the basis of Obama’s justification to launch NATO airstrikes in Libya.

In 2008, Podesta served as co-director of Obama’s transition into the White House.

A Time magazine article profiled the influence of Podesta’s Center for American Progress in the formation of the Obama administration, stating that “not since the Heritage Foundation helped guide Ronald Reagan’s transition in 1981 has a single outside group held so much sway.”

The center is funded by billionaire George Soros. Its board includes Van Jones, Obama’s former “green jobs” czar, who resigned in September 2009 after it was exposed he founded a communist revolutionary organization.

Once in a while I come across an article that is so excellent it leaves me in shock. During the Iraq war, there were many Iraqi tanks that were melted and sitting in a pool of glass. These tanks were burned by a new energy weapon, and I believe this "holy grail" article has perfectly nailed how it was done.

Introduction:
When it comes to war, America portrays it self as a nation of compassion. All to often, it is also a nation paralyzed by political division. Therefore from the American political and military perspective, the best weapon system would not go "bang", or leave smoking holes in the ground to be photographed by news reporters. It would be a weapon of stealth, bringing silent death to the opponent. Preferably without the adversary even knowing they are under attack, or what has caused their demise. This ideal weapon system would have the twin characteristics of being both very selective in it's destructive powers, and able to reach inside buildings or other structures without the need for physical intrusion that might be detected, or worse (from a political viewpoint), publicized. If such a weapon were to exist, it would be prized above all others by the American government, since it would serve the twin goals of "compassionate war", and "avoidance by stealth" of political paralysis and/or retribution. If you think such a weapon system is science fiction, prepare for a shock, because it's already deployed and fully operational.
1.1.2 Refraction: Refraction is the property of transparent materials to bend light. All transparent materials exhibit this property. Refractive index (sometimes called index of refraction) is a numerical measurement of this property. By definition, the refractive index of free space is set to 1. All transparent materials bend light more than free space, and therefore have a refractive index greater than 1. In other words, given two materials of the same thickness, the material with a higher refractive index will bend light more than the material with a lower refractive index.
1.1.3 Secondary Effects: In most materials, changes in environmental conditions (temperature, pressure, etc.) cause corresponding shifts in refractive index. This is especially true of gaseous materials where pressure and temperature have a large influence over refractive index. The presence of electromagnetic fields can also influence refractive index, and again, gaseous materials are far more susceptible. Further, the refractive index of any given material will change for different wavelengths of light. A prism is a good example of this last phenomena. White light enters the prism, and since different wavelengths (colors) are bent by differing amounts, a spectrum of colored light emerges from the far side.
1.1.4 The Optical Lens and Mirror: It is the phenomena of refraction, along with geometric shape that allows a lens to focus light. Given a pair lens, made from identical materials, the lens with greater curvature will have a shorter focal length. Given a pair of lens made from differing materials, and with identical curvature, the lens with a higher refractive index, will have a shorter focal length. In other words, both curvature AND refractive index determine lens focal length. Some types of mirrors and optical filters also depend on refraction for their functionality. Reflection from a non-metallic surface is caused by the difference in refractive index between the air and the reflective material. In some situations, a lens or mirror can form inside a single material, due to a shift in refractive index, caused by environmental conditions in differing parts of the material (1.1.3).
1.2.1 Natural Phenomena: Those who have lived near the great lakes, may have noticed an odd effect. Sometimes the Sun will cast double shadows of objects. The effect is most noticeable with telephone poles or other tall slender objects. It's caused by a large change in relative humidity, over a short distance. The large change in relative humidity results in an abrupt shift in the refractive index of the atmosphere. Under these conditions, the atmosphere can act as a lens (1.1.3, 1.1.4), thereby creating a second "image" of the Sun, and casting a second and generally much weaker shadow of an object. Another related phenomena is seen under desert conditions. Instead of humidity, intense ground heating supplies the abrupt change in atmospheric refractive index (1.1.4). And again, a double image is created, this time not of the Sun, but of distant objects near the horizon. In both situations, the atmosphere is in effect, acting as a giant lens and/or mirror.
1.2.2 Engineered Phenomena, the Early Years: It's called Cobra Dane (see fig.1 below) and it's known as an over-the-horizon (OTH) radar. Built on the island of Shemya in Alaska at Eareckson air station, first deployed in 1977, and using a 29m (95 foot) phased array antenna, this radar tracks ICBM launches inside Russia & China. Most people believe that radar, like light, is a line-of-sight phenomena, however this is not always true. The Cobra Dane radar uses the top of Earth's atmosphere as a mirror, to reflect it's radar beam over the horizon and look deep inside Russia & China. To accomplish this seeming feat of magic, first it focuses the radar beam at a spot in the atmosphere, some 50-70 miles above the Russian/Chinese border, causing localized heating in the air (radar is microwave energy after all). This spot then acts as a mirror because the heated air has a slightly different refractive index than the surrounding air (1.1.3, 1.1.4, 1.2.1). The atmospheric mirror can then be use to by the radar to "see" around the curvature of the Earth. Also, by selective heating, a curved mirror can be produced, thereby magnifying the view "seen" by the radar. Of course every so often the radar must reheat the atmosphere in order to sustain the mirror.

Republicans call for removal of Obama supporter leading IRS targeting probe

Republicans claim the Justice Department's investigation of the IRS targeting scandal is "compromised," after revealing that it's being led by one of President Obama's political supporters. 

In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, the lawmakers said they've learned trial attorney Barbara Kay Bosserman is leading the probe. They detailed federal campaign finance records showing she's given more than $6,000 to Obama's two presidential campaigns -- and urged Holder to remove her from the case. 
"By selecting a significant donor to President Obama to lead an investigation into inappropriate targeting of conservative groups, the Department has created a startling conflict of interest,"  Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, wrote in the letter. "It is unbelievable that the Department would choose such an individual to examine the federal government's systematic targeting and harassment of organizations opposed to the President's policies. 
"At the very least, Ms. Bosserman's involvement is highly inappropriate and has compromised the Administration's investigation of the IRS." 
The letter comes amid questions over the status of the criminal case, which has not yet produced any public results. 
It has dragged on for months, ever since the IRS last May first acknowledged that it had slow-walked the applications of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.
On Thursday, the Department of Justice responded to the allegations, saying in a statement that it was against department policy and “a prohibited personnel practice under federal law to consider the political affiliation of career employees or other non-merit factors in making personnel decisions. “
“Additionally, removing a career employee from an investigation or case due to political affiliation, as Chairmen Issa and Jordan have requested, could also violate the equal opportunity policy and the law.”
