These are findings I first reported on over a decade ago—but I know some of you weren’t with me then, so they definitely bear repeating. In the Journal of the American Medical Association, researcher Larry Clark, PhD, presented convincing evidence that supplemental selenium could reduce cancer death rates by as much as 50 percent! [...] … the selenium group had a 63 percent reduction in the incidence of prostate cancer, a 58 percent reduction in colon or rectal cancer, and a 45 percent reduction in lung cancer. The results of this study are remarkable. Even if the reduction in death rate was only half as good, nearly 100,000 lives a year would be saved just from taking a safe, inexpensive nutritional supplement. Selenium helps to protect against cancer on three levels: 1. Its antioxidant properties generate glutathione, which mops up hydrogen peroxide, a potent free radical produced in your body by normal metabolic processes. 2. It facilitates quick repair of free-radical damage to the DNA molecule. Our current understanding of cancer is that a damaged DNA molecule replicates, carrying with it a “spark” that ignites the growth of tumors. If adequate selenium is present, the DNA molecule is repaired and normal cellular function returns. 3. It initiates apoptosis, or cell death, in cancerous and precancerous cells. Cancer cells divide rapidly and die early. Selenium appears to cause them to die before they replicate, short-circuiting malignancy and tumor growth. Selenium is found in some, but not all, multivitamin/ mineral products.

EDMONTON - Premier Alison Redford is heading to Virginia this week to attend a conference attracting top members of the world’s financial sector.

Redford will be away Wednesday to Sunday at the Bilderberg conference, where she is expected to discuss topics such as monetary policy, sustainable development of resources and environmental concerns. The trip comes with an estimated bill of $19,000.

“It is important for the world to understand that Alberta is open for business. Alberta is now competing against jurisdictions from around the world, and we need to make our mark,” Redford said in a statement. “It is critical that we ensure the international community understands who we are as a people and how important our relationship is.”

The premier’s office said the excursion to Virginia is part of a “more aggressive push” from the premier to influence global decision-makers, and expand Alberta’s international business interests.

Incredible developments have emerged spelling out how Romney may not have actually taken the nomination, after all.

Even with news circulating like wildfire that Romney secured the Republican nomination with an alleged win in Tuesday's Texas Primary, it seems as though this may not actually be the case. Ironically enough, Romney still may not have even taken Texas, yet.

After a careful comb through the numbers, how the race is playing out and what delegate totals are emerging from the states, it seems as though Romney currently has only around half of the 1,144 delegates needed to win the Republican nomination.

So, why is the 'national' media acting this way? Are they incorrectly still using the 'estimated' delegate totals, based on the initial caucuses and primaries from each state, while ignoring the actual delegate totals emerging as the states finally begin to conclude their weeks-long delegate selection processes?

Darren Pearson, an organizer of the Vancouver 9/11 Truth Society, is thrilled. That's because the event follows on the heels of a symbolic decision rendered on May 11 of this year by an international people's tribunal sponsored by the Kuala Lumpur Foundation to Criminalise War, a private organization founded by former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad. A panel of judges issued a verdict declaring ex–U.S. president George W. Bush and seven members of his administration, including former vice president Dick Cheney and ex–defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld, guilty of torture and war crimes in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“That's big news in my world,” Pearson told the Straight in a phone interview. “That's a great achievement, even though we know that nobody went to jail yet. It's a long ways from that. But that's still an important step.”
American lawyer Alfred Webre, who was a judge in the Kuala Lumpur proceedings, is coming to Vancouver for the event. Webre will help evaluate information presented by speakers at the so-called Vancouver Hearings, which will be held at Denman Cinemas June 15 to 17.
