Lawmakers Issued License Plates That Make Them 'Invisible' To Traffic Cams And Parking Tickets

There are rules for the common people and rules for their "leaders," and only in rare cases do the same rules cover both. Chris Morran at the Consumerist points out how politicians (yet again) are being allowed to ignore the same laws that affect their constituents. Colorado legislators are immune from speeding tickets and parking tickets thanks to the special plates issued to lawmakers -- ones that aren't included in the DMV database.

According to CBS Denver, the info for these particular license plates is never entered into the DMV database, so when some state senator goes zooming by a speed camera, he or she won’t get a ticket, because the camera system looks up the license plate number through the DMV. Since no info comes up, no ticket is given.

This appears to be true for parking tickets as well. See, even though a parking enforcement officer might leave a ticket on the car, cities like Denver that rely on the DMV for addresses of vehicle owners come up empty when they try to collect on those tickets.

On the parking ticket side alone, there are $2,100 worth of unpaid tickets linked to these "invisible" plates. The Dept. of Public Works has decided it's "too costly" to pursue collection of those fines. Of course, now that this is public knowledge, a politician has "stepped up" to right the wrong.

One state lawmaker recently stated his intention to close this loophole through legislative action in the next session, by simply doing away with the plates altogether.

“[I]t’s absolutely unfair,” said state representative Chris Holbert. “We should be held accountable like any other citizen. We are elected to represent the people and there’s no reason for us to be treated differently.”

If only this sort of behavior were an aberration. Earlier this year, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad's speeding SUV was pursued by a highway patrol officer who decided (or was instructed) not to pull it over after realizing whose vehicle it was. Like in Colorado, certain public vehicles are issued plates that aren't listed with the Iowa DMV, which makes these vehicles automatically exempt from traffic cam tickets, parking violations and apparently, even speeding clocked by an on-duty state trooper. It should be noted that the trooper raising the complaint about the governor's speeding driver (another state trooper) was placed on leave after making this public.

After this small debacle, Governor Branstad too "stepped up" to rein in the injustice, except that his idea of "reining it in" falls far short of Colorado legislator Chris Holbert's plan. In Branstad's view, the problem isn't with the plates, per se. It's that there are too many of them.

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is upset about the number of specialized license plates that have been given to state, local and federal agencies.

More than 3 thousand plates have been issued that exempt the vehicles from getting traffic camera tickets. Brandstad has ordered state transportation officials to cut the number of the special plates.

Over 350 agencies in Iowa have these plates at their disposal (over 3,000 issued so far), a ridiculous amount considering the plates were originally intended for undercover use by various arms of Iowa law enforcement. Branstad probably isn't looking to give up his ticket-dodging plate but presumably will be forcing several others to play by the same set of rules as the public -- that same public these public servants are supposed to be serving.

But that's nothing compared to the staggering level of abuse (ranking between 'Chris Brown' and 'Foster Home' on the Abuse Chart) taking place in our nation's capital. Back in 2008, a report by the US Committee on Transportation detailed the astounding number of violations racked up by government employees and officials.

Municipal, state and federal government agencies are among the biggest offenders when it comes to illegal parking and non-payment of parking citations. A report released last week by the US House Committee on Transportation documented 4000 cases last year where employees in federal vehicles skipped out on paying parking tickets worth $700,000 in Washington, DC and New York City. The total does not include unpaid tickets in foreign countries and other cities throughout the fifty states where 642,000 automobiles registered to the US government are in use.

"Over one-half of all workers in the southernmost section of Manhattan are government employees," the report explained. "Essentially, all of lower Manhattan is a free parking lot for government vehicles."

Federal workers were not alone in ignoring parking laws. City workers in Washington and New York also disregarded citations issued by fellow employees. DC government vehicles generated 329 unpaid tickets worth $33,360 while New York city and state vehicles skipped out on paying 2562 tickets worth $490,939.

The worst offender? The FBI, which the report found to be responsible for the largest number of delinquent parking tickets by a single agency. The FBI, properly chastened, examined the cases listed and, because it's such a shit-hot investigative agency, found itself "unable to come up any suspects who may have been responsible for illegally parking FBI vehicles on 218 occasions."

To the surprise of roughly no one, those responsible for enacting and enforcing laws are seldom as interested in following them. Apparently, performing the "business of government" is such a total sacrifice that illegal parking, speeding and other traffic violations should be waved off so that our nation's do-gooders are unimpeded in their good doings.

Chapter One, The New Scriptures as Written by Sananda/Jesus As many of you know, we are preparing to release of Prosperity Funds for the good of all humankind any day now, to free all from the grip of economic slavery. There are just a few details having to do with the Vatican bankers which need to be ironed out. They are being convinced to give up their hold on the funds to allow them to be distributed. The Pope is presenting them with an offer they can't refuse, and as you know, he has already issued the decree allowing for their arrests, which was given a start date of September 1, 2013. That was done deliberately to give them a few weeks to change their minds voluntarily. It appears that some are beginning to weaken their grip. Just as everyone else on Planet Earth is struggling with the old rules and standards, the Vatican officials have been steeped in centuries of secrecy and absolute financial power over the entire Western world. Most people have no idea of the enormous wealth and the civil edicts which are still in place which give the Church ownership of all the lands which have ever been held by the Crown of England, and all the lands which were allied under the Axis powers, and all the countries of South America which have adopted the beliefs of the Catholic Church. This includes nearly all of Europe and the Western Hemisphere. So, as you may have suspected, the Catholic Church is the most powerful consolidated political force on the planet. By loosening their hold on the bank funds, the protectors of the Treasury are well aware that this would be the end to their personal power, and the end to the myth that the Catholic Church as an institution was ever a well-intended religious order. Of course, there have been many devout and well-meaning Priests, Bishops and lay worshipers, including the current Pope Francis I, but the institution in Rome has always been interested primarily in political and economic power to control the world. This is coming to an end. Many who are not religious in their current lives are unaware of the worldwide implications of how the dissolution of the Catholic Church will affect the lives of everyone on the planet. This is the ultimate inevitability - the complete dismantling of the Church, in all its glory, pomp and wealth. It will also mean the end of the psychological and religious stranglehold it has had on its people. I can hardly emphasize enough the enormous effect this will have on freeing the minds and hearts of the people. It may seem strange to some of you that it is I, the one who came to Earth as Jesus, who am at the forefront of this apparent attack on the religion that was ostensibly established in my name. I assure you that I would not and never have supported the establishment of any large organization which called itself "Christian." I was opposed to the building of great temples; this was an important part of my teachings. Above all, I would never have supported teachings which were designed to enslave the thinking and behavior of any of my students. I, Jesus, Yeshua ben Joseph, was raised a Jew. I practiced the principles and ethics I learned at my parents knees, and never left behind the essence of those teachings, which encouraged a strongly ethical and devout way of life. I was interested in expanding the limits of Judaism to create a practice based in the simple understanding that Love - the Love of Creator and of one's fellow creatures was the only principle needed to live a good life. I taught that turning away from dogma and rote practice of any rules is the first step in turning toward God. You see, in terms of the practice of the day when I lived, I was a radical/libertarian/free thinking agitator. This is the reason why both the powerful hierarchy of the Jewish community and the Romans wanted me eliminated. Any and all other Fundamentalist sects operating in the areas where I was teaching would have been opposed to what I taught as well, for I stood for the freedom of each individual to freely communicate with God, unhampered by any dogmatic human opinions or prejudicial ideas. I taught that there was no need for priests or intermediaries - all human beings are possessed with the innate ability to communicate telepathically with their God, their Angels, and even with their ancestors. Does this sound to you like some airy-fairy New Age extremism to you? Well, the New Agers have promoted their own misunderstandings as well. Namely, that spirituality is supposed to make you feel good, as an end in itself. I will talk more about that later. Let us concentrate here on the first lesson I will send to you through Kathryn, who has collaborated with me in the past to write the chapter in her book called, "The Christ You Never Knew." I am asking her now to begin presenting my teachings to you directly, in unedited, unadulterated form, unlike the documents you have had available until now. We are less limited now by the language, since more people speak English than spoke my Aramaic language 2000 years ago, and we will have more control over the translations than I did then. I ask that these lessons be distributed unedited, without commentary, in their entirety. Any translations must be specifically authorized by me. There will be Twelve Initial Chapters, which will work together as one Book of Teachings. As long as those standards are met, we offer them freely to the world. The Light from your Sun is brighter because you are now able to receive higher frequencies than ever before. Look around you and see it for yourself and feel the fresh energy that is everywhere. Confidential sources close to Conservative Report have confirmed that Valerie Jarrett was the key decision-maker for the administration, the night of the Benghazi terrorist attack on 9/11/2012.

The chronology of the evening of 9/11 are as follows:

After supper, Barack Obama had a telephone conference scheduled with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. 

Senior Advisor to the President, Valerie Jarrett was present for that v>

Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey summoned the President,and briefed him on the crisis, face to face.

Subsequent to that brief meeting, President Obama proceeded to the White House to dine in his living quarters.

After supper, Barack Obama had a telephone conference scheduled with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. 

Senior Advisor to the President, Valerie Jarrett was present for that conference, which was held due to problems the President was having with the perception of him snubbing Netanyahu in previous, formal encounters.

The telephone call between Obama and Netanyahu carried on for a full two-hours, creating the appearance of respect between the two world leaders.

As that meeting drew to a close, Ms. Jarrett, who is also the Assistant to the President for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, went from the living quarters to the White House Situation Room, where the attack in Benghazi was being monitored by Dempsey, Panetta and other top-ranking officials.

Whether she was instructed by the President to go there, or if she went of her own volition,  is only known by the President and herself.

A critical question that needed to be answered, and the sole military-order that could have launched offensive-actions, neutralizing the Ansar al Sharia terrorists attacks on the Mission (the purpose of which is detailed here) and its subsequent attacks on the adjacent CIA Annex, was the issuance of “Cross Border Authority”, an order that can only be issued by the Commander in Chief, himself.

As was reported earlier by Conservative Report, Cross Border Authority was denied.

Two revelations are deeply troubling:

First, it is reported that an Army Special Forces team was present with an AC-130U Spooky (also known as a Spectre Gunship) on the tarmac at the airport in Tripoli, Libya. The Spooky is a technologically sophisticated, tactical aircraft, operated by the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command.

It operates under the overall Special Operations Command stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, which is reportedly in charge of all military special operations units, including: Army Special Forces, Navy SEALS, Rangers and certain Marine units, as well as the USAF AC-130Us, and “stealth Blackharmal" style="text-align: justify;"> Add to that, a team of Green Berets on the ground to secure and/or evacuate the Annex, and the outcome would have been two SEALS still alive, and a mess of dead terrorists.

The AC-130U Spooky is equipped with weapons that sync with laser-designators, like those that Woods, Doherty and Ubben had on that lonely rooftop above the CIA Annex. The laser-designator was used to “paint” the mortar targets during the attack, subsequently claiming the lives of Woods and Doherty, and leaving Ubben without a leg. Had the AC-130U been on station, over the CIA Annex in Benghazi, moments before the mortar rounds were fired, instead of "awaiting further instructions," the entire outcome of the Benghazi fiasco would have been different.

Add to that, a team of Green Berets on the ground to secure and/or evacuate the Annex, and the outcome would have been two SEALS still alive, and a mess of dead terrorists.

The second, and most troubling aspect of the refusal to issue Cross Border Authority is, who issued the refusal. Rather than the President, the Commander In Chief, making critical decisions, granting or denying the authority to initiate offensive-actions in support of our valiant fighting men, the decision not to take action was made by a person, to whom the people did not elect, nor did the Congress have confirmation power over.

The military-order, not to initiate action, saving our men in Benghazi, was issued by the President's Advisor, Valerie Jarrett. 

And this is a “phony” scandal?

Loechin: Tony was very upbeat. Said as of last night at 8 pm (he was working with Wells-Fargo people directly), rates for the lowest dinar holders (tier 3) is above $11. It sounded to me like he was talking street rate since he will not impart any specific information about his group's plan. Didn't say how much higher. He said the tier 1 holders rates were phenomenal (the largest dinar holders). He also said that to take the 800 numbers seriously as he knows that WF is streamlining the offer and throwing in more perks. He was very excited, to say the least.

White House Pays $53 Million for Voter ID in Kenya While Opposing Same in US

Ever since Obama stole the 2008 election with rampant voter fraud, Republicans have been trying to pass laws that require a photo ID in order to vote. President Obama, and his puppet, Attorney General Eric Holder have fought against every one of those voter ID laws. They claim that they discriminate against poor black voters that are not able to obtain a valid identification card, even though they are able to obtain enough ID to get welfare and food stamps.

In August 2012, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney supported Obama’s stance against voter ID when he said:

“And on the voter ID case, I can tell you that, as you know, this administration believes it should be easier for eligible citizens to vote – to register and vote. We should not be imposing unnecessary obstacles or barriers to voter participation.”
 

In a typical case of Obama hypocrisy, we learn that the US government gave the Kenyan government $53 million to help fund a program called ‘My ID My Life.’ The program assists the younger generation to obtain National identification cards. Kenyan law requires that all citizens have the national ID cards before they are allowed to register to vote. Supposedly, the program helped to get over 500,000 people registered to vote prior the Kenyan elections held in March of this year.

So how does Obama and his cronies justify paying millions of dollars, that we don’t have, to help Kenyans get ID cards that are necessary for voter registration while at the same time legally challenging similar programs and laws here in the US?

Journalist and Senior Fellow with the American Civil Rights Union, Robert Knight is asking the same question when he told OneNewsNow:

“The irony is that the president is using taxpayer dollars to promote something in Africa that he is actively suppressing in the United States, and calling people names who are promoting that very thing.”
“This is an administration, you understand, whose Justice Department struck down voter ID laws in South Carolina and Texas just before the 2012 elections and has said over and over that states that are trying to require photo ID are motivated solely by political bias.”

FORT HOOD, Texas — The Army psychiatrist accused in the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood targeted fellow soldiers in a meticulously planned attack that included stockpiling bullets and researching Taliban leaders calling for jihad, a military prosecutor said Tuesday during the opening day of the long-awaited trial.
Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan spent time at a shooting range and purchased a pistol and extender kit to hold more ammunition before carrying out his plan to "kill as many soldiers as he could," Col. Steve Henricks told jurors. The shooting, which killed 13 people and injured more than 30 others, remains the deadliest mass shooting ever on a U.S. military installation.
Acting as his own attorney, Hasan told jurors the evidence would "clearly show" he was the gunman. But the American-born Muslim said the whole story wouldn't be revealed during the trial, which is under heavy security – including armed guards and 15-foot-tall stacks of shock-absorbing barriers – on the sprawling Texas military base.
Still, prosecutors are being careful. Hasan is charged with numerous counts of murder and attempted murder, and he would face the death penalty if convicted, but death sentences are often overturned in military courts.
Jurors were told by the judge to prepare for a trial that could take several months. Hasan, who is confined to a wheelchair, needs regular breaks because he was paralyzed after being shot by officers responding to the shooting.
On the day of the attack, Hasan sat among his fellow soldiers preparing to deploy at a building on the sprawling Army base. He had masked the sound of his equipment by stuffing paper towels into the pockets of his cargo pants, Henricks said.
"All those fully loaded magazines do not clink, do not move, do not give him away," the prosecutors told jurors, all military officers, during his opening statement. "He sits among the soldiers he's about to kill with his head down."
Hasan tried to clear the area of civilians, even walking over to a civilian data clerk to tell her she was needed elsewhere in the building because a supervisor was looking for her. The prosecutor said the clerk thought that was odd but went anyway.
"He then yelled `Allahu akbar!' and opened fire on unarmed, unsuspecting and defenseless soldiers," Henricks told the jury, noting that one of the soldiers who was killed ran after Hasan armed with nothing but a chair.
When Hasan left the building, a civilian approached him and asked what was going on. Hasan told him not to worry about it, and the civilian "walks away from the encounter unscathed," the prosecutor said. Hasan allegedly told another civilian that there was a training exercise going on and he was carrying a paintball gun.
Hasan only shot at one civilian who tried to stop him, Henricks said.
Henricks also said Hasan picked the date of the attack – Nov. 5, 2009 – for a specific reason, though he didn't immediately reveal details.
Hasan spoke for less than 2 minutes during his opening statement, which offered few details but touched on his religion.
"The evidence will clearly show that I am the shooter," said Hasan, who occasionally leafed through paperwork with his right hand while seated at the defense table. He added later that the evidence would show, "that we are imperfect Muslims trying to establish the perfect religion. ... I apologize for any mistakes I made in this endeavor."
Hasan had tried to plead guilty, but military law requires a not-guilty plea in death penalty cases. That failed effort was among numerous requests that delayed the trial for years. A fight over his beard, which violates military regulations, led to a stay shortly before his trial was expected to begin last year and the eventual replacement of the judge.
Hasan dismissed his attorneys earlier this year, and his brief opening statement on Tuesday mirrored his demeanor during jury selection last month when he did not speak often and asked only a few questions about religion.
He had wanted to argue that he carried out the shooting in "defense of others," namely members of the Taliban fighting in Afghanistan, but the judge denied that strategy. Over the next several weeks, he is expected to question witnesses and possibly present his own evidence – which will likely turn the trial into a faceoff between the gunman and his victims.
On the witness stand will be many of the more than 30 people who were wounded, plus dozens of others who were inside the post's Soldier Readiness Processing Center. They've also said they saw Hasan shout "Allahu akbar!" – Arabic for "God is great!" – and opened fire on unarmed fellow soldiers.
The government has said that Hasan had sent more than a dozen emails starting in December 2008 to Anwar al-Awlaki, a radical U.S.-born Islamic cleric killed by a drone strike in Yemen in 2011.
Hasan has never denied carrying out the attack, and the facts of the case are mostly settled. But questions abound about how the trial will play out. How will Hasan question his victims? How will victims respond? How will his health hold up?
The defendant is paralyzed from the waist down. He requires 15- to 20-minute stretching breaks about every four hours, and he has to lift himself off his wheelchair for about a minute every half hour to avoid developing sores.
Staff Sgt. Alonzo Lunsford, who was wounded, is expected to testify. He said he looked forward to seeing Hasan, in a way.
"I'm not going to dread anything. That's a sign of fear," Lunsford said. "That man strikes no fear in my heart. He strikes no fear in my family. What he did to me was bad. But the biggest mistake that he made was I survived. So he will see me again."
But Staff Sgt. Shawn Manning said he dreaded the expected confrontation.
"I have to keep my composure and not go after the guy," said Manning, a mental health specialist who was preparing to deploy to Afghanistan with Hasan. "I'm not afraid of him, obviously. He's a paralyzed guy in a wheelchair, but it's sickening that he's still living and breathing."
