Hidden Secrets of Poop Fossils

Posted: August 6, 2015

What if, thousands of years from now, all that was left of you…was your poop?
I’m Anna Rothschild, and this is Gross Science.
Every poop is a nugget of information. Poop records what we eat, where we live, even how we died. So when archaeologists find the fossilized poop of ancient humans, they get kind of excited.
These poop fossils are called coprolites, and they’re pretty rare. Although we make a lot of them, feces are tough to preserve.
But there are a few ways poop manages to stick around for posterity. It can dry out—in caves or in a mummy’s desiccated intestines. Particularly impressive poops can leave dents in the earth that get filled in—creating a cast and mold of the ancient bowel movement. And a turd can also turn to stone, when minerals in water slowly permeate and replace the molecules in the turd.
Whatever else was in the poop gets mineralized as well. Take this nearly 8-inch, 1000-year-old Viking monstrosity discovered in England. The poor Viking who created this treasure was infested with tons of intestinal parasites like whipworms, which were preserved along with the giant poo, illustrating just how squalid everyday life was back then. And this guy wasn’t an anomaly—archaeologists have also found cesspits (essentially Viking sewers) that were filled with parasite eggs.
Poop can also tell us who was living where. In Puerto Rico, the contents of 1-2 millennia-old coprolites backed up the archaeological evidence that native populations on the island at the time were two distinct cultural groups, with different diets, and different parasites.
Fossilized turds can even shed light on ancient murder mysteries. In Medieval Verona, the warlord Cangrande della Scala—patron of the poet Dante Alighieri—died at the age of 38 after a severe bout of vomiting and diarrhea. Rumors of foul-play spread, though at the time no one could prove it. But nearly 700 years later, researchers dug up the body and analyzed the feces that were preserved in the corpse’s rectum. They found out that he had ingested a poisonous plant before he died. And from the chamomile and mulberry pollen preserved in the poop as well, the researchers surmised that he drank a poisoned tea that killed him.
So the next time you grab your newspaper and head to the bathroom, think about it not so much as going number 2, but as contributing to the archaeological record.
Ew.

DRUG USED FOR CELL REGENERATION COULD ALSO REDUCE RADIATION DAMAGE AFTER EXPOSURE....

Drug Used For Cell Regeneration Could Also Reduce Radiation Damage After Exposure

Radiation is nothing to be tampered with. But until recently, scientists had very few medicinal therapies to offer victims as consolation.
Now, a study recently published in the journal Laboratory Investigation shows that a new drug commonly used to repair body tissue might play a double role—it could mitigate radiation damage a person’s intestines if ingested up to 24 hours after exposure.
drug-radiation_2048x1152
The site of the first detonation of nuclear weapon, conducted by the United States Army on July 16, 1945 and code-named "Trinity."
The prevailing radiation remedy, as of today, is called Prussian Blue; it absorbs some of the radiation lurking in a person’s body, but it ignores one of the main causes for concern: the intestinal barrier, a protective layer of cells that coats our intestines. Concentrated levels of radiation erode the intestinal barrier, limiting the gut’s ability to make use of nutrients and regulate bacteria—so victims of severe radiation exposure often experience dehydration, nausea, and vomiting. And sometimes, they die.
The new drug, though, targets the ailing intestinal barrier. Here’s Alexandra Ossola, writing for Popular Science:
The new drug, called TP508, was originally designed to help patients regenerate cells by increasing blood flow and decreasing inflammation, according to the press release—it’s been used to ensure that diabetic patients don’t lose a foot, or to help patients with wrist fractures heal more quickly. In this study, the researchers exposed mice to acute levels of radiation, then gave them an injection of TP508 after 24 hours. Not only did the drug prevent the destruction of the intestinal barrier cells, it boosted biomarkers characteristic of cell repair.
If the drug trials hold up in humans, it’ll be great news. We could someday have a much-needed emergency vial on hand when disaster strike.

RISE OF THE SUPER SOLDIER :  LIQUID ARMOUR, INDESTRUCTIBLE EXOSKELETONS AND WEAPONS THAT NEVER MISS REVEALED AS THE FUTURE OF WARFARE

War has been one of the greatest spurs to science in history.

Developments as diverse and far-reaching as space travel, superglue, duct tape and microwaves owe their origins beneath camouflage netting and behind sandbags.

Today's military innovations, though, are focused not just on getting the job done, but doing so as quickly as possible and bringing the soldiers home to their families in one piece.

Above photo: Wearing head-mounted displays (HMD) or VR glasses such as Oculus Rift, soldiers can explore scenarios, such as the challenges of administering first aid to wounded comrades while under enemy fire, in a realistic 360-degree 3D environment (pictured) that changes the image with the movement of the head and the body.

    The (Virtual) Realities of War

For example, simulations may already have a place in air force training, but soldiers can now put their skills to the test in virtual reality combat zones.

Wearing head-mounted displays (HMD) or VR glasses such as Oculus Rift, soldiers can explore scenarios, such as administering first aid to wounded comrades while under enemy fire, in a realistic 360-degree 3D environment that changes the image with the movement of the head and the body, via an in built tracking system.

Some battlefield simulation programs are even more realistic still.

Super Soldiers: How Tech Is Transforming The Future Of Warfare is in the latest issue of How It Works Magazine on sale now (pictured)

Polish troops train with integrated feedback that administers a small electric shock when the soldier gets ‘shot’.

While the US Department of Defense is so committed to the idea, it wants every soldier to have a virtual avatar that can be customised to reflect their individual skills and weaknesses.

    Nimble and Agile Exoskeletons

Elsewhere, soldiers powered by exoskeletons may have long been a staple of science fiction, but they're too becoming reality.

Taken from the Greek word meaning 'outer skeleton', exoskeletons are inspired by the hardened shells of the insect world and involve a frame of hydraulics which magnify the leg and arm movements of the wearer, allowing them to take more effortless strides and carry greater weights.

Military exoskeletons trialled as far back as the 1960s - such as General Electric's Hardiman - were able to increase the magnitude by a factor of 25.

This made lifting 25lb (11kg) loads as easy for the wearer as lifting 1lb (0.5kg), and had force feedback - similar to a XBox or PlayStation controller - so the operator could get an idea of the resistance that he or she was experiencing.

These projects were ultimately unsuccessful as the early exoskeletons reacted unpredictably - and sometimes violently - to anything less than gentle movements.

While many current exoskeleton projects have medical uses in mind, XOS and XOS 2, developed for the US Army by Raytheon-Sarcos, Hercule by firm RB3D, and Human Universal Load Carrier, better known by its acronym HULC, are primarily military endeavours.
Developed by Ekso Bionics and Lockheed Martin, Hulc is a lower extremity exoskeleton powered by a lithium-ion battery that works to redistribute the weight across the hips and legs, allowing its operator to comfortably carry 200lbs (91kg) with less effort.

The increasing weight of a soldier's gear, which includes a standard weapons, ammunition, rations, water, first aid kits, basic tools, satellite phone, GPS, helmet and body armour is a growing worry for commanders.

Early military exoskeletons (General Electric's Hardiman 1960s prototype pictured) were unsuccessful as they sometimes reacted violently

Early military exoskeletons (General Electric's Hardiman 1960s prototype pictured) were unsuccessful as they sometimes reacted violently
Indeed, the consequences of lugging around a weight of anywhere between 80lbs and 120lbs (36 and 54kg can be severe - perhaps even deadly.

'Distributing and managing a soldier's load can give enormous benefits in terms of combat endurance and efficiency,' explained Justin Bronk, military sciences analyst at The Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies.

    'People ended up toting around up to 40 kilos [88 pounds] of stuff which means if they've been on patrol for a couple of hours and they go prone when they start taking fire, often they just can't get back up again!;

Far more flexible than earlier exoskeletons, sensors mounted throughout Hulc's titanium frame and linked to an on-board microcomputer spur electric motors into action allowing the limbs to match the operator's movements instantly.

Lockheed's ambitions is that the system will allow for troops to be equipped with otherwise back-breakingly heavy sensor gear or - as Hulc offers no physical protection in itself - the sort of body armour that simply impractical for a soldier on foot to carry.

According to Mr Bronk, what's really holding them back from a roll out across battlefields is simple - energy.

'The basic problem with exoskeletons still is you need about ten kilowatts of power to run a typical load-bearing, armour-protected exoskeleton,' he continued.

'And you need to be able to run it for ten hours or so to make it mission capable because if the power runs out, an exoskeleton becomes a massive impediment to ability rather than a bonus.'

Lockheed is currently investigating electrochemical and solid oxide fuel cells to solve this problem, and the plan is for a 'long-range HLC' with a 72-hour battery life and bursts of speed up to 10mph (16 km) per hour.

Three Southern California sheriff’s deputies will face criminal charges in the beating of a man after he tried to escape on horseback in a high desert chase captured by NewsChopper4, District Attorney Michael Ramos said on Tuesday.
Charges were filed against San Bernardino County deputies Nicholas Downey, Michael Phelps and Charles Foster in the takedown of Francis Jared Pusok about 90 miles northeast of Los Angeles on April 9. Downey, Phelps and Foster were each charged with one count of assault by a public officer.
“I believe the deputies that were filed on today crossed the line under color of authority,” Ramos said. “But their actions should not tarnish the badge of those that honorably serve everyday.”
All three deputies are expected to appear in court for arraignment on Sept. 8 at the San Bernardino Justice Center. The charged deputies face anywhere from 16 months to 3 years in prison if convicted, Ramos said.

    TY to reader WJ:
As the choppy waters of September 2015 move ashore, all eyes will be on Pope Francis’ visit to the United States, jittery stock markets and signs in the heavens.
Francis is expected to enthusiastically endorse a new U.N. document that promises to wipe out poverty by 2030 by reordering the world economy along the lines of socialist principles. The document, titled “Transforming Our World: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” also seeks to “strengthen universal peace” and usher in a new era of shared prosperity.
The pope’s visit marks just one in a series of historic and potentially prophetic events during the month of September.
The climax of the biblical Sabbath year known as the Shemitah occurs on Sept. 13, along with a partial solar eclipse.
The largest-ever military exercise, Jade Helm, concludes Sept. 15, while the world’s most ambitious scientific experiment is taking place all month at the CERN Large Hadron Collider near Geneva, Switzerland.
Congress is supposed to vote on Obama’s Iran nuclear deal by by Sept. 17.
The 266th pope arrives on Sept. 23, the 266th day of the year, which also happens to be Yom Kippur or the Jewish Day of Atonement, and the beginning of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, also known as “the Feast of the Sacrifice.”
Francis will be the first pope to address a joint session of Congress Sept. 24.
Francis delivers the keynote speech Sept. 25 to the U.N. sustainability summit in New York.
On Sept. 28, the fourth and last of the “blood moons” takes place on the biblical Feast of Tabernacles.
Short of a global economic collapse, the U.N.’s rollout of its new agenda for sustainable development could have the most far-reaching impact of all these events.
See all of Jonathan Cahn’s books, movies and teachings in one place.
“Basically they are rebooting Agenda 21,” said Tom DeWeese, president and founder of the American Policy Center, and they are calling on the world’s most visible religious leader to promote the agenda.
The U.N. 2030 Agenda includes 17 goals that aim for the re-ordering of all human activity.

The days of big banks are done. Million dollar buildings that double as empty fortresses will soon be empty, or conveniently turned into FEMA holding centers when the collapse hits.
The tide is turning and the banks know it. Mass layoffs have been announced by almost every major institution in the world and this is just the beginning. Unfortunately small town America will be hit the hardest as some of these jobs are the highest paying in the household. Also taking a major hit will be Charlotte, NC, the banking center of the US, where Wells Fargo has over 22,000 employees, Bank Of America 15,000 and most major banks have a presence. Be on the lookout for some great real estate deals in Charlotte soon.
Bank have many problems. They have over expanded at a rate that doesn’t support demand, consumers don’t trust them, the average american has no savings, there has been a drastic shift to online banking, and probably the most important, they lack innovation. But don’t worry, Capital One is here to change the game with their roll-out of 360 internet cafes according to a recent article in Boston.com:
They will serve up coffee and other amenities. If they are anything like cafes in other cities, they will include free wireless Internet access, flat-screen televisions, and comfy furniture for hanging out.
“It’s a departure from the traditional banking experience that people have come to know,” said spokeswoman Amanda Landers.
Capital One’s cafes, already operating in eight cities, don’t have tellers to handle deposits and withdrawals, bankers to handle loans, or safe-deposit boxes to store valuables. They’re designed to introduce consumers to its online bank.
Instead of handling cash, employees at the existing cafes serve up espresso, sandwiches, and advice, helping customers set up online accounts and learn about the bank’s services. If customers want to make a deposit, Capital One employees hand them pre-addressed, stamped envelopes to mail deposits to the bank or help them download smart phone apps to deposit checks electronically.
As more customers bank via the Internet, mobile devices, and ATMs, many banks are reinventing their branches.
Bank of America plans to open at least a dozen so-called flagship branches, including one in Boston, with a “power bar” to plug-in gadgets and a wider assortment of specialists in lending, investing, and private banking.

JADE HELM explained: UN/US plot to confiscate weapons moves forward
    by
[Editor's note: I believe that Dave Hodges has figured out what JADE HELM is all about. It also explains those 300 FEMA camps, obtaining 2,000,000,000 rounds of .40 calibre hollow point ammo, the Pentagon survey of who would be willing to fire on other Americans and the rest. This is gun confiscation on steroids. While there is a dispute over the authenticity of the key document he cites (which snopes.com denies), the plan could be real even if it were fake. And Kerry has signed the ATT, which has been made "veto proof". All the pieces seem to fit.]
Trapped within the fanfare Chinese Black Monday and the American stock market plunging almost 600 points yesterday, suspicious explosions in China and on an American military base, there has been a very important, but quiet development, which is escaping the attention of both the American people and the Independent Media.

The Corker Bill Spells the End of the Second Amendment

We are safe from the ravages of the UN Small Arms Treaty, aren’t we? In fact, many Senators have openly stated that they refuse to ratify this controversial treaty. Well, that is not exactly true. There is a new process established by the new Corker bill may very well have changed the way treaties are passed from here on out.
Under our Constitution, a full two thirds vote from senators for ratification to approve any kind of a treaty. This provision of the Constitution is very clear on this point and it is designed to prevent a treasonous subversion of the Constitution. However when one is living under a criminal enterprise, such as the one presented by the present criminal enterprise in power, who worries about following the rules?
As a case in point, under the Corker bill, in order to have stopped the Iran nuclear deal, a two thirds vote to stop it from being implemented by the White House. This is not what the Constitution says and this out and out treason against the people of the United States as the Corker bill is a back door to taking our guns while nullifying the second Amendment.
Under the Corker bill, the following paragraphs describe what we are in for.

The Plot to Disarm America Is Commencing

The evidence is mounting that Obama and his colleagues at the United Nations are preparing for complete gun confiscation of civilian owned American guns. There is a new document, previously held secret, which has surfaced and clearly signals the intention of the United Nations to engage in gun confiscation in the relatively near future. The document is damning, however, the existence of the document is not even needed to prove the point that there is a major confrontation brewing between the American people and an international peace-keeping UN force, and it’s coming right around the corner.

    Another Nail In America’s Coffin

The following is a smoking gun document that presents seven sequential steps designed to culminate in the total disarmament of the American nation. For those of you that know your history, you will note that there were 17 genocides in the 20th Century and in each case, these genocides were preceded by gun confiscation by the host government. According to the Democide Project located at the University of Hawaii, governments killed far more people,  an estimated 26o million victims, than even war. History shows that if we ever allow government, the UN, or the U.S., to ever be able to seize our guns, we are signing our death warrant!
The following document is a declaration of war against the United States people. For those who find the document to be on the blurry side, scroll down to the Appendix to view a clearer copy.

The UN and its cohorts have accomplished steps 1-5 (see below). They are now working on steps 6 and 7 which would constitute complete disarmament of the American people.
The UN and its cohorts have accomplished steps 1-5 (see below). They are now working on steps 6 and 7 which would constitute complete disarmament of the American people.
If one examines the first five steps of the plot, it is easy to ascertain the pattern of gun confiscation that Obama has attempted to follow. I do not believe that Obama has to completely implement steps 1-5 before moving to enforce steps 6 and 7. Therefore, even though Obama has not completely implemented the first five steps across the country, he has done enough to usher in Steps 6 and 7 in this United Nations disarmament plan. Steps 6 and 7 are listed below:
“6. Finally, codification of laws to completely makes any and all firearms illegal to own, possess or use outside of military and law enforcement usage.

    7. Creation of a United Nations Police Taskforce with the specific mission of assisting member nations with the collection of weaponry from civilian hands”.
The proof for the validity of the intentions signaled by this document does not lie in the authenticity of any single document. The smoking gun evidence that Obama is progressively moving towards seizing all 300,000,000 civilian guns in this country, lies in the ubiquitous manner in which Obama has pursued sequential and progressive steps toward the disarming of the American people. As it has been said, “Judge a man by what he does, not by what he says”.
The cases in point would be what Obama has tried to accomplish after the Boston Marathon Bombing, the Batman Aurora, CO. shootings and the Sandy Hook event. With some very sloppy bootstrapping steps following these events, Obama has progressively attempted to make guns more difficult to obtain and he has greatly expanded what is defined as “military grade weapons” and to limit what is considered to be “appropriate” for hunting as he has tried to block Americans from obtaining as many of these weapons as possible.
“1. Classification of military grade weapons to be made illegal for possession”.
“4. Codification of laws to begin the restricting and strict licensing of hunting grade firearms.”
I am certain that most people familiar with present Second Amendment debates will recognize the various and omnipresent “gun buy-back” programs funded with your tax money designed to remove guns from civilian hands.
“2. Creation of programs to provide reasonable compensation for voluntary surrender of said arms”.
How many times have we witnessed Obama standing before the cameras and national press corps and threaten to take unilateral action against our gun rights following each one of the false flag events mentioned above? In each instance, Obama has used thinly veiled excuses that he only wants to take away guns that “military grade weapons”.
“1. Classification of military grade weapons to be made illegal for possession.
    5. Codification of laws to restrict the sale of, and possession of ammunition and components to manufacture ammunition”.

Connecting the Dots for Gun Confiscation

Even if the the UN document designed to disarm America, listed above, was not genuine (and it is), the following, very public document has been proven to be very authentic.
Under the heading, “Hiding in plain sight”, the United Nations has been advertising for the following position for over a year:
Posting Title: Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Officer, P4
Job Title Code: DISARMAMENT, DEMOBILIZATION AND REINTEGRATION OFFICER
    Department/Office: Department of Peacekeeping Operations
    Duty Station: New York
Job Description: A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration or related area. Experience working within peacekeeping, peace-building or development programmes operations is desirable. Secretary of State, John Kerry, signing away America’s freedom, security and longevity as he signs the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
There  is even more fuel to throw on this raging fire as we consider the fact that, at the behest of President Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry illegally, and in direct violation to the Constitution of the United States, signed the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. The UN Arms Trade Treaty contains all 7 provisions listed  above in the Disarmament Commission of the United Nations.

We should also be focusing on the military invasion that is about to unfold in this country. This will be the military invasion that will be UN sponsored and it will be the one that seizes our guns. Take a look at the following images of UN military vehicles spotted and photographed in our country in the past 14 months.
An occupation force is being mobilized.

    Conclusion

Thanks to Congress, Obama has found a backdoor way around the Second Amendment by subverting our treaty process.   The stealth in which this is occurring is mind-boggling. I hope that many of the readers will share this information with friends and neighbors. Americans cannot comply with the treason that will arise out of this act.

Ten Facts About The Berlin Wall

(October 3, 2015 is 25th Anniversary for One Germany Again.)

Ten Facts About The Berlin Wall

The Berlin Wall was a wall separating the Eastern side of Berlin from the Western side. It was a symbol of The Cold War until it fell in 1989. Here are ten facts about the Berlin Wall.

    Berlin WallFact One

Construction of the Berlin Wall began on August 13 1961 as a way of separating the three zones controlled by France, Britain and America from the zone controlled by the Soviet Union.
After World War Two, Germany was split into four zones, each occupied by one of the four Allied powers that defeated the Nazis. The zones controlled by France, Great Britain and America became West Germany, or Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Federal Republic of Germany). The Soviet-controlled zone became East Germany, or Deutsche Demokratische Republik (Germany Democratic Republic). Germany's capital, Berlin, was situated in Soviet-controlled East Germany , but as this city was the administrative area for the Allied forces, it too was split into four. This meant that France, Great Britain and America controlled West Berlin, whereas the Soviet Union controlled the East. Relations between America and the Soviet Union soured considerably during much of the second half of the Twentieth Century. The Berlin Wall was a symbol of this hostility, a physical representation of what was called the Iron Curtain.

    Fact Two

The Berlin Wall was constructed as a way of preventing East Germans from entering West Germany. It was not so much a boundary for West Germans wanting to enter the East, who were able to do so by obtaining a permit several weeks in advance. It didn't face much opposition by the western powers as its construction confirmed that the Soviet Union were not planning to take over West Berlin.

    Fact Three

Official figures show that at least 136 people died trying to cross the border. People attempting to get from East to West were regarded as traitors and guards were instructed to shoot at them if they attempted to cross, although not to kill them.

    Fact Four

The west side of the Berlin wall was covered in graffiti. The East side was not.

    Fact Five

The Berlin Wall was something of a propaganda disaster for the Soviet Union and East Germany. It showed the communists to be tyrannical in the way they controlled the movement of their people and their willingness to shoot at people they considered to be traitors.

    Fact Six

West Berliners used the Berlin Wall as an ideal way of getting rid of rubbish. If they had anything that needed throwing away, they threw it over the wall. After all, it wasn't as if they would be made to go over it to fetch it back.

    Fact Seven

Michael Knight himself, David Hassellhoff, is huge in Germany. The Hoff performed his hit "Looking For Freedom" while standing on the Berlin Wall in 1989.

    Fact Eight

Despite there being a wall separating East from West, there were a number of checkpoints that allowed passage to and from the two sides. The most famous of these was Checkpoint Charlie, a checkpoint separating the American-controlled zone of West Berlin from the Soviet-controlled East Berlin. The guard house for Checkpoint Charlie was removed in October 1990 and is now situated in the Allied Museum in Berlin-Zehlendorf. The last remnant of Checkpoint Charlie, an East German watchtower, was demolished in 2000.

    Fact Nine

Although November 9th 1989 is recognised as the date of the fall of the Berlin Wall, official demolition of it didn't start until June 13th 1990. Between November 9th and June 13th, border controls still existed, although were less strict that previously. Parts of the wall was chipped away by Germans to keep as souvenirs/sell on eBay. People who did this were known as "wall woodpeckers" (Mauerspechte) Some parts of the wall had been taken down but only to make way for more crossing points. All border controls ended on July 1st 1990 and Germany was recognised as one country again from October 3rd 1990.

    Fact Ten

The Berlin Wall was a physical barrier above the ground, but what about under the ground? Berlin, like many major cities, has an underground or subway system. After construction of the Berlin Wall, trains could only operate on the side in which they were based. Some trains either ran purely on the west side or the east side. Trains which previously crossed the border would now go no further than its respective border and then turn back. This was apart from three lines that were used by West Berliners but which went through East Berlin for a small part of their journeys. They travelled through several stations which became known as Ghost Stations (Geisterbahnhöfe), dimly lit and heavily-guarded stations that the trains were unable to stop at. This was apart from certain exceptions: Friedrichstasse Station was situated in East Berlin, but was used a transfer station for passengers to get onto other trains travelling to locations in West Berlin. Passengers could also enter East Berlin at this station if they had the relevant permits (also needed for crossing the Berlin Wall). Bornholmer Strasse Station was a station that both West and East Berlin trains passed through, but not on the same lines. Neither side's trains stopped at the station, and the two lines through it were separated by a tall fence. Finally, Wallankstrasse Station was another station situated right on the border. There were exits in the station, some leading the West Berlin, some leading to East Berlin. The exits to West Berlin were open and allowed people to pass through it freely. The exits to streets in East Berlin were locked. When the Ghost Stations were reopened after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the first people using them found them preserved as they were when they closed in 1961 with the same signage and advertisements on the walls.

This is the touching moment dozens of strangers came together to fix a 75-year-old's crumbling roof after the elderly man's kind-hearted neighbor posted about his struggles in a Facebook post.
David Perez uploaded the public plea for help on Monday, August 24, after he spotted his frail neighbor, Richard Dubiel, attempting to mend his rooftop in Fremont, California, all by himself.
'I feel sorry for him but I have no roofing skills,' he wrote. 'I would like to see if anyone can donate their time to help him finish. It appears that he has all the materials so looking for free labor.'
Mr Perez asked volunteers to turn up at his own house at Murphy Court last Saturday morning, so they could approach Mr Dubiel together and offer to help him 'finish putting shingles' on his roof.

His post was shared on Facebook a staggering 1,400 times. Incredibly, 40 people showed up to work on the elderly man's roof - while others donated water, donuts and pizza to volunteers.
And the gesture touched the hearts of both Mr Dubiel and people across the world.
'It restores your faith in humanity,' Mr Dubiel told KTVU. 'I’m just astounded. I couldn’t believe it when this fella knocked on my door and said he wanted to help for free. What a gesture.'

Mr Perez told ABC News that he initially believed the project would take a full day of work. But thanks to the number of people that turned up, the roof was completed in just four hours, he said.
'I think he [Mr Dubiel] was still kind of in awe or in shock since he's used to doing things by himself. He was definitely grateful and thanked everyone for all their hard work,' he added.

The volunteers later posed for a picture on the finished rooftop.
Mr Dubiel said he had previously decided not to pay professionals to fix his roof because he feared they would carry out the work as quickly as possible, 'without worrying about the quality put into it'.
He added that Mr Perez and the volunteers' efforts - carried out for free - had left him speechless.
'You see so much negativity and out here, this was positive - real positive - with no thought of return or reward, other than that of helping somebody,' said the retired systems test engineer.
Meanwhile, Mr Perez, who works as a specialist at the California State Board of Equalization and is married with two adult sons, said he was thankful by how far his Facebook post had reached.

'Just knowing how many times people shared it, it was very surprising how far it reached. The ones who took their time to come out and help a stranger was very nice,' he said.
'It was very uplifting to see that.'
This week, Mr Perez's friends were taking to Facebook to praise him for his thoughtful actions.
'It takes one person, one good thought, one good deed to change the world. David, nearly 52,000 likes!!!! You've inspired the masses. I'm honored to call you "friend",' Joanne Stevens wrote.
'I'm so glad that this story and your kindness spread like it did,' Lisa Rauch Kruger added.
