WASHINGTON DC—The United States military believes that Iran has fewer than 2,000 troops in Syria fighting alongside government forces, said a top US general Tuesday.
Reuters news agency quoted Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff that in addition to its troops in Syria Iran also has more than 1,000 soldiers in Iraq.
“I think there’s more than 1,000 that are on the ground in Iraq,” Dunford said. “In Syria, we think the numbers are probably something less than 2,000.”
Gen. Dunford said that the number of Iranian troops in Iraq has changed over time.
Hussein Salami, deputy commander in chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards told the media on Monday that his country has four levels of military presence in Syria: leadership, tactical, technical and operational.
According to Persian news reports, around 20 Iranian soldiers have been killed in Syria in less than a week, mainly near the city of Aleppo.
Deputy commander in chief Salami said that the cause of the rising death toll among his troops is their active participation in recent offensives.
Hundreds of Iranian soldiers and voluntary fighters have traveled to Syria in the last four years, calling themselves Defenders of the Zainab Shrine, an important Shiite religious site in Damascus.

Amish man sues government to buy firearm without photo ID

Amish man sues government to buy firearm without photo ID, claiming the requirement oppresses his religious freedom

  • Amish Andrew Hertzler was refused a gun without photo identification
  • He claims Amish view photographs violation of Second Commandment
  • Hertzler says requirement for photo ID oppresses his religious freedom
  • He's filed lawsuit against government for right to buy gun without a photo

An Amish man is suing the government for the right to buy a gun without a photo ID over claims his religious freedom is being violated.

Andrew Hertzler, from an Amish community in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, filed the lawsuit after an gun dealer refused to sell him a weapon without the correct identification.

He claims the federal law requiring photo ID clashes with his beliefs which prevent him from being photographed.

The lawsuit, filed on Friday in U.S. Middle District Court, says the requirement violates both his Second Amendment right to bear arms and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).

Yet a federal firearms license to deal in guns is available without a photograph, the suit continued according to the Washington Post.

In the Amish community, photographs are sometimes seen as a violation of the Second Commandment: 'Thou shalt not make unto thyself a graven image.'  The belief is at odds with federal firearm laws which require photo identification 'without exception.'

Hertzler was refused a gun back in June of this year when he took up the complaint with his senator, Pat Toomey, who forwarded it to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).  When the bureau refused to bend, he filed the suit.

'Mr. Hertzler confronts Hobson's choice: either forego his constitutional right to keep and bear arms in defense of himself and his home, or violate his religion,' the lawsuit read. Yet: 'The exercise of one Constitutional right cannot be contingent upon the violation or waiver of another.'

The Amish are strict Christians — memorably portrayed in the film Witness — who are famous for their simple living, plain clothes and reluctance to adopt 20th century conveniences, like cars and electric light. Their life ethic is hard work, community and prayer.

Men often have guns to help hunt for small game to supplement the meat for the family dinner table.  Many in the community shy away from photographs as they deem pictures too prideful; their capture of individuality a threat to community harmony.

Herzler's lawsuit argues that if he is forced to take a photograph to obtain a gun, his religious freedom will have been 'substantially burdened'.

Congress sought to avoid people's religious freedom being oppressed when they passed the RFRA in 1993.
The law has aided the Amish who have been fighting for exception from U.S. law on religious grounds for decades, including winning the right to abstain from compulsory education laws.

In this case, the lawsuit must prove that Hertzler's right to religious freedom outweigh's the government's safety requirement for photo ID.

In the Amish community, photographs are sometimes seen as a violation of the Second Commandment: 'Thou shalt not make unto thyself a graven image.' Freedom of religion has been a major sticking point for the government, no more so than in the case of gay marriage.

But last month, 'president' Barack Obama appeared to overrule the REFRA act when he said that religious freedom was not reason enough to deny any American their constitutional rights.

Speaking at a Democratic Party fundraiser, Obama said it's important to recognize that some parts of the country remain uncomfortable with same-sex marriage and that it will take time for them to catch up to the majority of Americans who support such unions.

But while Americans hold dear the constitutional right to practice their religion free from government interference, he said that right can't be used to deny constitutional rights to others.

'We affirm that we cherish our religious freedom and are profoundly respectful of religious traditions,' Obama said during remarks that were interrupted by repeated applause and cheers.

'But we also have to say clearly that our religious freedom doesn't grant us the freedom to deny our fellow Americans their constitutional rights.'

'And that even as we are respectful and accommodating genuine concerns and interests of religious institutions, we need to reject politicians who are supporting new forms of discrimination as a way to scare up votes.

'That's not how we move America forward,' he added. That was an apparent reference to some of the Republican presidential candidates.

In September, Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis spent several days in jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples despite a Supreme Court ruling that made same-sex unions legal nationwide. Davis said such marriages violate her Apostolic Christian faith.

Since being released, the Rowan County clerk has allowed marriage licenses to be issued, but only without her name and title. She also announced that she has left the Democratic Party and become a Republican.

AMERICANS RENOUNCING US CITIZENSHIP SOARS

AMERICANS RENOUNCING  US CITIZENSHIP SOARS TO YET ANOTHER RECORD HIGH

Submitted by Simon Black via SovereignMan.com,

1,426.  That’s the number of Americans who renounced their US citizenship last quarter according to the US government’s report just released this morning.

That’s a record high for a single quarter, easily beating the last record high set earlier this year, which beat the previous record high set in 2013.

This is clearly a trend on the rise, and it certainly raises the question: why?

What is it about the United States that drives so many citizens to leave?

Two main reasons:

The first group consists of people who just can’t take it anymore. Constant warfare, intimidation, and the steady erosion of freedom have pushed them to their breaking points.  They look around and think, “This is NOT the country that I grew up in.” And they renounce their citizenship in protest of a 'government' they no longer want to be associated with.

But that’s a small percentage of former citizens.

For the vast majority of people who renounce their US citizenship, it ultimately comes down to a single issue: taxes.   And there are three categories of tax-motivated renunciants.

The first is wealthy Americans who want to end Uncle Sam’s claim on their income once and for all.

Some famous people in this category who renounced US citizenship include Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, and singer Tina Turner.

It’s an expensive decision for this group, as the US government levies a nasty exit tax on their entire estate before they leave.

Now, this group is often held up as the villainous “tax traitor” who leaves America. But not everyone who renounces is a moustache-twirling billionaire.

There are far more people in the second group, what I call ‘Accidental Americans’These are people who, in many cases, have never lived in the US or potentially even never set foot in the US.  But simply by having, say, a US citizen mother or father, or being born in a place like the Panama Canal Zone, they became US citizens at birth.

There are countless people in this situation who lived their entire lives in peace. And then one day they received a letter from the US government demanding back taxes.

You see, the Land of the Free is almost unique in the entire world in that it has citizenship-based taxation.
In most civilized countries, the governments tax their citizens based on residency.

If you live in Canada, you pay taxes in Canada. But if you’re a Canadian citizen living in the Cayman Islands, you no longer pay taxes to Canada. Simple.

Not so in the United States. US citizens are obliged to file taxes wherever they go in the world.  And aside from an exclusion on the first $100,800 ($101,300 for 2016) of ‘earned income’, US citizens are also subject to pay tax on their worldwide income, regardless of where they live.

(Note ‘earned income’ does not include investment income. So if you trade stocks or FOREX, you generally pay taxes on all of your gains.)

So imagine you’re a Panamanian citizen who was born and raised in Panama, who just happens to have a father who’s a US citizen. That makes you a US citizen.
You trade stocks for a living, primarily on the London Stock Exchange.

The UK has no withholding tax on stock trading, so you pay no tax there. Panama is a territorial tax system, so you owe no tax there either.

But simply because your dad was a US citizen, the US 'government' has its hand out for its ‘fair share’ of your worldwide earnings.

This has clearly propelled a LOT of people to renounce their US citizenship.

But what’s really obscene is that before they let anyone renounce, the US government forces them to settle the tax bill. Only then are they ‘allowed’ to renounce.

The third category of people is Americans living overseas who have been hit by a barrage of offshore compliance laws.

72-year old Donna-Lane Nelson is a great example.
Ms. Nelson was forced into renouncing her citizenship after her local bank threatened to close her account back in 2011 because of her US citizenship.

She felt she had no choice. And the bank had no choice.
Back then Barack Obama had just signed the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, or FATCA, into law, pushing banks to dump all their American customers.

Ms. Nelson was one of them. And faced with the prospect of having to live without a bank account, she made a difficult choice and renounced.  As she explained to CNN, “After I did it, I was so emotional that I threw up outside the embassy.”

These people aren’t multi-billionaires. Many of them are retirees or expats living on modest incomes.
And in many respects they’re not even people who want to renounce. They’ve been pushed out by their own government.

According to the US State Department there are 7.6 million Americans living overseas.

Altogether they would comprise the 14th most populous state in the union, just behind Washington and ahead of Massachusetts.  They receive almost zero benefit from the US government. They don’t drive on US federal highways, and they aren’t ‘protected’ by Homeland Security.  Yet they still have to pay for it.

Even if they don’t owe any taxes, they have to file a bunch of silly disclosure forms each year to the USA private corporation (Vati-con/City of London/Rothschild) 'Treasury Department', sometimes having to spend a lot of money on accountants to file the forms.
Or, like Ms. Nelson, they get penalized for being American.

It’s understandable, though sickening, that these people are renouncing their citizenship. US citizenship has simply become too expensive to maintain.

Nearly 14,000 Americans have renounced their citizenship since FATCA was passed.

This is a number on the rise.

And it’s a sad reminder of the depths that governments sink to when they go broke, even to the point of chasing out their own citizens.

Hundreds of Refugees Vanish Without a Trace in Germany

HUNDREDS OF REFUGEES VANISH WITHOUT A TRACE IN GERMANY!!!

 Oct 28 2015

Roughly seven hundred of 4,000 asylum-seekers who had been initially accommodated in the German state of Lower Saxony have mysteriously disappeared, and because of administrative breakdowns, local authorities are clueless about who and where they are.

The staggering figures were revealed by local officials in the northwest German state by a survey conducted by the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ) newspaper.

Because many of the refugees hadn’t been registered yet, nothing is known about who they are or where they might have gone.
Some have speculated that the immigrants departed from the mostly rural province to either reunite with their relatives or to look for more attractive places to stay elsewhere in Germany or even abroad, according to the Local.

Others point to failures to provide adequate housing for refugees.

Moreover, refugees are often disoriented after arriving in Bavaria.

“Most of the time they don't know where they are.

We recently put up a map of Germany so they can orientate themselves,” Timo Frers, spokesman for the town of Delmenhorst, Lower Saxony, told the Local.

In Lingen, an hour and a half west of Delmenhorst, nearly half of the 212 immigrants initially placed in the local refugee center left and moved on to undisclosed locations soon after arriving, according to officials.
German officials slammed the current situation, stressing the need to get all people looking for asylum in Germany registered promptly once they’ve entered the country.

Angelika Jahn, a spokeswoman for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), said that non-compliance to that rule is “unacceptable.”

According to the Federal Ministry of Labor, some 300,000 immigrants arriving in Germany are expected to move on to other European states.
