“Skittles parties” may sound innocent, but they are far from it. They’re an alarming trend in which teens raid their parents’ medicine cabinets and dump the prescription and over-the-counter drugs they’ve gathered into a communal bowl. The teens then take handfuls of a random assortment of pills, often with alcohol, to get high.

Several teens have overdosed after playing Russian roulette with pills at these parties, which are also known as “pharming parties.” 

Last month, five high school students in Marin County, California, overdosed after an apparent “Skittles party” and were taken to the hospital.

 

According to KTVU, the students are all okay. But Mitchell Maxwell, a teen in Knoxville, Tennessee, wasn’t so lucky. He died from a drug overdose after a “Skittles party” in 2013, just days before he was supposed to head off to college.

“You worry more about drinking and driving rather than a party with prescription drugs,” his father, Austin Maxwell, told WVLT. “It’s a huge problem. There has to be more education because it’s just as dangerous as anything else out there.”

A new report on teen substance misuse by Trust for America’s Health, a nonprofit organization dedicated to disease prevention, shows that drug misuse is a growing problem. The report revealed that drug overdose death rates among 12- to 25-year-olds have risen dramatically in most states over the past 15 years. Overdose death rates have more than doubled in 18 states, more than tripled in 12 states, and quadrupled in five states. The rates were the highest in West Virginia and lowest in North Dakota.

Teens and young adults are gambling with their lives at “Skittles parties.” “There are tremendous risks,” Sharon Levy, M.D., director of the adolescent substance abuse program at Boston Children’s Hospital and assistant professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, tells Yahoo Parenting. “Typically, teens do not know what they’re taking — they might find pain medication, sedatives, or barbiturates. These are highly-controlled medications. Taking sedatives [alone] can risk an overdose. By mixing them, you vastly increase your risk of overdosing. You can stop breathing or have your heart stop.”

Levy points out that teens may mistakenly think these drugs are safer or less addictive than street drugs because they’ve been prescribed by a doctor. “They’ll assume because it’s a pharmaceutical product that it doesn’t have the same risks,” says Levy. “They will assume that they’re safe, and that’s just wrong. These medications have a very high abuse potential. People can absolutely become addicted to them.”

To keep prescription drugs away from teens, both Maxwell and Levy recommend that parents put the medications in a secure place. “If the dad had a knee replacement and there are whole bunch of drugs in the medicine cabinet, they need to be in a place that’s not easily accessible,” Levy says.

Levy also recommends that parents keep track of the number of pills in the bottle, and when you’re done taking the prescription, discard any remaining pills. The FDA has a list of medications that are safe to flush, or you can return pills to the issuing pharmacy.

“People hang onto the leftover pills thinking, “Maybe I’ll need it again so I’ll just save it,’” notes Levy. “That’s a big mistake because kids can get into it. Even if you think your kid would never do it, you don’t know what their friends might do. A medicine cabinet is an exposed place, and it wouldn’t be hard for someone to take them.”

Just hours after a Russian warplane was shot down by Turkish forces while on mission in the skies over Syria, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke out in anger against Turkey’s actions. 

 

A day after meeting with the Ayatollah in Tehran, Iran, Putin was meeting with King Abdullah of Jordan in Moscow to discuss how they could work together to fight Islamic terrorism. 

 

During their meeting before the press, Putin had some hard words for the government and military of Turkey. 

 

Thank you for your condolences, including in relation to the downing of the military jet today.  This goes beyond the framework of the regular fight against terrorism. Certainly, our young military men are fighting terrorism, sacrificing their own lives, but today's loss is related. The stab in our back by the associates of terrorism. We can not find another wording to what happened today. Our plane was shot down over the Syrian territory. The air-to-air missile came from an F-16 Turkish military.  It fell in the Syrian territory, four kilometers from the Turkish border. It was at an altitude of 6,000 meters, one kilometer away from the Turkish border when it was hit.  In any case, our pilot and our plane never threatened the Republic of Turkey.  In any way, this was an obvious fact: They conducted an operation to fight ISIS in northern Latakia.

 

I’d be willing to bet someone in Turkey is in a lot of trouble right about now.

If I were to ask you who the top racist in America is, who would you name? I know a number of you would say Barack Obama but, in my opinion, no one is more racist than Al Sharpton. Worse yet is that he earns a six figure salary for his racism.

Sharpton founded the National Action Network which is nothing more than a platform for his racist rants and actions. According to their website:

“National Action Network is one of the leading civil rights organizations in the Nation with chapters throughout the entire United States. Founded in 1991 by Reverend Al Sharpton, NAN works within the spirit and tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to promote a modern civil rights agenda that includes the fight for one standard of justice, decency and equal opportunities for all people regardless of race, religion, nationality or gender.”

‘Regardless of race’? Oh really? I’ve seen numerous incidents where Sharpton has gone out of his way to persecute whites for non-existent race crimes.

I recall an incident over 20 years ago where a white retail manager helped his security guard capture and detain a black shoplifter. It took three men to hold the shoplifter down, waiting for the police to arrive. Just prior to the arrival of the police, the shoplifter passed out and later died. An autopsy revealed that the shoplifter died from an overdose of speed. 

But that didn’t satisfy black activists and within two days, Sharpton arrived in Phoenix and led a protest demanding that the store manager face murder charges. After much persuasion, the charges were filed against the store manage and he was summarily arrested. It took two years before his case went to trial. 

During that two year period, he was fired from his job, lost his home and his wife divorced him. Eventually he was acquitted and declared innocent, but by that time, his entire life, career and family had been destroyed, all because Sharpton refused to accept the truth and made the issue one of race.

If you recall, Sharpton did the same thing in Ferguson when he again ignored the facts and insisted that Officer Darren Wilson be charged with murder for shooting Michael Brown to death. It didn’t matter to Sharpton that Brown was physically assaulting Wilson, shattering his eye socket in the process. It didn’t matter that Brown was a thug who just robbed a store and refused to comply with police orders to stop. All Sharpton saw was a white man killing a black man. Sharpton didn’t stop even after Wilson had to leave the Ferguson Police Department.

These are only two of many similar incidents where Sharpton tries to make everything a racial issue. Yet, I’ve never seen or heard of Sharpton doing the same thing when a black person murders a white person. If the statement on his website is true, then he should react the same way when it’s black on white crime, but his hypocrisy shines bright when he fails to live by his own statement of ‘regardless of race.’

So how much does Sharpton earn for keeping the fires of racial hatred burning bright?  In 2013, Al Sharpton’s reported pay from NAN was $241,545.

In 2014, Sharpton had Barack Obama, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and then US Attorney General Eric Holder, speak at the NAN 2014 Conference, the largest fund raising event for the racist organization.

Then Sharpton held a huge bash for his 60^th birthday in 2014. He raised $1 million at the party. The programs handed out at the party contained advertisements for AT&T, Walmart, Verizon, McDonald’s, GE Asset Management and real estate developer Forest City Ratner.

All told, NAN reported a record $6.9 million in donations in 2014, exceeding 2013’s donations by over $2 million. For his efforts, Sharpton’s salary went from $241,544 in 2013 to $412,644 in 2014, equating to a 71% increase in pay for being a racist. He also received a bonus of $64,400 in 2014. 

That’s a lot of money just for promoting racial hatred when he claims to be promoting peace. And what’s really sad is that he has the support of influential politicians and major corporations.

As long as people like Al Sharpton exist, there will also be a racial divide in America. After all, if there were no racial issues in America, Sharpton would have to get a real job to support himself and he’s not about to let that happen.

What are children told about Thanksgiving in our nation’s government (public) schools?  

 

Who or what are they thanking? 

 

Ancient fish that evolutionists claim are our grandmothers? 

 

“Grandmother Fish is the first book to teach evolution to preschoolers.” There is no god in the world of evolution. Are children to thank the molecules that evolved from “goo to you”?

 

Grove City College Professor Paul Kengor recalls a conversation he “recently had with a friend who works in the children’s section at Barnes & Noble” and “regularly briefs [him] on the latest political correctness and rank secularism pervading today’s books.”

She told him that in all the books on Thanksgiving, only one mentioned that thanks was given to God.

Kengor asked her, “What are they giving thanks to?”

“They’re just thankful,” she said vaguely. “They’re simply thankful.”

“Thankful for what?” Kengor asked.

She again emphasized: “They’re just thankful.”

If your children go to a public school, there’s a good chance that they won’t be told why Thanksgiving is celebrated.

Thanksgiving celebrations go back to the colonial era. In addition, there were national civil pronouncements of thanksgiving with God as the object of thanks.



On Thursday, September 24, 1789, the first House of Representatives voted to recommend the First Amendment of the newly drafted Constitution to the states for ratification. The next day, Congressman Elias Boudinot from New Jersey, proposed that the House and Senate jointly request of President Washington to proclaim a day of thanksgiving for “the many signal favors of Almighty God.”

Boudinot said that he “could not think of letting the session pass over without offering an opportunity to all the citizens of the United States of joining, with one voice, in returning to Almighty God their sincere thanks for the many blessings he had poured down upon them.”1

George Washington issued a national thanksgiving proclamation on October 3, 1789.

Thanksgiving was joined with a spirit of repentance.

Beginning with Lincoln, United States’ Presidents proclaimed that the last Thursday in November would be set aside for a National Day of Thanksgiving. 

Franklin D. Roosevelt changed the celebration to the third Thursday in November “to give more shopping time between Thanksgiving and Christmas.”2 Ever since this pragmatic and commercial approach to Thanksgiving was promoted, its original meaning has steadily been lost.


The erosion of the original intent of Thanksgiving as it was practiced by the colonists and sanctioned by presidents and Congress, can best be illustrated by the way some textbooks handle the subject. 

 

One elementary school social studies book has thirty pages of material “on the Pilgrims, including the first Thanksgiving. But there is not one word (or image) that referred to religion as even a part of the Pilgrims’ life. One mother whose son is in a class using this book wrote . . . that he came home and told her that ‘Thanksgiving was when the Pilgrims gave thanks to the Indians.’ 

 

The mother called the principal of this suburban New York City school to point out that Thanksgiving was when the Pilgrims thanked God. The principal responded by saying ‘that was her opinion’ — the schools could only teach what was in the books!”3



There is no doubt that these early Christian settlers thanked the Indians for their generosity in supplying venison to supplement the Pilgrims’ meager Thanksgiving rations of parsnips, carrots, turnips, onions, radishes, and beets from their household gardens.

As the historical record shows, however, thanksgiving was ultimately made to the God of the Bible. “Governor Bradford, with one eye on divine Providence, proclaimed a day of thanksgiving to God, and with the other eye on the local political situation, extended an invitation to neighboring Indians to share in the harvest feast. . . . 

This ‘first Thanksgiving’ was a feast called to suit the needs of the hour, which were to celebrate the harvest, thank the Lord for His goodness, and regale and impress the Indians.”4

Early celebrations of thanksgiving were expressions of deep gratitude to God for life itself. Many who partook of the bounty from God’s creation set before them were thankful just to be alive. How times have changed in America.

Now public school children are taught to thank the government for everything.

THE US IN A CONSTANT STATE OF 'EMERGENCY'

I was looking for information on Executive Orders to find out if there is a remedy to them.  As usual what I thought would be simple became a maize of complications.  

I was side-tracked over to another facet of the issue. Actually, it should be simple, if only our 'government' was working properly.  But it isn't ...and you know it isn't.  

I've been asking myself how the occupants of the White House are getting away with Executive Orders and why these orders are never challenged.  I think I stumbled upon the answer. 

 

According to Wikipedia, in 1976 a National Emergencies Act was passed to stop the possibility of never ending states of emergency.  The Act supposedly set a limit of two years on any state of emergency declared by the POTUS. This also gave Congress the ability to require the POTUS to go through formalities to declare a National Emergency.  Unfortunately, it did nothing to stop any POTUS from continuing a never ending state of emergency.  It is an ultimate power grab by the Executive Branch.  

Here is the bad news:

The United States has been in a state of national emergency continuously for over 30 years, since the Carter administration invoked it premised on the "situation in Iran".

In November 2012, 'president' Barack Obama informed Congress that the State of National Emergency in effect since November 14, 1979 will be extended another year.

The National Emergencies Act grants various powers to the 'president' during times of emergency, and was intended to prevent a 'president' from declaring a 'state of emergency' of indefinite duration.

So all that has to happen to keep the Executive Branch on "Operation Overreach" is a little statement from the POTUS that he extends the State of National Emergency for one more year.  How hard is that?  

Every year, when the deadline is up, the POTUS just renews ..sort of like your magazine subscriptions.  No one stops him.  Obviously the National Emergencies Act doesn't do anything to prevent the constant, never ending state of emergency in the U.S.  

Additionally, Wikipedia says that this National Emergencies Act was to prevent the Executive Branch from going over the limits when declaring rights suspended. It was due in part to concern that a declaration of "emergency" for one purpose should not invoke every possible executive emergency power that Congress in 1976 passed the National Emergencies Act. 

Among other provisions, this act requires the 'president' to declare formally a national emergency and to specify the statutory authorities to be used under such a declaration. Some how, I don't think that Act had any effect on anything...but I guess someone tried to rein in the POTUS with that Act. 

Linked on that Wikipedia page is a reference to the Reichstag Fire Decree in 1933 in Germany, a decree which gave Hitler ultimate powers without consent from the Reichstag (the German version of a parliament). 

The Reichstag Fire Decree (German: Reichstagsbrandverordnung) is the common name of the Decree of the Reich President for the Protection of People and State (German: Verordnung des Reichspräsidenten zum Schutz von Volk und Staat) issued by German
President Paul von Hindenburg in direct response to the Reichstag fire of 27 February 1933.

The decree nullified many of the key civil liberties of German citizens.

With Nazis in powerful positions in the German government, the decree was used as the legal basis of imprisonment of anyone considered to be opponents of the Nazis, and to suppress publications not considered "friendly" to the Nazi cause.  (Sound familiar for here in the united States?!)

The decree is considered by historians to be one of the key steps in the establishment of a one- party Nazi state in Germany.  (Same is happening right now in the united States.)

As I read through the Reichstag event, and that last sentence about "one party Nazi state," I thought about the 'presidents' from both parties in the U.S. who have continued this emergency power for themselves.  

Here, it doesn't seem to matter which party is in control. They are both intent on concentrating that power into the Executive Branch.  

Why do we even have a Congress?  Is it all window dressing?  As far as I can see lately, Congress doesn't do anything much other than give cover to the Executive Branch. They take the cues from the White House and then fund laws and regulatory agencies to choke off freedoms and rights.   

As Obama said recently, "If they won't do it, I will." What gave him that idea?  The State of  National Emergency, constant and never ending.  

Congress is impotent.  I think they have rendered themselves impotent.  I don't know why they even show up ...except of course to get the benefits and the ego massages. 

Well, that's my revelation for today, folks.  Constant and never ending state of emergency...by design.  

No wonder we are all worn out.  You can't stay in a high state of emergency all of the time without a break.  

Even the most hardened, trained soldiers have to have R&R sometimes.  But we aren't getting that break.   

Our rights and freedoms are under attack constantly, and this explains, at least partially, why.

Author Jim Fetzer's 425-page book Nobody Died at Sandy Hook had been reportedly removed from online bookstore Amazon. 

"The book is too good," an intelligence expert had  allegedly told Fetzer. "It has the potential to bring down the Obama administration. They are going to do everything that they can to suppress it–so don't be surprised when it happens!"
 
Fetzer and his co-editor Mike Palecek received the following notification from CreateSpace, the company that provides publishing for Amazon: 

"What could be more telling than that they have taken the book down but cannot explain the reasons for suppressing it, which of course they had to have had in advance of taking it down," Fetzer says. "Just how dumb are we all supposed to be?"

What's most interesting is the book was up for a short time and sold around 500 copies. It even received several ratings from both actual purchasers and those with an opinion about what they had not read. 

Additionally, Amazon still has Fetzer and Palecek's book And I suppose we didn't go to the moon, either?: The Beatles, the Holocaust, and other mass illusions (Save the World, Resist the Empire). Isn't that just as controversial?

Amazon also carries a variety of titles that put forth various theories concerning Sandy Hook, The Moon Landing and, of course, the JFK assassination, so it does make one wonder why this particular book was targeted. 

What is the actual violation of the guidelines? 

I contacted CreateSpace for a comment, and as of the writing of this article, they have not provided a response. 

On the opposite end of the conversation, is a trained investigator named Dr. Leland Benton, whose book Was Sandy Hook a Hoax?: Sandy Hook Hoax Allegations are Disturbing! (Forensic Investigation) (Volume 1) is also posted at Amazon. 

Dr. Benton writes, "Recent allegations and a plethora of YouTube videos have arisen that the events at Sandy Hook are all a hoax. On the surface, this is quite disturbing to me for two reasons. If the allegations are true then we as a nation are confronting another serious problem; and if they are false, then this is a very cruel burden to place on the grieving families. 

As a trained investigator, I will look dispassionately at both sides and allow my readers to decide for themselves. I was taught that the best lie is always sandwiched between two truths. On the surface, what is to be gained if the allegations prove to be true? And conversely, what is to be gained if the allegations prove to be false? Where is the winner in all of this?"

Personally, I think these are good questions to ask. Who does benefit in the end? One might ask that when one looks back to history how Adolf Hitler burned his own Reichstag and wonder if our own government is not engaged in similar activity, especially a government that used the incident to immediately push for a national attack upon the rights of its citizens.

"The book delegitimizes the 'government' of the United States, in particular, the Obama administration, which cannot withstand the exposure of its techniques of disinformation," Fetzer wrote concerning his allegations in the book. "Confronted with this rude development, Mike and I decided to make the book available to the public for free." 

While I'm not convinced of every assertion of many of the theories surrounding Sandy Hook, one does have to confess that there are several anomalies that have not been addressed properly. That doesn't mean that no one died or that it didn't take place. It just means there are anomalies, and no one should be afraid to ask questions and government shouldn't be afraid to be transparent with its people and answer those questions. 

On the other hand, it doesn't disprove the assertion of those who remain unconvinced that Sandy Hook was nothing more than a false flag event to push a gun control agenda.

Windows 10 seems to be Microsoft's deliberate attempt at creating the most intrusive operating system ever. If that is the goal, the software giant from Redmond, Washington, is succeeding. 

It seems that every new update brings the newest iteration of Windows increasingly closer to giving Microsoft total control over the way users can operate their own computers. The most recent update makes that abundantly clear.

Malware is defined by The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, 4th edition as:

Malicious computer software that interferes with normal computer functions or sends personal data about the user to unauthorized parties over the Internet.

While computer users typically think of that definition applying to viruses, it unfortunately fits Windows 10 — and increasingly Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 — very well. What else do you call an operating system that reports back to its developers supplying them with personally identifiable information about you including 
your name
e-mail address
postal address
phone number
passwords
password hints
age 
gender 
browsing history
address book
calendar
contents of your e-mails
access to all your files 
including pictures
videos
documents
anything else stored on your hard drive

What about an operating system that, while doing all that, hides updates from you,  will not provide you information about them, and  installs them even when you have told it not to? 

What about that same operating system being designed in such a way that you cannot even turn off these settings?

If none of that rises to the level of defining Windows 10 (and, because of updates, Windows 7, 8, and 8.1) as malware, the most recent news certainly does. 

The New American has previously reported on the outrageous Microsoft Services Agreement and accompanying documents that must be agreed to before any Microsoft product or service can be used. 

We explained:

Few will ever read the terms of these documents since they span some 40,000 words and would run 110 pages if printed. As is to be expected, most of the terms are written in legalese and are not overly easy to understand. 

There are some parts of the terms that users need to be aware of, though, because agreeing to them grants Microsoft the right to read, save, and share anything stored on or accessed using any computer running Microsoft Windows as well as any computer using Microsoft products or services.

The Microsoft Services Agreement also gives the software empire permission to not only install whatever software it chooses on your computer, but also to delete whatever software it chooses from your computer. 

Microsoft announced its Windows 10 November update with great fanfare. What the company did not tell users was that the update would give Microsoft the ability to reach into their computers and remove software that the company deemed either unstable (based on its own criteria) or pirated (based on its own assumptions). Just whose computer is it, anyway?
 
Venture Beat reports that, after receiving the update, many users complained that software they had installed before the update was deleted and they were notified that it was "not supported." When they simply reinstalled the software, it worked just as it had before. So far the deletion of programs has been mostly limited to "hardware monitoring tools CPU-Z and Speccy as well as the AMD Catalyst Control Center for tweaking your Radeon graphics cards," according to Venture Beat. 

So, it looks as if it impacts only users of higher-end computers such as those used for gaming. But that does not mean it will not be coming soon to a workstation near you.

As Venture Beat reported:

The company has previously explained to GamesBeat that it would remove software that it considers dangerous. That includes not just programs that will cause issues with Windows 10 but potentially apps that may steal your information or infect your system. That language is in Microsoft's terms of service.

"The Microsoft Services Agreement allows Microsoft to change or discontinue certain apps or content where we deem your security is at risk," a Microsoft spokesperson told GamesBeat in August. "Software that is pirated or botted places the safety and security of our customers at risk, including a higher risk of malware, fraud, public exposure of personal information, and poor performance or feature malfunction. 

We remain committed to protecting our customers from the risks of non-genuine software and protecting the intellectual property of developers of all types of content."

Of course none of this answers why valid software packages were removed from user's computers or why — if the programs were "not supported" — the users were able to reinstall them without problem.

All the recent heavy-handedness from Microsoft has many computer users seeking other operating systems. Many are looking to Apple and the Mac OS. 

Others who want more freedom and control over their computers are looking increasingly to one of the many distributions of Linux.

As this writer noted last year, the best way to protect your systems against surveillance by both overreaching governments and nosy corporations is to replace Windows with Linux and apply several software tools that are both free and freely available. 

Microsoft's new policies are making it increasingly easy to convince people to do just that.

Homeschool boy in government custody 7 YEARS

 

Parents fight officials in 'last hope' to see own son,                                                                      now 14

When Domenic Johansson was seven years old, he and his parents, Christer and Annie, were moving from their home in Sweden to his mother’s native India. They actually were seated aboard the jet waiting to take off.

Then Swedish police, dispatched by social workers infuriated over the family’s homeschooling, boarded the airliner, took Domenic by force and put him in the custody of the nation’s social services agency.  He’s been there since.   And he hasn’t even seen his parents since 2010, after social workers torpedoed what had been sporadic and supervised times together. (How many times has this child been raped?  Abused?  Lied to about his parents?)

Now that nation’s Supreme Court is being asked to review what has been described as a “vicious” attack on the family, and supporters of the Johanssons say the rest of the world can chime in.

Officials with the Home School Legal Defense Association have confirmed that a lawyer working with the Johanssons is filing an appeal with the Swedish Supreme Court, aided by both the HSLDA and the international Alliance Defending Freedom.

They say those who are interested in justice in the case can contribute by sending a message to the court regarding case O-4373-15 with the request that the judges grant the family’s appeal.

Contact information for the court and other details have been posted online by the HSLDA.

The organization suggests that people point out to the court that “The United Nations Declaration on Human Rights recognizes the family as the fundamental group unit of society and entitled to protection of (and from) the state.”

“Now we are asking for your help in what may be their last hope and appeal to ever be reunited with their son,” HSLDA said in a new report on the situation.

HSLDA outlined the history of the case: Social workers enraged by homeschooling, which was legal in Sweden at the time, used police to abduct the little boy, and then added claims of issues with his vaccinations and teeth to the complaint. Then social workers, aided by the local courts, simply kept Domenic.

“Imagine – living just miles from your child but being prevented by government authorities from seeing him at all – for years,” HSLDA said. “This is the tragic story of the Johansson family who were homeschooling in Sweden when they decided to move to India, Annie Johansson’s home country. The three of them were seated on a jetliner in June 2009 when, moments before takeoff, police and social workers boarded the plane and seized Domenic.”

The HSLDA said the initial explanation was the family’s homeschooling.

“Later they [officials] said the parents had neglected Domenic by failing to keep his vaccinations up to date and to have cavities in his teeth,” HSLDA said. (BS)

After years of court fights, in December 2012, the courts transferred the custody rights for Domenic to the state, and the European Court of Human Rights has rejected appeals submitted to its officials. (Sounds just like here in the States - same criminal court system, same criminal 'government' system - NWO owners and we the people worldwide are slaves from our birth certificates)

Domenic’s parents now have left the “tenuous thread of hope” with a petition filed by Ruby Harrold-Claesson, a human rights attorney and chief of the Nordic Committee for Human Rights.

Her appeal is to the Swedish Supreme Court.

“This is a tragic case. Unfortunately, it’s not the only one I’ve dealt with in Sweden, but it is very tragic,” she told HSLDA. “Our previous victory in a lower court was so diametrically opposed to the appeals court’s ruling that this appeal should be heard. The Swedish court culture is vicious to families who are caught in it. I’m doing all I can for this family, but it is very difficult.”

“The Johansson case represents every parent’s worst nightmare,” said Mike Donnelly, the head of HSLDA’s global outreach. “Domenic should have been returned to his parents years ago, but the Swedish social services machine is pitiless and unrelenting. I can’t even imagine the pain and suffering this family has endured. HSLDA and our allies at ADF are committed to helping this family, but the outcome is doubtful absent a miracle.

“Even if we win, the damage done to this family by the Swedish state is unimaginable. We need our friends to pray and show solidarity with the Johanssons as we try to get the attention of the Swedish court,” he said.

A recent ruling from the international human rights body said, “The applicants had failed in their care of [Domenic], both physical and psychological."  It claimed Domenic “had not been allowed to go to school” and was “isolated.”

But WND reported legal experts argue Swedish officials violated multiple human rights enshrined in international treaties to which the Swedish government is a party: the right of parents to direct the education of their children, family life, due process, travel and more.

“The seizure of the child without a valid court order, from a plane he was lawfully entitled to be on, the detention by the state in foster care with virtually zero contact with his family and finally the termination of parental rights is a clear violation of international human rights standards,” HSLDA founder and Chairman Michael Farris, who holds a master of law degree in public international law from the University of London, said earlier.

Swedish officials several times have declined to respond to WND questions.

When the family tried to leave Sweden in 2009 for India, the mother’s homeland, armed police stormed the plane and abducted young Domenic without a warrant or court order.  Numerous experts and attorneys have described the incident as a brazen example of “state-napping.”

When one court decision was released in Sweden in favor of the parents, government officials simply kept Domenic in custody until they were able to get it reversed.

Legal experts from around the world have told WND that the pretexts cited to seize Domenic do not stand up to scrutiny, especially because homeschooling was legal in Sweden at the time, and the right to homeschool is guaranteed under multiple human rights treaties.

“No legitimate justification has ever been produced to defend the seizure or the ongoing custody of the boy,” HSLDA said.

As WND has been reporting for years, the Johansson family is hardly alone in battling Swedish authorities for the right to homeschool.  Dozens of families have already fled abroad, including Jonas Himmelstrand, the chief of the Swedish Homeschooling Association, ROHUS, who fled to Finland with his wife and children.
