I came downstairs this morning to survey the wreck of my house.  Months of ceaseless work and frequent travels have taken their toll: dust everywhere (even some cobwebs!), tall stacks of paperwork waiting for correspondence and filing, more stacks of mail and dispatches, 53 phone calls to return, 53,000 emails but-who-is-counting, and somewhere, somehow, I am supposed to have a life, keep my housekeeping in order, be present for my family and my community, pay the bills, and last but not least, create a Christmas out of this chaos..... 

Slumping down on the last chair in the house that was not piled high with packages or mail or abandoned winter coats and sipping my coffee gratefully, my eyes fell on two small books, almost booklets, isolated and alone on the one bare expanse of gleaming table top left: The New Testament and The Constitution for the united States of America.  

They seemed so small, so tiny laying there in a pool of winter sunshine. 

Yet, a century and a half ago, these were the foundations of every American's education.  The most slovenly wretch in the most impoverished circumstance had access to these two slim volumes, and in them, he had the essence of all education needed to live a good and self-respecting life.  

You can do without advanced algebra in most professions, and without calculus, too.  You can circumscribe the globe from a Biblical atlas.  And with the actual Constitution, you can overthrow any throne.  Is this not power enough for any man?  

By knowing the social obligations and having a code of ethics to rely on, a man and his country can flourish in peace--- and both of these small books provide that certainty and code.  They tell us who we are and who we are called to be.  They set forth the parameters of life and decency, of self-respect and respect for others. 

If we had no other education now, I had to stop---- if we learned no other useful thing in all our days in school, would we not be better off than we are now, when we are lost and groping for any common understanding?  

My home in Alaska is built like a Viking Hall, with one large room, and other rooms branching off it, here a pantry, there a bathroom, there a stairway going to the second story, or down to the basement.... or out to the Arctic Entry that buffers the indoors from the cold. 

The adornments are simple and useful in the Nordic way, faintly tinged with things Norwegian and Swedish and German.  Old silver spoons.  Hand-carved chairs made of oak and maple.  Oil paintings of snow-capped mountains.  Tall bookcases filled with books.  A central fire in a well-worn stove with an open glass front where the flames are visible, and the dogs and cat love to loll away their winter nights content to know that the family is here and all together. 

Always, though I didn't plan it that way, there is a faint smell of cinnamon and apples and coffee in the kitchen, and a smell of lavender or roses or balsam fir depending on the season of the year wafting around the rest of the household.  It is, I think, even in its state of disrepair and chaos, a blessed and peaceful place, where the stress of modern life has been held at bay.  

My husband calls it my "magic bubble", as if I waved my hand and created my own world.  

This time of year, there are bouquets of greenery and fresh flowers and tall white candles and outside, there is snow and white birches and tall dark spruce trees as far as the eye can see into the woods.  This afternoon as we got started on the clearing and cleaning rituals, I saw a yearling moose, soft dark brown, his velvet muzzle raised up scenting us and no doubt wondering about the brightly lit windows. 

Scrub-a-dub-dub, I plodded merrily along, and the old vacuum cleaner roared to life and the broom and the dust mop and a roll of paper towels began to work their own magic. 

The paper tide was turned and recouped in the office, and my precious little things of Christmas Past, a tiny framed picture of an angel, a crystal star wandering toward Bethlehem and scattering a thousand tiny rainbows in its wake, a mysteriously luminous ivory statue of Mary and her baby, all came forth from their tissue paper and boxes and settled once more in their places like old familiar dinner guests.  

And the Spirit of the Season, gainsay it as some people will, came into the old neglected house with its plain-spoken ways, and transformed it into something magical.  Though there is winter all around, dark and snowy and deep, in this house there is warmth and beauty and spring.  

I smiled at the two pairs of boots standing side by side on the doormat.  Father and son.  Just as it always was and is and should be.  I smiled at the two dogs settled at the feet of their respective men, and at the cat, curled up in a large, warm, fluffy ball waiting for me to put the pie in the oven and come join her in front of the fire. 

It has been a hard year for many of us, and yet, simple as this is, old-fashioned as this is, it's Christmas after all.  

Please join me in being grateful for all the blessings we have, for what we have been able to give, for all that we have been able to learn this past year, for the fellowship of those who travel with us on this road, for the rich heritage that belongs to each of us, for the joy of being present right now.  

Say a prayer of gratitude and then, a prayer for all our brothers and sisters who have suffered foreclosure and prison and injuries of all sorts as a result of a government gone mad, and then, give thanks again for the changes we have seen and the efforts being made to make America great again.  

May all our efforts prosper and come to fruition in the New Year.  Let the Thousand Years of Peace begin.  May the blessings we are heir to rest upon us. May the joy taking root in our hearts last forever.

Mysterious bright light over Palm Springs is from SpaceX rocket launch

A flash of bright light over Palm Springs had social media buzzing Friday evening, but don't fret, it's not an alien attack. 

All indications are that the light is coming from the launch of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that took off from Vandenberg Air Force Base near Santa Barbara. 

Many in the desert took to Facebook and Twitter to show images of the bright white light that illuminated the clouds over the San Jacinto Mountains. 

SpaceX began tweeting around 5 p.m. about the launch, which was aired lived on their website. Falcon 9 launched around 5:30 p.m., according to tweets from the SpaceX Twitter account.

Around 5:45 p.m., the engine was cutoff and the stage separation was confirmed and the second stage engine burn was underway.

Less than 10 minutes after that, the second stage engines cutoff and the satellites are now in coast phase.

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket will deliver 10 satellites to low-Earth orbit for Iridium, a company focused on data satellite communications, according to a SpaceX press release.

This launch is the fourth set of 10 satellites out of 75 total satelites that will form Iridium’s “next generation global satellite constellation,” called Iridium NEXT.

The satellites will be deployed from the rocket about an hour after the initial launch.

SpaceX will not attempt to recover Falcon 9’s first stage of the rocket after launch.

SpaceX confirmed via their Twitter account that the launch was successful. Eva Behrend, SpaceX spokeswoman, said the company would not be issuing any other statements about the launch aside from what was posted on Twitter.

Iridium NEXT plans to replace the world’s largest commercial satellite network of low-Earth orbit satellites for a “tech upgrade.”

Iridium is a communications company that hopes to deliver “fast speeds and higher throughputs for…aviation, maritime, Internet of Things, terrestrial and government organizations,” according to the press release.

The company hopes to improve aircraft tracking and surveillance systems. When the full satellite system is completed, Iridium hopes that air traffic control companies and aircraft operators will purchase the service which will provide real-time, global visibility of aircrafts that are equipped with automatic dependent surveillance – broadcast technologies.  

The webcast can be found at www.spacex.com/webcast. According to the SpaceX Twitter account, the webcast will be back around 6:15 p.m. for the second stage engine restart and deployment of 10 satellites.

Washington (AFP) - President Donald Trump on Friday signed into law a sweeping overhaul of the US tax code, two days after the Republican plan was adopted by Congress in a major political victory.

Making good on a vow to push through the tax cuts before Christmas, Trump endorsed the bill shortly before departing for a year-end break at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, pulling forward a formal signing initially planned for January.

"I watched the news this morning and they were all saying, will he keep his promise, will he sign it by Christmas?" Trump told reporters gathered in the Oval Office.

"And I called downstairs and said 'Get it ready, we have to sign it now.'"

Trump this week celebrated his first major legislative victory since taking office a year ago as Congress passed the $1.5 trillion overhaul, set to impact every corner of the economy through dramatic tax cuts for corporations and temporary reductions for individuals.

"As you know, $3.2 trillion in tax cuts for American families," Trump said. "And they're going to start to see that because we're signing today."

He added that "we're going to bring back probably $4 trillion from overseas," and said corporations "are literally going wild over" the prospect.

"This is something that Republicans wanted for years and Democrats wanted for years and yet it never got done. Now it's being done."

Opposition Democrats have branded the tax plan a giveaway to the wealthiest that risks blowing a hole in the national debt, and a CNN poll showed that 55 percent of Americans oppose the tax reform.

But House Speaker Paul Ryan thinks they will be won over once they start to reap the benefits. He proclaimed immediately after Trump's signing: "The biggest tax reform in a generation is now the law of the land.

"As promised, the American people will begin the new year with a new tax code."

- 'Working in Florida' -

Trump -- who did not hold a traditional year-end news conference before departing Washington -- seized on the occasion to speak at length to reporters, enumerating the achievements of his first year in office.

"We have more legislative victories than any other president," he said -- an assertion not supported by facts. He has signed into law fewer than 100, mostly minor, pieces of legislation, fewer than his nine predecessors according to the GovTrack website.

"This is the capper, because this is again the biggest tax cut, the biggest reform of all time," he said, while vowing that infrastructure reform would be a domestic priority for 2018.

Trump left the White House right after the signing, for what he told reporters would be a working holiday.

"We'll be working in Florida, I'll be working very hard during that Christmas because we have many things we're talking about, including North Korea, including a lot of things happening in the Middle East as you know."

The US leader also signed into law a short-term funding bill that will keep the federal government running until January 19, averting a looming shutdown.

The temporary funding extension gives more time to lawmakers from both parties to reach an agreement on funding for the remainder of the 2018 fiscal year, which ends September 30.

The bill adopted by Congress on Thursday also unlocks four billion dollars to build a new missile base in Alaska, and to repair US Navy ships damaged in recent accidents.

9th Circuit rules against Trump Travel Order No. 3

But stays its ruling pending Supreme Court review.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has ruled against President Trump’s Third Travel Order on virtually the same grounds it blocked a March iteration of the order.

Recycling their (vacated) opinion from June, the same three Clinton-appointed judges, Michael D. Hawkins, Ronald M. Gould and Richard A. Paez, again held—unanimously—that the restrictions exceed the president’s statutory authority under the Immigration and Nationality Act. In doing so, they mostly upheld an injunction issued by the same Hawaii judge who blocked the March executive order.
This Third Travel Order, unveiled as a presidential proclamation in September, prohibits entry of nationals—to varying degrees—from Syria, Libya, Iran, Yemen, Chad, Somalia, North Korea and Venezuela. Before it went into effect, district judges in Hawaii and Maryland blocked enforcement.
Crucially, this ruling has no immediate practical effect.
As Legal Insurrection reported on December 4, the Supreme Court has stayed the Hawaii and Maryland injunctions until the Justices either refuse to hear an appeal or rule against the government on the merits. The panel itself noted, “In light of the Supreme Court’s order staying this injunction pending ‘disposition of the Government’s petition for a writ of certiorari, if such writ is sought,’ we stay our decision today pending Supreme Court review.” As such, the travel order will, for the time being, continue to be enforced with respect to all nationals of the targeted countries.
Summarizing its argument, the panel wrote:

We conclude that the President’s issuance of the Proclamation once again exceeds the scope of his delegated authority. The Government’s interpretation of 8 U.S.C. § 1182(f) not only upends the carefully crafted immigration scheme Congress has embodied in the INA, but it deviates from the text of the statute, legislative history, and prior executive practice as well. Further, the President did not satisfy the critical prerequisite Congress attached to his suspension authority: Before blocking entry, he must first make a legally sufficient finding that the entry of the specified individuals would be “detrimental to the interests of the United States.” The Proclamation once again conflicts with the INA’s prohibition on nationality-based discrimination in the issuance of immigrant visas. Lastly, the President is without a separate source of constitutional authority to issue the Proclamation.

This argument is difficult to square with the actual statutory language. For example, Congress did not “attach” a “critical prerequisite to [the president’s] suspension authority” by requiring him to make a “legally sufficient finding that the entry of the specified individuals would be ‘detrimental to the interests of the United States.'” The text of the statute says that

Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.

Nada about a “legally sufficient” finding. It’s not even clear what a “legally sufficient” finding would be. The Proclamation explains the national security threat posed by each individual country.
The judges also obliquely likened Trump’s travel orders to FDR’s internment of Japanese-Americans. “In assessing the public interest, we are reminded of Justice Murphy’s wise words: ‘All residents of this nation are kin in some way by blood or culture to a foreign land.’ It cannot be in the public interest that a portion of this country be made to live in fear,” they wrote quoting a dissenting opinion from Korematsu. It is unclear why “a portion of this country” would “live in fear” if immigration from six countries in the Middle East were paused. It’s also unclear what that has to do with the president’s statutory authority under the INA.
We’re now just back to where we started. The government will appeal to the Supreme Court, which will likely agree to hear the case.
The Fourth Circuit is expected to issue a ruling soon on the Travel Order.

The term “conspiracy theorist” was created by the CIA as a derogatory term to limit the so-called “Overton window” of allowable debate. When the establishment wants to shut down all discussion of a specific topic — say, the 9/11 WTC 7 building planned demolition, or more recently the Mandalay Bay mass shooting in Vegas that was obviously carried out by multiple shooters — they simply slap the “conspiracy theory” label on it.

Ordinary people, driven by social conformity and the fear of being labeled a “conspiracy theorist,” then flee the subject. Mission accomplished.
Except there’s a problem for the status quo: More and more “conspiracy theories” are being outed as FACTS. Matt Agorist from The Free Thought Project has put together a list of 10 former “conspiracies” that have all been proven to be factually true in the last year. I’ve reprinted the full list below. 1. Hollywood and the political elite have been exposed for their rampant and horrifying sex abuse against men, women, and children alike

Just last year, as good people tried to point out that although Pizzagate may not have taken place in some restaurant in DC, the idea of sex abuse among the elite was no laughing matter. However, anyone who mentioned sex abuse among the elite was scoffed at and ridiculed by those in the mainstream.
This ridicule was in spite of the fact that the former speaker of the house admitted to raping multiple little boys and was sentenced to prison last year. This ridicule was also in spite of the fact that whistleblowers have been shouting from the mountain tops about the rampant abuse—for decades—only to have their cries fall on deaf ears.
This year, however, it was different. With Harvey Weinstein as the catalyst, former victims came forward and began publicly naming their abusers and even getting the police involved. The American people also learned that their ostensible representation in D.C. was spending millions to silence the victims of their apparent uncontrollable sex abuse.
No longer will companies like Disney be able to hire convicted pedophiles as the world looks the other way—nor will sicko politicians be allowed the immunity to rape and pillage as they see fit. 2017 will be known as the year the victims fought back.

2. Weather modification just jumped from “chemtrail” conspiracy theory into mainstream reality, as Congress began holding hearings on geoengineering

Geoengineering is finally going mainstream as the U.S. House Subcommittee on Environment and Subcommittee on Energy Hearing, in November, held the first House hearing about the science that until now has generally been considered a “conspiracy theory” and relegated to the fringe’s of society by the Praetorian Guard mainstream media — controlled by the ruling power-elite oligarchy.
The controversial subject of climate engineering or weather modification – which was popularized, and oversimplified with the term “chem-trails” – is stepping from the shadows and into the light of public scrutiny for the first time.
The congressional hearing, titled “Geoengineering: Innovation, Research, and Technology,” was attended by members of the House committees as well as representatives of think tanks, academics, and researcher scientists to discuss the future of geoengineering research.
During the first hearing, the potential need to set up a regulatory structure within which experiments would be allowed, at a set scale, was discussed. Now, those who deny the fact that government is involved in geoengineering will be the conspiracy theorists.

3. 20,000 documents were released in August proving the EPA conspired with chemical companies to unleash deadly toxic substances on the public

Highly toxic chemical compounds made by Dow, Monsanto, DuPont and other companies were being developed and marketed in ever greater quantities, and federal agencies were rubber-stamping their approval based on fraudulent safety testing.
The Poison Papers reveal that, instead of acting to protect the public and reassess the chemicals, EPA held a secret meeting with chemical companies to assure them that their products would continue being sold.
The secret meeting between EPA and chemical companies is the most poignant example of a long history of collusion at the expense of human and environmental health.

4. US media giant Sally Quinn admitted she practiced the occult to murder people—and she was praised for it

Although her husband Ben Bradlee died in 2014—who was good friends with former President John F. Kennedy, and executive editor of the Washington Post from 1968 to 1991—Quinn has since taken the time to give insight into the glamorous life lived by the media’s royal couple. Some of the practices she describes are ones that would normally be written off as crazy conspiracy theories by outlets such as their beloved Washington Post.
However, WaPost actually praised it.
In her latest publication titled, “Finding Magic: A Spiritual Memoir,” Quinn reveals that she believes she has killed at least three people in her lifetime. She claims that while she did not harm anyone physically, she believes strongly in the occult, and has used hexes on people who got on her bad side.
Seriously.

5. Mainstream media finally admitted the United States has been aiding terrorists in Syria

In November, the BBC released a bombshell report confirming that the US and Syrian Defense Forces knowingly aided thousands of ISIS fighters.
According to the bombshell BBC report:

The BBC has uncovered details of a secret deal that let hundreds of Islamic State fighters and their families escape from Raqqa, under the gaze of the US and British-led coalition and Kurdish-led forces who control the city. A convoy included some of IS’s most notorious members and – despite reassurances – dozens of foreign fighters. Some of those have spread out across Syria, even making it as far as Turkey.

Then in December, an investigation concluded that 97 percent of the weapons used by the Islamic State were supplied illegally by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.
The weapons and ammunition were originally purchased by the United States and Saudi Arabia and then distributed to rebel groups. While the U.S. claimed to be fighting ISIS, the fact is that ISIS was one of the Syrian rebel groups opposing Assad, and as the report noted, nearly all of their weapons came from those purchased by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.

6. The Federal Reserve bank was exposed in June to be a working arm of US Intelligence

Confidential accounts within the Federal Reserve have been used by the U.S. Treasury and other departments “several times a year to analyze the asset holdings of the central banks of Russia, China, Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, Libya and others,” according to a report from Reuters that cites more than a dozen current and former senior U.S. officials.

“The U.S. central bank keeps a tight lid on information contained in these accounts. But according to the officials interviewed by Reuters, U.S. authorities regularly use a ‘need to know’ confidentiality exception in the Fed’s service contracts with foreign central banks.”

7. Declassified document proved the conspiracy that the CIA planned and carried out the 1953 Iranian Coup

The newly declassified documents, titled “Foreign Relations of the United States, 1952-1954, Iran, 1951–1954,” provide a notable difference from the State Department’s 1989 version of the coup, which left out any involvement from American and British intelligence.
A memorandum from Director of Central Intelligence Allen Dulles to President Eisenhower, dated March 1, 1953, serves as a reminder that internally, “the elimination of Mossadeq by assassination or otherwise,” was used as a method in repairing ties with Iran, restoring oil negotiations, and stopping a “Communist takeover.”

8. Billionaire elitists openly admit to Ingesting the blood of young children 

Once the talk of conspiracy theorists — the rich ingesting the blood of the young to foster longevity — is now a reality and an actual business in the United States. Not only is it a business but billionaires are actually admitting their interest in it.
As Vanity Fair reports, Ambrosia, which buys its blood from blood banks, now has about 100 paying customers. Some are Silicon Valley technologists—like Peter Thiel, the billionaire co-founder of PayPal and adviser to Donald Trump.

10. Mainstream science showed Vitamin C’s ability to fight cancer

According to researchers from the University of Iowa, ascorbate, derived from Vitamin C, was successfully observed increasing hydrogen peroxide levels in cancer cells, which in turn had a toxic result with cancer cells, killing the cancer cells in lab rats yet not damaging normal cells in the process. The researchers concluded that Vitamin C might, indeed, be lethal to some cancers. 
According to the scientists, “These results indicate that an in vivo measurement of catalase activity in tumors may predict which cancers will respond to pharmacological ascorbate therapy.” Once the exact cancers are identified, which are killed by vitamin C, the researchers concluded, “this information can also be used in finding combination therapies that may increase the efficacy of treatment for those tumors with higher catalase activities.” In other words, extremely high doses of the Vitamin C derivative may potentially be added to conventional cancer therapies to help kill more cancer cells.

Former independent Black Ops Contractor Cody Snodgres recently took to the airwaves to incredibly allege he was offered $1 million from the CIA to bomb the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City prior to the deadly explosion in the 1990s.
Last night Snodgres was involved in a serious car accident, according to reports.

The shadow government being invaded by the Marines,

Time is counting down on these long time traitors,

He paused for a moment and gave it some thought,
And recalled with a growl what the predators have wrought.
A nation deceived and a world denied,
It’s time to stand tall for those who have died.

“Gather your children and friends all around,
In your states, cities and all over town.
Unite together and always stand strong,
The abuse and destruction has gone on for too long.

Save your children and your souls before it’s too late,
There’s still a chance this world can be great.”
With that he rose and climbed into his sleigh,
He hoped the citizens would soon find a way.

To rid themselves of the pestilence, fraud and pain,
And in so doing they would have much to gain.
He had packages to deliver and good will to spread,
As he prompted the reindeer and up went the sled.

He smiled and gave all a big wave as he rose out of sight,

Ex-FBI Assistant Director: Patriots Within The FBI Will Soon Step Forward And Expose The "Cabal"

Former FBI Assistant Director James Kallstrom spoke to FBN's Stewart Varney to discuss recent bombshells concerning the FBI, whose top brass has been conducting a highly politicized witch-hunt of President Trump on behalf of the anti-Trump establishment, while protecting then-candidate Hillary Clinton from criminal charges related to her email investigation, Clinton Foundation involvement in pay-for-play schemes, including a farcical probe of the Uranium One scandal.

When asked about morale at the FBI towards the end of the interview, Kallstrom dropped a very interesting breadcrumb:

Varney: What's morale like in the FBI now?

Kallstrom: It's not good, but I think recent events that I'm aware of are going to improve that because there's going to be actually something that's going to happen, in my view.

Varney: You going to leave us on that?

Kallstrom: Well I think there's a lot of patriots that have had it up to here with what's going on, and they're going to step forward and tell people what the shenanigans have been. How they shut down the Clinton Foundation investigation, how other things were done that are so anti-what the FBI and the United States and this country is about.

Kallstrom also said he thinks there are people in the Justice department who may face obstruction charges:

"Now we come to this focus on the fifth estate that I've talked about, that includes multiplicities of people. But now we know it also includes a bunch of sycophants in the FBI - they were part of the Comey team, apparently. And people in Justice also that I believe have exposure now for obstruction of justice." 

Regarding Peter Strzok's infamous "insurance" text to his mistress, FBI Attorney Lisa Page, he said "People tweet each other and they send text messages, but they don't plan. The FBI is not in the business of planning to destroy a President of the United States," adding "I think they were way above their capability. This guy thinks he's the lone ranger, this Peter Strzok."

If that's his thinking, and they were obviously in Andy's office plotting some kind of thing. And I think that some kind of thing is what we're seeing right now. And we've seen for the last, what, ever since he's been elected we've seen this facade and this phony challenge to Trump about collusion and Russia, which nothing could be further from the truth. All the collusion is with the Democrats, and it's very very depressing to be FBI agents. 99 percent are hard working patriotic guys and girls that come to work for the good of the country.

And you've got this cabal of people. You've got this deputy director (McCabe) who should have been out a long time ago for his actions. And then you’ve got Peter Strzok and who knows how many others. -James Kallstrom

Kallstrom then brought up a question that's on a lot of minds currently; just what exactly is Jeff Sessions doing right now?
"I think finally we're going to get to the end of this, but the big mystery here is the Justice Department. What is the Justice Department doing? What is the Attorney General of the United States doing? You know, it's too bad for Donald Trump... ...It's a mystery to me why he hasn't called over to the Attorney General and told the AG "give the oversight committees the documents they're looking for." Why is the Trump Justice Department not complying with subpoenas?"

Varney: I want to summarize this. I want to be very clear about it. I have said in my opinion there is a cabal active within the FBI and the Justice Department.

Kallstrom: Yes

Varney: Which hates trump, which protected Hillary Clinton and tried to bring down Donald Trump. And that is an extraordinary story of interference in an American presidential election.

Kallstrom: yes, yes, yes. It is. Without question that's what it was. Just like the whole "so-called" Clinton investigation, it was phony from the beginning; No grand jury, giving witnesses immunity, putting all the subjects in one room at the same time. I mean it's crazy. It's nuts what they did.
