Health - Never Have Reflux Again - Zero Your Barrett's Risk

Never Have Reflux Again - Zero Your Barrett's Risk

A recent article in a medical industry journal touted a revolutionary
new "treatment" for Barrett's esophagus even though it's not a treatment at all.

Here's the scoop on this latest medical miracle that isn't...
In order to diagnose Barrett's esophagus (a throat condition that can progress into cancer), doctors typically perform an endoscopy, which is the fancy term for sedating you, sticking a scope down your throat and taking a look.
Up until this point, if Barrett's was suspected, they'd cut out a little tissue from your insides during the endoscopy, and the treatment would be determined once the test results were received.
"Cellvizio," the subject of the article, is an imaging tool that helps doctors identify cancerous tissue more quickly and accurately. It's actually the world's smallest and most flexible microscope and it gets attached to the end of an endoscope, allowing your doctor to more clearly see the cells of your esophagus.
The article hailed this device as a major breakthrough, since cancerous cells can be identified on the spot and "treatment" can commence right away.
A Barrett's patient who was interviewed in the article said that Cellvizio technology has allowed her to "get on with her life" since all three of the endoscopies she's had so far show that she's still cancer-free.
Am I missing something?
While this tool is clearly impressive in terms of timely Barrett's-related cancer detection, I see a gaping hole here.
And that is: Cellvizio (and any other detection "miracle" that may come along after it) does absolutely NOTHING to actually TREAT Barrett's and help prevent cancer from forming in the first place.
If nothing effective is done to address what's causing the Barrett's to begin with, it's simply just a waiting game, HOPING each time you get scoped that you'll skate by.
That's "getting on with your life?"
Sounds more like Russian Roulette.
You see, relying on this new technology to manage Barrett's is no better than a smoker continuing to puff away, but still getting an annual chest x-ray (and praying each time that it's free of lung cancer).
Same thing, right?
Listen, in order to REALLY help treat Barrett's, (or help prevent it before you get it), you've got to stop doing what's causing it to begin with.
And you won't need prayer.
Here's what you REALLY need to know:
What causes Barrett's? -- Acid reflux does
Barrett's esophagus is most often the result of repeated exposure to stomach acid -- in other words, acid reflux or GERD. Obesity (especially around the abdominal area) can also be a risk factor.
People with Barrett's esophagus have an increased risk of developing esophageal adenocarcinoma. Once cancer occurs, depending on the degree of severity it can result in surgeons CUTTING OUT YOUR ESOPHAGUS.
The surgery is called an esophagectomy. This involves removing your esophagus and the top part of your stomach. A portion of your stomach is then pulled up into your chest and connected to the remaining undiseased portion of your esophagus.
An unpleasant as that may sound, that's not even the worst of it, because there are side-effects to boot.
Possible complications of esophagectomy include breathing problems, increased risk of dangerous infection, lowered immune system, damage to your larynx (voice box), difficulty swallowing and frequent vomiting.
What NOT to do
Acid reflux (GERD) is the primary culprit behind the development of Barrett's...so the typical acid reflux remedies are what are usually prescribed for Barrett's.
You know...acid reducers.
But here's the kicker -- they make Barrett's WORSE -- not better!
It's true! And here's why:
The most common acid reducing medications like PPIs (Nexium "the purple pill," Prilosec or Prevacid), and H2 Blockers (Zantac, Pepcid or Tagamet) "work" by stopping your stomach's acid secretions.
But acid digestive enzymes are NEEDED to properly digest proteins. So when your stomach secretes acid when you eat protein, it's doing its job and should not be interrupted.
But that's what the drugs do. They go too far.
And while they may temporarily ease some discomfort (which is good, they also stop your stomach from doing what it MUST do to properly break down your food.
So your digestion is greatly slowed or stopped.
When this happens, your stomach senses something's wrong and tries to secrete more acid to jump-start digestion again, but it's eventually stopped again by the drugs.
This cycle can go on for 8-10 hours or more and results in a blob of badly digested, putrefied food sloshing around with the acids in your stomach.
Now, guess what happens later, especially as soon as you lie down?
Up, up, up it comes into your throat and...
Hello acid reflux (and Barrett's esophagus).
But it doesn't have to be this way...not when it's so darn easy to prevent.

The BEST way to fight (or prevent) Barrett's
If you want to minimize your chances of developing Barrett's esophagus (or help prevent it from worsening if you already have it), you have to do just one thing...
Make your digestion efficient!
When your digestion is allowed to be accomplished thoroughly and completely, there is no putrefying mass of food OR acid rising into your throat.
In other words, you help eliminate the source of Barrett's -- acid reflux/GERD!
This can be accomplished in two easy steps:
1- With food
This means replacing some acid-creating foods and meals that are causing this mess with some alkalizing foods and food combinations that digest quickly and easily.
Note that alkalizing foods include spices and tomatoes that are typically "forbidden" for people with acid reflux. Thing is, what you've heard is wrong. Those items are actually GOOD for reflux as long as you eat them properly!
But few doctors know this and even fewer would tell you, if they did know.
And note that even the healthiest, most nutritious foods can be acid-forming to your body IF they are eaten with the wrong other foods. You see, it's not just the food you eat that counts -- it's what you eat TOGETHER that's the biggest issue.
Eat the WRONG things together, and your food sits in your stomach for HOURS. Then the acid comes up into your esophagus.
But eat the RIGHT things together, and you have NO reflux and NO risk of Barrett's at all.
If you're not sure where to start, I can help you.
My Great Taste No Pain system will show you step by easy step exactly what to do.
The GTNP manuals spell out which foods are acid-forming vs. alkaline. They also show you the foods that digest well together and what combinations to avoid.
Couldn't be easier.
If you do what I tell you to do, your stomach (and your whole body) will likely respond very quickly. Overproduction of acid can ease in as quickly as the very first meal.
Without acid rising up in your throat, your esophagus can start healing immediately.
And that's great news to people with Barrett's.

2- With enzyme supplementation
If you've eaten typical acid-forming, hard to digest meals for a long time (or your whole life), chances are excellent that your body's ability to produce adequate enzymes for digestion is reduced, impaired or even non-existent.
This is especially true if you've been on acid reducing medications (like the purple pill).
Digestizol Max digestive enzymes can help give your body the boost it may need to keep your digestion nice and smooth -- and help make acid reflux, GERD and Barrett's a thing of the past for you.

Sherry,
I had been diagnosed with IBS in the 1970's. I was given medication for it. Through the years, I have had to take laxatives. Back in those days, you did not have internet and could not find any help.
Back in 2007, I went for tests and was diagnosed with GERD. I was given purple pills to swallow and was again told I had IBS also.
The doctor also wrote a prescription for GI cocktail which I had to take daily too. After talking this medication for a while, I knew there had to be a better answer than a doctor pushing pills down your throat.
But in 2008, I was on the internet, found your Great Taste No Pain plan and ordered it. I received it and could not believe how I was eating incorrectly and combining my foods wrong.
No wonder so many people have digestive problems. It took several weeks for my body to readjust itself before I got better. I have been on your plan for so long now; I do not have to look at the book very much. I have it memorized.
I love your recipe book. My favorite is "Sherry's Outrageous Spaghetti Sauce." I love it!
I thank the Lord I found your website. I wish more people could find about you.
Thank you so much for doing research and showing people what to do. It makes all the difference in the world.
Marilynn

As we age, our supply of digestive enzymes decreases. This is especially true for people who eat lots of processed food and hard to digest meals. Foods such as these require LOTS of enzymes to break them down and over time your body's ability to produce enough enzymes is diminished. Nothing can make you feel older than gas, bloating, heartburn and constipation from ineffective digestion and too few enzymes. Give your body the support it needs and feel great inside with Digestizol Max natural digestive enzyme supplement.  Learn more about Digestizol Max and all the ways it can help you here.

Also look into "Oil of Oregano".

My father used to buy the large, economy sized Tums bottles. We called it "dad candy" when we were kids.

He died of cancer.

I used to buy the SAME large economy sized Tums bottles every month or two and so did my older sister. I'd wake up in agony and a couple of times ended up with acid going down the wrong way. I literally thought I was going to die one night that happened and it caused me to cough so much and so hard I began vomiting and could not get a breath.

Then we found out about oil of oregano.

The first couple weeks I took 3 capsules a day between meals. I burped constantly and everything tasted like pizza as it began to change my stomach/body chemistry to be more alkaline. When I stopped tasting oregano all the time (as I began to burp much less from it), I dropped to one a day for a few more weeks. Then one 3-4 days a week then two each week and now I take one capsule every Monday morning (easy to remember that way). As a result I have not taken EVEN ONE antacid product whatsoever for over two and a half years now.

I have found that if I take less than 1 capsule a week, I have had very slight heartburn develop a couple times (not painful but definitely noticeable) so I immediately took a capsule and was fine within a few hours.

Many vitamin and heath food shops carry it as a liquid and/or in capsules (my preference). Approx $18-$20 for a bottle of 60 capsules lets me sleep through every night pain free for about a year. Priceless... Well, 1/2 a year as my wife started taking one a week as well.

Oh, and after that first few weeks, only pizza tasted like pizza again.
