Here’s a list of public pension debt for every state in America
August 6, 2015
Federal data show California has the largest unfunded liabilities, but not the highest debt per resident
Today’s Sacramento Bee features a map of state pension debts and a
graphic that traces returns on 21 years of CalPERS and CalSTRS
investments.
A few readers have asked for more detailed state pension and population data, which comes from the U.S. Census Bureau. So here it is.
The map shows pension debt in the lower 48. Pan the map to see Alaska and Hawaii. For best results on phone, use landscape mode. Click here if using The Bee app.
