Obama admin: Still Blocking the Way for Christian Refugees
Nate Jackson · Jun. 1, 2016
Christian persecution is nothing new — in fact, the founder of the religion, Jesus Christ, promised it would happen, and it has happened regularly for the last 2,000 years.
Recent events (and serious policy malfeasance) in the Middle East have brought an increase in this persecution, too. Yet the Obama administration isn’t lifting a finger to help Christian refugees.
Here’s a brief history:
In July 2014, we learned that Muslims were purging Christians from Iraqi cities. Unfortunately, since 2003, more than one million Christians have been exiled from Iraq while, as of 2014, an estimated 300,000 remained. Christians were safer under Saddam Hussein.
In August 2015, we reported that 28 Chaldean Christians had been sitting in a San Diego immigration detention facility while bureaucrats decided whether to let them seek asylum in America or be returned to Iraq. 27 of them were deported.
In November 2015, it was revealed that just 53 of 2,184 Syrian refugees admitted into the U.S. since the Syrian civil war erupted in 2011 were Christians.
In January 2016, we noted a report indicating that more than 7,100 Christians were killed in 2015, almost entirely in the Middle East.
In March 2016, Secretary of State John Kerry finally admitted that the Islamic State is committing genocide against Christians and other minorities.
Just this May 2016, 1,037 more Syrian refugees were admitted to the U.S. Two were Christians. And of the 2,099 Syrians admitted so far this year, just six were Christians.
Only 60 Christians have been admitted since 2011, accounting for a meager 1.3% of refugees, as opposed to 10% of the Syrian population (which are muslim males generally between the teen years up to around the 40's.)
So the question is, are there just not that many Christian refugees? Or is Obama giving his version of punishment for the Crusades?
