Airline Operations Comments on the Asiana 214 Crash
What happened to the Asiana
B-777 flight is quite simple. There are three reasons for this accident, all
related to pilot performance:
1. They are Asian.
2. They are Asian.
3. They are Asian.
They cannot perform, nor will
they ever be capable of performing, a visual approach. Not in their skill set.
They are totally directed in how to do every thing. Free thought is not
allowed. Add the culture - not losing face - and the flight was doomed as soon
as they were cleared for the visual approach.
The landing approach speed of
137 knots, better known as Vref
(V-reference), is 30% above stall speed (1.3 x stall speed) for the existing
gross weight of the aircraft).
All jet airplanes fly the
Vref speed on final approach. It is a calculated target airspeed which varies
with the gross weight of the aircraft.
So dividing 137 by 1.3 = 105
or Vs (stall). Stick shaker is 1.07 Vs or in this case 112 Kts. So they slowed
25 knots or 25x1.151=28.7 Mph.
No jet aircraft should ever
be more than 5 knots below Vref on approach, and then only long enough for an
immediate correction to take effect. An airspeed 25 knots below Vref is
absolutely unimaginable and unacceptable. A pilot who could allow this to occur
is in the wrong occupation.
(The stick shaker is a
mechanical device connected to the pilot’s control column which activates a
strong vibration together with a loud machine-gun like noise in the cockpit
when the aircraft is approaching an aerodynamic stall resulting from low
airspeed. It is impossible to ignore. Pilots are trained to react by
habit to the stick shaker by immediately applying maximum engine power and
lowering the nose to reduce “angle of attack”. However, this action results in
a temporary loss of altitude in order to recover airspeed. If there is no
altitude to lose, as in the case of Asiana 214, the pilot has a big problem.)
When they finally play the
cockpit voice recorder, you will find that nobody
said a word as the aircraft slowed.
NOBODY!
That is because to do so
would have caused a loss of face.
Many problems.
It does not matter at all the
guy only had 43 hours in type (in the Boeing 777). Not at all.
He had plenty of time in 747's. An airplane is an airplane. They ALL fly the
same way. (Except the piece of junk Airbus)
I have watched time after
time Asian carriers cleared for visual approaches miss the runway,
either too high, or get too low and miss the approach.
I have gotten on the radio
and have told the controller “send them out for the ILS (Instrument
Landing System approach) or they are not landing today.”
Needless to say I have been in trouble many times because of it.
The fact that they waited until one or two knots above
stick shaker to say something says volumes about the cockpit culture.
When I was a check airman,
doing the exact thing he was doing, I allowed about 5 knots
either side of Vref before correcting. You have to see if the trainee will
correct. Part of the learning curve. I was more tolerant if the airspeed was
too fast (more than 5 knots above Vref) than too slow. If they did not correct
the situation in a timely manner then I did.
It's your job!!
The fact that all four pilots
in that cockpit allowed that aircraft to slow to stick shaker and say nothing
is beyond belief by western culture standards!!!
They, the FAA and NTSB
will dance around this fact, not want to offend anyone. This will also be tragic.
So if the airline sounds
Asian DO NOT get on it!!!
We have been discussing over
the last couple of years, that pilots being trained today with all the
automation, lack basic flying skills. Both western and foreign.
We see it in the simulators
every day. It is a guarantee, if they are Asian, and you take away the
automation, it will not end well. Never does.
But, by the same token, we
have just as much failure with the new breed of American pilots.
Have had many a discussion
with our FAA reps and they know it too.
This problem will only get
worse over time. I would take a train but an airplane
would probably crash into it.

Federal Reserve Policy Mainly Benefits Big Foreign Banks
We’ve extensively documented that the Federal Reserve is intentionally locking up bank money so that it is not loaned out to Main Street. Specifically – due to Fed policy – 81.5% of all money created by quantitative easing is sitting there gathering dust in the form of “excess reserves” … instead of being loaned out to help Main Street or the American economy.
And we’ve extensively documented that a large percentage of the bailouts went to foreign banks (and see this and this). (A 2010 Fed audit also revealed that of the $1.25 trillion of mortgage-backed securities the central bank purchased after the housing bubble popped, some $442.7 billion - more than 35% – were bought from foreign banks.)
It turns out that these themes are all connected.
Specifically, most of the Fed-created money which is gathering dust is actually being held by foreign banks.
The Levy Economics Institute noted in May:
Excess reserves are the surplus of reserves against deposits and certain other liabilities that depository institutions (loosely called “banks”) hold above the amounts that the Board requires within ranges set by federal law. The general requirement is that covered institutions maintain reserves at least equal to ten percent of liabilities payable on demand. For the first time in history, there is statistical evidence that as much as one-half or more of excess reserves are held for United States banking offices offoreign banks.
Zero Hedge reports today:
As per last night’s [Federal Reserve] H.8 update, commercial bank deposits rose by $94 billion in the week ended July 17: the fourth largest weekly increase in history …. This took total commercial bank deposits to an all-time high of $9.54 trillion.

The entire difference can be attributed to the $2+ trillion in excess reserves created by the Fed since the start of the [global financial crisis] .
Speaking of Fed reserves with banks, the most recent number was $2.1 trillion, and its allocation breakdown by Domestic (small and large) and Foreign banks operating in the US is as follows:
Foreign banks continue to be the biggest beneficiary of the Fed’s monthly $85 billion liquidity largesse, just as they were the biggest winners during QE2.
In fact, the total reserve cash distribution continues to favor foreign banks, which now have a record $1.13 trillion in cash, or $9 billion more than all Domestically-chartered banks, at $1.122 trillion. The notable shift of cash reallocation from domestic to foreign banks since QE2 can be seen on the chart below.
To nobody’s surprise, global liquidity (as created by the Fed) continues to be infinitely fungible, and increasingly benefits offshore-based (mainly European) banks.

We’ve repeatedly noted that loose Federal Reserve policy benefits of the super-elite at the expense ofMain Street, the U.S. economy or the average American.
It now appears that the policy benefits foreign super-elite even more than the elites in the U.S.
The Federal Reserve – like many parts of the U.S. government – are sucking the prosperity out of America … and shipping it abroad.

 Message from SaLuSa - by MADAD 30-07-2013 Things are speeding up in your reality, which is undoubtedly one of the signs that your transformation into Beings with full consciousness is proceeding according the Plan. We are here to remind you of this and other changes that are happening until you are able to fully connect to your Higher Self and to the All There Is. Then we will help you remember how to use all the knowing that is available to you. Now, this knowing is flowing to you so to say in pieces, but once you reach the needed level of consciousness, you will be fully connected to the source of all the knowledge available for your state of consciousness. This ascension process will continue until you will return to the Source, yet with much less speed comparing to this Ascension of Mother Earth and you. In higher realms, time is not important the way you are used to it, the lessons are of greatest importance that you are learning and until you completely understand it, you cannot move further. For some of you these days might be stressful and uncomfortable, because with more of Light and Love coming to Earth, even the oldest issues are arising and requesting your attention. As we said before, treat them with love and compassion because when they are here, you have chosen to clear them in this lifetime in order to move on and no more should they stand in your progress. Remember to love yourself and take some time throughout the day at least for a short break and entering your inner world, which we cannot emphasize enough until you find out for yourself that these moments are most helping your process of transformation. It is vital to stay in the calm state of mind, because then you can hear your guidance without any interference, clearly and loudly without doubts that usually enter your mind when being anxious and tired. These quiet moments can charge you with new and fresh energy and then help you avoid unwanted reactions from your point of view. We see that many of you already have changed their habits of spending their time and those who let go of being captive in this illusion soon will feel and see an immense change in their lives. All will release the time illusion one day and it will happen when they are ready, no sooner, no later. We keep reminding you that how your transformation proceeds is upon your free will, so each one of you is moving according to your own choice. Mother Earth chose to “wait” for all of her children who are willing to change, so be assured that all people will be taken care of. Those who are aligned with higher vibrations are ready to step into the higher realm and continue their learning. With that decision to move forward, they are bringing this higher realm closer to all others, who then are able to connect to these “new” experiences. We are here to help you reach that state of consciousness and now, when the things started to move much faster, we are also adjusting the speed of our work to be aligned with the need of requested changes.
