Corruption probes hitting Dems across the country

A wave of corruption arrests and investigations is roiling Democratic politicians, posing a potential image problem in an election year.
The latest were a pair of arrests earlier this week, snagging Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon, who later resigned, and California state Sen. Leland Yee. The latter involved a tangled web of allegations including claims that the gun control-pushing lawmaker tried to connect an undercover agent with an international arms dealer.
So far, these cases are confined to the state and local levels, so it remains to be seen whether Democrats running in the congressional midterms will be tarnished.
In fact, the only major arrest of a U.S. congressman since the beginning of 2013 was that of a Republican, Florida Rep. Trey Radel, who was convicted for cocaine possession and resigned early this year. Each party typically is careful to throw stones when the other side finds itself on the wrong side of the law, because corruption and other misbehavior is a bipartisan problem.
For every Anthony Weiner, there's a Mark Foley.
But since Radel's October arrest, the bulk of the corruption cases have involved Democrats.
In California alone, Yee's case marked the third arrest or conviction in as many months of a state Democratic official.
State Republicans, who have been struggling to regain their political footing, have sought to capitalize on the wave of criminal charges as a way to undo Democrats' dominance in the Legislature. Republicans have repeatedly tried to expel Sen. Rod Wright after he was convicted of perjury and voter fraud in January for lying about his legal residence in Los Angeles County. Democratic leaders have blocked those efforts. The state Senate, though, voted Friday to suspend all three of the lawmakers in trouble.
The other, Sen. Ron Calderon, was indicted on federal corruption charges in February. Prosecutors say Calderon accepted about $100,000 for himself and family members in exchange for promoting legislation to expand Hollywood tax credits and protect the interest of a hospital that benefited from a provision of the workers' compensation law.
Then came Yee, whose alleged activities were more befitting Hollywood than his San Francisco district.
The criminal complaint contained dramatic details about Yee's alleged efforts to connect an undercover agent with a firearms dealer.
"Do I think we can make some money? I think we can make some money," the senator allegedly said in one of the meetings.
The cases, while involving local politicians, have put powerful Democrats in an awkward position.
U.S. Sens. Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein of California joined a growing list of officials on Thursday in distancing themselves by demanding Yee's resignation. The Democratic leader of the state Senate, President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, warned Yee to resign or face suspension by his colleagues, saying "he cannot come back."
Cannon, meanwhile, was ensnared in an FBI sting and faces federal corruption charges alleging he accepted more than $48,000 in cash, airline tickets, a hotel room and a luxury apartment from undercover agents posing as real estate developers and investors. Cannon, while not a household Democratic name, led the city that hosted the Democratic National Convention in 2012.
On top of that case, Rhode Island House Speaker Gordon Fox said Saturday he was resigning from leadership and would not run for re-election, a day after federal and state authorities raided his Statehouse office and home as part of a criminal investigation that they would not detail.
The Friday raids were carried out by the U.S. attorney's office, FBI, IRS and state police. Boxes of evidence were carried off after agents spent hours at both his home and office. Officials will not say whom or what they are investigating.
The 52-year-old Providence Democrat, who became the nation's first openly gay House speaker in 2010, said he planned to serve out the remainder of his term through the end of the year, but that "my personal focus going forward will be on my family and dealing with the investigation."
Meanwhile, in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol, the mayor of the District of Columbia, a Democrat, is facing his own problems. A U.S. attorney claimed earlier this month that Mayor Vincent Gray knew about an illegal, $668,000 "shadow campaign" that helped propel him into office four years ago. Despite denials from the mayor, who has not been accused of a crime, the revelation further damaged him ahead of next week's primary.
"I think the question politically is whether it becomes emblematic of the national party," said Mary Katharine Ham, a Fox News contributor. "And that, to some extent, depends on media coverage. In, for instance, 2006, there was the drumbeat against Republicans was this culture of corruption; and that, to a large extent, was effective because it was so consistently covered in the media."

The United Nations Committee against Torture has slammed the Vatican over its handling of sexual abuse of minors by pedophile priests, saying clerics must comply with a UN anti-torture treaty.
The UN committee said on Friday that Vatican officials have failed to report abuse charges properly, transferred abusive priests rather than punishing them as well as failed to pay adequate compensation to victims.
The panel of 10 independent experts called on the Holy See to cooperate in prosecuting all cases of suspected abuse, adding that all cases of suspected sexual abuse must be referred to authorities for investigation.
The UN committee also asked the Vatican to stop protecting suspected priests and immediately suspend them, urging the Holy See to establish an independent complaints mechanism for possible victims of abuse over the past decades.
Victims accuse Roman Catholic authorities of protecting abusive clerics and of ignoring their complaints.
The criticism follows the UN committee’s public grilling of Vatican officials during a hearing earlier this month in Geneva and it is the second time in three months a UN human rights body has slammed the Vatican over its handling of sexual abuse of minors by priests.
In January, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child denounced the Vatican for adopting policies allowing priests to rape and molest tens of thousands of children.
The committee also blasted the Vatican’s practice of transferring the abusing clergymen from parish to parish in a bid to cover up their crimes.

Geneva Bible

Geneva Bible

1599 Geneva Bible original frontispiece
The Geneva Bible was the first full-length Bible to be published in the English language. Its original compilers and publishers produced 144 separate editions between 1560 and 1644 AD, beyond which time King Charles I and Archbishop William Laud forbade its printing in England. The Geneva Bible virtually disappeared until modern times. The Geneva Bible is now available in a hardcover edition published in 2006 by Tolle Lege Press.[1]
It was the Geneva Bible (rather than the King James Bible) that was preferred by the Puritans who colonized New England, and the Pilgrims probably brought the Geneva Bible with them on the Mayflower. One reason the Puritans preferred the Geneva Bible was due to its thorough annotations.

History
Tyndale’s New Testament
The Roman Catholic Church had spread throughout the territory that was once part of the Western Roman Empire. Yet the Church reserved for its own clergy the right to own the written text of the Bible–and no European monarch permitted any of his subjects actually to possess a copy of the Bible printed in any language other than Latin.[2]
In 1526, William Tyndale began his first efforts to translate the Bible into English. For this defiance of the royal edicts then in force, the authorities pursued him. He fled to Germany, where he met Martin Luther, and from there to Belgium. There he produced a mechanically printed edition of the New Testament, and his friends smuggled 6,000 copies of it into England. Authorities in Belgium hunted him, arrested him, and imprisoned him in Vilvoorde, and on March 6, 1536, he was executed.[2]
Tyndale’s New Testament did not reach the common man in England. It did, however, influence the English clergy and might have been an impetus behind the Reformation in England.[2] Significantly, Anne Boleyn was executed in the same year as was Tyndale–and subsequent to this, King Henry VIII began his sweeping purge of the monasteries in his realm.
Bloody Mary
In 1553, Queen Mary I acceded to the throne upon the death of her half-brother, Edward VI. This Catholic queen quickly earned the nickname “Bloody Mary” by her ruthless persecution of the English Reformers and her execution of 300 of them. Another 800 Reformers fled to the continent, where they gathered in Geneva, Switzerland, then known as John Calvin’s “Protestant Rome.”[3] There they set about creating an English-language version of the entire Bible, and one that would have no ties to any monarch, whether in England or elsewhere in Europe. Among the men involved in this project were William Whittingham, Miles Coverdale, Christopher Goodman, Anthony Gilby, John Knox, and Thomas Sampson.[2]
The First Edition
The Geneva translators avoided the Latin Bible version, or Vulgate, and sought access to the oldest and most authentic Hebrew and Greek manuscripts they could find. Their research benefited, ironically, from the Fall of the Byzantine Empire in 1453, an event that had forced many Christian clerics to flee the fallen city of Constantinople with their manuscripts in hand.
In 1557, Whittingham produced a revised edition of Tyndale’s original New Testament. Then in 1560 the reformers produced the first edition of the Geneva Bible. This they dedicated to Queen Elizabeth I, who by then had succeeded to the throne after the death of her sister, “Bloody Mary.” Under Elizabeth’s patronage, the Geneva Bible became the Bible of choice not merely for clergy but also for laity.[2]
Later Editions
From the beginning, the Geneva Bible was a study Bible, richly annotated and illustrated. The 1599 edition had the most extensive annotations of any of the Geneva Bibles, and a table of interpretations of (mainly Old Testament) proper names.
The Geneva Bible was highly popular in England, and indeed the Jamestown expeditionaries carried it to America in 1607. Likewise, the Pilgrims carried it with them to the Netherlands, where they had fled, and then to what later became their Plymouth colony (in modern Massachusetts) in 1620.
In 1604, shortly after his own accession to the throne, King James I commissioned his own version of the Bible, that would later come to be known as “The Bishop’s Bible” or, more commonly, the Authorized Version. James’ motive for promulgating his own version was simple: he did not want the people to have in hand a Bible with all the marginal notes that the Geneva Bible had. The reason was equally simple: those marginal notes might encourage lay readers not to credit James’ overriding dogma of “the divine right of kings” that was central to his authority.[4]
This version was first published in 1611. A later king (Charles I) would take the first steps toward suppression of the Geneva Bible toward the end of his reign. In 1644, the Geneva Bible went out of print and would remain out of print for more than four hundred fifty years.
Modern Editions
In 2003, L. L. Brown and Company published an edition of the 1599 Geneva Bible.[5] This edition included the Apocrypha and a metrical rendition of the Book of Psalms originally intended to encourage their recitation in church.
In January of 2004 a group of concerned American individuals and organizations formed the 1599 Geneva Bible Restoration Project to restore and republish the richly annotated 1599 edition. Seventeen organizations and 270 individuals and families contributed funds for the project.[6] The Project acquired the rights to the L. L. Brown copy, but omitted the Apocrypha and metrical Psalms and sought as much as possible to authenticate the original text as printed in 1599. The Tolle Lege edition makes no attempt to “modernize” the text, other than to update some of the spelling. Instead of “translating” the many out-dated words, it includes a glossary intended more as a guide than as a hard-and-fast body of rules. The editors state in their front matter that they wished to deliver an edition as close in meaning to the original as practicable.
Review
The Text
Foster[2] states that the Geneva translators relied heavily on manuscripts originally brought to Geneva by Christians fleeing the conquering Ottoman Turks in 1453. Random comparisons between the New Testament and the Nestlé-Aland Greek New Testament and its critical apparatus[7] support that claim. The Geneva text tends to follow the so-called Byzantine family of manuscripts at certain points at which the original Greek text is in dispute.
Likewise, the Old Testament Geneva text appears to follow the Masoretic Text prepared by the Hebrew “Masoretes” of the latter part of the second century AD, and pays no homage to the Septuagint of Ptolemy I Soter of Alexandria.
Distinction from the Authorized Version
The Geneva Bible is often called the “Breeches Bible” because of its rendition of Genesis 3:7 (KJV). The Geneva text[8] reads as follows: “ Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked, and they sewed fig tree leaves together, and made themselves breeches. ”
In fact, if any version of the Bible, printed or electronic, does not translate Genesis 3:7 in the words quoted above, then it is not a Geneva Bible.
The differences in the actual text between the Geneva and Authorized Versions are minor. Nevertheless they are critical to distinguishing the Geneva Bible from the Authorized Version or any other version.
The Marginal Notes
The copious marginal notes are the key feature of the Geneva Bible, and its key difference from the Authorized Version, which has no such notes. As Foster[2] stated, the Geneva Bible is the first true study Bible. Its translators sought to explain to the common man not only what the Bible said but also what it meant.
These notes are highly revealing of the mind-set of the Geneva editors. For that reason they are at least as valuable as a source of insight into Reformation thinking as they are as explanatory text of the Bible itself.
Literalism
The Geneva editors regarded their Bible as literal history. This included the history of creation, the genealogy of the pre-Flood Patriarchs[9], and the full history and exact time-line of the ancient Jews. Some of their notes beg explanation–for example, their counting of the “four hundred years” of oppression of the Israelites[10] as beginning with the birth of Isaac and not with the entry of Jacob into Egypt. This, however, is a minor quibble.
Eschatology
Though they took their Bible history literally, they did not take prophecy nearly as literally. This is especially true as regards eschatology (literally, “the last words”). Like their friend and protector John Calvin, the Geneva editors held to the following doctrines:
Covenant theology. This holds that the covenant promises originally made to Abraham and his direct lineal descendants the Israelites no longer apply to them, but apply instead to the Church. By “Church” they did not mean any one denomination, but rather the whole body of Christian believers.
Postmillennialism. This holds that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will take place after the “thousand years” of imprisonment of Satan.[11]
Preterism. This holds that the prophecies mentioned in Revelation 4-19 , Daniel 7-12 , Zechariah 12 , and elsewhere, had already been fulfilled at the time of their writing.

Anti-Catholic sentiment
The Geneva editors infused their notes with many attacks against the Roman Catholic Church–hardly a surprise considering the persecution in which the RCC, and Queen Mary I, were then engaging. The most striking attack against Rome is the handling of the prophecy of the Two Witnesses in Jerusalem[12] The Bible says, of course, that two men prophesied for 1,260 days in the court of the Temple of Jerusalem. The Geneva notes say instead that the two witnesses stand for “ministers” of the Word of God that are outside of the RCC, and that the 1,260 days are actually 1,260 years that began with the Crucifixion (which they assumed had taken place in AD 33 or 34) and ended with the accession to the papacy of Pope Boniface VIII (r. 1294-1303). Boniface was famous for issuing a papal bull stating that, to be saved, every man had to be a member of the RCC–and the Geneva notes further accused Boniface of obtaining his office by fraud. The notes on other verses in Revelation go further: they identify the Roman Empire and the Roman Catholic Church with the Beast of Revelation 13 .[13]
Royal authority and its limits
The Geneva editors, in their notes, spoke of limits on royal authority, and this is probably why James I specifically ordered a translation of the Bible without annotation. He construed any limit on royal authority as a challenge to his own authority. For example, the note for Exodus 1:19 (KJV) says the following of the Hebrew midwives who disobeyed the Pharaoh in refusing to kill Hebrew boy-children at birth:[14] “ Their disobedience herein was lawful, but their dissembling evil. ”
The very notion that the disobedience of a royal command might be a lawful act would be anathema to a king who believed that he ruled by divine right and answered only to God and not to any of his subjects.[4] The footnote for Exodus 1:22 (KJV) would surely have been worse: “ When tyrants cannot prevail by craft, they burst forth into open rage. ”
The firm belief of the editors of the Tolle Lege edition is that these marginal notes were the catalyst not only for the furtherance (such as it was) of the reformation in England, but also, and more to the point, for the political revolutions in the English-speaking world[2]–presumably beginning with the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and continuing with the American Revolution of 1776-83. They hold this belief even though the Geneva Bible ceased printing in 1644, long before William and Mary and more than a century before the American Revolution. Brown[4] points out that the Church of England retained all of the trappings and hierarchical structure of the Roman Catholic Church, the chief difference being that the Archbishop of Canterbury answered no longer to the Pope of Rome but directly to the British crown.

Brown’s essay is a scathing indictment of Kings James and Charles and of the Church of England that they headed. It is also flawed on account of the almost vitriolic argumentum ad hominem that Brown employs against James and his successors and allies. At the time of his writing, the Geneva Bible remained out of print, and this might have informed his bitterness. Whether he would have written a more refined essay had he known that the Geneva Bible would one day be published once again, is perhaps impossible to determine.

What does NESARA mandate?

What does NESARA mandate?

The illuminati controllers will do anything to prevent its implementation as it immediately spells their removals from political and economic control over the people and resources of this Planet. It requires full return to Constitutional and Common Law principles by 190 countries starting with the US. It involves — due to present fraudulent practices — mortgage debt forgiveness; cancellation of all credit card debt; student loan forgiveness; ends IRS collection of Income Tax and substitutes a National Sales Tax on non-essential items only with no tax on food, medicines or used goods. It requires all existing congressional/administrative heads to resign; all lawyers would have to take a 30 day Constitutional Law course as statute laws will be dissolved.
The world economic system will shift to transparent operations — Basel II was implemented in the month of April — precious metals backed currency and the federal reserve and its collection agent [IRS], and most corrupt alphabet agencies will be dissolved. Current Federal Reserve notes will be exchanged for US Treasury bills backed by Gold, Silver or precious metals on a $1 for $1 basis.
Special Trusts and 78 programs which were originally created by St Germain over 200 years ago for this time, will provide the means to offer free education to all and assist all in upgrading quality of life. Suppressed technologies, secretly being used by the controllers, will be made available to the public. These provide clean and unlimited power for home, industry and travel. Replicators will be made available with First Contact landings to provide most items.
There will be a worldwide re-indexing of currencies, 30 days after announcement, so that while you now receive $100 income and pay sales taxes and income taxes on that amount, you will only pay sales taxes on $10 when spent for non-essential items after re-indexing. This is to remove much of false inflation from the prices of goods caused by use of fiat money instead of precious metals backed currency.
Peace is a requirement and no more wars or nuclear weapons will be allowed. The methods and means to achieve this are already in place and can be implemented upon a single command.
A single molecular change in the nuclear process will make all existing nuclear processes benign. Galactic/human teams will clean up air, water, soil and toxic contamination in the first two months following Announcement. Polluting industries will no longer be necessary as their replacements will be non-polluting and the old plants will be removed by processes that re-cycle the energies.

Benefactor programs will become available and gifting programs are extensive and worldwide to ensure that all will experience unprecedented opportunity to make new choices for their future occupations and enhanced learning programs will be available to quickly upgrade or learn new skills. Diagnostic/healing methods and technologies will become available to reverse all medical conditions and restore optimal health. All these technologies and methods presently exist. Many others have been suppressed but will be brought forth for all to benefit from.
Our new financial foundation has already been laid and is being powered up now.  St Germain and Kuthumi are in charge of that aspect. Massive arrests and millions of Starships will be decloaking over all the major cities on the planet. That will be followed by direct broadcasts from all satellites…connected by nanites to the bridge of the New Jerusalem the Flagship of the Galactic Federation …with messages from Ashtar and Sananda.  First Contact landings will occur within 7-28 days following NESARA’s Announcement. This is why the NESARA Petition and the Disclosure Petition are intrinsically connected.
An interim government will be enplaced with full revelations of the truth about our origins and the galactic presence that has been actively kept from us for over 70 years. Everyone will be told what to expect next and all areas of life will be invited to participate and share in the abundance–free from credit card/mortgage/student loan debts…with NO IRS; NO war; all military brought home immediately and given positive new employment and educational options. Constitutional Common Law will be fully restored. Peace will be declared. Skies/water/air/land will be cleared of all toxic substances and all DNA is being raised to higher awareness. Everyone will experience an increase in quality of life…no matter what age.
Enhanced educational opportunities will become freely available along with enhanced medical care and a new worldwide communications system–’Internet 5′… will begin to replace existing communications systems. Zero pollution energy systems will become commonplace along with new transportation methods. New housing methods will quickly be introduced and congestion in cities will no longer be necessary as new transportation innovations will not require roads or petroleum products.
There will be a National Sales Tax payable only on NON-essentials, with food and medicines/medical treatments non-taxable. Within 30 days of NESARA’s Announcement there will be a worldwide re-indexing of currencies on a 1:10 ratio which will mean that a 10% sales tax on $100=$10 vs $1000 x 10%=$100…a major savings for each of us. This is needed to wring out the inflation caused by fiat/worthless paper currencies, worldwide.
These funds and others will result in the end all poverty on the planet within a 12-15 month period. That will then ensure that all will have the opportunity to receive spiritual education about who we all are; our purpose here as an expression of Source essence in physicality.

Got AMD? What about your smart meter?

Many people are interested in the issue of smart meters, and for good reason. Not only does a smart meter have a full time connection to the outside world via the cell phone network, but it also has direct access to the wiring in your house. Is this a cause for concern? I'd say definitely, and this article will outline the reasons why, and show you the security holes this obvious snooping device has introduced into your home or business.
It has been publicly stated that your smart meter has a one watt wifi transmitter and reciever in it (which is far beyond legal power for little people), as well as a full time 3g or better connection to the cell network which is always on. It is fully admitted that smart meters can communicate with appliances designed to do so, and that eventually all appliances will be able to communicate with it and receive instructions from the meter to modify their functioning on demand from a centralized control center.
Seemingly, to assuage fears, it is being stated that the smart meter only communicates with appliances in a minimal way, and I call B.S. on that. I call B.S. because "they" lie about everything. The diagram at this site, produced by processor manufacture ARM, (which has nothing to lose by telling it like it is), shows three wireless connectivity options per smart meter, PLUS an ability to communicate through the power system, as well as Ram, Rom, and Flash, complete with an ultra DMA hard drive controller (needed to provide storage to the flash memory) and FIVE CPU's TOTAL. ??!!??. It's a safe bet thatsuch extreme connectivity and CPU power, plus 3 memory options could only be needed for nefarious purposes. If your refrigerator is Wifi equipped (a ridiculous RF polluting waste) when it could simply receive commands through the wiring, your refrigerator, microwave, you name it, could also be equipped with audio and visual surveillance capabilities and have that ability remain perfectly hidden, all to be transmitted out through the smart meter. With advanced devices now available for less than $10 containing microphones and video sensors, as well as buttons and flash card support, the stated $10 cost of this so called wifi device that is to be put in all appliances could easily cover the cost of the sensors as well.
But a microphone and video sensor would be obvious, and therefore they would never do it, right? Well, no. After having worked for the NSA and learning the tricks, I played around a LOT with common components no one would ever think could be used for snooping that work EXCELLENT. The most surprising of all is electronic beepers that use simple piezo drivers. The piezo element, never associated with anything other than an ability to beep makes an astonishing microphone. When properly coupled to a microphone amplifier (totally free to do at zero cost nowadays) a beeper element can be used to hear through the walls and into a detached neighboring house. That is not an exaggeration. Piezo elements are unbelievably powerful microphones, as are high impedance conventional magnetic speakers. They outperform all microphones hands down, and provide such strong input that they have to be strongly attenuated to be useful. So if your microwave or refrigerator has any ability to beep, and it is smart meter compliant, you can safely bet that it has ears that can hear you whisper from behind a closed door.

Nowadays, any device that can accept remote control commands can easily conceal a camera

My first introduction to this was with 1980's vintage Scientific Atlanta cable TV boxes (the standard back then) which all came fully equipped with CCD sensors concealed in the remote sensor, and microphones. If you can get your hands on one of them, take it apart and look. I have seen this myself. If you have ever wondered why so many open channels were available on these cable boxes, it is because the unused channels could be accessed and used in reverse to snoop. And towards the end of their dominance these boxes still cost more than basic cable ready televisions, possibly because that CCD sensor was not cheap. What about your TV nowadays? I have not taken apart any HD televisions for a look, but knowing what happened in the past I'd say it will be a safe bet that many of these televisions will have the ability to use their remote sensor as a camera, and speakers as microphones. It's an obvious no brainer. Throw a smart meter into the mix, and there is your outgoing connection.

But WAIT, there's more!

What about the obvious ability to send signals to appliances via the home's wiring - what are the limits?
I never paid attention to this in the past, and had to take a look at the guts of one of the circuit breakers that are used in homes to do this report. These circuit breakers use an electromagnet to trip, and pass all the current that gets delivered though the breaker through that electromagnet. When the current gets high enough, the magnet pulls hard enough and trips the breaker. So I knew the frequency you could send through a breaker would be limited by this electromagnet, which will operate as a choke because it has a coil with a magnetically attractive core, which will further increase the ability of that coil to stop high frequencies from passing. Question is, how much would it really choke off the signal from a smart meter?
I no longer have my inductance meter after the Fuku report, so I cannot put it in a formula. However, I can make a guess based on experience and how things look. And my guess is that you won't get megabits to pass through it, but that it would be safe to assume you could easily get a 256 kbps connection through any household circuit breaker. Why would that be important, when wifi is megabits? Well, let me explain
Remember the dialup days, when 57.6 was the norm? How about five times that? Was it impossible to surf the web way back in the early days when the standard was 14.4? 14.4 actually worked pretty good. And even 500 baud will exceed the speed of the fastest typist. So I'd say 256kbps would represent a serious security problem if you have a power supply in your computer which can accept power line commands, switch on your hardware in secret, and raid you. I don't think this is a reality nowadays, but I do not know it is not either, and it's a safe bet with the government getting more and more snoopy that this will be a way to get into the most secure of computer systems. Forget about avoiding a CoreVPro processor, which has built in 3g, forget about removing all wifi and bluetooth - the final holy grail of information gathering would be a direct power line grab. You can bet they are working on it and your friendly smart meter will play a key role.

The following got wiped and I had to retype it, they obviously do not like the punch line . . . .

I am going to make a prediction here - that in the future, the very NEAR future, the only way you will keep a system secure is to have it run off an inverter bank, separated from the wall with a non electronic old transformer style battery charger constantly charging a battery. Filtering the smart meter signal while running directly off the line would have limited effect - If you used the right choke setup you could limit the smart meter baud rate to below 500 before you messed up the power factor too badly to run a PC, but even a 500 baud connection would only slow things down for the snoops. With patience (and they have a lot) they could at least raid every text file off your machine, 500 baud would allow them to nail 1 kilobyte of data in approximately 18 seconds (slower than actual baud because of parity checking and other technicalities, but the answer is still clear - filtering will not be good enough. The only answer is a complete isolated disconnect from the grid.)
UPS power supplies and ordinary surge protectors will not be good enough, because surge protectors wont' filter the type of signal a smart meter would produce, and a UPS could be rigged to bypass the signal from the computer directly to the line while feeding the computer inverter power. On top of this a majority of UPS power supplies do not run full time inverter anyway. Normally they keep you connected to the main and switch you over to inverter very rapidly when the power goes out, before the capacitors in your computer's power supply run out of juice. The fact that UPS power supplies normally keep you directly connected, as well as the fact that UPS power supplies usually have processors that could pass the smart meter signal along to your PC anyway makes UPS power supplies an un acceptable method of blocking snooping via the power line. The only option is an old or totally brainless 1980's style car battery charger, a battery, and a standalone inverter if data security really is that important.
I suggest governments and businesses take what I said here to heart and apply it, the ability to snoop via the power line against high priority targets is definitely possible, and definitely will be done in the future (and against the highest priority targets, is definitely happening now.) If you value your privacy, I'd implement these security measures now.
Even if you have your wifi "turned off", it is not turned off. There is a separate channel that always stays open and sniffs out all available connections. And if your computer has been bugged to begin with, it will, through this back door channel, connect to any available wifi network hidden or not, and send everything you type or do straight to the NSA. And this connection will also allow "PC anywhere" type remote access to your machine. I had problems with this last night because I forgot to pull the wifi card out of the laptop I was working with, and someone went straight in and destroyed several hours of work on a machine that runs Linux and never screws up. Am I just paranoid?
