Health - Antibiotic Facts You Must Know This Season

Antibiotic Facts You Must Know This Season

I was on a flight recently and as I sat there quietly reading my book, I
swear I heard someone on the plane cough, sneeze or blow their nose every 15 seconds.

Yes indeed, the change of seasons is upon us...and that means colds, bugs and infections.
And LOTS of antibiotics being prescribed.
Although antibiotics are helpful in certain cases, there are major concerns popping up about them that cannot be ignored.
Here's what I mean:
According to a recent study published in the journal "Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy," in the 10-year period between 2000-2010, E. coli has become five times more resistant to Cipro (the most commonly prescribed antibiotic for urinary tract infections).
For you non-math majors, that means that it's basically worthless as a treatment at this point.
And since E. coli is responsible for between 75-95% of all urinary tract infections, that's not good news for people with an infection in their plumbing.
Because it means that people who get a UTI will now need even STRONGER antibiotics (which can cause nausea and vomiting) to treat the infection, and quite possibly even be hospitalized if the infection gets severe enough.
Even though you might find this news unsettling, it should be no surprise.
Here's why I say that:

What's going on with antibiotics?
Since Sir Alexander Fleming first noticed that the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus could be destroyed by the mold Penicillium notatum back in 1928, antibiotics have become one of the most significant medical advances known to man.
Truly, many people are still alive because of them, instead of succumbing to life-threatening infections.
But the problems started when the medical community started prescribing them increasingly--even when the patient's illness was actually VIRAL and not an infection.
At that time, a common attitude was that, in case the illness WAS an infection, giving the antibiotics would be a good "head start" on treatment...and if not, oh well. They won't do any harm.
Uh, not quite. That way of thinking has come back to bite us you-know-where. (More on that below.)
In addition, antibiotics also began to be prescribed prophylactically (on a preventative basis) to help prevent and control conditions like chronic ear infections, sinus infections and even acne.
But that had a price tag too, as we would later see...

The price of too many antibiotics
One problem with the overprescribing of antibiotics is that harmful bacteria are no dummies--they're actually very smart and can eventually adapt, thereby becoming resistant to the drug's "killing" action.
So that means the pharmaceutical "Superhero" suddenly becomes as useless as a wet noodle against a potentially dangerous condition.
This is what has happened with E. coli and Cipro (and many others).
Another concern is that antibiotics are like a bomb, "blowing up" everything within their radius.
That means that while they obliterate the infection-causing bacteria, they also kill the beneficial bacteria in your body...
And those bacteria comprise 70-80% of your immune system!
Without a healthy population of friendly bacteria from a strong immune system to keep them "in check," any number of harmful microbes can thrive inside of you and make you very, VERY sick.

The vicious cycle of repeated infections
You may be wondering, "What's the problem? After all, won't my beneficial bacteria just grow back?"
Hmmm...not necessarily.
You see, your friendly bacteria typically recover more slowly than harmful bacteria. That means the harmful bacteria can quickly regain the "upper hand," grow out of control in your gut, and overwhelm the friendly bacteria that are trying to survive and multiply.
So chances are excellent that you will get yet ANOTHER infection or illness, and you know what that means...
Even MORE antibiotics.
And you're back at square one.
This is why so many people (maybe even you?) are on repeated courses of antibiotics but never seem to get any better.

Break free of the cycle
If you've taken antibiotics for a long time or even just recently, chances are excellent that your population of beneficial bacteria (your immune system) is practically non-existent.
And you're a very attractive home to any number of illnesses.
But there are two every effective ways you can help turn that around and beef up your friendly flora.
1- With your diet
Whatever you eat, your gut inhabitants eat too. But different types of bacteria have different food preferences.
Depending on your food choices, certain bacteria will feast while others go hungry. So your diet is a HUGE factor in controlling the microflora balance in your intestines and thus your immune system.
You see, harmful bacteria LOVE refined carbohydrates and sugars. They gorge and multiply like rabbits, while your beneficial bacteria (that are nourished by things like vegetables and whole grains) starve and die.
So to help keep your beneficial gut bacteria fed and happy, it's crucial to follow the principles in the Great Taste No Pain system.
Great Taste No Pain is not a diet--it is an eating lifestyle that stresses real foods (that your friendly flora loves) and shows you how to combine your foods for efficient digestion (so you nourish your flora AND say goodbye to gas, bloating, constipation, etc.).
And Great Taste No Pain delivers on the "Great Taste" promise. All of the dishes in the recipe book are delicious so your tongue will be happy too!
You can read about the Great Taste No Pain system here

2- With supplementation
A high-quality, multi-strain probiotic formula like Super Shield can help beef up your population of beneficial bacteria in these three different ways:
1. Selective nutrition
Super Shield contains FOS (fructo-oligosaccharides) which are a fiber that is nourishment for friendly bacteria, but cannot be digested by harmful bacteria.

2. Natural antibiotics
Many probiotic bacteria produce their own "natural antibiotics."
These are not the typical antibiotics we're used to--they safely inhibit the growth of, and can actually kill, many harmful bacteria.
Also, as probiotics digest their food, their metabolic by-products can have negative effects on harmful competitors. For example, when probiotics digest fiber, they release acids that are similar to vinegar. And yeasts (like Candida) don't grow well in the presence of these acids.

3. The crowded parking lot
In addition to probiotics killing harmful bacteria, after they do, the probiotic bacteria in Super Shield take over the "parking spaces" along your intestinal walls formerly taken up by the bad guys.
If bacteria aren't snugly attached to your intestinal wall, or are now dead, they can get swept away by peristalsis (the muscle contractions during digestion that move your food along).
So the more strong probiotics you can get to fill up your "intestinal parking lot" the greater the chance of harmful bacteria getting escorted out when you have a bowel movement.
Learn more about Super Shield and all the ways it can help you here.

If you've taken antibiotics in the past or are currently on them, it's essential to counteract the harm that they cause to your system.
Yes, they're a medical miracle, but that miracle does not come without a hefty price tag.
Do all you can to keep your population of beneficial bacteria high and your immune system strong.
Let Great Taste No Pain and Super Shield be your formula for great health and fighting infections from within.
To your health,

2012 SCENARIO UPDATE

French business erupts in fury against "disastrous" François Hollande

French business erupts in fury against "disastrous" François Hollande

France is sliding into a grave economic crisis and risks a full-blown “hurricane” as investors flee rocketing tax rates, the country’s business federation has warned.

“The situation is very serious. Some business leaders are in a state of quasi-panic,” said Laurence Parisot, head of employers’ group MEDEF.
“The pace of bankruptcies has accelerated over the summer. We are seeing a general loss of confidence by investors. Large foreign investors are shunning France altogether. It’s becoming really dramatic.”
MEDEF, France’s equivalent of the CBI, said the threat has risen from “a storm warning to a hurricane warning”, adding that the Socialist government of François Hollande has yet to understand the “extreme gravity” of the crisis.
The immediate bone of contention is Article 6 of the new tax law, which raises the top rate of capital gains tax from 34.5pc to 62.2pc. This compares with 21pc in Spain, 26.4pc in Germany and 28pc in Britain.
“Let’s be clear, Article 6 is not acceptable, even if modified. We will not be complicit in a disastrous economic mistake,” Mrs Parisot told Le Figaro.
An alliance of private organisations in France has issued a protest entitled “State of Emergency for Business”, warning that confiscatory tax rates threaten lasting damage to the French economy.
Mrs Parisot said the policies border on economic illiteracy: “The idea of aligning taxes on capital with those on wages is a profound economic error. It is scandalous that the French have been left in such economic ignorance for years.”
French business has called for “competiveness shock” of business tax cuts to claw back lost ground against Germany. Instead, it faces an extra €10bn (£8.1bn) of business costs from the budget unveiled in September.
Mr Hollande is tightening fiscal policy by 2pc of GDP next year to meet EU deficit targets, with two-thirds coming from higher taxes. The budget does little to shrink the French state. Spending has risen to 55pc of GDP, similar to Sweden but without Nordic labour flexibility.
French economic growth has been near zero for the past five quarters. It may have tipped into recession over the summer as the malaise spread from Italy and Spain, according to Banque de France.
New car registrations were down 7.7pc in the third quarter from a year earlier. Unemployment has been creeeping up, reaching a post-euro high of 10.6pc.
The fear is that a fiscal shock in 2013 will tip the economy into a sharp downward slide. “France needs more fiscal austerity right now like a hole in the head,” said sovereign debt strategist Nicholas Spiro.
“They don’t have any chance of meeting their growth target of 0.8pc next year, but that does not in itself put French debt at risk.
“The real danger is contagion if things turn ugly in Spain.”
Finance minister Pierre Moscovici has hinted at a shift in policy, saying there may have to be a “reorientation” of the eurozone’s fiscal strategy. “The people are not going to like Europe if it can’t offer growth,” he said.
Mr Hollande has promised reforms to the labour market next year but MEDEF remains sceptical.
Mrs Parisot said business feels deeply unloved and is “in revolt across the country”.

Ross Perot endorses Mitt Romney

Ross Perot endorses Mitt Romney

Ross Perot, the businessman who mounted the last major challenge to the two-party political system, said Tuesday he is backing Mitt Romney for president this year.
Mr. Perot's 1992 campaign elevated the budget deficit to the forefront of politics, and six years later the federal government notched its first surplus in decades.
"At stake is nothing less than our position in the world, our standard of living at home and our constitutional freedoms," Mr. Perot said in a statement released by the Romney campaign. "That is why I am endorsing Mitt Romney in his quest for the presidency. We can't afford four more years in which national debt mushrooms out of control, our government grows, and our military is weakened. Mitt has the background, experience, intelligence and integrity to turn things around. He has my absolute support."
Like Mr. Romney this year, Mr. Perot made the argument in 1992 that the country needed a businessman to take control and execute a turnaround.
Mr. Perot also wrote an op-ed for the Des Moines Register laying out his thinking. He called the economy "stagnant" and pointed to the same deficit trajectory that pushed him to enter the race in 1992.
"It is this massive deficit spending that threatens to undermine our future standard of living. To pay for our government's massive debts, Washington's profligacy, our children and grandchildren will be paying interest and principal on the nation's debt for untold years into the future. That is wrong. It's not the way America ought to be," he wrote.

Being a distributor Of Blessings

10/16/12

I will share with you a Word that was given to me personally. As I think on what is spoken I am reminded that this is something that God has been speaking to us over and over again. We tend to neglect or forget previously spoken words. Most of the time these words are for a time or season. God always prepares us for what is ahead, by getting us ready for change far ahead of the time. When we receive instructions from Him and we can't comprehend them in the here and now, that is when we have to have faith and trust. We fight and war with those prophetic promises, not dismiss them. That's why we must continually be renewing our minds, so we don't neglect the Word. We must believe that Father knows best. We should be a discerning people and know the times and the seasons that we are in, or at least listen to those that are anointed and stand in the office as the sons of Issachar did; "And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment." (1 Chron. 12:32).

Listen:
I have declared to you once and again to come to the place that you owe no one anything other than to love them. This is a position of authority and power that I desire for My children to hold for the set days ahead.

As you are released from the bondage's of debt, then you will be free to obey Me in areas of being a distributor and a wise steward.

I long for you to have One Master, not many. For as you walk free from the entanglements of this world's system then you will be free to do the Kingdom's business. You will not be lorded over by the god of this world and its system, mammon. You can not serve two masters, you will be disloyal to one, and I must have loyalty. These three spirits are always trying to ensnare My children to keep them restrained from following My ways freely, they are the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. They attach themselves to My people in varying degrees and numerous ways. Their assignment is to bring deception and they attempt to beguile My chosen ones into making choices based on feelings. I need you to be undivided and un-distracted, able to hear and obey, without open doors to hearken to the voice of mammon, whether it will work for you, or you having to work for it. Do not be entangled with these ways. I Am more than enough! I have delivered and set you free to obey My Word, but you can become entangled again by your own choices. I have always given you the choice. Choose wisely. Choose to stay free, for this is the season and the reason that I brought you out of the bondage's of this system. Many have run back because they did not understand the purpose of this freedom. Listen carefully, there is coming a turnaround, in a few years you will see clearly why I have pursued you to be free from your dependency on this system. It has been slowly deteriorating. I have allowed the slow descent in order to preserve you alive and free as many of My deliverers for this season. If you let Me, I will set you up as My Joseph's in the days coming upon the face of the earth.

You will experience for yourselves a jubilee that will overflow into every arena of your life, spiritually, physically, financially, and especially in your soul. This world will be forced to release all that they have kept from the ones who have chosen to faithfully obey Me and My Word. I will plentifully reward the obedient ones and those that have used the talents that I have entrusted to them. It will be the best of times for those who have hearkened diligently to Me, even while others experience the worst of times. Choose wisely now, for it will affect your immediate future! You will be even as My son Isaac, who prospered in the time of famine, because he obeyed My voice. The ones who hear and do My Word are blessed. You will lack no good thing and will be above only. Because you have humbled yourself in obedience, I will now exalt you, and cause you to experience the "true riches", which are not dependent on anything of this world. Now, I Am given you a space to loose yourself from any and all other masters of this worlds system. Ask of Me and I will show marvelous ways to walk in the freedom of obedience and then you will allow Me to position you for the glorious days of My Church triumphant!

"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in)." (Matt. 6:24)
"A good man leaves an inheritance [of moral stability and goodness] to his children’s children, and the wealth of the sinner [finds its way eventually] into the hands of the righteous, for whom it was laid up." (Prov. 13:22)
"Render to all men their dues. [Pay] taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, and honor to whom honor is due. Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law [relating to one’s fellowmen, meeting all its requirements]." (Rom. 13:7-8)
"No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier." (2 Tim. 2:4)

This is NOT the time for write in vote

For those that talk about the write in for Ron Paul which could take votes away from Mitt Romney thereby allow Obama to win especially in such a close race as happened in 1992 when Ross Perot ran and allowed Bill Clinton to win.

If Obama wins a second term, our country and Republic is lost.

Ross Perot today came out and endorsed Mitt Romney. The thrust HAS to be to defeat Obama. Remember in the change over there will be an interim president for 6 months until a new election can be held. Ron Paul for years has been touted as the interim president with Dennis Kucinich as VP., so you would still get Ron Paul as president. Realize also that all states DO NOT allow write ins, so being able to write in in only SOME states will not give Ron Paul enough wins in enough states to win the electoral college vote. The write in issue though laudable can have disastrous results.

Don't drink the water!

 Hello All:
Here is something every one should read for their Health. It concerns the Fluoride in your water.              God Bless  Love to all Smile Red rose Red heart

2012 October 16                         from G. Edward Griffin

Don't drink the water!
Back in the 1960s I began to gather data on the dangers of fluoride in public water systems. It was my intent to produce a documentary film to counter the mis-information in the media and from the American Dental Association to the effect that fluoride was, not only safe, but effective in the control of cavities in children's teeth. The title I had chosen for the film wasDon't Drink the Water!

Hydrofluoric acid is added to public water systems in the U.S. but is banned in many other countries. Fluoride compounds are among the most hazardous chemicals known to man. Hydrofluoric acid will eat through concrete, metal, glass, and flesh. These men are wearing hazmat suits to protect themselves from an accidental spill at a water plant.

My research showed a different story: Fluoride in public water, in tooth paste, in processed food, and even in bottled water is slowly killing people, causing debilitating diseases in the process, such as cancer and Alzheimer's. To add insult to injury, instead of preventing childhood caries, it causes discoloration and weakening of their teeth. My files soon were bulging with scientific studies proving that all of this was true but, like so many other topics, the documentary was never produced due to lack of funding.
You can imagine my delight when I learned that Paul Wittenberger and Chris Maple had produced the documentary I never completed. It is called The Great Culling – Our Water, and it is excellent in every way. It turns out, however, that they didn't have funding, either! The difference is that, where I put the project on hold pending that hopeful day when money would be available, they impetuously plunged ahead using their credit. They wound up in the hole by about $40,000. That is commendable in terms of getting the job done, but it's not a great business model in terms of getting the bills paid.
FINAL CALL FOR HELP
That's where I came into the act. I still feel a personal connection to this story and I know how important it is to get the information out with no further delay, so I offered to present the funding issue to everyone on my mailing list in hopes that enough money could be raised to clear their debts. This is the third and final call for help.

At this time, Paul and Chris are about one-fourth of the way to their goal, but they are not discouraged. They are going to meet their release deadline of October 19 no matter what, which means they could be in debt for quite a while. For my part, I have committed to cover the manufacture of both the standard DVD and Blu-Ray versions, so we definitely will have programs to ship on October 19 – just four days from now.

Powdered turmeric has been used for centuries to treat a host of illnesses. Its active ingredient, curcumin, inhibits inflammatory reactions, has anti-diabetic effects, reduces cholesterol among other powerful health effects. A new study led by a research team at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitat (LMU) in Munich now shows that it can also inhibit formation of metastases.

Bank of  Japan - IMF High-Level Seminar

“Challenges of the Global Financial System: Risks and Governance under Evolving Globalization”

Opening Remarks By Christine Lagarde, Managing Director, International Monetary Fund

Tokyo, October 14, 2012   As prepared for delivery

Good afternoon. I would like to welcome you to our seminar. When I first looked at the list of panelists and > keynote speakers, I realized that the title of today’s event is a bit of an understatement. This is not just a        “high-level” seminar. It truly is a seminar at the highest level, given the caliber of our participants.

Of  course, this event would not have been possible without the collaboration of the Bank of Japan. And I would like to thank Governor Shirakawa and his staff for their hard work and generous hospitality.  I will talk briefly about two things:

i) key financial stability risks and
(ii) the role of global cooperation and governance.

I.  Financial stability risks

The global economy may be fraught with uncertainty, but the underlying trend towards financial globalization  is likely to continue. The alternative—financial de-globalization—is hard to imagine and difficult to achieve. It would be akin to persuading a billion people not to use Facebook. Connectedness—through trade, social media, and finance—simply is a fact of modern life.

So, the good news is that highly interconnected financial markets have the potential to allocate capital more efficiently across borders. The bad news is that we know it also raises the latent risks of financial instability and we have yet to fully understand these negative implications.

The crisis exposed the fragility of this tangled financial web, which connects markets, banks, sovereigns, corporates, and households. You will be discussing financial stability risks in Session

I. Let me highlight three.

 • First, accommodative monetary policies in many advanced economies are likely to spur large and volatile capital flows to emerging economies. This could strain the capacity of these economies to absorb the potentially large flows and could lead to overheating, asset price bubbles, and the build-up of financial imbalances.

We have been working on refining our institutional view on the liberalization and management of capital flows from the perspective of countries that receive and those that generate capital flows. Indeed, I have had useful discussions on these important issues with several policymakers this past week.

 • Second, five years into the crisis, the financial system still worries me. There has been significant progress on regulatory reforms aimed at making markets and institutions more transparent, less complex, and less leveraged. But the job is not done yet. Many financial systems remain vulnerable, too complex, and overly reliant on a small number of large (and growing) institutions. Further efforts are needed to refine and implement these reforms. Worryingly, the collective energy to do just that is fading.

 • Third, a growing number of government bonds are no longer considered “safe” or “risk- free.” We are all too well aware of the high debt legacy of the crisis and doubts about the creditworthiness of some governments. Safe haven flows into certain asset classes and markets could be a source of systemic financial risk.

II. Global cooperation and governance So, how can we foster effective global cooperation and governance to address the challenges of increasing financial interconnectedness? In the second half of our seminar, we will have an opportunity to examine the evolving international financial architecture. The close collaboration between the G20, the Financial Stability Board, and the IMF is a key part of this.

We are working together to improve the monitoring and mitigation of systemic risk. The question is: does the current framework ensure an appropriate balance between the global public good—that is financial stability—and the legitimate self-interest of sovereign states?

Right now, there are divergent views within and across countries on several important issues, including the management of capital flows. Disagreements may be unavoidable, but we must not forget that we all have a stake in global financial stability. It is important for us to stay at the table and work through these issues.

Another key aspect of the new financial architecture is the role of central banks. The crisis has prompted a fundamental reassessment of their macroeconomic and macro-prudential responsibilities.

We have seen several bold initiatives by major central banks, including—most recently—the Bank of Japan’s expanded Asset Purchase Program, QE3 by the U.S. Federal Reserve, and the European Central Bank’s OMT bond-purchasing program.

These are big policy actions in the right direction. Indeed, central bankers must play a significant role in pulling the global economy out of the current malaise but they cannot do it alone. Fiscal and structural policies must also pull their weight.

It remains unclear whether the expanded role of central banks is here to stay and the potential impact on their independence and credibility in the long run. Given the cross-border spillover effects of monetary policy decisions, central banks may need to step up their international dialogue and cooperation.

Conclusion When I think of cooperation and determination, I often think of Japan—of the Japanese people who have demonstrated, time and again, a steely collective resolve in the face of natural disasters.

The global financial crisis was a man-made disaster whose financial and human costs require that same steely, collective resolve across the globe—by authorities, financial institutions, multilateral organizations, and even the markets themselves.

Together, we will must repair, reboot and revamp the financial system. Together, we will create a safer financial system that is a source of stability, not fragility, and that can serve the economy to support growth and jobs.
