Did you know that 1 in 3 Americans has a medically diagnosed condition that technically isn't even an "illness" at all?
But the mere mention of it conjures up fear and panic among young and old alike, even though the average person isn't even 100% sure exactly what it is.
According to the CDC, it's currently the #1 most commonly diagnosed condition at a doctor's visit in the US.
And is it ever an enormous cash cow for the drug companies!
I'm talking about hypertension, aka high blood pressure.
Now, before you get all nervous, get your arm squeezed in that vice called a blood pressure cuff and get in line for your medication, you really need to know the fact vs. hype about hypertension.
Because not only does high blood pressure NOT necessarily mean a health problem, but even if yours is high and there is a rightful concern, there are safe, natural ways to help lower it.
Read on--you can't afford to miss a word of this.
Blood pressure--What is it really?
Your blood pressure is a measure of the force of your blood against the inner walls of your arteries.
It's a reflection of how hard your heart has to work to pump your blood through your body. If more effort is necessary by your heart to move your blood around, your higher your blood pressure will be.
Blood pressure is recorded as two numbers -- the systolic (top number) pressure as your heart beats, and the diastolic (bottom number) pressure as it relaxes between beats.
Illness vs. risk factor
Hypertension is a risk factor--meaning that it (along with SEVERAL other factors) may suggest you are at an increased risk for a heart attack or stroke.
The reason it can be a cardiovascular risk factor for some people is because a repeated strong force of blood pushing against the artery walls can cause little tears or weakening in the vessel, which can lead to inflammation.
Your body senses these tears and inflammation and sends its "healing glue" -- white blood cells and LDL cholesterol -- to the rescue. This is actually a normal thing and it's how your body repairs itself.
But the problem arises when the inflammation becomes long-term and chronic. That's when you may get accumulation of cholesterol, then eventually hardening of the arteries and become a heart disease risk.
So really it's chronic inflammation -- more so than just a blood pressure number -- that is the real culprit behind the danger.
The total picture
High blood pressure doesn't just happen out of nowhere--it's influenced by a number of factors that include:
* Genetics--A tendency to have higher blood pressure may run in families and is not necessarily an indicator of poor health.
* Biochemical individuality--Higher blood pressure is perfectly normal for some people. We're all biochemically unique and some people's blood pressure just naturally runs a little higher by design.
* The sodium-potassium pump--Sodium and potassium work together in about a 1:7 ratio (sodium to potassium) to regulate the energy in all of your cells. When this ratio is upset (as SO many people's are due to our reliance on high-salt, low-potassium processed foods) high blood pressure can result (along with several diseases).
* Medications--Steroids, pain relievers, diet pills, antidepressants and oral contraceptives can ALL raise blood pressure.
* Stress--When you're under stress, your body releases the hormones adrenaline and cortisol, which is a reflection of the "fight or flight" programming from our caveman days. These hormones cause your heart to beat faster and your blood vessels to narrow, which can raise blood pressure.
* Age--Higher blood pressure is a common occurrence with aging and does not necessarily indicate a problem.
* Smoking--The nicotine in tobacco products causes decreased oxygen to your heart, constricts your blood vessels and increases your heart rate and blood pressure.
* Acid waste buildup--having excess acid wastes in your bloodstream (from poor digestion) can rob your blood of oxygen and make your heart have to work harder to pump it through your system, which can result in elevated blood pressure.
Many different causes but just ONE answer?
As you can see, the reasons for elevations in blood pressure can run the gamut, and I've only listed a few here.
So wouldn't it make sense that if someone is concerned about elevated blood pressure, they should look at the possible causes and address those instead of just blindly taking medication like all the rest of the sheep?
But alas, my friend, the drug companies don't want you to make sense. They want you to keep buying their chemicals by the tankerful.
Thanks to their efforts to pressure the medical community and their creative marketing, blood pressure is now seen as a dangerous monster that MUST be treated with drugs no matter WHO you are or what your circumstances may be.
That means that anyone whose blood pressure equals or exceeds the "normal" threshold of 120/80 gets labeled as follows:
120/80 to 139/89: Prehypertension
140/90 to 159/99: Stage 1 hypertension
160/100 and higher: Stage 2 hypertension
Big Pharma LOVES this, because it means billions of dollars each and every year in drugs that many people likely don't need -- at ALL.
Make your HEALTH richer -- NOT the drug companies!
As you can see, high blood pressure is NOT a one-size-fits-all, inevitable-gloom-and-doom situation.
Yes, it can be a risk factor in certain instances...but you can do SO much to help bring your blood pressure down safely and naturally by addressing the factors that are present in your life that are raising it to begin with!
Here are some of the very best ways you can make a huge difference in those numbers of yours:
1) Stop smoking
High blood pressure is yet ANOTHER great reason to put this deadly habit behind you for good.
There are a LOT of suggestions and information out there on where to start and what you can do. Here's a good site that may help:

2) Exercise
Just like giving up the "cancer sticks," getting regular exercise is another HUGE bang for your buck health measure.
Not only does exercise help relieve stress, but it strengthens all of your muscles including your heart, and helps eliminate acid wastes and toxins--all of which can bring that blood pressure number down.
And let's not forget exercise's other major benefit--those excess pounds can start to disappear before your very eyes!
3) Make the switcheroo
If you're on a medication that causes high blood pressure, it's time to talk to your doctor about safer alternatives...or see if it's possible to lower your dose or get off of them altogether.
4) Make food your medicine
Having a diet of real (not processed) foods and eating meals that digest efficiently can help eliminate acid wastes in your system and help ensure you get the nutrients (including the all-important potassium) your body needs.
Plus less reliance on processed foods means you naturally get less sodium.
ALL of which can bring your blood pressure down!
In the Great Taste No Pain health system, I'll teach you everything you need to know to accomplish this.
In Great Taste No Pain, there are simple step-by-step guides that tell you exactly what to eat (and what not to eat) and how to structure your meals to minimize health-wrecking acid wastes.
With fewer acid wastes clogging up your bloodstream, your heart can have a much easier time pumping blood through your system.
And you'll get the benefit of better nutrient absorption, which can help make sure your body has what it needs to function optimally from head to toe.
5) Curb inflammation with Omega-3 fatty acids
Omega-3 essential fatty acids have shown to be an effective tool to help fight high blood pressure in these 2 ways:
1- Omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help counteract any inflammation you might currently have building up in your arteries.
and
2- They help keep blood clots from forming by reducing the stickiness in your platelets and curbing the production of fibrinogens--protein strands that can get tangled up with platelets and result in a clot.
As a matter of fact, they've been medically PROVEN to help lower blood pressure. Studies show that daily Omega-3 supplementation alone can lower your systolic (the top number) pressure by five points or more and your diastolic (the bottom number) pressure by three points or more!
Unfortunately, our typicCspan style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.0pt;">Now you are armed with the information you really need to help achieve and maintain a healthy blood pressure for you w So most people in developed countries are seriously deficient in this crucial nutrient.
So one of the best ways to engage this natural anti-inflammatory and help fight high blood pressure is to take a very high-quality fish oil supplement.
And for outstanding quality, look no further than VitalMega-3.
VitalMega-3 gives delivers 1,200 mg. of these essential nutrients (including the all-important EPA and DHA) in the same pristine form you'd get directly from the fish themselves.
Now you are armed with the information you really need to help achieve and maintain a healthy blood pressure for you without breaking the bank and without taking dangerous chemicals.
And when your doctor tells you your readings have gone down, write to me and let me know!
To your health,
Sherry Brescia
PS: Lynn's blood pressure came right down and so did her back & knee pain!
Hi Sherry,
I felt my case was insignificant so was not going to write as I have always felt extremely well, but looking back from November last year I have lost 17 kgs (the reason I signed up for your eating plan).
I am 60 years old and everything else I tried to reduce my weight over the years has failed!
I had a doctor's appointment to be put on blood pressure medication and was dreading it, but low and behold my blood pressure was absolutely normal after following your eating plan.
I have also realized that I have stopped popping pain relief pills for lower back pain, and the pain in my knees has completely disappeared.
So thank you Sherry. For me 60 is the new 40.
Keep up the great work, as I certainly share it with everybody.
Lynn M.
