Your OpenMedia.ca team has been working hard and
winning big to secure Canada’s digital future. We’ve come a long way, but
there’s still more we must do. Today we’re launching our crucial year-end
fundraising drive. We’re a community-backed organization – your monthly contributions are what make our work possible. Will you consider becoming a valued OpenMedia.ca monthly donor Ally today? |
That’s exactly why powerful interests want to control, monitor, and censor your access to the open Internet. They’re hoping we’ll tire out and let them get back to business as usual.
Thanks to your support, we’ve fought back to protect the open Internet. Here’s some of what we’ve done together:
- Thrown
a huge wrench into the TPP’s secretive and invasive Internet censorship
plan.1 With the sustained pressure of over 120,000
community members, Canada is pushing back against extreme U.S. proposals.
- Won
new customer-protection rules that have made it easier for you to
switch to a more affordable cell phone provider, support independent
telecom options, and protect us all from ridiculous roaming charges –
the next steps after our success against metered Internet billing.2
3
- Stood
up to the Government’s costly, secretive, and out-of-control spying on
innocent citizens after successfully defeating
Vic Toews’ earlier online spying plan.4
They’ve got millions of dollars in advertising budgets, lobbyists, and campaign contributions-- We have you, our pro-Internet community. Together, we are stronger. Your human-sized monthly contribution is the most powerful way to help OpenMedia protect our digital future. We can do this but we need your help now to move forward.
Thank you for all that you’ve done and will do,
Steve, on behalf of your OpenMedia.ca team
P.S. We all have a choice. Stand up to protect and expand our digital rights, or sit down and accept what Big Media lobbyists, greedy Big Telecom, and secret spies have in store for us. Will you let them win? Stand with us as a monthly ally today.
