Do
YOU ever stop to read the signs? Emotional campaign to break down stereotypes
reveals 'new generation of homeless' to be athletes and even robot builders
It's easy
and common to presume that the people living in boxes on the streets are a
product of their own poor decisions.
Sometimes
its also true.
But a new
campaign is attempting to breakdown the stereotypes usually associated with the
homeless and show that, in a post-recession economy, losing your home happens
to everyday people.
Rethink
Homelessness is the product of nonprofit organization Impact Homelessness
centered around a video filmed in Orlando.

Florida is one of six in the US
with a homeless population above 6 percent of the total population
There are
over 47,000 homeless people in Florida - about 8 percent of the total U.S.
homeless population - and it is also considered the most dangerous state for
people who don't have stable staple, according to The Huffington Post.
Shockingly,
on any given night in the United States there are 633,782 people experiencing
homelessness, according to The National Alliance to End Homelessness.
Rather
than tell a story of how they got into their situation, the video features
individuals with facts about themselves written on cardboard signs.
These
facts break down the idea that homeless people are hopeless, showing the people
- all of which are actually homeless - to be educated, athletic or ill.
One man
claims to have 'built robots'.

Impact Homelessness believes its
message of compassion and understanding can prompt positive change
'Since the
recession began, the face of homelessness has been changing,' the organization's
Facebook page reads.
'From
school children to the elderly, from the barely employed to the victims of
abuse ... homelessness can affect anyone ... unless we all come together to
make a difference.'
