Millennials Asked About True Meaning of Independence Day… Get Ready To CRINGE

There are plenty of reasons for anyone over 30 to be apprehensive about millennials. The narcissism of selfie culture. Facebook posts that begin with the words, “Only 90s babies will get this.” The inexplicable success of that “Now watch me whip / now watch me nae nae” song.

All of that was enough to view millennials with a mixture of fear and loathing already. (BTW, millennials — that’s a book reference, so you probably don’t get it. Since I don’t have time to explain what a “book” is, just find that kid that chugs cough syrup on your campus and make some reference about “bat country.” He’ll fill you in.)

However, if you really want to fear for our fair nation’s future, check out this viral clip in which Mark Dice asked people on the boardwalk — most of whom are millennials — basic questions about our Independence Day.

To say it didn’t go well is an understatement of epic proportions:

Gotta love that one woman who thought it was plausible that Jesse Ventura was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. In all fairness, given all of the blows to the head he’s taken over the years and his tenuous grasp on reality, Jesse may believe that too.

 As contemptible as we may view these millennials’ ignorance as being, it’s actually not completely their fault. We now live in a country where self-esteem and political correctness is more likely to be taught in our classrooms than civics, history or national pride.

This is a result of half a century of liberal policy. We’ve made patriotism a bad word, and boy are these people proof of it. Now we have a country illiterate about its own past.

And yet, all of these low information voters will be propelled to the polls this year, no doubt by liberals promising forgiveness of college loans.
 
Maybe we should forgive those loans, though. After all that money, it’s not like they’ve learned anything.
