Make Yourself Disease-Proof 
 
  
How would you like to be virtually disease-proof?
Good answer.  Who wouldn't?
But first, tell me...do you know someone (maybe you) who has one or more of these conditions?
High blood pressure
Overweight/obesity
Arthritis
Autoimmune condition (Crohn's, colitis, psoriasis, MS, Graves' disease, etc.)
Elevated cholesterol
Anxiety and/or depression
Acid reflux/GERD/heartburn
Stroke
Cancer
Diabetes

Chances are, you do.
And chances are also excellent that the same person has two or more!
Now here's another question...
Why are these problems so common?
Why are we so sick? At first glance, it doesn't seem to make any sense.
After all, surgical advances are being made each day. Many procedures are far more sophisticated, less invasive and have shorter recuperation times.
Our testing and disease detection methods are top-notch! Diseases like cancer are being caught and treated earlier and earlier.
And no matter what your problem, the pharmaceutical industry has a pill for it.
So, what's going on here? Why are we so sick?
Let me make it brain-dead simple for you...
Our impressive modern "health" system focuses on anything BUT health.
Its main focus is on the so-called treatment of SICKNESS AND DISEASE...and it completely falls flat on its face when it comes to creating any measure of HEALTH.
They're two entirely different things, my friend.
What does health look like?
Health is NOT the absence of a condition, disease or symptoms.
Instead health is a state of balance where your body is working like it's supposed to!
When your organs and systems are all working like they're designed to, aside from maybe an occasional cold or bug, you aren't sick!
When you're truly healthy, you don't need to sleep propped up on pillows, suffer with chronic pain or are so bloated you look like you swallowed a basketball.
Instead you sleep like a baby, rarely have aches and pains and can always button your pants!
Health means that you don't have excess weight issues, take OTC or prescription drugs regularly or can't remember the last time you had a good BM.
Instead you easily maintain a normal bodyweight, have regular BMs and quite likely don't take any medications.
When you have health, you don't feel fatigued or need to gulp coffee or 5-hour energy drinks just to get through your day.
Instead, you're loaded with energy.
And if you do get an occasional cold, you bounce back quickly and feel great again in no time.
If that sounds good to you, then let's look at what's making us so sick, and more importantly, what you can do to turn that around and instead CREATE HEALTH for you.
They're all around us
Things that make us sick are everywhere:
- Toxins and pollutants in our environment
- Chemicals in our drinking water
- Lack of exercise
- New breeds of bacteria that are more and more resistant to antibiotics
- Stress
- Cigarette smoke
- Prescription and OTC drugs (yes, although they are allegedly supposed to "help" you, they also CAUSE many sicknesses and symptoms!)

But far and away the single most significant factor behind our sickly existence is The STANDARD AMERICAN DIET.
Read on and you'll see why.
You've come a long way, baby...NOT!
Despite the tremendous volumes of information currently out there about healthy eating, including cookbooks by celebrities, MyPlate, "Eat your 5 a day" and more, putting it bluntly, we still eat like crap.
Let's take a closer look at what's on our plates today:
1 - Flour and cereal products (most of which are highly refined, lacking nutrients and basically break down to sugar in your body) comprise 23% (nearly 1/4) of our total calories each day.  Refined carbs can raise blood sugar levels, encourage the development of type II diabetes, add excess weight and lead to a state of inflammation and pain throughout your body.
2 - 17% of our daily calories come from table sugar and high fructose corn syrup. That's a whopping 22 teaspoons of sugar to the tune of 496 calories every single day!
This causes a state of acidity in your body, so it has to use up its own alkaline minerals just to buffer the acid. This is the perfect recipe for deficiency diseases including osteoporosis.
And of course, the sugar packs the pounds on your backside. Oh, and cancer loves sugar.
3- 24% of our calories come from fats and oils which have been highly processed and stripped of their naturally occurring antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
These harmful "Frankenfats" include hydrogenated oils and trans-fats. Your body can't properly metabolize them and instead must attack them like a toxin. They clog your blood vessels, turn them into French fries and make you a candidate for heart disease, high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol.
Plus, you're lacking the crucial protection of antioxidants and vitamins against cancers and other diseases.
4- We routinely eat foods that are hard to digest (including processed food, fast food and huge restaurant meals). Poor digestion not only leads to acid reflux, constipation, gas and bloating, but can also cause harmful gut bacteria overgrowth which can weaken your immune system and lead to food sensitivities and allergies.
And on the flip side...
5- We eat only a measly 5% of our daily calories from fruits and vegetables. Less than one person in every four eats 5 small "servings" a day. And there are literally thousands of studies (do we need any more?) that confirm how vital they are to our health.
6- The average American eats only a meager 15 ounces (less than a pound) of nuts each YEAR, and those are mainly toppings on sugary pastries and ice cream sundaes.
Pity. Because nuts have been shown in study after study to support heart and brain health, among other things.
 

Do you still wonder why?
So, my friend, is it any wonder we're sick and overweight?
Plus, to make the situation even WORSE, the mainstream medical community is not educated in the effects of diet on health.
Most doctors take one very basic course in nutrition in medical school.
One!
And considering how diet can profoundly affect your health, the fact that most health "professionals" are clueless about diet is a travesty.
Take the bull by the horns
Although you can't change what's taught in medical schools, what you CAN do is take the bull by the horns...
And take charge of creating health in YOU.
Here are the two biggest, most significant steps you can take toward saying goodbye to a sickly, diseased, medicated, overweight body:

There's no getting around it. If you want to say goodbye to sickness, you MUST eat for health.
