On Behalf Of Wild Horse Education
Wild horses and burros exist in a complicated system of public land management. We must be their voice.
In 2013 the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) has said the BLM lacks data to create plans to manage wild horses. The BLM has not created any directives and continues to create removal plans. The winter roundup schedule is expected any day.
We need your help to continue to document and take this challenge to the next step. We need to be ready to go where we need to; range, meeting or courtroom.
In 2011 we created this video that has been viewed nearly 4 million times by the public and had federal Judges asking BLM "Is It Bad Enough For YOU?" ! We fought to gain a humane handling policy and with your support, we won legal challenge after legal challenge, and we now have the beginning of a policy.
It takes hard work over the long-term to create change. But we MUST make the desperately needed changes on the race to keep our wild ones free and safe from slaughter and abuse. See more video HERE.
With your vote we can win desperately needed funds to stay in this fight. Last year we won in the category of Courage, this year we are in the running for the $50,000 Grand Prize! For an organization like WHE that is a lot of money and we could get a lot done with it! Can you help us with your vote? CLICK HERE
Nearly 60,000 wild horses are now stockpiled in government facilities. We have the tools to begin to manage them fairly on public land, yet the federal government drags their feet under political pressure. Last month the Advisory Board voted to euthanize horses in holding. Why are we talking about killing horses when we refuse to address the real issues, range management? Why do we let things deteriorate? Discussion points on advocacy HERE.
We need your help to to stop the madness.
Meet our founder, Laura Leigh.
