Willie Nelson cancels two Las Vegas shows due to ‘bad cold’

Country music icon Willie Nelson is cancelling two Las Vegas shows due to illness.
Nelson’s publicist, Elaine Schock, said Thursday that Nelson has a bad cold and won’t play Saturday or Sunday.

“We regret to inform fans that Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29 performances of Willie Nelson & Family: Vegas On My Mind have been cancelled due to recent illness and will not be rescheduled,” a statement reads on his Facebook page

The 83-year-old singer plans to play the remaining three shows — Feb. 1, 3 and 4 — at The Venetian resort on the Las Vegas Strip

The cancelled shows have not been rescheduled, and ticket-holders were advised to seek refunds from the point of purchase.

He recently returned to the U.S. after starring in Woody Harrelson’s experimental movie experience, Lost in London. Harrelson’s film was loosely-based on a night out he had with the iconic city and aired live in select theatres around the world as it was filmed.

“Acting is a little easier than doing a concert,” Nelson told Rolling Stone. “At a concert, you have to last a couple of hours, so doing a movie is a piece of cake.”

According to the country singer, Harrelson asked Nelson if he’d be in the film and Nelson said yes. “Woody, Owen [Wilson] and I are all Texas boys,” the singer said. “We’ve been friends for a long time; we hang out together in Maui a lot. We play dominos, poker, chess, you name it. … The movie sounded exciting.”

The singer-songwriter behind hits such as On the Road Again and Always On My Mind told The Associated Press recently that he will have a new album out this spring, called God’s Problem Child.

Willie Nelson is 83 and at that age we must all look out for him. One of his best friends, Merle Haggard, passed away due to complications from a disease that could have been prevented. Pneumonia ended up getting Merle, and now we must look after Willie.

Willie, who has toured perpetually over the course of his Hall of Fame career, cancelled shows in Midland, Texas, on Nov. 13 and in Lubbock, Texas, on Nov. 15. Willie’s next performance is slated for Nov. 18 in Lake Charles, La., and he still has more than a handful of dates on the schedule before the end of the year.

Willie wants to be able to perform at every single one of his shows, but his illness has affected his ability to sing and move around. He has been bed ridden for a few days, but is hopeful of a quick return. Willie is almost as stubborn as Merle, but I believe he will get better.

In September, Willie released his latest album, For the Good Times: A Tribute to Ray Price. More recently, following the 50th annual CMA awards on Nov. 2, Willie stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to spend some quality time with the late-night talk show host and enjoy a cocktail while playing Three Ridiculous Questions.

Will you pray for Willie?

Willie Hugh Nelson is an American musician, singer, songwriter, author, poet, actor, and activist. The critical success of the album Shotgun Willie, combined with the critical and commercial success of Red Headed Stranger and Stardust, made Nelson one of the most recognized artists in country music. He was one of the main figures of outlaw country, a subgenre of country music that developed in the late 1960s as a reaction to the conservative restrictions of the Nashville sound. Nelson has acted in over 30 films, co-authored several books, and has been involved in activism for the use of biofuels and the legalization of marijuana.

Born during the Great Depression, and raised by his grandparents, Nelson wrote his first song at age seven and joined his first band at ten. During high school, he toured locally with the Bohemian Polka as their lead singer and guitar player. After graduating from high school in 1950, he joined the Air Force but was later discharged due to back problems. After his return, Nelson attended Baylor University for two years but dropped out because he was succeeding in music. During this time, he worked as a disc jockey in Texas radio stations and a singer in Honky-tonks. Nelson moved to Vancouver, Washington, where he wrote "Family Bible" and recorded the song "Lumberjack" in 1956. In 1958, he moved to Houston, Texas after signing a contract with D Records. He sang at the Esquire Ballroom weekly and he worked as a disk jockey. During that time, he wrote songs that would become country standards, including "Funny How Time Slips Away", "Hello Walls", "Pretty Paper", and "Crazy". In 1960 he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and later signed a publishing contract with Pamper Music which allowed him to join Ray Price's band as a bassist. In 1962, he recorded his first album, ...And Then I Wrote. Due to this success, Nelson signed in 1964 with RCA Victor and joined the Grand Ole Opry the following year. After mid-chart hits in the late 1960s and the early 1970s, Nelson retired in 1972 and moved to Austin, Texas. The ongoing music scene of Austin motivated Nelson to return from retirement, performing frequently at the Armadillo World Headquarters.

Since he's a weed smoker he should be taking some form of Omega 3 to heal his lungs. Vitamin D-3 to boost his immune system. Lemon juice to provide an anti acidic gastronomic balance and a Garlic suppliement to counteract any sinus problems.....
