Good Morning Family....here are the overnight news summaries:

An Exhibition of Electric Power Technologies Opens in Baghdad International Fair

An Electric Power Technologies conference opened today in Baghdad, sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Water Resources, and Environment.....we should find it interesting that the Water Resources Ministry is getting involved in such a seminar....this could possibly be another open door opportunity for DOW to shine with their water restoration technologies, as power generation needs good water to run efficiently.

Adoption of the smart card in the distribution of the salaries of the beneficiaries of the protection network

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has contracted with the World Bank to the tune of $8 million dollars to provide a sophisticated electronic network to the provincial ministries in association with the smart cards being issued to Iraqi citizens....the involvement of the World Bank is to defend against abuse and fraud......to me this is yet another good sign, a recognition by the Iraqi's that they need to seek out others such as the World Bank to assist them in areas of technology.

Hamoudi confirms the dismissal decision each deputy voted in favor of concessions in pension law

WOW....the leader of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council, Hamoudi, announced through Facebook that any of their MP that voted in favor of the recently passed Retirement Law, specifically in relation to Article 38, will be prevented from running for Parliament in the upcoming elections. He says this will be accomplished through a citizen coalition.....so does that mean they will outright be prevented or prohibited from running again.....or that he and the Council are urging their voters to not send those guilty of voting yes on the law back to Parliament again because they failed to do their job......interesting idea/concept.

A member of the parliamentary Economy: There are no economic sense to enter the central bank to buy the currency market

Ricklibby posed a question about this article wondering if it is leading to dedollarization and/or the pulling of 000's......it does seem to be pointing towards both. With the CBI apparently hanging onto deposits from the banks of Iraq, leaving those banks with an inability to perform daily work because they now lack working capital....makes one wonder what the CBI is up to.....certainly has an outward appearance of change in the works.

Urgent .. Aircraft bombed [4] dens and stumbled on the body of chief financial officer for al-Qaeda north of Hilla

This apparently was a fruitful hit by Iraqi helicopters in working just north of the town of Hilla. The chief financial officer of al-Qaeda was found....it was believed he had been responsible for distribution of financial guarantees to militants and purchases of car bombs.....checkmark a victory for the Iraqis.

Financial Olympic orientation regardless of the salaries of employees while approving the budget

Here is another group that is being impacted by the lack of a budget....no salaries for employees associated with Olympic training, they are hoping for resolution soon regarding the budget.

Liberal bloc calls for Parliament to re-vote on the retirement of officials in the public hearing

The Liberal bloc of the Sadrist movement is demanding a "re-vote" on the paragraph of the Retirement Law that deals with the retired deputies and others receiving pensions and demands that the vote be made public. It is believed by some that the Parliament acted unconstitutionally on this matter and "after the fact" of the Law being passed, they now demand attention to be drawn to the problem.....it would seem that the recourse would be to take this matter to Federal Court for some final determination. The Liberal bloc claims they could not get out of the session to protest the vote for fear of breaking the quorum at the time.....I've said it before and will say it again.....getting up and leaving a session of Parliament is a cowards way out of dealing with the issue.....such delay tactics should not be allowed....IMO.

Parliamentary oil: the government has failed to invest in the oil sector refineries because of bureaucracy

The Commission on Oil and Gas within Parliament is blaming bureaucracy and government intervention on the issue of not previously investing in new refineries within Iraq. They use the approved refinery in Karbala as an example, indicating it was approved a year ago but just started construction now.....stating that issues are associated with bureaucratic excess, government interventions and security as the main reasons for any delay. They also point to potential of corruption being involved with the Maysan refinery. The Oil Ministry has announced that crude production is on the increase to above 3.5 million barrels per day.....but refining is not staying abreast and Iraq still had to import 3 million liters of gasoline per year.

Options Kurdistan after the latest U.S. position

The Kurds continue to study the model that would have them separate from Iraq, even against the recommendations of the US at this point.....the Kurds feel that they are not being properly represented on many fronts and could do better on their own. This article seems to be an editorial opinion that is based on many factual claims being made by the Kurds at this time. They realize they need to foster an improved relationship with Iran, much like has been down with Turkey, they need to attempt to improve the relationship with Baghdad in the short term, they need to stay engaged with Iraqi politics, and they need to become less reliant on the US who seems to be supporting them less and less, meanwhile looking to Russia and China for support....oh how this makes me shake my head...poor decisions IMO on the part of the US. The writer mentions that the Kurds have played all their economic cards at once with that effort showing great promise....hoping at the same time that political victory would follow but that has not materialized at this point....they seem to have much to learn.

That sums up the overnight news Family....have a great day.   Randy
