24,000 Chemicals May be Tainting Your Bottled Water

Tap water is by no means something to reach for when looking to achieve optimal health (check this out to see why that is). But unfortunately, the common alternative of bottled water isn’t really much better. Not only does the massive amount of plastic used to produce bottled water desecrate our lands and oceans, but research has actually found bottled water to harness thousands of health-destructive chemicals.
German researchers have discovered endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in water bottles that could adversely affect development and reproduction. In fact, there are 24,520 suspect chemicals found to be present in 18 different water bottle brands that could be wreaking your health.
These endocrine disruptors chemicals can interfere with the hormone system, they can cause cancerous tumors, birth defects, cardiovascular disorders, metabolic disorders and as mentioned earlier, other developmental disorders.
According to the study abstract:
“An increasing number of in vitro studies reports the presence of EDCs in bottled water. With previous studies focusing on estrogenicity, the present work provides evidence for an additional contamination with steroid receptor antagonists. We detected antiestrogens and antiandrogens in the majority of analyzed bottled water products. Moreover, the antagonist activity was very potent. An equivalent of 3.75 ml bottled water inhibited estrogen and androgen receptor by up to 60 and 90%, respectively.
…Bottled water from six different countries has been found to contain estrogenic, antiestrogenic, and antiandrogenic (this study), as well as androgenic, progestagenic, and glucocorticoid-like chemicals. This demonstrates that a popular beverage is contaminated with diverse-acting EDCs.”

The solution is simple: drink less bottled water. By drinking less bottled water and opting for a high quality water filtration system (likely reverse osmosis), you would:
Save money by avoiding paying a 2,000% mark up for a nearly free resource.
Saving your health by exposing yourself to less potentially health-damaging chemicals (assuming you bought a water filtration system).
Saving the planet and not contributing to the massive plastic islands that threaten ocean life.
Stop supporting industry leaders like Nestle who believe water should be privatized.
