VLADIVOSTOK, April 18. /TASS/. Russia is ready to cooperate with the United States regardless of who will become the US president after the 2016 elections there, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Saturday in an interview with Vesti v Subbotu program host Sergey Brilyov.
"We will work with any American head of state that the American people will elect," Putin said. "We do not cooperate with a specific individual, we cooperate with the country, one of the largest and a very influential country in the world."
He admitted that there are difficulties in Russia-US relations. "We have differences on a number of positions," the Russian leader said, mentioning problems in the sphere of security, the United States’ unilateral withdrawal from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty and differences on certain issues on the international agenda.
At the same time, Putin said, the two countries "have something that unites us, that makes us work jointly."
As examples, he mentioned in particular nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the fight against international crime, terrorism, poverty, as well as "common efforts aimed at making the global economy more democratic and balanced for the world order to be more democratic."
"We have a common agenda, and we are ready to work with any president that will be elected," Putin said.
What Putin explained rating
Russia does not try to adjust to the current political situation and is conducting an independent policy, which allows its leader to be on the top of ratings of the world’s most influential people, Putin also said.
The journalist asked the head of state to comment on a recent rating based on a poll among the American magazine Time’s readers who called Putin the most influential person in the world.
"Of course, I am indifferent about it, because - I said repeatedly and want to repeat once again - the authority of the leader of this or that state can first of all be assessed by the state’s economic power and its defense capacity," Putin said.
"We have many components that allow us to consider ourselves a country conducting - and it really happens in this manner - an independent sovereign policy on the international arena, conducting the domestic policy in a way our nation demands," he said.
"And in this sense we are, by the way, a rather reliable partner, because we do not dance to somebody’s pipe, do not adjust to the current political situation," Putin said.
He said The Time’s rating was compiled on the basis of the opinions of readers, not the editorial office.
"In this connection I would just like to thank the people who showed such a token of respect, not for me, though it is of course also pleasant, but first of all for our country, Russia," Putin said.

Mr. Putin, we Americans read your comments with great interest; however, there are some very real problems in being able to fulfill some aspects of 'cooperation' between our two nations. First, there are NO valid 'elections' in the USA. ONLY the individuals selected by the criminal corporation occupying our nation are put into top offices in the USA. The 'president' is NOT 'elected' by the people, and does NOT represent the people of the US. As currently with bozo, the Clintonistas, the CON-gress, et al - Russia is NOT negotiating with the TRUE representatives of the people of the US - but with the criminals employed by the Nazi/NWO/UN/ cabal private corporation which is responsible for all the havoc in the entire world, including in the Ukraine.. This criminal corporation NEVER keeps a treaty or a promise - NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER - DID I SAY NEVER?? So what is the point in 'negotiating' with this criminal corporation whose goal is the demise of both you and Russia? Why not support the American people in being rid of this group of snakes so we can reinstate our TRUE Republic which would be more than happy to work with Russia and any other nation. Mr. Putin, what IS the 'common agenda' that you refer to as being between the rogue USA and Russia? The US Republic desires peace and cooperation, whereas the USA cabal corporation is for war mongering, death, destruction and theft. Mr. Putin, are you implying that you and Russia ARE for this as well as those are the very foundational principles of operation for the USA criminal corporation. Mr. Putin, why not PROVE that you and Russia ARE a 'reliable' partner for resolving our differences and for peace by assisting Americans in being rid of the criminals headquartered in Wash DC that have been terrorizing and enslaving the entire world, including America, Russia, and the Ukraine. Why not recognize the restoration of our common law Republic and its Constitution, thus establishing a partnership for solid peaceful relationships between our two nations? Why not address and work with the valid representatives of our re-established Republic, putting to permanent rest the criminals of the USA corporation that are much more than a thorn in your side as well as ours? If you truly desire peace, working toward a 'common' agenda - assuming it is a positive one and not detrimental to millions of lives worldwide, negotiating with the TRUE representatives of the one TRUE government of these united States instead of a rogue mafia organization, then please contact the Republic. Appropriate paperwork has been filed and accepted in The Hague. America is NOT the ENEMY of Russia! Americans are crying out to be free of their terrorizing slave masters, a criminal organization as evil as any the world has known. Mr. Putin, are you serious and honest enough in your statements to assist us in gaining that freedom? If you will do this, you will have the loyalty and respect of Americans who will be very happy to do their utmost to work with Russia. Respectfully submitted and hopefully will be somehow put before you on behalf of the Republic of the US and her peoples.

Well written and I'd have to completely agree. Mr. Putin is a true leader of a country he loves. Unlike our special ass-clown trying to become gay-burrito dictator of OUR great land.
