Earlier in April, California state Democratic leaders introduced a series of legislative bills designed to grant protection and provide benefits for the estimated 2.5 million illegal immigrants residing in the state. Arguing that immigration reform has stalled at the federal level, California state Democratic legislators hope to provide the sort of leadership and vision they believe is required to solve the nation’s immigration crisis.
“With these bills California will again show the kind of practical, humane and forward-thinking leadership that we hope can move the needle on the national discussion,” Assembly Speaker Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) explained at a press conference announcing the legislative package in Sacramento, the state capital.
“The Immigrants Shape California legislative package will not erase all the challenges our undocumented residents face. The work is far from finished,” said Senate President Pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles). “But this package demonstrates our commitment to making California a state that works for all of us.”
“Our message to other states and to members of Congress in Washington, D.C., is that there’s nothing to be afraid of,” de León would go on to argue. “What is it that we fear in embracing the millions of human beings who are already living in our communities?”
Hispanic legislators were out in front in support of the bill, but behind the scenes the usual suspects were pulling the strings.
“I also want to recognize senator Block, the chair of the Jewish Caucus,” de León said at the press conference (40 seconds).
Martin Jeffrey “Marty” Block, who has a long history of support for gay rights issues, is a retired professor who founded the San Diego Latino/Jewish Coalition and served as president of the San Diego Chapter of the American Jewish Committee.
The legislative package would extend healthcare coverage, legal rights, business protections and other benefits to illegal aliens residing in California.
The Times of San Diego provided a summary of the 10 bills comprising the legislative package, which were introduced into the state legislature on April 7. These include:
- SB 10—Establishes the California Office of New Americans to ensure that California has a comprehensive approach to immigrant integration.
- SB 4—Extends access to healthcare coverage through Medi-Cal to all Californians, regardless of immigration status.
- AB 622—Strengthens the state labor code to protect immigrant workers from unscrupulous employers.
- SB 600—Amends the Unruh Civil Rights Act to make it unlawful for businesses to discriminate against a person on the basis of immigration status, citizenship or language.
- AB 60—Protects Californians from immigration attorneys and consultants demanding advance payment for services related to a pending immigration reform act, such as President Barack Obama’s executive actions.
- SB 674—Ensures all immigrant victims of crime in California have the opportunity to apply for the federal Victim of Crime Visa, or U visa.
- AB 899—Protects immigrant children by safeguarding their records from unauthorized disclosure to federal immigration officials that may result in a child’s deportation.
- AB 1343—Avoids unintended detention and deportation by requiring defense counsel to provide accurate and affirmative advice and defense against such consequences.
- AB 900—Aligns California law with federal immigration law to allow for the maximum number of youth in California to receive humanitarian relief.
- AB 1352—Ends unintended immigration consequences for immigrants who successfully complete deferred entry of judgment programs, which are alternatives to court proceedings that allow offenders to participate in drug rehabilitation treatments.
Many Republican lawmakers in California are skeptical of the legislative package, questioning the costs associated with the various bills.
“We understand the burdens facing immigrants who want to go to work and raise their families in safe neighborhoods, and the rationale behind these bills is admirable,” Senate Minority Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) told Associated Press. “But without money from Congress and President Obama, it will be very difficult and costly for California taxpayers to fund all of these bill proposals.”
Others argue that the legislative proposals essentially reward illegal aliens and encourage further illegal immigration, incentivizing the invasion of America largely by unskilled, unassimilable aliens from Mexico and Central America.
Joe Guzzardi, the national media director for Californians for Population Stabilization, argues that these legislative proposals, if passed, only encourage even more illegal immigration.
“The reason the immigration system is broken [is] because none of the laws have been enforced,” Guzzardi explained to KPBS, San Diego’s public broadcasting affiliate. “We’re totally opposed to the bills.”
He called the package of bills “another reward to illegal immigrants.”
“It doesn’t make any sense to keep on reaching out and encouraging more illegal immigration into California,” Guzzardi stated. “More people into California means more water consumption, more resource depletion, more traffic on the roads, more urban sprawl—that’s beyond question but it doesn’t seem to bother [lawmakers].”
“These are outrageous proposals,” Dr. Kevin B. MacDonald, editor of The Occidental Observer and an expert on United States immigration policy, told this reporter. “Not being able to discriminate in employment is a huge blow against American workers, the costs are prohibitive, and the ability to get a visa as a crime victim is obviously going to be abused.”
The bottom line is that “if these measures pass, it will increase the attractiveness of coming to the U.S. illegally,” added MacDonald.
AMERICAN FREE PRESS also spoke with long-time California resident and international corporate lawyer William D. Johnson, the chairman of the American Freedom Party.
“This legislative package represents an accelerated trend toward dispossession of America’s founding stock,” Johnson declared. “It is unprecedented in the history of the world that a people will voluntarily give up its country, nation, language, culture, race, heritage and posterity without so much as a whimper much less a fight.”
Pointing to deeper problems plaguing the current American political culture, one that seeks to reward alien invaders for breaking the nation’s immigration laws, Johnson argued “the entire American system is flawed.”
He explained: “Few leaders are willing to take a stand for fear of being called ‘racist.’ We need a total overhaul of leadership in America. We need to replace the bulk of our elected officials and the leaders of our institutions as well. Only a groundswell by honest Americans will achieve this change.”

IMO what they are saying when they say the "Gov/Mil" will be taking millions of illegals "home" shortly is that they are planning to take America and give it to a bunch of people's who don't even belong here. These plotters will probably get what they deserve I suppose.
I propose a tit for tat program....they come here to get the freebees and I go there....I as a senior that paid into S.S. and only get half or less that the Hispanics get.... Oh I forgot to mention that a high percentage are criminals and are receiving $1,500 plus, free food for each of them, free rent, and health insurance per each.... Oh forgot ...if you are a lady a know how to spread-em....and manage to start popping them out of that Mexican oven you will receive $1,500 per month for each on.....It pays to be a crook here as the crooks are running / ruining our country...
