Here's The Latest...
The
Daily Caller reports: "At the moment, they [Amnesty supporters] do not have the
60 votes they need for cloture," and Fox News reports that even
"Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said that the immigration reform bill
doesn't have the necessary votes to avoid a filibuster in the Senate."
But again... we don't know
whether or not Republicans intend to mount a filibuster and oppose cloture.
As a matter of fact, Politico went so far
as to report that Harry Reid is saying that Republican leaders have assured
him that they "won’t oppose bringing the immigration bill to the
floor..."
Here's the bottom line: If 41 Republicans mount a filibuster, by simply voting
against cloture, Amnesty for millions of illegal aliens goes down in
flames... and that vote will occur in a matter of hours.
If, on the other hand, they choose not
to filibuster, and vote in favor of cloture, a Democrat majority in the
Senate will pass Amnesty. It's that simple.

So Why Won't Republicans Simply
Vote Against Cloture?
Our elected officials have played this
duplicitous game far too many times. The sad truth is that some of them
actually want Amnesty to pass, but they ALSO
desperately need to be on record as voting against it.
And left to their own devices, some of them
will vote to bring the Amnesty bill to the floor, when it only takes 41
votes to kill it; and THEN vote against Amnesty knowing full well that it
will pass on a simple majority vote.
And once Amnesty becomes the law of
the land, these same politicians will actually have the nerve to puff their
chests and proclaim, "I opposed Amnesty."
In other words, they want to vote for it, before they vote against it, and
we're not about to let them get away with it. They can't have it both ways.
We must not allow them to believe, for
one second, that they can get away with simply offering token opposition to
Amnesty when they actually have the power to stop it.
Time is short. Our elected officials need to hear from you
now and we need to make it clear. We want this amnesty bill killed... we
want it filibustered... and any vote in opposition of a filibuster is the
same as a vote for amnesty.

And Make No Mistake, This
Fraudulent Gang-Of-Eight "Immigration Bill" Is An Amnesty Bill...
Plain And Simple.
You've been hearing a lot of
politicians making the rounds on the talk show circuit and attempting to sell
you on the bill of goods that the Gang-of-Eight Amnesty bill is NOT Amnesty.
Don't believe it for one second. National Review
reported, "this
is an amnesty-first bill, despite protestations to the contrary. Under its
provisions, illegals would be made legal almost immediately."
Senator Jeff Session recently
proclaimed: “Like
in 2007, this bill is amnesty before enforcement."
Appearing with Sessions, Senator David Vitter said: “We’re very concerned
that this bill is the same fundamentally flawed model from the past. It’s
immediate amnesty with a promise of enforcement."
Congressman Lamar Smith said: "When you
legalize those who are in the country illegally, it costs taxpayers
millions of dollars, costs American workers thousands of jobs and
encourages more illegal immigration. By granting amnesty, the Senate
proposal actually compounds the problem by encouraging more illegal
immigration."
So how do proponents of Amnesty claim
their Amnesty bill doesn't grant Amnesty with a straight face? It's a
simple deception really. They simply redefined the term "Amnesty."
A paragraph in an article on the
website Policymic.com
illustrates the deception: "The term 'amnesty' is a very loaded word; it implies the
immediate granting of citizenship to illegal immigrants."
No... Amnesty doesn't imply "the immediate
granting of citizenship" and it NEVER did.
Amnesty is the granting of legal
status to millions of people who broke the law. It has nothing to do with
citizenship. Once they are here legally, they are here forever: Amnesty
granted for millions and most likely for millions more to come.

So How About A REAL Plan That
Really Reforms Our Broken Immigration System?
That would be the right thing to do…
But Washington continues to transform into a place where politicians, more
often than not, can’t help but get it wrong.
Let's talk about what must be done to
actually fix our broken immigration system. It's not difficult.
First, we must secure the border... PERIOD. We don't
need false promises of border security as part of some "comprehensive
package" and we don't need any phony "trigger"
provisions. We need Washington to enforce our current border security laws…
then, if needed, STAND-ALONE
legislation that further secures our border... PERIOD... END OF SENTENCE.
Second, we need to streamline the
process for the four million people around the world who are playing by the
rules and are seeking to come to the United States LEGALLY.
Jim DeMint with the Heritage
Foundation echoed those sentiments: "You have been playing by the rules your whole life. The
four million people waiting years for legal entry into our country have
been following the rules too. Now, it seems that liberals favor those who
do not abide by our country's laws."
Echoing DeMint's sentiments, Senator
Ted Cruz recently stated: "I think we should all be champions of legal immigrants
making the system work and not just welcoming, but celebrating legal
immigrants."
And after mentioning that real reform
should not be "held hostage to an issue that is deeply divisive,"
he went on to say: "We need to improve legal immigration... we need to
streamline it... we need to reduce the bureaucracy... the red tape… the
waiting periods..." because, "one of the reasons we see illegal
immigration at the levels we do is because our legal immigration system is
not working effectively."
And then, only AFTER real reforms
are implemented to the satisfaction of the American people, we can then - AND ONLY THEN -
discuss what should be done with those who have entered the country
illegally and their children. Americans are a compassionate people. We will
do the right thing.
But real reform will NEVER happen as long
as Gang-of-Eight politicians in Washington keep trying to fool the American
people into allowing them to enact Amnesty for millions of people who have
broken our laws.
Real reform will NEVER
happen if we allow politicians to pass a Scamnesty
bill... the sooner we kill this fraud, the sooner we can enact real
immigration reform.
