ACLU Steps Up - Sues Government Officials Over NSA Surveillance Program The ACLU and the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) filed a complaint Tuesday challenging the constitutionality of the NSA's telephone surveillance program on the grounds of violating First Amendment rights of free speech and association, and the right to privacy - Fourth Amendment. ACLU deputry legal director issued a statement that it is equivalent to requiring every American to file a daily report with the government, etc.of every location they visited, etc., every person talked to, length and time of call, etc., etc., in other words like treating everyone as an already suspected and convicted criminal with cause, etc.. The suit is directed at James Clapper, director of national intelligence, and leaders of the Defense Department, the National Security Agency, the FBI and the Department of Justice.
