[Jester] President Barack Obama is calling for private capital to take the lead role in the nation’s mortgage market with the U.S. government continuing to provide a backstop only against catastrophic risk.

Jester] The president for the first time is endorsing an approach to remake the housing finance system as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are wound down. He said the government still must play a role to preserve broad access to 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages that underpin the market.

[Jester] “You can’t have a situation in which the government is underwriting and guaranteeing all the mortgage lending that’s taking place around the country and big profits are being made by these quasi-private institutions,” Obama said. Congress should pass housing legislation by the end of the year, he said.

[Jester] Freddie Mac, which has operated under federal conservatorship since it was seized in 2008 during the financial crisis, also said that based on a company net worth of $7.4 billion, it will make a $4.4 billion dividend payment to the U.S. Treasury for its rescue aid.

[Jester] Freddie's larger sister, Fannie Mae, already booked a comparable allowance in the first quarter, triggering a massive dividend to the Treasury of $59.4 billion, most of which was attributable directly to the accounting gain.

[Jester] The Fed is buying $85 billion a month in Treasuries and mortgage-backed securities backed by Freddie and Fannie, a program that had driven interest rates on mortgage loans to record lows earlier this year.

[Truth] Jester I heard about this real estate story in AZ. A well respected realtor kept hearing about housing was booming again. So he deccided to do some research talked with many locals asking has your house sold, no one could say that their house had sold, on the contrary, none had. So, he dug deeper he found the only houses that sold were those that were held by the gov and they (the gov)went under a new LLC name and bought their own houses again. They think we are all stupidd. TRUTH is being revealed they are BUSTED!!! People are waking up and not accepting mainstream lamestream news they are researching the truth themselves. sorry so long!!!
