The fans took action and SANG THE SONG TOGETHER!!

VIDEO: Softball Fans Told 'NO National Anthem!' at Game… Then THIS Happened

Sporting events and the national anthem go together like peanut butter and jelly, and most contests begin with a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” as athletes and fans pause for a moment to show respect for the country that has fostered our freedom to enjoy these events.

Last year, however, a softball game between Louisiana-Lafayette and Baylor was slated to start without the traditional national anthem being played. (Now, for those that like to nit pik at every little thing they can find to criticize on this blog, upon your finding that this article just said 'last year,' go find something positive to do or go take a hike.)

The game was the culmination of the Lafayette regional NCAA Softball Tournament and the event’s attendees were told that, because it was the third game of the day, there would be no national anthem due to 'time constraints'.

Kudos Baylor & Louisiana-Lafayette softball fans!

The PA didn't play the national anthem so fans sang it on their own!

Keyed up softball fans sing national anthem all by themselves!

Fans at Sunday's regional softball championship game in Lafayette, Louisiana, between Baylor and Louisiana-Lafayette were upset to find there would be no national anthem played before the game, the third of the day at the stadium.

And the crowd was not about to let that perceived lack of patriotism stand.

After attempting to get the folks in the PA booth to play the song, the fans took action and SANG THE SONG TOGETHER.

You should probably just hit play below to see this one for yourself.

The national anthem should be changed to, That's The Way We Like it, by KC & The Sunshine Band
