Since Helen Thomas Detested White House Secrecy it is Fitting to Mention Her Beside The Dictator Who Rounded up and Unlawfully Jailed Journalists! Your points of coverage on this are all over the place, but at least some of them support and agree with my position. You start out agreeing with me when you write: "POPULARIZED MYTH: The Civil War was about freeing the slaves." True, it was not about freeing the slaves, which is my position. "ACTUAL FACT: The War Between the States (not a civil war at all) was necessary to preserve the Union." You have it backwards here. The War Between the States did not preserve the Union, was fomented by agents provocateurs, and destroyed the Union leaving an eternal hatred for the Northern Union. Your passive-aggressive sarcasm in paragraph 1: "I'd have to guess that the writer of this article imagines that Abe Lincoln looked into the future and saw that the acts he committed to history would end with his assassination, and so he glorified himself by doing what he could to enslave all of America before that event occurred, and so he would willingly forever vilify himself as a pre-Hitlerian dictator. Thank you Abe!" is a stretch of over-reach since my article says the opposite on the "mindset of Lincoln" - "Whether Lincoln intended to later lift the Martial Law order or not, he was killed, apparently before lifting it, and it may still be in place TO THIS DAY. The mindset of Lincoln can hardly be fathomed, for if he thought he was so immortal he could live to lift the order anytime at his choosing it would indicate he was a conceited, inconsiderate, selfish mess." I will spell it out for you: "if he thought he was so immortal he could live to lift the order anytime at his choosing" means he left the matter UNDONE! DIG??? It was left hanging and dependent upon some honest person(s) of state to see to in event of his death, so he was not exactly being concerned about the matter! DIG??!!! You can take a look at the slave ship manifests and ownership papers and see who was behind the slave trade. The South had been manipulated by the pricing and availability/non-availability of fertilizers and other commodities to grow crops with and had already agreed to not hold slaves any longer before the war started. The other stuff you've written has already been known and hashed and rehashed numerous thousands of times, so they are somewhat of understatements; 'The supplanting of the Organic Constitution"....blah blah and all that, you know. This part about the German Brigadier and all that does not exactly undo the damage that the destroyer, Lincoln, did, either, is not really relevant here. That's all well know to most researchers, but good for you to keep telling it, for sure. He rounded them up under his damned, phony, unjust Martial Law and shoved the Union down everyone's throat and I hope this nation one day fractures into independent countries.........again.
