Hi John
For those of you who are, ahem, a “more mature” age like me, you probably remember the TV show The Beverly Hillbillies.
In case you’re not familiar with it, the show was about a poor backwoods family who suddenly struck it rich with oil on their property and moved from their tiny remote mountain cabin to a mansion in Beverly Hills, CA.
And did that ever make for some hilarious story lines!
One of the characters on the show was Jethro Bodine. He was known for being not-so-bright and having an enormous appetite. He was ALWAYS hungry and that made for many funny moments on the show.
But what’s not so funny is that in the real world, there are a whole lot of Jethro Bodines out there who are constantly hungry…
And packing on the pounds as a result!
If you’ve got a little Jethro in you, let’s take a look and see why your inner dinner bell might be clanging too often…
And more importantly, what you can do about it to help stop adding to your love handles and create a slimmer YOU!
7 Reasons why you’ve got a “Jethro” appetite
1- You’re actually thirsty (aka your body needs water)
It’s true—many people can think that they’re hungry when they’re actually thirsty.
Here are a few ways you can tell the difference:
- Next time you feel hungry between meals,
drink a large glass of water and see if your “hunger” subsides.
- If your urine is dark yellow and opaque at
any time other than first thing in the morning, chances are excellent
you’re dehydrated and thirsty.
- If Jimmy Carter was President last time you
drank a glass of water, and your beverages of choice are coffee, beer,
wine and soda, trust me—your body needs water.
2- You’re PMSing
Ladies, it’s a fact that the hormonal changes associated with PMS trigger your appetite and cravings, especially for refined carbohydrates.
In order to help curb your cravings and even out your blood sugar, be sure to concentrate on complex (not refined) carbs—like whole grains, fruits and vegetables—plus healthy proteins and high fiber foods.
In addition, the amino acid L-glutamine can help reduce sugar cravings. Supplements are available online and in health foods stores—experts suggest a dosage of 500 mg. 1-2 times per day.
3- You’re a diet soda-holic
I know—most people who drink diet soda think they’re doing something good for their waistline. After all, it’s got zero calories, right?
Well, my friend, what you’re doing is sending false messages to your brain!
You see, your brain senses the sweetness of the soda and thinks that calories are coming. But lo and behold when they don’t, your brain starts to DEMAND them.
And you feel hungry as a result!
The answer here is pretty obvious—lay off soda (both diet and regular). Water is a FAR better choice for many reasons (see number 1 above).
4- You’re stressed
Your body’s biological response to stress is the “fight or flight” reaction.
That is, your adrenal glands sense that you may need to act quickly in a stressful situation, so they release adrenaline to get your heart rate pumping, put glucose into your bloodstream and increase your respiration to help you.
Then once the stress is over, cortisol is released to help keep you going and refuel your body. As part of that, it gives you an appetite so you can replace nutrients used up in your stressful event.
This is fine when your stresses are temporary and short-lived, like maybe a fender-bender, running a race, taking an important test or speaking to a large audience.
But when you’re chronically stressed day in and day out, this mechanism operates in overdrive…and can give you a constant, voracious appetite as a result!
If chronic stress is a problem for you, it’s time to chill out. If you feel you need help, there are some good suggestions here: www.stress.org
5- Side effects of your medications
Certain common medications can cause increased appetite, including steroids and antidepressants.
If you’re on any medications, check the literature and see if they can be the culprit behind your Jethro appetite. If so, talk to your doctor about alternatives (or see if you can find a natural answer and/or get off them altogether!).
6- You don’t get adequate rest
Constant yawning and needing toothpicks to keep your eyelids open at your desk are not the only consequences of lacking sleep.
Because too little sleep has been linked to higher levels of the hormone ghrelin, which can trigger hunger.
Plus when you're sleep deprived, you’re more likely to choose sugary, refined carbohydrates to help provide a quick rush of glucose for energy.
But the problem is, the rush is short-lived and you’ll come crashing down in a little while as a result…
Then you’ll crave MORE refined carbs and continue a vicious cycle.
The average adult needs 7-9 hours of sleep per night. If you’re getting less than that, it’s time to turn off the TV, power down the computer and get some decent rest!
And the biggest one of all…
7- You’re not nourishing your body!
Your body's hunger signal is triggered by a lack of nutrients--not by a physical absence of food in your stomach.
So if you're eating lots of nutrient-poor processed/junk foods, you are very likely malnourished and repeatedly sounding off your inner dinner bell. And that means feelings of constant hunger, even shortly after eating a large meal.
You could eat a meal big enough for a lumberjack, but if you're not getting the nutrients you need, you'll feel hungry again in a little while...and you'll be hankering around the cupboard or refrigerator or vending machine for something to eat AGAIN.
The key here, my friend, is to eat REAL foods and make sure your body is absorbing the precious nutrients from those foods!
Now, this is not as hard as it sounds.
It just takes a bit of common sense, a little determination and the right advice.
That's where I come in.
In the Great Taste No Pain system, I’ll guide you on how to structure delicious, easier-to-digest meals made of REAL foods, just brimming with nutrients.

The recipe book has many scrumptious dishes made from real food ingredients that taste FAR better than any packaged stuff you can buy.
And the GTNP manuals show you the few simple principles you'll need to know to make real food meals that your body has an easier time breaking down. This will help keep acid and toxins to a minimum and enhance nutrient absorption.
That means no tummy troubles and quite likely smaller clothes in your near future.
It also means having a LOT more energy and a cleaner you on the inside, so you're a less attractive home for diseases and tumors to flourish.
Plus having a cleaner, alkaline body can also lead to great changes like these:
- Lower blood pressure
- Lower cholesterol
- More normal, stable blood sugar
- Fewer migraine headaches
- Less anxiety and depression
- Fewer general aches and pains
Note: If you’re gluten sensitive or Celiac, I’ve got you covered too with Great Taste No Gluten.

Enhance that nutrient absorption even more!
If you've been a processed/junk food fan for a while (be honest) chances are excellent what you've got some serious gut flora imbalance going on.
You see, processed foods (especially the added sugar) are food for the harmful bacteria in your gut, so they thrive and overcome your beneficial bacteria.
Not only can this cause gas, bloating, constipation and a weak immune system, but it can also greatly hamper your nutrient absorption too!
In addition to a healthy diet of real foods (like I mentioned above) which feeds your friendly flora, probiotic supplementation can be a tremendous help.
Super Shield's 13 strains of friendly bacteria are up to the task, ready to line your intestinal walls, keep the "bad guys" in check, help keep your BMs regular, beef up your immune system and help you get and keep those precious nutrients your body needs!

Having a “Jethro appetite” and the resulting excess weight and illness is truly no laughing matter.
But when you instead look at what may be causing your inner dinner bell to ring in overdrive, you can take control of your appetite once and for all…
And I’m sure you’ll see a difference in your health and especially your waistline very soon!
To your health,
Sherry Brescia
PPS: Susan’s down 45 pounds and has relief from colitis!
I was diagnosed with colitis in May 2010. Because the gastroenterologist could not help me by giving me ideas about what to eat for relief of severe abdominal pain with constipation and diarrhea, I decided to check out diets on the internet. Searching for ‘diet for colitis’ I found many but they all told me the same thing as the doctor. That is, keep a food journal and determine what foods are the culprit. That did not help at all as some time I thought I found the cause of my distress but another time the same foods did not bother me at all.
When I saw your Great Taste No Pain plan I thought ’whatever’ but decided to investigate. The free four day plan was there and because I had nothing to lose, I tried it. Wow! It worked! No pain! In only one day I had great relief. And the food was delicious. I sent for the whole package and have been on the diet since.
I don’t know how to express my gratitude. This diet was a life saver. It literally gave me my life back. I can leave the house without any pain and anxiety about where the bathrooms are and I don’t worry about if I have my Imodium AD with me. I could now carry on my normal social life, my routine visiting family and friends in their homes, and drive around town doing all my normal shopping, banking, and go dining in restaurants. Also, I am off my statin and proton pump inhibitor as I experience no more GERD and my cholesterol is lowered as well as my blood pressure. I have had hot flashes for 30 years and now do not. I surmised it was the statin causing them.
And what’s more, I thought I felt good after four days on the plan but after 11 months on the plan and probiotics I noticed I felt better than I have in over 30 years. It only gets better. I credit, along with the diet, the Super Shield Probiotics for assisting my digestive system to heal my body with the additional nutrition provided by the proper combinations of foods. And I lost 45 lbs. without every feeling hungry!
To you Sherry, thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing all your research and knowledge with the whole world through the wonderful world-wide web.
Sincerely,
Susan
