Hi John
I have great news for you today!
That is, if you’re a stockholder of a drug company.
Because new guidelines recently issued by the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology (both of which have close financial ties to drug manufacturers) are lowering the threshold at which to suggest use of statins to not only lower heart attack risk but also risk of stroke.
The end result? Twice as many Americans as before would be advised to take statins! That means one out of 3 adults could potentially become “statin slaves.”
I can hear it raining money already.
In the article that I read about this latest pharmaceutical windfall, it was stated that in addition to cholesterol, doctors are also going to be looking at factors such as age, gender, race, smoking status and existence or risk of diabetes in order to assess someone’s potential heart disease risk.
That’s how the pool is getting widened, my friend.
But there are some huge holes and downright wrong assumptions in the literature that may not occur to the average person not educated in the field…but they’re glaringly obvious to me!
Let me enlighten you a bit further on this latest and greatest “bottom line enhancer” for drug companies and many professionals treating cardiovascular patients.
Let’s really look at the side effects, shall we?
This article was like SO many others that I’ve read in the past—the only side effects they mentioned were “a small increased risk of muscle problems and accelerating diabetes in patients already at risk for it.” And they even went on to call statins “remarkably safe drugs.”
Really?
Well, take a look at the documented side effects of the 3 biggies—Lipitor, Zetia and Crestor—and tell me what you think.
Lipitor:
- -Liver failure
- -Increased risk of diabetes
- -Decreased sex drive
- -Memory loss which includes:
-
-Trouble finding the right word
-
-Forgetting tasks you started
- -Trouble
following conversations
-
-Lack of concentration
- -Kidney stones
- -Chest pain
- -Abnormal heart rhythm
- -Hemorrhaging from the eyes or gums
- -Ulcers
- -Inflammation of the GI tract
- -Rectal bleeding
- -Anemia
- -Low energy
- -Hair loss
- -Muscle pain
- -Leg cramps
- -Fluid retention
- Liver damage
- Muscle pain
- Breakdown of muscles which can cause kidney
failure & death
- Gallstones
- Pancreatic inflammation
- Depression
- Numbness and tingling in the extremities
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Joint pain
- Back pain
- The flu
- Low energy
- Hives, rashes
- Headache
- Nausea, vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Muscle pain
- Liver failure
- Breakdown of muscles which can cause kidney
failure & death
- Increased risk of diabetes
- Memory loss
- Forgetfulness
- Amnesia
- Confusion
- Memory impairment
Onward.
Get ready for: Your doctor’s weight loss plan!
The article mentioned that doctors should develop “individualized weight loss plans” including a reduced calorie diet, exercise and behavior strategies for their patients.
When I read that sentence, I busted out laughing so hard I spit tea all over my keyboard.
Tell me, how effective do you think nutritional/dietary advice would be coming from someone who took (maybe) one basic course in nutrition (likely several years ago) and typically contends that “diet doesn’t make a difference” when it comes to your state of health?
I’m not being sarcastic here—I’m just speaking the truth. Most doctors are not educated in nutrition so quite frankly they can’t possibly be expected to give dietary advice!
Same goes for exercise. While a doctor can certainly help assess whether or not you’re generally healthy enough to undertake an exercise program, unless they specialize in exercise physiology or something similar, they’re probably not the best source of information about what to do.
The 3 assertions
The statin literature also had 3 assertions—the first of which is 100% correct, the second of which is only partially correct, and the third of which is downright wrong!
Here’s what I mean:
Assertion #1: Heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide.
As much as I would like to dispute that fact, I can’t. Sadly, it’s 100% true.
Assertion #2: High cholesterol leads to hardened arteries that can cause a heart attack or stroke.
This is only partially accurate—cholesterol is part of the “total picture” when it comes to hardened arteries (atherosclerosis) but it gets a bad rap and it’s NOT the main culprit—inflammation is.
Here’s why that is:
First and foremost, cholesterol does serve some very important purposes in your body including these:
- It's used to make hormones like estrogen,
progesterone, testosterone, adrenaline and cortisol
- It acts as a “healing salve” for injuries
and tears in your tissues and blood vessels
- It makes up the myelin sheath that surrounds
and protects your nerves
But the problem arises when inflammation in your body becomes chronic.
Chronic inflammation in your arteries causes a repetitive "signal" for cholesterol to come on the scene and do its “repair work.” However, it's not a cholesterol buildup exclusively that will clog an artery.
On the contrary, when your body goes into overdrive trying to heal an inflamed artery, not only is cholesterol present, but that area also becomes a "magnet" for fibrous proteins called fibrinogens, calcium deposits, and wastes and toxins in your blood.
All of these substances can keep building up and building up until eventually you have the blob called "plaque."
Plus when your arteries are inflamed, that interrupts your body's cholesterol drop off/pick up cycle.
You see, when your body is working the way it should, low-density lipoproteins (LDLs) carry cholesterol through your bloodstream and drop it off to your cells where it's needed.
Then high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) come through like a clean-up crew, "mopping up" excess cholesterol and bringing it to your liver to be recycled.
But when this carefully orchestrated cycle is messed up, that's when you can get into inflammation trouble and become an attractive home for a clog.
So in a nutshell, it's INFLAMMATION that's the true culprit behind clogged arteries--not cholesterol.
Assertion #3: Most cholesterol is made by the liver, so diet changes have a limited effect on it.
This is downright WRONG.
Your diet has a HUGE impact on the health of your liver and its ability to effectively carry out its many functions—including making proper amounts of cholesterol AND getting rid of old, worn-out cholesterol from your body.
Statins, however prevent your liver from being able to make cholesterol—in other words, they impair your body’s functioning as it was designed by Nature.
So is it any wonder that liver damage or failure is a side effect of all 3 statins I highlighted above?
Plus your digestion is key here too. Because your liver dumps old worn out cholesterol (along with bile salts) into your colon to be eliminated with your feces.
But when you have poor digestion and/or chronic constipation, the old cholesterol can instead get reabsorbed through the intestinal wall back into circulation…and that’s when you can get into trouble with cholesterol.
So in all honesty, what the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology should be beating the drum about is a healthy diet and regular bowel movements!
Now YOU know better
Now you know that statins are not the “safe miracle drug” they’ve been made out to be.
FAR from it!
Luckily, there are safe, natural ways you can help reduce your cholesterol as well as enhance your overall level of health and help prevent diseases of ALL kinds—heart disease included!
And unlike increasingly dangerous drugs offered by the pharmaceutical companies, these options are free of side effects and are a tiny fraction of the price!
Talk about a win-win!
Here they are:
1- Eat your way to lower cholesterol
Excess saturated fat (especially trans-fats) and refined sugar can both contribute to elevated cholesterol.
Plus since fiber acts like a broom in your colon to help sweep away excess cholesterol, a diet low in fiber can worsen a cholesterol problem as well.
So it's crucial to have a healthy, balanced diet that will help you:
- Avoid trans-fats at all cost
- Limit saturated fats
- Avoid refined sugars and
- Get natural dietary sources of fiber

The GTNP manuals show you ALL of the dangers of eating trans-fats and too much saturated fat and refined sugar.
They also help guide you in having a more balanced diet including lean proteins, plus fiber-rich fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grains and legumes which can help whisk away old cholesterol instead of leaving it to be reabsorbed.
And the best part is Great Taste No Pain truly lives up to its name--every single dish in the recipe book is mouth-watering delicious.
2- Get a healthy essential fatty acid balance
When you have too many Omega-6 EFAs and too few Omega-3s (like most people with a typical diet do), you're encouraging inflammation, pain and disease, as well as not being able to eliminate cholesterol as well as you should.
But when you bring the balance closer to the ideal 3:1 range, the Omega EFAs act together in harmony to keep inflammation low in your body (including your arteries!) and help you get rid of excess cholesterol.
VitalMega-3 can help you achieve this optimal balance.

Based on recent studies, the Journal of the American Medical Association reported decreases in cholesterol of up to 20% in just 10 DAYS by boosting Omega-3 EFA's through diet and supplementation!
According to scientists at the International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids (ISSFAL), the recommended daily intake of Omega-3 is at least 650 mg/day of EPA+DHA combined for health maintenance and to prevent deficiency.
VitalMega-3 is a top quality molecularly distilled fish oil that delivers a whopping 1,000 mg of EPA+DHA Omega-3s in each and every daily two-capsule serving.
3- Put probiotics to the test
Probiotics can help reduce blood cholesterol in these 3 ways:
- They create acids that counter cholesterol
production (a natural, safe "version" of what Lipitor is
supposed to do!)
- They break down bile acids so your liver has
to “use up” excess cholesterol to make more
- They actually "eat" cholesterol
too!

One of Super Shield's powerhouse strains of bacteria, Lactobacillus Acidophilus DDS-1, is a wonder strain when it comes to maintaining healthy cholesterol levels.
L. Acidophilus DDS-1 "eats" cholesterol like I mentioned above, plus it also helps digest proteins and carbs, and produces B vitamins, folic acid, and lactase (which reduces lactose intolerance).
And of course, probiotic supplementation helps to encourage regular bowel movements (which are vital to eliminate old cholesterol) and helps to strengthen your immune system (which can help make you a less attractive candidate for sickness and disease overall).
Now don't think for one minute longer that dangerous drugs (and their frightening and possibly deadly side effects) are your only option for managing cholesterol and helping to prevent heart disease, and that “the widening pool of the drugged” must now include you.
That’s simply not true!
Let Great Taste No Pain, VitalMega-3 and Super Shield help your body from within to encourage a healthy cholesterol level and optimal overall health…for a fraction of the cost of ridiculously expensive drugs.
And do it a WHOLE LOT SAFER.
By the way, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and heart disease run in my father’s family. But thanks to my diet, VitalMega-3 and Super Shield, my cardiovascular health is perfect--and I'm 51 years old!
To your health,
Sherry Brescia
My husband and I have been following the Great Taste No Pain way of eating for a little over a year now.
At my last doctor visit a few months ago he told me I no longer needed my cholesterol medication! YEA! I hated the way that stuff made me feel, so I was thrilled that I had improved myself enough to get off of it.
I am now working to get off my high blood pressure med too. The doctor told me several years ago that I would have to be on it for the rest of my life because of my family history. I don't believe him and I am anxious to prove him very wrong. I am 45 and have been on it for 10 years. I have lost 20 lbs in the past year or so on your program and I hope to lose about 10-15 more.
My husband found you while searching for help for diverticulitis. He is now back to his high school weight.
We are always getting asked what we are doing and we share your website will many. We are hoping to get our family members to feeling as good as we do soon.
Thanks!
Vicki & Michael
