"Here's a copy of the service," he said impatiently. "But, you'll have to think of something to play after I make the announcement about the finances." During the service, the minister paused and said, "Brothers and Sisters, we are in great difficulty; the roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected and we need $4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand up." At that moment, the substitute organist played "The Star Spangled Banner." And that is how the substitute became the regular organist! When you carry the Bible, Satan gets a headache...... When you open it, he collapses..... When he sees you reading it, he faints..... When he sees that you are living what you read, he flees..... RALEIGH, N.C. – As Washington bickers over
raising taxes, North Carolina has joined a growing list of states that are
moving in the opposite direction by looking to eliminate the income tax
altogether.
Republican North Carolina state Sen. Bob
Rucho is leading the charge to reform the state's tax system, which he calls
outdated and blames for dragging the economy down. He believes scrapping the
state's 7.75 percent personal income tax and the 6.9 percent corporate income
tax would spur economic growth and create jobs.
"When this is fully implemented, the
paychecks will be higher," Rucho said. "Every single person in North
Carolina will have more money to spend, to use for what they believe they need
or want."
At least three other Republican-controlled
states are looking at proposals to completely eliminate state income taxes in
2013.
Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback hopes to end his
state's income tax over the next few years and says his plan has already
yielded results by attracting a record number of new businesses to his state in
2012.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is also pushing a
proposal to end income taxes in his state. Both governors are backed by
Republican supermajorities in the state legislatures, as exists in North
Carolina.
And Nebraska is currently studying the
feasibility of a tax overhaul.
All the proposals and their supporters cite
states that already operate largely without income tax revenue. Alaska, Texas,
Florida, Tennessee, New Hampshire and Washington state have no personal income
taxes -- while Nevada, South Dakota and Wyoming operate without personal or
corporate income taxes.
"Well, we have studied this for the past
six to eight months and we looked at Texas, Florida, Tennessee and Nevada and
tried to pick the best aspects of their economy," Rucho said. "That
gives them a more vibrant economy."
North Carolina Senate President Pro Tempore
Phil Berger compares many of the "no-income tax" states, which enjoy
lower unemployment and high job growth rates, to higher income tax states, such
as New York and California -- which he sees as struggling financially.
"What we would do is move North Carolina
more in the direction of Texas as a low tax state, a high job creation state
and away from what we are now," Berger said. "Some folks refer to us
as 'the California of the Southeast.'"
But what has become a popular trend in
conservative circles is creating concern among some moderate Republicans and
Democrats, who fear eliminating state income taxes would shift the burden to
the poor.
State personal and corporate income taxes
currently provide about 60 percent of North Carolina's operating revenue. If
these taxes were eliminated, the lost revenue would be replaced by increasing
and expanding the sales tax.
Taxes would potentially increase on home
sales and be expanded to include such services as pet grooming, health club
memberships, car washes, advertising and haircuts.
But what worries critics most are sales tax
increases on basic necessities, such as food and health care. Consumers could
see sales taxes on their grocery bills quadruple by next year. Sales taxes
could also be expanded to include out-of-pocket medical expenses, such as
insurance co-pays, deductibles and dental procedures.
"What you are really doing is impacting
low and middle income families who spend more of their income day to day on
basic necessities," said Alexandra Sirota, budget and tax director with
the North Carolina Justice Center. "They will see their taxes go up and
high income folks who tend to save more, tend to spend less on taxable items
will see a huge tax cut."
The North Carolina Justice Center, which
calls itself a "progressive advocacy and research organization," says
the current proposal to eliminate income taxes and raise sales taxes would
increase taxes on families living at or below the poverty line, while handing
millionaires huge tax breaks.
Opponents of the plan say it would make life
harder for residents on fixed incomes, such as cancer survivor Patricia
Evans-Carpenter. She faces $29,000 in medical bills and says she already is
making tough choices between daily necessities, such as utilities, groceries
and gas for her car. Evans-Carpenter worries that added sales taxes on medical co-pays
and groceries could push her to a financial breaking point.
"These are things that people need. We
have to eat. We have to have toiletries. Prescriptions have to be filled and
bills have to be paid," she said. "You just can't tax everything and
expect people to be able to take care of those expenses."
Still, supporters of the North Carolina tax
proposal maintain that lower and middle income residents will benefit from
higher paychecks and more jobs. Despite the fact that Gov. Pat McCrory's budget
director has publicly criticized the idea, lawmakers are confident they will
get tax reform passed by the end of this year.
"The current system has led to where we
are now, where we are unfortunately leading the Southeast in unemployment, as
opposed to leading the Southeast in job creation," Berger said.

Why cooking with a microwave destroys cancer-fighting nutrients in food and promotes nutritional deficiencies

absolutely decimate the nutritional value of your food, destroying the very
vitamins and phytonutrients that prevent disease and support good health.
Previous studies have shown that as much as 98% of the cancer-fighting
nutrients in broccoli, for example, are destroyed by microwaving.
To understand why, you have to understand the nature of vitamins and phytonutrients (plant-based nutrients). These are very delicate molecules which are fragile. They are easily destroyed by heat, which is why raw plant foods contain more plant nutrients than cooked foods. Carotenoids, antioxidants and other molecules like DIM (in broccoli) or anthocyanins (in purple corn) are all easily destroyed by microwave energy.

This results in a cell-by-cell "nuking" of the food (such as broccoli, carrots, etc.), causing the near-total molecular decomposition of the vitamins and phytonutrients that promote disease.Microwaved food is not merely "dead" food at every level, it is food that has been molecularly deconstructed, leaving nothing but empty calories, fiber and minerals. Virtually the entire vitamin and phytonutrient content has been destroyed.
Anybody who says microwaving food is a healthy way to cook is wildly ignorant of nutrition and cooking methods. While steaming vegetables is, indeed, a good method for some veggies to help make certain nutrients more bioavailable, microwaving destroys veggies from the inside out at a cellular level.
Don't be fooled by appearances
What's really deceptive about microwave cooking is that the food still appears to be basically the same, but at the cellular level, it's like a nuclear war has taken place. The actual molecular structure has been decimated. If you could see microwaved foods with a powerful microscope, you'd never eat them again because you would recognize just what a nutritional wasteland they really are.If you want to eat in a healthy way, make sure a significant part of your diet is raw plants. It's okay to eat some steamed, stir-fried or even grilled veggies, but when grilling foods, avoid burning them because all burned parts contain toxic, cancer-causing chemicals that promote colon cancer.
Personally, I am absolutely astonished that more people don't already know all this. I'm even having to talk with my own staff about these issues, as they don't seem to know the full story on microwave cooking. Spread the word: Microwaves promote death because they turn nutritious, healthy food into empty, decimated calories. I gave up using a microwave well over a decade ago, and I don't even own one.
Remember, a person who cooks a lot of their food with microwaves will inevitably have chronic nutritional deficiencies that promote cancer, diabetes, bone diseases, loss of brain function, heart disease and many other health problems. The least healthy people of any society are typically the ones who frequently use the microwave oven to "nuke" their foods.

My wife and I have been wondering why there has been multiple numbers of military helicopters flying in our skies this week so I decided to look into it.
Blackhawks and Chinooks have been active in the skies from North Florida to South Florida in what Maj. Mike Burns (a public affairs spokesman for the Air Force) calls a large training operation by the US Special Operations Command.
The flights have been active all week, including night operations. According to Ocala.com, ”A press releases issued by Miami Dade County advises that the exercise includes the use of military helicopters and simulated gunfire. The training is meant to prepare participants for combat missions in urban areas and to prepare forces for upcoming overseas missions, according to the release.”
We at Intellihub.com have long speculated as to where the government is actually training for as drills have ramped up over the past few years. It seems that these war games have had more of a domestic nature to them in recent days in violation of Posse Comitatus.
The true intention aside, it is shocking to see how many drills are taking place on U.S soil today. Oddly, in Pittsburg Kansas we have seen Blackhawk helicopters being used in drills for the ROTC.
However, beyond the drills utilizing these military helicopters, the Navy has actively been involved with all sorts of disturbing tests domestically. From drones to barium testing, they seem to be very active period.
Rosalind Peterson, who will be appearing in Shade the Motion Picture (a new documentary film scheduled for release April 15, 2013) highlights much of this in her article entitled “U.S. NAVY’S TWELVE 5-YEAR WARFARE TESTING PROGRAMS & THE INCREASING & ONGOING THREAT TO THE GULF OF MEXICO, ATLANTIC & PACIFIC OCEANS”.
She writes;
U.S. Warfare Training Range History & U.S. Cooperating Agencies
Starting under the Bush Administration and continuing under the Obama Administration, twelve U.S. Navy 5-Year Warfare Testing Range Complexes, initiated between 2008 and 2012, are in full operation in the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic, and the Pacific. [7] The tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is still threatening local economies, human health, the fishing and tourism industry. The oil and Corexit pollution has been threatening this environment for years.
Adding to this ongoing problem in the Gulf of Mexico, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force, with permits approval by NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration), have now started another assault on this area using multifaceted warfare testing experiments that include bomb blasts, sonar use, missile exercises, and the testing of new weapons systems. NOAA has issued permits allowing the U.S. Navy to “take” marine mammals in the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans areas[4-7].
NOAA (U.S. Department of Commerce – National Marine Fisheries Service), had previously approved the “taking” of marine mammals in the Gulf of Mexico. And then NOAA, in the first few months during the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, admitted that they knew little about the marine environment in this underwater area. Now NOAA has issued permits to the U.S. Navy and Air Force for 5-Years of warfare testing in the Gulf of Mexico (December 19, 2011 [4+6-7]), and in other areas, which may exacerbate the current environmental problems in the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Using the Earth & Inhabitants as Test Subjects
Our oceans and land areas, in the Pacific, Atlantic, and the Gulf of Mexico along with all inhabitants, are to be used as warfare test guinea pigs without public consent, debate, U.S. Congressional hearings or any public oversight.
Drone Weapons Testing & Surveillance Over the United States & Pacific, Atlantic & Gulf of Mexico
In addition, the U.S. Navy is now working to expand their drone operations over the United States. In Oregon, a new draft Navy Environmental Impact Statement is due out this spring for public comment [9]. Drones carrying and testing bombs, new weapons systems, testing new types of drones, and surveillance over land and ocean areas are planned for our future. Compounding this issue, as reported by The Guardian.co.uk on April 2, 2012, “…American scientists have drawn up plans for a new generation of nuclear-powered drones capable of flying over remote regions of the world for months on end without refueling…” [20]. In addition, there is increasing drone surveillance leading to questions over public privacy in the U.S. Accidents are increasing as police departments in Texas and other areas are increasing drone usage [21-22].”
With all this in mind, one is only left wondering what the military is really gearing up for?

The shoo-in confirmation of Deputy National Security Adviser for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism John Brennan as director of the CIA was supposed to be low-key nonevent, fading out into oblivion the very first nanosecond it was announced.
But it hasn’t – and hardly ever will be forgotten for a foreseeable future.
The freezing of public attention span has nothing to do – almost – with the character traits of the new Langley chief, but has inexorably linked with the White House Nobel Laureate closet infatuation with the Black Ops, conducted by the best toys for the big boys – RPA, remotely piloted aircraft – with a paternalistic passion of ‘no prisoners left behind’.
The fleeting marriage of convenience between the GOPLINS and liberals – ‘the wacko birds on right and left that get the media megaphone’, as senator McCain so eloquently described – to sabotage, again, the nomination of CIA old hand and Obama’s drone dispatcher has finally failed.
However, this tactical victory over Brennan confirmation has already cost US president dearly: a strategic blowback, unprecedented in scope & scale.
Who would have thought that a steamy exchange of bodily fluids between the two West Point graduates, exposed by Florida femme fatale and her shirtless federal fan, (if it wasn’t an elaborate honey trap), would topple director Petraeus and unintended nomination of the new CIA chief would reignite clamoring for transparency about torture and targeted killing, the agency’s old & new pet projects.
Attorney General has gotten himself trapped haplessly into proxy legal war to justify benign dictatorial aspirations of the Commander in Chief to terminate without prejudice American subjects in America and over yonder.
Now when counterterrorism adviser has triumphal comeback to Langley as the top spook, he could return the favor to his protégé: step up to the media limelight & legislative scrutiny of his agency’s past & future, deflect the negative publicity from besieged Barak Obama and exonerate him from alleged power grab Hussein ambitions.
John Brenan should cut that ‘I ain’t no nothing’ Hillbilly posturing: what does it say about Commander in Chief when his pick for Spy in Chief, after all that years at the Farm, solemnly claims on camera to the whole world regarding EIT, enhanced interrogation technique, that “I don’t know what the facts are or what the truth is”?
Is that a kind of plausible deniability a pro like him is expected to sell to cover that tracks for his former & current boss at the White House?
At the confirmation hearings, the nominee promised – or just paid a lip service – that if confirmed, it would be ‘one of his highest priorities …to get his arms around’ torture management program, exposed by SIC, Senate Intelligence Committee report on detention & interrogation.
For Brennan, the question is no longer ‘if’ but when he’ll come clean – forget moral high ground and ethical considerations – on efficacy of that EIT program.
Well, don’t hold your breath that Lord of Spies would spill his guts even under duress of truth serum, hypnosis or electroshock therapy.
If Senator McCain doesn’t call his bluff, the second-time president would still be guilty by association as second-hand sidekick of ‘Dubya’ Bush in charge of the same flee-bitten CIA – Coercive Interrogations Agency.

In other words, if a financial institution fails, clients, depositors and pension funds may not get some or all of their money back in a bankruptcy.
In essence, under the ruling, Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SPIC), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and other insurance programs no longer will/can protect customer funds, leaving millions of investors, depositors and retirees unaware that they are no longer account holders of their own funds, per se, but, instead, have suddenly become stockholders of the institution with which they have deposited their money.
