When Edward Snowden stole the crown jewels of the National Security Agency, he didn’t need to use any sophisticated devices or software or go around any computer firewall.

All he needed, said multiple intelligence community sources, was a few thumb drives and the willingness to exploit a gaping hole in an antiquated security system to rummage at will through the NSA’s servers and take 20,000 documents without leaving a trace.

“It’s 2013 and the NSA is stuck in 2003 technology,” said an intelligence official.

Jason Healey, a former cyber-security official in the Bush Administration, said the Defense Department and the NSA have “frittered away years” trying to catch up to the security technology and practices used in private industry.  “The DoD and especially NSA are known for awesome cyber security, but this seems somewhat misplaced,” said Healey, now a cyber expert at the Atlantic Council. “They are great at some sophisticated tasks but oddly bad at many of the simplest.”

As a Honolulu-based employee of Booz Allen Hamilton doing contract work for the NSA, Snowden had access to the NSA servers via "thin client" computer. The outdated set-up meant that he had direct access to the NSA servers at headquarters in Ft. Meade, Md., 5,000 miles away.

In a “thin client” system, each remote computer is essentially a glorified monitor, with most of the computing power in the central server. The individual computers tend to be assigned to specific individuals, and access for most users can be limited to specific types of files based on a user profile.

But Snowden was not most users. A typical NSA worker has a “top secret” security clearance, which gives access to most, but not all, classified information. Snowden also had the enhanced privileges of a “system administrator.” The NSA, which has as many as 40,000 employees, has 1,000 system administrators, most of them contractors.

As a system administrator, Snowden was allowed to look at any file he wanted, and his actions were largely unaudited. “At certain levels, you are the audit,” said an intelligence official.

He was also able to access NSAnet, the agency’s intranet, without leaving any signature, said a person briefed on the postmortem of Snowden’s theft. He was essentially a “ghost user,” said the source, making it difficult to trace when he signed on or what files he accessed.

If he wanted, he would even have been able to pose as any other user with access to NSAnet, said the source.

The “thin client” system and system administrator job description also provided Snowden with a possible cover for using thumb drives.

The system is intentionally closed off from the outside world, and most users are not allowed to remove information from the server and copy it onto any kind of storage device. This physical isolation – which creates a so-called “air gap" between the NSA intranet and the public internet -- is supposed to ensure that classified information is not taken off premises.

But a system administrator has the right to copy, to take information from one computer and move it to another. If his supervisor had caught him downloading files, Snowden could, for example, have claimed he was using a thumb drive to move information to correct a corrupted user profile.

“He was an authorized air gap,” said an intelligence official.

Finally, Snowden’s physical location worked to his advantage. In a contractor’s office 5,000 miles and six time zones from headquarters, he was free from prying eyes. Much of his workday occurred after the masses at Ft. Meade had already gone home for dinner. Had he been in Maryland, someone who couldn’t audit his activities electronically still might have noticed his use of thumb drives.

It’s not yet certain when Snowden began exploiting the gaps in NSA security. Snowden worked for Booz Allen Hamilton for less than three months, and says he took the job in order to have access to documents. But he may have begun taking documents many months before that, while working with the NSA via a different firm. According to Reuters, U.S. officials said he downloaded documents in April 2012, while working for Dell.

Snowden is thought to have made his initial attempt to offer documents to the media in late 2012, while at Dell.  According to published accounts, he tried to contact Guardian journalist Glenn Greenwald in December and started talking to filmmaker Laura Poitras in January.

He began working for Booz Allen in March. In May, he told his supervisor he needed to take time off to deal with a health issue, and then flew to Hong Kong, where he met with Poitras and Greenwald, on May 20. He later told the Guardian that he was downloading documents on his last day at work. The revelations based on his documents started appearing in the Guardian and the Washington Post within weeks.

Snowden is currently living in Russia, where he’s been granted temporary asylum. The U.S. government has charged him with theft and violations of the Espionage Act.

U.S. intelligence officials said recently that they plan to significantly reduce the number of individuals with system administrator privileges.

“U.S. intelligence has invited so many people into the secret realm,” said an intelligence official. “There are potentially tons of Edward Snowdens. But most people aren’t willing to vacuum everything up and break the law.”

The NSA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

     Having spent eleven calendar years in military academies, I know how you set up a world war without the people knowing what is going on until after the world war starts. The moves of Obama are to set up a pending world war. Now Obama has been sabotaging the national defense of America in various key ways. For example, I offered some time ago to release information to the Pentagon I had on a trick way to annnihilate America Russia had planned long ago so long as Wash., D.C. released to me first the prior federally stolen $525,000. That was stolen to prevent me from starting up again my father's Vatican endorsed food process Pope Pius XII said was potentially the most important news for mankind since the coming of Christ since it was so important to world health. Russia was acting on the assumption that the Pentagon never found out the military intelligence trick Moscow had played on Wash., D.C. so they would not spot the site designed to annihilate America in a quick attack on America. I had a naval officer from the Warsaw Pact years ago and other sources that told me about this Moscow operation when first set up. The reason why the Pentagon was not interested in this information is that Obama in the White House was not interested. Maybe it had something to do with that around 1992 in Moscow a Communist official told an American spy for the Defense Intelligence Agency that Communism would take over America later on because they were training a secret Black in America to be future President of America, his name was Obama, and he would make America a Communist nation after he became President of America by Communist help. This American spy forwarded his report on this to the Pentagon but the public never knew that Obama had already been picked by the Communists to be the future President of America as he was Black and would play the racist card to the maximum in American politics that you were racist if not for him for President.

Under Obama, the Pentagon does not want this information until the Omni Law is passed as they apparently serve Obama but not the American people at this time. Maybe Syria released chemical warfare in Syria. It has also been suggested that maybe America arranged the release of the chemical warfare attack in Syria to engineer the excuse to start an official American war against Syria. There is so much lying done by Wash., D.C., it is hard to track down the real truth until you have the funds to finance a proper intelligence investigation to find out who is telling the truth and who is lying over Syria. Now if the rebels win in Syria, apparently the Muslim Brotherhood takes over Syria. The same group takes over Egypt if Obama successfully ousts the military from control in Egypt. Right now Iran is on the side of Obama about actions to take against Syria and Egypt. Iran wants two more extremist Islamic governments created in the Middle East by Obama policy. Then that is not far away from when the extremists control all of the Middle East and World War III starts with America. Also, Obama has promoted to important Washington posts Muslims who are reported to be strong followers of the Muslim Brotherhood. Obama is pulling the strings to engineer a pending World War III and then he believes world takeover by the Muslim Brotherhood if the evidence I have seen is correct.

     The Illuminati is committed by the plan of Gen. Pike to start a World War III by pitting Arab against Jew in the Middle East. Most of the Arabs are scheduled to be killed by this plan and all of the Jews in the Middle East. The Gen. Pike plan for world takeover used to be displayed at a prominent London, England library for maybe decades, but was finally removed from public display a few years ago as reported to me. The plan started with engineering a World War I and overthrowing the Czarist Russian Government while the war was going on. The public would be distracted by the world war and not pay serious attention to what happened in Czarist Russia then. The Communists were to be put into power in Russia by plan of Gen. Pike. Then after World War I was over, nationalists in Germany were to be financed so they took over Germany, fought a World War II, and drove the Jews out of Germany into the Middle East to found the new nation of Israel. Then Jews in Israel and Arabs in the Middle East were to be played one against the other until this created a World War III. While the world is distracted by a World War III, the Illuminati would take over the governments in the rest of the world and then kill off most of the Arabs and all of the Jews in the Middle East. Once the Illuminati achieved world power by engineering a World War III, then Satan (Lucifer)  was to be declared the "god" of this world and the world then ruled by Satanists belonging to the Illuminati. Most of the world population is to be killed off in the end by latest Illuminati planning composed of leading bankers, etc., and the remainder of the human race the slaves and serfs of the "World Global Plantation" run by the Illuminati Satanists. They even suggested figures as low as 500 million humans left alive on earth, 200 million, and due to modern automation including computers, even leave 50 million humans alive on earth and the rest killed off across the earth by the Illuminati Satanists who according to one Russian intelligence report of 2001 said they had over $300 trillion available in their fund for world takeover and establishment of a One World Government under them. This same Russian intelligence report of 2001 predicted the 9/11 attack a few months later to be set up by the illuminati to give them the excuse to establish a total federal police state in America ending up as the basis for the One World Government to be set up by the Illuminati once they have tricked all mankind into acceptance of their planned One World Government.

     Now the Communists were a bit more independent than the Illuminati estimated. They planned to play subjects of the Illuminati until they got strong enough and then seize world power instead of the Illuminati. They were going to kill off the illuminati leadership and then rule the world with Communism instead of the Satanist Illuminati plan. They apparently had planned to kill off the Rothschilds, Rockefellers, etc. once they had the upper hand. Their world plan as written by Karl Marx included killing off all Jews in the world as outlined in the book written by Karl Marx "A World Without Jews." Karl Marx said that once you got rid of all the Jews in the world, then you could have a "workers' paradise" on earth. Karl Marx also left oral word to get rid of the Blacks in America once the Communists won power in America as the "Blacks" were an inferior race according to Karl Marx and you could not build a successful Communist society based upon an "inferior race." Karl Marx had lived in America for awhile as a newspaper journalist and had a savage hatred of both Jews and Blacks. That is why his favorite insult for any enemies was to call them a "NIgger Jew" or "Jewish Nigger" as he had no use for the Blacks he had seen in America and even though he was of original Jewish ancestry, fiercely hated the Jews. I had seen this type behavior in some of Jewish ancestry who savagely hated the Jews including I think his name was Dan Burros of the American Nazi Party who if I recall correctly later committed suicide when it was found out that he came from a Jewish family.  Another American Jew I knew so fiercely hated the Jews who he called every vile name he could think of and would have been a zealous Heinrich Himmler of an American version of the S.S. if he had been given command of such. And when in Brussels, Belgium in the 1840's, Karl Marx told the Communists to later push total free trade with the capitalist nations as they would descend into price war against one another until all the capitalist nations bankrupted each other and then the world economy. Then Communism by defaut would take over the world economy. It is uncontrolled price war that brought America, Europe,  Japan, etc. into a near world collapse of the world economy just as Karl Marx predicted. Obama is trying to set up the finish of the American and world economy so everything collapses exactly as Karl Marx said to do. Obama is pulling every trick he can taught him by the Communists who educated him to be the future President of America to sabotage free enteprise in America so America collapses into bankruptcy and then total Communism. Obamacare has set up a massive federal police state in America, savagely hurts and undermines the American economy such as firms all over America are now demoting full time workers into part time workers due to Obacare, and makes a colossal mockery of the terms of the U.S. Constitution and U.S. Bill of Rights in the wild powers it grants to the federal government including murdering millions of senior citizens by medical committees, invading all homes in America, and fining colossal sums and putting in federal jails those who try to assert that they have legal rights in America. I understand that by authority of Obamacare the feds can now steal from all bank accounts in America by whim and not answer to any court afterwards. And the chip they want to stick into every American under Obamacare, one medical research doctor said they could eventually trigger off cancer and death in potentially all that took them.

      And Time Magazine in their August 19, 2013 issue finally picked up the issue I have been pushing nationally for some while. They reported on 'A WORLD WITHOUT BEES." They were warning like I had earlier that we stop the killing of honeybees now in America or maybe soon one-third of our food in America may be threatened that uses bee pollination for the production of food in America. Obama's policy in agriculture is killing off the bees, not saving them, which is heading America towards potential national famine down the road. Pass the Omni Law and we will move fast to save the remaining honeybees before none are left in America. GMO foods with insecticide in them, Roundup, etc. are killing off the honeybees fast. Obama is defending by legal threats those chemical interests threatening the survival of our honeybees and safe food supply for America. You go on federal target lists it seems to oppose the Obama GMO agricultural policy for America. Does not bother me! I refuse to try and make my father's Vatican endorsed super food discovery with GMO wheat! I have too much intergrity to betray the American people this way or other people in other nations of the world! I will give all people the quality super health food my father pioneered, not a cheap, counterfeit version dictated by Obama Washington and potentially harmful to those eating Wash., D.C. counterfeit food under Obama policy.

     The reason why Obama is pushing the rebels in Syria is to cut off Russia from the European market for its natural gas, etc. and instead turn over the supply of these to other nations instead. The hidden war is to attack Russia by attacking the present government of Syria which is the key whether Russia has a much larger market for its natural products in Europe or else Russia is crippled in economy by Obama which is a form of declared war on Russia. It has been said all wars are started over economic issues. Not really all wars, but probably most wars are started over economic issues. I know the Pentagon way of military thinking. I know the Russian way of military thinking and engineered the intelligence coup where a defector from the Moscow Institute For Nuclear Studies trained me like a Russian general in nuclear warfare tactics Russian style. My warning is that it is dangerous to underestimate the Russian military. They have military doctrines and concepts I don't think the Pentagon realize they have. And I am bothered by the military site designed to annihilate America may have about two years ago been turned over to China for control. I have hidden reason not admitted here why I say this. I am good in military intelligence angles that Wash., D.C. is apparently very weak in. I never taught Wash., D.C. the intelligence tactics I developed and worked against Soviet intelligence during the Cold War. No one has a monopoly in brains in military intelligence, but it is deadly to underestimate me in this field either. I get answers no one else can many times! Obama may push Russia to the point that Russia decides to annihilate America. And I cracked Russian military security so widely, I know several ways they have to annihilate America and not just this military base I have talked about hidden from U.S. military intelligence. Obama may get killed 300 million Americans if my Omni Law is not passed and would be smart to pass in America this year. Obama is double-crossing several sides that helped get him into power and playing a very dangerous game that could end up killing off 300 million Americans maybe as soon as 2016, maybe as soon as 2015, maybe as soon as 2013 as this year is not over yet. There are so many ways America can be annihilated now with modern military technology. I consider it contrary to national security interests to show my knowledge of American angles and foreign angles how it has been figured out how to annihilate nations now as of 2013. Three of the deadliest in angles that could work are no. one is Russia, then either America or China. Political factors make American angles weaker than many of their enemies now.

      Once the Omni Law is passed, I want to fast built the Soviet-era Doomsday Bomb which I know how to build having gotten this information from the defector from the Moscow Institute For Nuclear Studies. I have zero interest in ever using this for America. This just makes the price of American real estate so high that no one is going to want to start a nuclear war with America after that. Under Obama, you have a huge chance of a pending nuclear World War III with Russia, maybe China with Russia, and high chances of nuclear war with Iran or other Islamic nations getting nuclear weapons. Under the Omni Law, once built, the Americanized version of the Soviet-era Doomsday Bomb will say that any nation trying to start a nuclear war with America will automatically be annihilated. Like President Ronald Reagan shrewdly stated, "Peace through strength!" No one will start a nuclear war with America then. 

      Separately the Nazi had their top secret Hitler Ultimate Weapon American and Soviet intelligence was never supposed to find out about. I got the Nazi ultimate weapon design and the most brilliant American military defense engineer during the Cold War and I jointly completed the Nazi design and technology. As this very brilliant defense engineer of 25 years in the Cold War and never wrong in anything in engineering commented on this, "This makes ABC warfare obsolete" meaning Atomic, Biological, and Chemical warfare. It can be used for peacetime uses as well such as weather control, purifying ocean water into fresh drinking water, and other surprise uses. But in warfare, it would pull nuclear structures apart and holes would exist in the earth where once armies stood, navies disappear into thin air, air forces, etc. Once demonstrated, no nation on earth would want to ever want to fight it. They would be certain they would lose if they tried. I will deliver this for American defense but on my terms and only after the Omni Law is passed. I was the maverick in military intelligence and had either incredibly good luck or else God on my side in many successes I achieved in intelligence goals.

      Today speaking of good luck, I just confirmed a great medical discovery in human health. I deal with brilliant people in health research and know many things the public does not know about in the health field. Hello John,  About Syria.

I have been reading the Nesara news, I see the lawfull republic took a stance to not support the war on Syria.  I had to take a step back and figure out why with all this evidence Kerry & Obama claims to have.  There is something here that just did not make sense to me.

So I started looking over all the postings to get my head around this concept “Attack or Not Attack”?
The first article I reread was the one done by the Pope which goes into effect on September 1^st, 2013 that removes immunities from all Corporations and their CEO’s.  This will also impact the past CEO’s for all the actions taken against mankind that is considered to be illegal.  At the same time, based on an article that said Eric Holder, Obama’s attorney general, was asking the US Supreme Court to grant immunity to George Herbert Walker Bush.  I thought that was funny and wouldn’t a request like this mean he did something wrong especially with the September 1^st immunity is gone for CEO’s of Corporations.

But how does this affect Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Carter?  I came to realize that this Democracy Government of US, mob rule, is a corporation based on what Grant did in 1871 when he created UNITED STATES CORPORATION aka US Corp.  So that places each President or another name for them is CEO under Papal Law … ouch. 

I have read many articles indicating Bush Sr. Clinton, Bush Jr. and Obama have stolen huge sums of money, gold, created wars out of thin air to make the European Elite & Banking families wealthy and place another Central bank in the war beaten country.  At the same time, this would allow those European families to gain additional power and wealth by controlling those beaten countries resources for personal gain and not the beaten countries people.  How Interesting! 

Oh, remember the Vatican Bank scandal, all these CEO’s where listed to have accounts with the Vatican bank and each year they were in office they would receive additional funds.  Does not make sense to me?  There is some law about being paid by another country while in CEO office … oh, yea, bribe … that’s it.
In 1964, Kennedy who wanted to drop Fed Res and go over to US Treasury, back to the original constitution and bill of rights was killed for his efforts. Why was there US Treasury dollars backed by Silver aka Silver Certificates printed.  Today, US Corp says it’s not money.  They are right, its Currency not Fiat money like the Federal Reserve. Kennedy Silver Currency is backed by assets aka Silver.  Go Figure!  Just to keep the Elite Banking families in control of all the money and tax the crap out of the American people thanks to US Corp.

In 1995, Clinton ordered the plane with Admirals & Generals plus a POW VET destroyed in flight so they could not prosecute him on TREASON for his acts aiding and abetting sworn enemies of the United States and the normalization of relations with Viet Nam while POW’s were held captive.  The flag officers and their materials went up in smoke.  Within 2 days Oklahoma bombing which destroyed documentation on WACO.  It was noted that a significant portion of the front of the building collapsed, from the bottom straight up to the top -- just like we would see in a controlled demolition. It has been reported that Military experts concluded that a homemade Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil (ANFO) charge could not have cut through steel I-beams anywhere near this effectively. Wow, this is not good.  All to cover up the plane crash of Flag officers who had solid evidence to prosecute Clinton for Treason. Hmmm.

I see that we might be repeating the past once again.  Remember, on 9-11 Bush Sr. & Cheney ordered the False Flag on Twin Towers to hide the fact that mid-morning George Walker Bush was ordered to sign a document to shut down Federal Reserve, IRS, US Corp, and start up the De Jure (lawfull) government using the Constitution for the united States of America and full Bill of Rights with the original 13^th amendment.  Oh, yea, where did the gold go what was stored in the basement of the build?  Well, the Patriot Act was born removing additional unalienable (un-a-lien-able) rights from us and we were chasing a dead guy.
Here is how I see it if they do an attack on Syria, the rewards for US Corp 1) They stay in power along with other Agents/Cabal/Elites, 2) They resurrect the bankrupted Federal Reserve, 3) They get new Central Bank in Syria, were they take control of Syria’s resources and plunder the antiquities of Syria, 4) Control OIL and stop free energy or alternative energy coming to market so big OIL rules, 5) Creates new staging area for Libya and Iran wars for the next 10-14 years and 6) Repeat Martial Law since the two anniversary is due thanks to the General order 100 by Liebor Codes.

Also know this; the Congress has gotten approval from Supreme Court to Impeach Obama and Holder.  Matter of fact, they did impeach both and this was to be announced when the Boston Marathon bombing was thrown up in the face of the people.  And base on the evidence from the Boston bombing, we have another False Flag with which to impeach the CEO still in office.

I also see since the Papal decree, it has been said in other articles to assassinate any corporate person they needed the blessing or consent of the Pope, Queen, UN to take those actions. So that means this action that US Corp wants to do by invading Syria or bombing with no evidence that has been brought forward to show the people of the world other than video which appears to have crisis actors in it would mean the POPE, Queen & UN gave his consent to conduct this false flag.  So what is wrong with this picture?
Just recently there was an article about Obama’s brother who has a foundation that he and Obama own and run together.  It was said in the article that this foundation was funding groups like the Muslin brotherhood which was behind the Syria rebels.  I also find it interesting that Valerie Jarrett who is Obama’s chief of staff who supports the Muslin Brotherhood since she is muslin and made the calls during the Benghazi act.  So, were was Mr. O?  And why didn’t General Dempsey correct this situation? Is there some correlation between Bush SR and Obama resigning General Dempsey up as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs for another term?

With all this said, I believe the impacts to the Americans is the US Corp invokes martial law for 2 more years under Liebor Codes Gen Order 100 which takes away many of our rights aka Bill of Rights.  Just for fact, Clinton rewrote the Constitution to be used for US Corp, aka Constitution of the United States of America.  Note the difference “of” means illegal government while “for” is lawfull government.

I know there is a lot of folks looking for a Global Currency exchange, well they will stop that one and other folks are talking about court settlements from the US Corp for the last 20+ year.  The release of lawsuit settlements means the end of the US Corp, they will have to step down, Federal Reserve & IRS is shut down, De Jure Republic government under original Constitution with Bill of Rights replacing Democracy or Oligarchy.  The prosperity funds will be stolen by the US Corp for leveraging their wars like they did to many funds due others in the past.

We have evidence that Bush Jr lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq; Hilary has been caught in lies on capitol hill; Benghazi was a bunch of lies covering up lack of leadership from Obama and Dempsy did not remove Jarrett from the operation; Boston Bombing with all the alternative shots of actors before and after showing it was staged, with input from military medics who said it was made up since they had real battle field experiences; US Corp tried to start a war with Iran but was stopped by the Military Leadership; and Now Syria, is this another false flag for US Corp to benefit and cost the rest of the world everything?

OK, my conclusion, the De Jure which means lawfull government in republic form is the guys that actually have this together.  Based on their writings, I now believe them over the Kerry & Obama show.

The Real False Flag?

Got call from a contact with a past in the military.  He was quite upset about the situation in Syria. I have never heard him so upset before. He said "the false flag isn't the poison gas attacks, its the 4 unescorted Navy destroyers sitting offshore that are easy pickings for Syria's Russian-built anti-ship missiles that fly at mach 7 for which we have no defense...".  There are no US Navy Carrier groups in the mediterranean right now.

He also said "the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has offered Putin a sweet oil deal in OPEC if they don't come to Syria's aid".  This also cuts the USA out of its current role in the middle east with OPEC.

Its not a well kept secret that KSA and Qatar have been financing the rebels in Syria, both countries want to build a natural gas pipeline through Syria to Turkey so that they can ship natural gas via pipeline to Europe.  Some reports have said Putin has sided with Syria in the past because he didn't want Russia's lucrative near monopoly status on natural gas exports to Europe to end.

The contact is not a believer that Galactics will intervene in the case of any missile firing.  Let's hope he's wrong on that if this scenario plays out.

Personally I think the energetics of Earth no longer favor these kind of moves and will backfire badly if carried out to their conclusion.  Perhaps this is one of those watershed moments that exposes the banker financed wars for what they are, schemes to stay in control.

Remember that scene in Casablanca when Claude Rains, playing Captain Renault in the World War II-era city of the title, closing down Rick’s casino with the immortal words, “I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here,” even as he gratefully pockets his own winnings?
Well, welcome to the Wall Street circa 2013. JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) seems to be mired in a perfect regulatory storm, with some of its European traders facing criminal charges in connection with the London Whale losses, its commodities operations still faced with uncertainty as its aluminum warehouse storage “scandal” continues, and now the “revelation” that the bank hired the children of top Chinese officials in hopes that this would help it win more business. (It may even have worked – surprise, surprise. Odds are, though, that the nepotism scandal will prove to be a non-starter on the regulatory front: Once that can of worms is opened, it’s hard to imagine where it will ever end.)

In all, The Wall Street Journal notes, the bank faces as least seven investigations by various regulators. Yet while the bank says its legal woes might – in the worst case scenario – add $6.8 billion in losses above its existing reserves, this isn’t in and of itself a reason to flee the stock.
Set those possible losses against the bank’s earnings performance, its valuation (only 8.6 times trailing earnings), its lavish 2.93 percent dividend yield (almost enough to put it into the Dogs of the Dow category). Then factor in that short positions by traders hoping to profit from a fall in the bank’s share price have declined by nearly 5 percent lately, and still account for only about 1 percent of all shares outstanding, and you have a recipe for a rapid rebound.
What will trigger that? Who knows. But the odds certainly favor it, once the headline risks abate.
The one real risk here? The bank doesn’t just need to persuade investors that it takes compliance and risk management seriously, but to really, truly take compliance and risk management seriously.
In his letter to shareholders earlier this year, CEO Jamie Dimon wrote that the bank “must and will do a better job at compliance.”
“Let me be perfectly clear,” Dimon wrote. “These problems were our fault, and it is our job to fix them. In fact, I feel terrible that we let our regulators down. We are devoted to ensuring that our systems, practices, controls, technology and, above all, culture meet the highest standards. We want to be considered one of the best banks – across all measures – by our shareholders, our customers and our regulators.”
Any further revelations of questionable losses or trading activity and the context in which investors view JPMorgan Chase will turn much darker – and rightfully so. Once is a bad error of judgment; twice is unforgivable.
But most of the risks that we know the bank will face – rising interest rates, a decline in mortgage refinancing, the need to satisfy regulators on both capital plans and an emergency liquidation strategy – are common to all banks. What all banks don’t share is JPMorgan Chase’s dominant market position and the intense focus of its management team.
If you want to stay away from this stock, do so because it is mismanaging its business, failing to maximize returns or dropping the ball on risk management – not because of headlines about litigation. Unless JPMorgan Chase has been manipulating global markets on a massive scale (of the kind I’ve only encountered in crime fiction), then the ongoing litigation might leave a slight but not lasting tarnish on its name that time will rapidly remove.
