Caravan Of Mysterious White Military Buses Seen In North Carolina As FEMA Trains With Shackles Conspiracy Theory Gets Jade Helm 15 Twist

With the US Army now admitting that 'Jade Helm 15 Is Getting Wired Tight', the 1st video below is getting a lot of attention on YouTube as it shows a caravan of mysterious white buses with all of their windows blackened out making their way south in North Carolina and being driven by members of the US military according to the person who passed by them and took these pictures. All News Pipeline has been informed that these buses are meant to carry prisoners and with potential dissident roundups now (of 'role players') confirmed by the US Army to be happening in Jade Helm 15, the story shared in the 2nd video below has brought back to life the infamous 'FEMA Trains with shackles' conspiracy theory that dates back at least 10 years. 
The caravan of mysterious buses was seen east of Raleigh, North Carolina and had no markings whatsoever but had government tags. The 8 buses could obviously be used to haul around a lot of people and as a source confirmed to us, are meant to transport prisoners, potentially 60+ prisoners per bus.

In the 2nd video below we're told of a story reported by SHTFPlan broken by Dave Hodges in which he received an anonymous letter from someone claiming to be a Texas Ranger who told him about ominous FEMA trains with shackles being prepared to ALSO transfer prisoners, though he tells us that the prisoners to be transferred are members of ISIS captured in America. According to this anonymous letter, ISIS has enough firepower in Texas to take over a small town. As is clearly explained in the 2nd video, we should take this letter (excerpts of it below) with a grain of salt.
 

Hello Mr. Hodges, I have been a Texas Ranger for quite some time, and as such, I am privy to much of what is going on with regard to the Midland Walmart store closing, the presence of ISIS on Texas soil and our preparations to combat an insurgent threat.
The main reason that I am writing to you is to encourage you to keep writing on the growing threat of infiltration in Texas and I suspect other states as well. The infiltration I am writing about is not just Special Forces that are going to conducting covert drills in our state. that is concerning and I agree with you this involves martial law.  For now I am talking about ISIS and the danger that they pose to all of us. Our intelligence indicates that they have enough manpower & firepower to subdue a small town. The Midland Walmart takeover by DHS is a national security move in which we have been told falls under the Continuity of Government provisions. The Threat Fusion Centers are providing related information on what it is we are facing but the information sharing is only in one direction and that is very concerning.
We expecting an attack on more than one Texas city or town by ISIS and/or any of their partners. I believe the information to be accurate. However, this makes the covert operations of groups like the Navy Seals and others under JH15 highly suspicious. We do not need the insertion of Special Ops into Texas towns and cities. I think that you are probably right about the intention of arresting political undesirables given what we know about JH15. I am of the opinion that whatever the mission objectives of JH15, they have nothing to do with the immediate threat. Therefore, I do not pretend to understand the full scope of JH 15 because there are unfolding operational details which are almost impossible to reconcile with what I already know to be fact based the evidence for what is going on.

Let me drop a bombshell that I have not seen you address. There are trains moving throughout Texas that have shackles inside some of the cars. I have not personally seen them, but I know personnel that have seen this. This indicates that these trains will be used to transport prisoners of some sort. I know from reading your articles that your default belief will be that these are for American political prisoners and will be transported to FEMA detention camps of some sort. We have been told by Homeland that these trains are slated for transporting captured terrorists, non-domestic. We are not sure we can trust this explanation because Homeland is keeping a lot from us and we are growing increasingly uncomfortable with their presence in Texas.

With all of the money that is being spent on Jade Helm 15, why is that money NOT being spent upon securing the southern border? We certainly had plenty of years to get that accomplished and it would seem that by now, it's far too late to stop those who want to get in from coming in. Are they preparing to haul off a mass number of ISIS terrorists via trains with shackles or are these trains, if they even exist, prepared for 'dissident' Americans?
We certainly don't know all the answers and are just bringing this information to your attention to do with it as you might. Sadly we all know by now that we cannot get any real information from the mainstream nor our govt about what it really happening in America nor anywhere around the world. Thankfully, we at least have citizen media such as DAHBOO777 and Professor Doom1 in the videos below to at least bring forth information and ask the questions that need to be asked.

Will trains such as the one below be used as 'FEMA death trains' or are they simply 'car carriers'?

Officials within the UN are pushing the notion that the human population should be reduced in order to effectively combat climate change. 
The long standing notion has been continually pushed by Christiana Figueres, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC).
In 2013, Figueres had a conversation with Climate One founder Greg Dalton regarding “fertility rates in population,” as a contributor to climate change.
The comments are made at 4.20 into the following video:





“A related issue is fertility rates in population.” Dalton opined. “A lot of people in energy and environmental circles don’t wanna go near that because it’s politically charged. It’s not their issue.” he added.
“But isn’t it true that stopping the rise of the population would be one of the biggest levers and driving the rise of green house gases?” Dalton asked.
"Obviously less people would exert less pressure on the natural resources,” Figueres answered, also noting that estimates suggest the Earth’s population will rise to nine billion by 2050.
Dalton then questioned whether that figure could in some way be stalled or halted.
“So is nine billion a forgone conclusion? That’s like baked in, done, no way to change that?” he asked Figueres.
“There is pressure in the system to go toward that; we can definitely change those, right? We can definitely change those numbers,” Figueres said in response.
Really, we should make every effort to change those numbers because we are already, today, already exceeding the planet’s planetary carrying capacity.” she also claimed.
“So yes we should do everything possible. But we cannot fall into the very simplistic opinion of saying just by curtailing population then we’ve solved the problem. It is not either/or, it is an and/also.” the UN official also said.
Climate One is a self described public affairs forum which advocates extreme action to combat climate change. It is a branch of The Commonwealth Club of California based in San Francisco, essentially a talking shop visited regularly by heads of government and corporate business.
Figueres is no stranger to controversial statements when it comes to climate change. The UN official 
previously described the goal of the UNFCC as “a complete transformation of the economic structure of the world."
She has also repeatedly said that a Chinese style communist dictatorship is better suited than the U.S. constitutional system to fight “global warming.”
Figueres told Bloomberg News last year that the Chinese government (which continues to enforce forced abortions, infanticide and compulsory sterilization) is “doing it right” when it comes to climate change, even though China is by far the biggest emitter of greenhouse gasses.Figueres noted that a partisan divide in the U.S. Congress is “very detrimental” to passing climate related legislation, while the Chinese Communist Party, sets policies by decree. President Obama clearly agrees given that he continues to bypass Congress by issuing executive orders on climate change.As InfoWars has continually noted, there is a fundamental flaw in associating climate change with overpopulation.Populations in developed countries are declining and only in third world countries are they expanding dramatically.Industrialization itself levels out population trends and even despite this world population models routinely show that the earth’s population will level out at 9 billion in 2050 and slowly decline after that.“The population of the most developed countries will remain virtually unchanged at 1.2 billion until 2050,”  states a United Nations report.The UN’s support for depopulation policies is in direct contradiction to their own findings.Once a country industrializes there is an average of a 1.6 child rate per household, so the western world population is actually in decline. That trend has also been witnessed in areas of Asia like Japan and South Korea. The UN has stated that the population will peak at 9 billion and then begin declining.In addition, as highlighted by the Economist, global fertility rates are falling.Since radical environmentalists are pushing to de-industrialize the world in the face of the so called carbon threat, this will reverse the trend that naturally lowers the amount of children people have.If climate change fanatics are allowed to implement their policies, global population will continue to increase and overpopulation may become a real problem – another example of how the global warming hysterics are actually harming the long term environment of the Earth by preventing overpopulated countries from developing and naturally lowering their birth levels.Even if you play devils advocate and accept that humans do cause catastrophic warming and there are too many of us, and if you can skip past the eugenics connotations of population control and depopulation policies, those methods are fundamentally still not a valid solution to the perceived climate change threat.The real solution would be to help increase the standard of living of the cripplingly poor third world, allowing those countries to industrialize, and seeing the population figures naturally level out. Instead, the third world has seen a doubling in food prices owing to climate change policies such as turning over huge areas of agricultural land to the growth of biofuels.In addition, Climate legislation continually pushed  by the developed world has those nations taking on less of a burden than anticipated demanding more of poorer countries, despite the fact that any further cuts in CO2 emissions will further cripple their flimsy economies and poverty-stricken people.Previous legislation, such as the Copenhagen agreement, allowed people in developed countries to emit twice as much carbon per head than those in poorer countries, who have not caused the rise in emissions said to be threatening our existence on the planet. The revelations have led third world leaders to accuse the developed world of “climate colonialism”.Linking environmental policy to depopulation agendas opens the door to eugenics and it is no surprise that through that door have come pouring hordes of elitist filth just begging to be on the front line of the extermination policy.One example is UK-based public policy group The Optimum Population Trust (OPT), which has previously launched initiatives urging wealthy members of the developed world to participate in carbon offsets that fund programs for curbing the population of developing nations.In 2007, the group also published a report announcing that children are ‘bad for planet and ‘having large families should be frowned upon as an environmental misdemeanor in the same way as frequent long-haul flights, driving a big car and failing to reuse plastic bags. The same talking point has been re-iterated again and again by public policy groups and environmentalists, as well as the most influential scientists in the US government.While you may think ideas of sterilization and depopulation could never be accepted by the public, those very concepts are now being embraced and popularized by some as the way forward for humanity.The head of the UN’s leading climate change panel is providing a platform, and in some cases actively pushing for a policy enforced by a dictatorship that hunts down mothers who become pregnant with their second child, abducts them off the street and takes them to government controlled hospitals where they are drugged and their baby is killed – all in the name of saving the planet.

BREAKING: In A Shocking Move, The Baltimore State’s Attorney Just Acted On The Freddie Gray Case

Acting far faster than legal analysts expected, the Baltimore State’s Attorney has determined that Freddie Gray’s death was a homicide and has slapped the six police officers involved in Gray’s arrest and transport with multiple charges, including manslaughter and misconduct. The Baltimore Sun reports that one of the officers, Caesar R. Goodson, Jr. — the driver of the van in which Gray apparently suffered a fatal injury — has been charged with second-degree murder.
The New York Times coverage of the prosecutor’s surprise annoucement Friday morning noted that the state’s attorney, Marilyn Mosby, “described repeated mistreatment of Mr. Gray. She said that time and again police mistreated Mr. Gray, arresting him with no grounds, violating police procedure by putting him in cuffs and leg cuffs in the van without seat belting him and then repeatedly failing to get him medical attention.”



The announcement of the charges being filed against all six police officers involved in the alleged homicide comes only one day after the Baltimore Police Department completed its initial investigation into Gray’s death and handed over its findings to Mosby’s office. Mosby, who has been on the job for only a few months, indicated her investigators have been conducted their own probe into Gray’s mysterious death, even as Baltimore police wee investigating.
The prosecutor’s swift announcement, according to the Baltimore Sun report, drew sharp criticism from the president of the local Fraternal Order of Police, FOP Lodge 3. In an open letter to the state’s attorney, Gene Ryan noted what he claimed is a conflict of interest in Mosby’s prosecution of the case because she’s married to Baltimore City Councilman Nick Mosby:

“Most importantly, it is clear that your husband’s political future will be directly impacted, for better or worse, by the outcome of your investigation,” the letter states. “In order to avoid any appearance of impropriety or a violation of the Professional Rules of Professional Responsibilty, I ask that you appoint a Special Prosecutor to determine whether or not any charges should be filed.”

The FOP’s request for appointment of a Special Prosecutor was denied.
In making her unexpected announcement of charges against the six police officers and warrants issued for their arrest, Marilyn Mosby appealed to the public to remain calm and not engage in a continuation of the violence that rocked Baltimore in the wake of Freddie Gray’s death.

“I heard your call for ‘no justice, no peace,'” she said. “Your peace is sincerely needed as I work to deliver justice on behalf of this young man.”

Hilary Clinton just said that Christians must deny their Faith through the enforcement of laws, by stating that the Christian belief in being pro-life, and anti-abortion, must change, and that this should be done through laws and “political will.”


If Christians must change Christian teachings in regards to abortion, then what Hilary Clinton is essentially saying is that Christians must deny their Faith.


Hillary Clinton, speaking at the Women in the World Summit on April 23, made the statement:

Far too many women are denied access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth, and laws don’t count for much if they’re not enforced. Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper. Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.

Notice that she says that the change of Christian beliefs is the “unfinished business of the 21st century,” which means she wants to persecute Christians.

• A man was arrested for possession of firearms in Washington, DC, even though he had a concealed carry permit, his weapons were locked in a gun case, and the gun restrictions had been ruled unconstitutional.

• Hundreds of thousands farmers in India have committed suicide because contracts for GMO seeds have driven them bankrupt.

• Approval of the Belo Monte dam in Brazil is displacing indigenous tribes from their ancestral lands downriver from the dam.

• International aid workers running an orphanage turned it into a brothel.

• The US Supreme Court allowed military detention of civilians to stand as legal in the US.

• Shipping companies dumping oil near a fishing village in Nigeria have destroyed the livelihood of the entire village.

Any living man or woman may bring a case before the ITNJ.  No longer will justice be accessible only to those who can afford to buy it.

Article 15 of the Constitution of the International Tribunal for Natural Justice reads:  Representation:  Parties may appear personally or by way of legal representation, or other approved agent or nominee.  This means anyone may bring a case before the ITNJ, and may stand alone or have the assistance of any agent of their choosing, with no requirement that their agent has or has not been licensed or admitted to practice law by any governmental or judicial authority, or holds a BAR card or any other certification of any association or corporation.  The ITNJ will not be operated as a closed union shop.  This Tribunal will be open to all who can follow court procedures.  Assistance in filing a case will be offered by the Clerk of the Court, and detailed training in court procedures will be provided by the Natural Justice Academy.

Baltimore Riots Mayor Caused The Riots & Received Funding From Obama Admin Proof!

“We also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that.” Those are the words spoken on Saturday by Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake that propelled her into the national political crosshairs.
Americans who did not know the woman’s name a week ago have called for her resignation. Some have even gone as far as to say that she should be charged with inciting a riot. Rawlings-Blake promptly issued a response on her Facebook page clarifying her original statement.
“I did not instruct police to give space to protesters who were seeking to create violence or destruction of property,” said the Mayor via her social media account.
Instead of growing incensed over a few words said by a politician in the midst of a crisis, we need to focus on what caused protesters and looters to fill the streets of Baltimore in the first place.
Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old young man, was arrested for possessing a switchblade. After being violently secured inside of a transport van by officers, he suffered a “spinal cord injury” under the watch of Baltimore police. In reality, Freddie’s spine was “80% severed” at his neck. He lapsed into a coma and passed away seven days later.
Despite six officers being suspended, no charges have been filed on anyone involved. Not a single question of substance has been legitimately answered to date — and only an absence of justice appears to be on the not-so-distant horizon.
Freddie’s family and community could already possess the truth about what happened in the back of that vehicle on April 12th, but they don’t. The entire incident should have been recorded from multiple perspectives, but it wasn’t. The innocent would be exonerated and or the guilty could be charged. Instead, all we have been left with is a shrouded story that conjures up the ghosts of similarly slain young men.
The truth is lurking in the haze, but why? Because Baltimore police officers were not equipped with body cameras. If not for Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, they would have been. If not for Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, we would know the truth.
On December 2, Ms Rawlings-Blake vetoed a bill that would have made it mandatory for Baltimore police officers to be equipped with body cameras. The legislation stated that city cops would “be personally equipped with a digital audio-and-video portable recording device.”
Despite the fact that the bill overwhelmingly passed the Baltimore City Council and the mayor publicly declaring that she wanted officers to wear body cams, she still promised to veto the bill.
She delivered on that promise.
Why did she veto such a common sense bill? The reasons appear to be as simple as pride, ego, and local political posturing.
City Solicitor George Nilson called the text illegal, claiming that the city charter didn’t allow the city council to give direct orders to the police department.
If Rawlings-Blake truly wanted police officers to be held accountable, as she claimed at the time, she would have signed the bill. Period. She would have set aside her petty political games and served the constituents who elected her. She didn’t and now her city is burning for it.
Should Mrs Rawlings-Blake be ruled guilty in the public court of opinion over a few poorly chosen words? Although her press conference demonstrated a lack of leadership when her community needed it most, words are not a physical action. Words did not burn down buildings or loot. Words did not compel the masses to pour into the streets of Baltimore. An action of injustice did predicate such outrage.
Transparency could have prevented the chaos. Justice could have been served.
Too bad Stephanie Rawlings-Blake vetoed it.

Crowell wrote that "the role of the central banks in the bullion market may preclude 'total' transparency, at least at public level," so presumably the more central banks are directly involved with the LBMA, the less transparent the London gold market will become.

VA Stabs Vets in the Back and Robs Them of this Constitutional Right

This is shocking and unprecedented.
It appears the FBI and the VA have teamed up with one another to keep guns out of the hands of “incompetent” vets.
Under the guise of financial regulations, the two organizations have worked together to make sure vets who are having trouble managing their benefits are relieve of their weapons.
Though many of them have put their lives on the line for their country, they are now being prevented from owning weapons making them incapable of defending themselves.
What has the world come to?
The Daily Caller was one of the first to break the story.
They found a 2012 document titled  “MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS AND THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION REGARDING THE NATIONAL INSTANT CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK SYSTEM,”
The document allows the VA to put vets on the FBI criminal background checklist. Once their names are on the list the FBI is free to raid the house and seize legally owned guns.
According to the memo, the VA “will provide an encrypted compact disc exchanged via mail to the FBI no less than quarterly for, inter alia, inclusion in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).” The memo also says the NICS database is a list of “persons prohibited under federal law from receiving or possessing firearms.”
The examiner reported on how this has already been carried out in numerous instances:

A Texas veteran told the Daily Caller he lost his Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms because he changed the way he banks. Henry Wrobel said a VA counselor named “Dr. Blair” determined he could not handle his own finances and that “his wife handles his finances.” As a result, Wrobel said, he received a letter saying that like a felon, he can no longer be around guns.
“I had a pistol permit in Connecticut at 21, and the only things against me are one speeding ticket and two parking tickets. My constitutional rights, my dignity, means nothing to” the counselor, Wrobel told the Daily Caller. “I have no crimes whatsoever against me, and now I’m stripped of my constitutional rights as though I’m a felon.”
Wroble said his wife has been appointed his fiduciary “as though I’m a retarded child.” But Wrobley isn’t retarded, he’s disabled. His injuries include two “made-up thumbs” resulting from 12 hand surgeries, a wired-on shoulder, and other ailments that make it difficult for him to drive. Now, he’s not allowed to own firearms.
“Wrobel,” Howley said, “blamed America’s ‘anti-gun president’ for trying to ‘break the spirit of America’ by taking away veterans’ guns.” Obama has made gun control a central piece of his agenda, but has not succeeded in getting Congress to pass anti-gun legislation.

You can be sure Obama is the one behind this.
Both he and Eric Holder (and now Loretta Lynch) have a passionate agenda aimed at severely crippling American’s rights to own arms.
They rightly view it is an impediment to even more government control.
This is yet another sabotage of the sacred trust between the Commander in Chief and the soldiers who serve under him.

Volcanic Eruption off West Coast United States! Oregon undersea volcano now erupting

A new volcanic eruption is now confirmed to be taking place off the West Coast of the United States.
The new undersea volcanic activity is occurring approximately 300 miles off the shores of Central Oregon, along the Axial Seamount, where a fresh fissure has formed, producing new undersea lava flows, and seismic activity.
This undersea eruption FOLLOWS a series of earthquakes at dormant volcanoes along the West coast in California, and Nevada, as well as several large “steam plume” events from Hot Springs, Cold Springs, and dormant volcano locations.



This is on top of the other major international earthquake , and volcano activity which took place this past week.

The new undersea eruption near the coast of Oregon is taking place directly between the 5.5M earthquake location from this past week (along the Northern California coast), and the 6.2M earthquake location , which occurred along the North Juan de Fuca fault near Vancouver British Columbia.
The volcanic eruption is occurring in the zone directly between the two previous larger earthquakes.  The area had not seen 6.0M+ activity in a fairly long time, now followed by an eruption.

Make note in the media report below, they mention the last time something like this occurred was in 2011.
In the past several videos I’ve put out, I’ve been trying to drive home the point that we are in a similar scenario to 2011 (before the Japan large earthquake in March 2011).
Before the Japan mega-quake, there were a series of unexpected (and quite excessive) volcanic eruptions internationally (which occurred over a short period of time), multiple large repeat earthquakes, steam plumes on the West coast, Hawaii had a volcanic event at Kilauea , and the 2011 undersea eruption off the coast of Oregon.
The same thing which occurred in 2011, is occurring now in 2015.
Plumes on the West coast, an eruption off the West coast, frequent large unexpected eruptions internationally, Hawaii volcano topping out with lava, multiple large widespread earthquakes in succession of one another, and strange geologic activity like what we saw in Japan this past week, where new land rose out of the sea, and other land sank.

All these signs point towards a coming large Pacific Ocean earthquake.
In 2011, most people ignored the warning signs… even going so far as to DENY the warning signs — same thing is happening today in 2015.  People did NOT learn the 2011 lesson of being prepared, and paying attention to geologic signs which show before large events occur.

Undersea Volcano Appears to be Erupting off the Coast of Oregon and Washington

“Axial Seamount, an active underwater volcano located about 300 miles off the coast of Oregon and Washington, appears to be erupting.
Two scientists, including one from OSU’s Hatfield Marine Science Center had forecast that such an event would take place there in 2015.
Geologists Bill Chadwick of Oregon State University and Scott Nooner of the University of North Carolina Wilmington made their forecast last September during a public lecture and followed it up with blog posts and a reiteration of their forecast just last week at a scientific workshop.

Since last Friday, the region has experienced thousands of tiny earthquakes – a sign that magma is moving toward the surface – and the seafloor dropped by 2.4 meters, or nearly eight feet, also a sign of magma being withdrawn from a reservoir beneath the summit. Instrumentation recording the activity is part of the NSF-funded Ocean Observatories Initiative. William Wilcock of the University of Washington first observed the earthquakes.
“It isn’t clear yet whether the earthquakes and deflation at Axial are related to a full-blown eruption, or if it is only a large intrusion of magma that hasn’t quite reached the surface,” said Chadwick, who works out of OSU’s Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport and also is affiliated with NOAA’s Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory. “There are some hints that lava did erupt, but we may not know for sure until we can get out there with a ship.”

No Threat to Coast

In any case, the researchers say, such an eruption is not a threat to coastal residents. The earthquakes at Axial Seamount are small and the seafloor movements gradual and thus cannot cause a tsunami.
“I have to say, I was having doubts about the forecast even the night before the activity started,” Chadwick admitted. “We didn’t have any real certainty that it would take place – it was more of a way to test our hypothesis that the pattern we have seen was repeatable and predictable.”
Axial Seamount provides scientists with an ideal laboratory, not only because of its close proximity to the Northwest coast, but for its unique structure.
“Because Axial is on very thin ocean crust, its ‘plumbing system’ is simpler than at most volcanoes on land that are often complicated by other factors related to having a thicker crust,” said Chadwick, who is an adjunct professor in OSU’s College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences. “Thus Axial can give us insights into how volcano magma systems work – and how eruptions might be predicted.”

Last Erupted in 2011

Axial Seamount last erupted in 2011 and that event was loosely forecast by Chadwick and Nooner, who had said in 2006 that the volcano would erupt before 2014. Since the 2011 eruption, additional research led to a refined forecast that the next eruption would be in 2015 based on the fact that the rate of inflation had increased by about 400 percent since the last eruption.
“We’ve learned that the supply rate of magma has a big influence on the time between eruptions,” Nooner said. “When the magma rate was lower, it took 13 years between eruptions. But now when the magma rate is high, it took only four years.”
Chadwick and Nooner are scheduled to go back to Axial in August to gather more data, but it may be possible for other researchers to visit the seamount on an expedition as early as May. They hope to confirm the eruption and, if so, measure the volume of lava involved.
Evidence that was key to the successful forecast came in the summer of 2014 via measurements taken by colleagues Dave Caress and Dave Clague of Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute and Mark Zumberge and Glenn Sasagawa of Scripps Oceanographic Institution. Those measurements showed the high rate of magma inflation was continuing.”

Opposition Amassing to 'Outdated and Unsound' Trade Policies

'Fast Track is an abrogation of not only Congress' constitutional authority, but of its responsibility to the American people,' reads letter signed by over 2,000 global groups

With dissent fermenting on both sides of the political aisle, more than 2,000 civil society groups are urging Congress to reject Fast Track trade authority, warning that the legislation would pave the way for approval of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the 12-nation proposal they say "replicates and expands on the most damaging provisions of past U.S. trade pacts."
The joint letter (pdf), signed by 2,009 labor, environmental, family farm, consumer, faith, Internet freedom, and other groups, describes Fast Track authority—which would empower President Barack Obama to negotiate trade deals that could not be amended or filibustered in Congress—as "simply inappropriate given the scope of the pending agreements."
It continues:

After decades of massive trade deficits, devastating job loss, downward pressure on Americans' wages, attacks on environmental and health laws and floods of unsafe imported food under our past trade agreements, America must chart a new course on trade policy. To accomplish this, a new form of trade authority is needed that ensures that Congress and the public play a much more meaningful role in determining the contents of U.S. trade agreements.

Fast Track is an abrogation of not only Congress' constitutional authority, but of its responsibility to the American people.

Furthermore, the groups lambast the so-called compromise provisions included in the Ryan-Hatch version of Fast Track legislation that recently passed out of committees in both the Senate and House.
Between "entirely unenforceable" negotiating objectives and transparency provisions that do little to lift the veil of secrecy surrounding global trade deals, the bill "does virtually nothing to increase Congressional oversight over trade policymaking," the groups declare.
Lori Wallach, director of Public Citizen's Global Trade Watch, explained how Fast Track has implications far beyond the trade deals currently on the table. "President Obama may believe the TPP is good for America, even if from what we have seen of the text we strongly disagree, but who knows who will be president next, and if Congress approves this Fast Track bill that unknown president would get unacceptable powers to unilaterally dictate trade policies that are do or die for American jobs and wages and the consumer and environmental safeguards on which all of our families rely," she said.
Meanwhile, The Hill reports Tuesday that aspects of the Fast Track legislation are "sowing discord" among Senate Republicans, with one anonymous GOP senator telling the publication: "The polling is bad, and some people are getting nervous."
According to The Hill:

Potential Republican "no" votes on the bill include Sens. Jeff Sessions (Ala.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Richard Burr (N.C.) and Shelley Moore Capito (W.Va.).
Ten to 15 Senate Democrats are expected to vote for the fast-track bill, which means Republican leaders can only afford to lose fewer than 10 caucus members.
... Republican senators say Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and his leadership team have begun to count votes, a sign that they're not taking passage of the measures for granted.

Support is even shakier among divided Democrats, with labor groups and progressives vowing to hold lawmakers accountable for their votes on the issue. The AFL-CIO, for example, on Tuesday indicated that how candidates position themselves on Fast Track and the TPP will serve as a litmus test for the 2016 elections.
As Ben Wikler, Washington director for MoveOn.org, said in a press release (pdf) Monday, "This is a basic, threshold question for Democrats: Will they stand with Elizabeth Warren and the public? Or will they vote against the people that, at least in the past, elected them to office?"
And one Democrat in particular is being pressed to take a stronger stance on so-called free trade deals: 2016 presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.
"Clinton's support for trade deals has fluctuated with the political calendar," the Associated Press reported Tuesday. As first lady, she hailed NAFTA, but in a 2007 presidential debate, she called the agreement between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico "a mistake."
During her time as a New York senator, the AP continued, she voted for trade agreements with Chile, Singapore, Oman, and Morocco but opposed the Central American Free Trade Agreement. And while she said she opposed then-pending trade agreements with Korea, Columbia, and Panama, as secretary of state, she described those three deals as "critical to our economic recovery."
Likewise, Clinton has supported the TPP in the past, though AP notes that "now, as a candidate, that enthusiasm appears to have waned."
In a wide-ranging interview with Wall Street Journal Washington bureau chief Gerald Seib on Monday, Obama said the debate over Fast Track and the TPP has been marked by "a lot of exaggeration and a lot of histrionics."
Continuing his full-court press in favor of the deal, Obama said:

I think it is entirely appropriate for folks to have strong views, and trade deals have always been controversial. It's part of, you know, American politics.  And so I don’t mind people saying, you know what, we’re not getting enough of this or we’re not getting enough of that, I'd like to see more of this, I'd like to see less of that. And I've met with all of the opponents and my team has met with all the opponents, and I'm willing to continue to engage and debate, and there will be a broad, open debate about this issue. But when people start suggesting that these are secret deals, that there’s some hidden agenda, I have to remind them of who I am and what I've been doing for the last six and a half years and—and ask them maybe to—to keep things a little bit in perspective.

But in a column at the Washington Post on Tuesday, The Nation's Katrina vanden Heuvel countered: "On the TPP, however, President Obama's critics aren't making the perfect the enemy of the good. They are raising fundamental questions about the thrust of our trade policies."
She noted:

The president accuses his opponents of arguing about the past, not the present. But he is recycling the same tired arguments that have been used to sell trade deals for more than 20 years. He touts the increase in jobs that might come from more exports, without even acknowledging the loss of jobs that results from expanded imports. He says export jobs pay more, which is true, but won’t admit that the jobs lost to imports pay even better.

"The president's foes aren't arguing against globalization or trade," vanden Heuvel added. "They are arguing that the rules that govern our trade and investment strategies have been rigged by global companies and banks to benefit themselves, not American workers."
