LLOYD YOUNG - Praise report and Update -- note health comment last line

To: all my family, 1958 / 1962 classmates and friends,

I began to write this update email on the eve of Thursday March 25, 2014 and held it until now. This  coming Sunday is Mother’s Day. As most of you know I had 2 strokes back on October 12 and 26. The 12^th was on my right side and I refused to go to the hospital thinking I could sleep it off.  The next day my children insisted they take me to the hospital which I believe was too late for the type of help I needed at the time since my right hand is the only visible evidence of slow recovery. On Saturday the 26^th  I was incapable to talk and raise my left arm so this time my wife Jackie called 911 for the EMT’s to take me to the hospital. The two strokes back to back has my attention and with the excellent medical assistance from Memorial and Erlanger Hospitals and their expertise of oxygen therapy helped me back to recovery; in addition to Life Care of Hixson for 6 weeks of Rehab. Those rehab girls at the Life Care Center of Hixson know their stuff and what it took to bring someone back to sitting up straight when the “core” was out of balance cause I wanted to slide to the left and out of the wheel chair. Crystal and Megan were my therapists. However, these girls must be congratulated for their outstanding accomplishments while working with me to regain my core stature to the upright position and walking straight placing one foot in front of the other. I must confess that it was strenuous and well worth the labor applied to my wellness. December 20 was my discharge date just in time for Christmas. After being home for 90 days I can feed myself and bath and dress without any assistance Hallelujah!!!

I must testify give you the BEST BEAT REPORT EVER. Many of you prayed for me and my recovery; I want to thank you for your prayers. I am not sure how many prayer lists I was on and those prayers were answered, Praise the Lord…

Since being home I began driving again… very carefully too.
