A large M7.2 earthquake (M7.1 revised) has struck the South Indian Ridge , Southwest of Australia, North of Antarctica.
This newest M7.0+ earthquake follows last weeks new round of earthquake / seismic unrest ... which has now built into several new volcanic eruptions spanning the globe, and additional large earthquakes in areas we don't normally see much activity.
The deep earthquakes are usually followed by shallow movement, and volcanic eruptions. This time around was no exception to the "rule".
_______
Above: April 11, 2012 - Two very large earthquakes struck the Northern Indo-Australian plate boundary, causing a new fracture and the whole continent to begin massive unrest (still seeing results of this rupture today in 2015).
The South Indian ridge is due South of the Indo-Australian plate boundary -- seen in the graphic above looking like a long straight "line" undersea which extends directly South from West Indonesia towards Antarctica.
