Hi John
Here's a good one for you today.
A recent study published in the journal Public Health Nutrition has shown that eating fast food is linked to a greater likelihood of suffering from depression.
To the tune of a 51% increase in risk!
In addition, the researchers noted a "dose-response relationship"--meaning the MORE fast food you eat, the GREATER your risk of depression.
Hmmm...isn’t it ironic that Mc Donald's calls those little boxed dinners heavily marketed to kids "HAPPY" meals?
Watch out for Little Debbie too!
Studies have also been done on commercial baked goods and snack cakes and the results are equally conclusive.
One researcher was quoted as saying, "Even eating small quantities is linked to a significantly higher chance of developing depression."
One study sample consisted of 8,964 participants that had never been diagnosed with depression or taken antidepressants. They were followed for an average of six months, and at the end of the study period 493 (1 out of 20!) were diagnosed with depression or started to take antidepressants.
Similar results were seen in another study published in the PLoS One journal in 2011. That project noted 657 new cases of depression out of 12,059 people analyzed over more than six months.
So the next time you give your kid a "Little Debbie" or other snack cake (or indulge in one yourself) think about not only how it could affect your waistline but also your MIND!
Depression help and prevention
As disturbing as the studies and statistics I quoted above are, they should be no surprise.
They're just further evidence of the undeniable connection between food and mood, my friend.
And if you want to do all you can to help prevent depression, or to help ease your symptoms if you've got it, it's easier than you think.
You just need to take a closer look at what depression-causing deficiencies you might have and help turn them around!
Here's what I mean:
Possible deficiency #1- Lacking nutrients from real foods
Many people who suffer from depressive disorders are deficient in numerous vitamins and minerals, especially B-complex vitamins, zinc and magnesium.
Fast food and processed snacks/sweets are grossly lacking in ANY appreciable nutrients...so the more you eat of them, the more of those nutrients you are lacking.
And the more likely you are to be depressed as a result!
Foods like these also create a lot of acid wastes, which not only make it harder for your body to absorb whatever nutrients you do happen to take in, but can also affect the functioning of your organs--including your thyroid gland--which can also bring on depression.
The great news is that increasing numbers of people are seeing a DRAMATIC improvement in their depressive symptoms once they start eating more REAL foods (and decreasing the acid wastes in their body).
When you make food your medicine, help your pH be more alkaline and get the nutrients you need, your body and mind can function SO much better.
You can accomplish these important goals simply by following the guidelines in the Great Taste No Pain health system.

Great Taste No Pain is not a diet--it's an eating lifestyle that helps you attain a good acid/alkaline balance, efficient digestion and stronger nutrient absorption.
There are just a few simple principles to remember, and I explain it all in everyday language--it's a cinch.
Possible deficiency #2- Omega-3 EFAs
Not only are fast and processed foods lacking most vitamins and minerals, but they're also grossly deficient in Omega-3 essential fatty acids.
This is not good.
Because Omega-3 EFAs are CRUCIAL to mental health! Your brain absolutely MUST have them to function properly.
It didn't used to be this way.
Back in our grandparents' day all the Omega-3 EFAs they needed were obtained naturally from their diets. Animals for our food supply were allowed to graze as Nature intended them to, and we got the benefit of their Omega-3 EFAs when we ate their meat, eggs and butter and drank their milk. Plus fish was always wild-caught and largely free of contaminants.
But not any longer. Our current reliance on processed/fast foods, plus vegetable oils, farm-raised fish and meat from grain-fed animals (which are heavy in Omega-6 EFAs but have few or no Omega-3 EFAs), has resulted in many people lacking the Omega-3 EFAs their minds so desperately need.
That's why supplementation with a high quality Omega-3 fish oil formula like VitalMega-3 can make such a difference in your physical AND mental health.

Possible deficiency #3- Vitamin B12
When your Vitamin B12 level runs low, that can cause a wide range of symptoms from head to toe including:
- Lack of energy
- Memory problems
- Sleeplessness
- Constipation or diarrhea
- Vision problems
- Weakened immune system
- Mental fog or confusion
DEPRESSION AND MOOD SWINGS!
Current studies show that as many as 1 out of 4 people may have or are close to developing a Vitamin B12 deficiency, but most don't know it.
And as a result, they may be suffering from depression and even taking antidepressants, yet wondering why they're not feeling any better!
The good news is a B12 deficiency is extremely easy to tackle. All you need is a high quality supplement that stands a good chance of being effectively absorbed.
And Hydroxaden 2.5 delivers on both.

Hydroxaden 2.5 is a convenient B12 spray that gives you a daily dose of one of the most highly recommended forms of Vitamin B12 (hydroxocobalamin).
Just five sprays under your tongue give you a helpful 2.5 mg. of B12 (that can quickly get into your blood stream) to help boost your energy, help sharpen your mind, enhance your immune system and...
Help fight depression!
If you or someone you love suffers from depression, don't think that dangerous medications are the only answer...or that you're destined to feel miserable with no hope in sight.
Instead take a close look at your diet and see what deficiencies you might have.
It can make ALL the difference in the world...and quite possibly have you feeling much better FAST!
To your health,
Sherry Brescia
