Election update: Stunning conservative wave! Now what? Liberty Counsel Action

From the Desk of: Mat Staver Chairman, Liberty Counsel Action November 5, 2014           First of all, please join me in thanking God for answering our prayers for a radical change in our nation's direction!    Unlike most national elections, the 2014 results were so decidedly pro-conservative that we can only conclude that God heard the prayers of America's believers and moved mightily on our behalf!  Like you, we praise Him that the United States Senate will be returning to Republican control and that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has been deposed.  But we know there is much work to do in coming weeks to advance the principles of liberty, life, and family in the lame duck 113th Congress. The American People demanded change. The majority of Americans  were tired of being ignored, condescended to, and marginalized. So, we expressed our concerns at the polls – and delivered an unmistakable, thunderous message!   We were pushed to the edge by unprecedented, out-of-control government growth, the subversion of the Constitution, the ObamaCare healthcare "reform" debacle, unjustified and reckless spending, and a myriad of other provocations, abuses, and insults from the Obama administration, all orchestrated through Harry Reid's strong-arm hold in the Senate.   Today, countless observers are sharing interesting and valuable perspectives on what was surely a historic election.  I feel the impact of the 2014 mid-term elections will prove to be far deeper than can be readily apparent on "the day after."   In fact, I believe the 2014 election cycle will be intensely studied for many years to come. I believe we are just beginning to realize how significant an event we have witnessed – and the challenges that lie immediately ahead.   + + Statism has been firmly rebuked by the People!   This election was a historic repudiation of Barack Obama's quest to fundamentally transform our nation and a strong correction of his congressional sycophants.   In many ways, the historic 2014 elections signal the start of a new era in American government. Putting a new face on Congress is only the beginning.   We must faithfully hold each and every one of our elected representatives accountable for their votes, their legislative proposals, and their willingness to affirm values shared by the majority of Americans! For Liberty Counsel Action's part, we have a few pledges of our own:   I personally commit Liberty Counsel Action, my staff, and our resources to continue making sure legislators are doing the job we elected them to do. We vow to make sure those in Congress know exactly where you and I stand on the crucial issues of the day.   Further, we pledge to remain on top of the issues facing pro-liberty, pro-faith Americans – and to provide you with regular, strategic opportunities to effectively engage America's public policy and legal processes.   Dale, after this historic election cycle, we stand at the onset of an extraordinary season of opportunity to impact our culture!   First, we will be closely monitoring the "lame duck" session of the 113th Congress scheduled to reconvene next week.   Then, together, we will hold the new Congress accountable to the tasks they were elected to perform.   Watch for a forthcoming LCA initiative to send a unified, powerful message to the incoming elected officials.   The elected representatives of the United States of America have been given a new mandate, a new direction for change.
